The expansiontank contains air (water and air is separated via a rubber diafragm) which is compressible while water (as other fluids) are not, whitout the expansiontank, as the water heats up and expands, most probably will blow the connectors. It also maintains the pressure at the same level as the hot water is used and refilled in the heater.
We so love keeping up with you guys and your progress on what is more than likely going to end up being one of the most epic boats on the cut! Becks is so impressive with her DIY skills, and Chrissy.....well, just keep up the stellar video editing man!! Peace!!
Its been a long old journey, but what an adventure so far, were getting dangerously close , Thank you so much ❤️😊
Hi Guy's so sad to see the duckling dissappear it was probably a Pike, nature can be so cruel 😢
As always enjoying your vlogs especially the editing 😊
Your such a good DIY Bex and Chris is a Great Musician 😊Keep up the Great improvements.❤xx
all our hot water heaters have the same set up for the cold water.. and yeah we knew you wouldn't eat the cute lil duck😊 and your correct about the brass an copper. So congratulations an I hope you have very safe an fun boating!
2024 is definitely year of the Crobot! Well done Chris and Bex 🥰
Thank you Lesley ❤️😊
The Lights are 😊lovely 😊😊❤
Thank you! 😊
Bex you do us ladies proud.
Thank you ❤️😊
Wow bex looks fantastic in that hard hat 🥰🥰🤣
Oh Chris the marigolds and chucking the dishes has me in bulk, you are hilarious! Bex you are so clever. Brains and good looks! You got it all girl! And Chris I reckon you keep your brains a secret because the editing in these recordings are first class. Two very talented humans for sure. Love you guys ❤️❤️
Hi Estelle, Bex has really got her head screwed on with all her pipes....I wouldn't have a clue at all what to do....so yeah....I'll just show how I can wash dishes 😂😂bless you thats such a sweet thing to say ❤️❤️
@@TheNomadicCrobot
😍😍
I would take the pressure off the 2 pipes coming out the calorifier by using another elbow as you have a fair bit of pressure on those speedfit elbows and its only a small rubber oring making the seal.
Thanks for the advice I better let Bex know
Who the hell is that super model on the thumbnail? Bex is the man/ woman for the job. You two are going to be the go-to people for diy tips. I'm sure I could've built one by now. 😂😂😂
Great vlog as usual guys.
Bex will be well chuffed with comment Will, thanks for sticking with us, we Bex will be ...im not sure how much iv learnt 😂😂
Love the Black Flag hat! 🤘😁🤘
Great band😃
Respect, hope you get sorted soon and can begin your cruising adventures!
Thanks so much ❤️😊
Well done becks hot water soon 👍 tc now both the oldies 🤗🤗
Thank you ❤️😊
slash pike taking a duck r.i.p duck
it looks that way....woaw
Has it been three years already. That just shows time flies when you're having a good time. Very soon you will have fun traveling.
yeah been a long old time 😂😂
Chris mate with Bex you have won first prise in the lottery of life, be very kind to her.
Bless her
Chris needs new marigolds. Bex is a warrior!!! Once the water is sorted will you then be able to live on it full time? Love the lights. Good work!!
😊🤗 Kathy
I know..nobody got me any for my birthday this year 😂😂 cant wait to get out cruising , Thank you so much Kathy
If the extra piping prevents scalding your wobbly bits when some yob messes with another pulmbing fixture,...its well worth the extra effort! You only do it once,....and your bits could get poached every day!!
Another step forward guys, you should be ready to cruise soon
Thank you so much ❤️😊
When I go in our shower I leave a note out for my sons, 'please don't flush the toilet or run a tap, mum is in the shower!' Otherwise I get scalded or frozen. We live in a house!
😂😂 oh no....I actually remember it being the same around mums house as a kid
I bought a £300 pump to stop this and it still happens. 😞
but not as bad, the temperature still changes but not enough to make you scream out.
Oh wow fantastic progress guys, you will get there, gosh that hot water system looks complicated, well done in figuring that all out and, oh what happened to the duck, did you see a fin :) beware of sharks or even a crocodile ;)
Thank you so much, its been a really long road but were getting there , Sharks??? now were talking
Another great video guys, loving the new solar lights. Just wondered whether you were installing a non-return valve in the cold water feed to the calorifier. If you don’t have one you can end up with hot water coming out of your cold taps when you first turn them on. The pressure build up in the expansion tank pushes the hot water back through the cold water pipes. There’s a great document on the Jabsco site that explains this, if you haven’t seen it already.
