    Japan could have won WW2 if they had a Long Yari Wall blocking the two nukes

    Long Yari is basically what people thought the pikemens in Rome 2 would be like instead of completely op version of subgod humans.

      Remember, the pikemen always fight in super enclosed city blocks so it's very predictable how most engagements are going to go

    The final combat xD. Whoever has doubts after watching this video about which is the best infantry unit in the game, he should go to the priquiatrist.

    Imagine training your entire life in the way of the warrior only for some peasant boy with a long stick to kill you.
    There was a reason why it was the pike and crossbow that ended the age of chivalry in Europe.

      Not really. It was the centralization of the state making knights less cost-effective and politically impractical, as they at their core, were meant as a highly elite high mobility force made of local nobility. Remember, their tactics survived even during WW1, with big men in armor mounted on big horses charging.
      After all, pikes and crossbows had existed since the ancient greeks.
      Essentially, as gunpowder weapons became more powerful, the armor required to protect against them became more expensive (the term bulletproof does originate from armourers shooting a cuirass with a gun, and marking the dent as proof that it could protect against bullets). And as the state had taken it upon themselves to equip many of the soldiers now, it simply became less practical to give them the full harness of proper knights, who gradually kept becoming less and less cost effective.
      With less armor on the man and horse, they became more vulnerable to the pike, forcing them to become more selective with their targets and flanking became more important.
      Another fun tidbit: The term musket originally referred to an extra heavy infantry gun, dedicated to penetrate armor, as the regular arquebuses were often insufficent. However, guns of that power gradually became the standard with technological advancements

      @@liszarezo3658 Nah, for the Romans it was their big shields letting them close the distance. For the Landsknhechts it was combined arms. A pike square did also involve halberds, greatswords and so on. With the role of the Greatswords was to help beat aside enemy pikes and then go in with carnage. They were usually very well paid, and heavily armoured

  • @_JOJ_
    @_JOJ_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes but when you go behind them they lose morale very quick. In the early game i usually keep around 2 katana samurai around my flanks and then just go behind them with swordsmen while they are busy fighting with the levies, i brake the flanks quickly and i free up lots of troops to deal with the rest of the army.
    This tactic has worked very efficiently for me. You usually end up encircling all their melee units and kill all of them.
    Just keep an eye for their cavalry and for their reserves (if they have any).
    If they have cavalry or reserves i put 2 ashigaru units on the flanks to cover the samurai.

    This is what spears, pikes, and polearmed units from every Total War games should do that they keep their spears down and thrusting them before and after the enemy charges. Not switching to swords until enemy charges to them just like what happens in Empire game. I think that there is a flaw within the coding system of the spear units.