Thank you so much, thats so interesting Thanks for all your insight there's so much to take in
I love the way Bex sorts out expansion tanks.
the girl does not mess about 😂
Yes, I was at Crick on the Saturday. Saw some TH-camrs there; Floating Our Boat did a Q&A. Meeting up with people is probably the best way to do it; it's all a bit sales orientated otherwise and even the masterclasses were essentially sales pitches. Good food choices and not too expensive like I'd been warned, and 54 different beers in the beer tent, not including the cider! One good tip: if you ever go there by boat, don't pay for an official mooring, would have cost me £140, instead I moored for free other side of Yelvertoft and walked the 2.5 miles.
I think you're right, I never knew it was a bit of a sales pitch..but can see that being an issue, hopefully it doesn't take the fun out of it, we were hoping to reach out to a few solar companies ready for the next steps on the boat , thanks for the advice Tim
Becks is a legendary
isn't she amazing ❤️❤️
I wonder how many new pairs of marigolds Chris will get for Christmas lol
I got 5 pairs a few years back...this year I got none 😢 not sure whats going on there Lisa, hope your both well ❤️😊❤️
Watching since the beginning , hope you get it all sorted soon , wish I was over there so I could drop by and lend a hand. Can not wait to see you out cruising again , it’s going to be interesting/ entertaining - it always is with you guys , but will be even more so once you get going. Best of luck . Bryan in Newfoundland.
Thanks for all the love and support, what a long ride it has been. Bless you thank you for all your kind words
OMG hot water is so very close now guys, two more big jobs and you’re on your way. This is the stage we’re you say “right let’s just get in and just finish it”, been at this stage so many times with so many houses, but do we get in and just get it done? No. The worst is yet to come, the BIG clean up once you’re finished, I suggest you buy a box that will fit under a bed, or somewhere that you can hide it, as you’ll have more tools and bits and pieces “we should keep that as it may be handy later” than you’ll realise, and Bex you seem to be like Henri, saved pieces of wood, so ugly on the roof, get rid of them unless they’re beautiful piece and worth money. Just my opinion. Great to see you both. Good luck with the rest I’ll be watching. Take care. 💕
The duck could have been taken by a Pike.
we actually thought that too
Three years well i am catching up a bit now with your history . Becks on a pipes dreams then . And Chris still loves that duck.
You got it in one ❤️😊
Lucky duck 😂 I bought two goats (juno and sweet) with the intention of fattening but we became firm friends they were just adorable , I gave them to my friend he has 4 kids that are having great fun with juno and sweet safe from the chopping block
awww thats such a sweet story, thankfully the duck is safe for the time being 😂😂
Lovely vlog. Very entertaining. Love you guys. Makes my day that much brighter ❤😂🎉😊
Thank you joining us again 😊❤️
We missed you not being at Crick. It was good show as always. Hope you get to set off this summer 🤞
Sorry something always seams to get in the way 😢
Well done Bex and great washing up Chris
Thanks Tony 😂😊
Love your videos.. pike has had a duck lunch !
oh my go do you think 😢😢
Unfortunately I do 😪
Hey guys,
As for that disappearing duck trick, you might have a mighty pike lurking under the water. If so it's a monster and worth fishing for.
Becca you are a "wiz kid" when it comes to plumbing. Keep following those instructions and you can't go too far wrong.
Chris thanks for the idea of spinning things after washing them. I'll have to give it a go. After all if one can have a pre wash, then why can't one have a pre dry?
Mark
Alberta, Canada
I think you could well be right, Bex is amazing at plumbing, im still mastering my washing up technique but im getting there , Thanks Mark
Pike ate the duck. Good effort Becky, however; your plastic pipework (Hep 2O/JG Speedfit) should not be bent, only fitted in straight lines. Elbows for vertical and horizontal runs/turns. You're putting stress (or strain) on the pipework (and the fittings) by bending it, which it is not designed to withstand. I.E. not bend. It can also kink if/when the plastic gets hot, as will soften with heat. Gate (or wheel head) valves only work on non pressurized pipes, e.g. the cold water feed to a hot water cylinder, on an open, vented system. So you might find that won't seal 100% when closed; should use a stopcock or isolation valve, like a Pegler valve (commonly known as a lever, ball valve), as they work at pressure. Speedfit is best if you're going to use plastic, as is the only one guaranteed not to leak. Just saying y'all.
Thats so interesting, I did wonder that myself so I will let Bex know. The gate valve was done because of another vlog that advised it so will defo take another look into this, thank you for all your advice
I am a plumber!
First you spend a few hours on get free of inboard water.
Now you spend more hours to get water running inboards again.
Narrowboat living seems a little bit odd. 😇🥰
Its been an incredible odd experience from the moment I met Chris 😂😂 Thanks
good vid on the cut keep up the goods vid on channel thanks lee
Thank you Lee❤️
I just did a Google and found a BBC article from 2019 about a duck eating catfish. Looks like they had it removed to stop it decimating the bird population.
oh woaw thats crazy
Let there be...uh...light....and hot water. And behold, there was Crobot.
One little=known talent of intergalactic brain-eating spiders is that they are actually very good at plumbing. Once those little spaces are panelled over, they will squeeze their hairy little bodies into those dark voids and wait for Chris to take a shower. It won't be the cold water that will make him scream.
Good lord' The strike of a great white lasts a mere second ,and the duck was gone . 🥶
scary stuff...what is going on down there ?
Bex how do you put up with him good job he as you well done on all your hard work and the lights look lovely 😊
im terrible....run as far as you can 😂
@@TheNomadicCrobot sorry man you do support her well in your own way just shows she loves . You just look after her she still might kill you but that is the risk of love lol 😂
Could been a snapping turtle they can pull a duck under and there in the canals in uk now 😢
scary stuff
We went to crick on Bank Holiday Monday. Even placed an order with titan canopies for our boat. Did we see crobot?? No! GUTTED!!!!
Great company you won't be disappointed , so sorry about crick we will get there one year fingers crossed
will they ever go cruising ,its the big question that grips the nation lol
thats the big question 🤔🤔
Have you fixed the hole in the water tank?
no not yet unfortunately
Have seen your videos before and have subscribe to you now from my channel
Thank you is much ❤️😊
Sir Chris notalot you put the kettle on if it’s not to complicated 😂😂😂😂❤❤
cmon....it was done it a very professional way 😂
🥰You Guys, Great Work Keep It Up 🥰
Thanks John ❤️😊
Your plumbing is sound ...... Change your mains gate valve though... They are crap ..
Use a 15mm level value, their also full bore with a longer life expectancy....x
Thank you so much for the advice x
@@TheNomadicCrobot xxx
is the hot water under any pressure as the shower head will be above the tank?
Thanks for the advice I did wonder about this, ill let Bex know
Big pike took the duck
😢😢
Gonna try Chris's washing up technique, what could go wrong? By the way, what's Cruella going to do for food when you start CCing,?
I never thought of that...maybe we will have to eat her then 😂😂
@@TheNomadicCrobot Noooo!!! Some boat tubers have dogs, some have cats, take Cruella with you as your mascot. Cheers Simon of Suffolk.
Thanks
Thank you so much for this so incredibly kind of you ❤️
Water is lazy, it takes the path of least resistance. I can’t see that running the cold water pipework to the calorifier then running the cold back will make any difference as the calorifier has a thermostatic mixing valve built in.
Its a valid point, Were doing as instructed so fingers crossed it works out
Well now we know who really lays pipe.
❤️❤️
Pike or Zander will take ducks
woaw
Is it me or does Bex eyes light up everytime hot shower is mentioned………….
she hasn't washed for 3 years
The Duck has gone into the realms of the UNDERWATER UNIVERSE WHERE HE CAN TRAVEL ACROSS THE GLOBE IN A PARALLEL UNIVERSE, WHERE HE CAN JUMP BETWEEN THE UPLANDS AND UNDER LANDS. AND GET WET.
no thats not a bad way at looking at it, and very positive too....that makes for a far better story than it being a possible large fish
Pipes runs through the length of the boat. Spider Superhighway!
oh brilliant 😂😂
Xx
Bex I love fairy lights too! We have them on our stairs rail switched on all year round. At Xmas we have lots all around the house which stay up all year but only switched on at Xmas. Outside in our yard we have solar lights which come on every night if they've received enought sun during the day, led rope lights and other solar lights, I love them. Free lights from the sun!
You can do it lady bexi bot 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪🫡
go Bexxxxx ❤️
Oh dear! Sounds like a very big pike grabbed that poor duck.
it does look like it 😢
