I personally love that you manage to combine RLJ with all the Jon is the sword of the morning language, as that was always the part that kept me on the fence on this issue.
I believe it was Mance Ryder's meddling in the north, turning over graves and attempting to find and use the horn of joramun, that influenced the others to become aggressive.
Neds valyrian sword = black ice. Jon dreams of being armored in black ice. Euron has a valyrian suit of armor. Am i thinking too hard about this? Probably. Would be cool though.
well, about Dawn... I‘m not quite sure if I understood you correctly, but if some chunks of the ice moon landed on Planetos they would probably consist of rock. They‘re from the surface of the moon. So unless the whole ice moon is made of magic metal - which might be -, I don‘t think it would be great sword material. I always thought that swords like „Dawn“ and the original „Ice“ were simply the „dragonsteel“ mentioned in Sam‘s old books (that might as well be just Valyrian steel, I only thought the last time fighting the Others may have been before Valyrian swords were available in Westeros). And you had that wonderful „Great Empire of the Dawn“ video together with „History of Westeros“, so these swords might be normal GEotD-steel? Anyway, I really do like your voice ;) and thanks for sharing all that stuff with us :)
Eris 79 Hey Eris. So, here we are brushing up against the limits of scientific practicality for ASOIAF - what were the moon meteors made from exactly? It's hard to say. I actually looked into real "ice moons" (like Europa) and real molten fire moons (like Io). Ice moons have a thick crust of Ice and frozen rock, beneath that a global cold water or methane ocean, and a rocky core. So the crust could actually be some level ice, or at least frozen rock. But think about this in terms of symbolism - it's the idea of "icy rock" that is important. We don't have to get too technical, you know? Dawn could well be made of metal, just metal magically associated with ice because of its ice moon origin. Or something more like magical ice, perhaps, but probably not because it's never described as cold. But if a Stark or an ice-wight Stark like resurrected Jon held it... As far as Dragonsteel being a proto-Valyrian steel, that idea is alive and well. :) Thing is, that could be talking about the "black swords" - like V steel - OR the white sword known as Dawn, which I call Ice Dragon-steel. We've also seen morning light symbolism tied to Longclaw and Ned's Ice, so as I always say, it's really hard to tell who had the black sword and who the white sword in the original clashes.
You meant an „iron core“, I suppose? Concerning Io. Well, for symbolism „icy rock“ might do the job, but technically it‘s still horrible stuff for a sword :P (and just because I‘ve spent some time thinking about it: If a Stark or Stark-wight held such a sword, what would I do if were an Other? Either I would invite him for a cup of very cold ice tea (as you do with long lost kin) or I‘d send a hundred wights to rip off his arms. But I‘m only an old girl and know little and less about such things.)
It funny I also used to think that Night King in the Show was gonna turn out to be either Aegon or Rhygar and Euron had been like a necromancer allied with the others or white walkers
I love your videos and have watched them all. I just have one question. Wouldn’t a dragon locked in ice be frozen fire, therefore dragon glass or in other words since obsidian is a stone, dragon stone making Jon the stone dragon? Everything else still works with this change, I just don’t think fire and ice combine to make ice :) (dragons only, obviously the sun spear creating frozen fire, and splintering off ice pieces are simultaneous events!) Oh, and your wake the dragon video caused me to spot the first half of the third alchemical wedding. I am anxiously awaiting your take on that.
LML, you talked about the similarities between Dawn and the description of the others bones. Have you ever considered that Dawn may be forged from the bones of an ice or other dragon? The magic of both ice and fire sustaining and preserving it.
Enjoyed Gemma’s readings with her middle earth accent. Question 1 : Does every man that takes the Nights watch vows become an orphan? Question 2: Are there any other combination house sigils or words that have been foreshadowed ? Eg Stark/Arryn : winged wolf under a crescent moon. Stark/Baratheon : Ours is the winter. Question 3 : Is Sansa going to transform from her dark meteor appearance to night queen ? If so what’s see going to do about her hair ? ( I have a thought on this )
Bro I watch a very theory, R+L=D (Dany) & B+A=J(Brandon Stark+Ashara Dayne=Jon Snow). So I came here. happy to see, our fav baby Jon is safe is in your hands. 😂 Tell me this is lie, this is not true.
I personally do not think those theories hold water, but you kind of have to go over all the timelines and details to sort it out. I’ll tell you though, “it’s a lie. It’s not true.” 😆
fasheema scott exactly. I don't know how much D&D thought about the technical, but on a basic level, the Others have ALWAYS been presented as "the burning cold" by way of their blue star eyes. The blue fire was a no brainer. I am curious whether that blue fire would catch something on fire or just like obliterate them.
Yeah, honestly she is very hard to listen to for me. It sounds very sterile and without feeling. It's not a narrative but.. as if every sentence were a bullet point in a list.
Please use a better reader next time. Secrets of the Citadel may be good at being an other channel on ASOFIAF, but she makes a lousy reader. Totally gets in the way of immersion.
No wonder GRRM takes eons to write TWOW

Love that flamenco guitar, John Walsh :)
OMG it's secrets of the citadel!
and omg the lady reads even worse than on her own channel.
Sorry.
I believe it was Mance Ryder's meddling in the north, turning over graves and attempting to find and use the horn of joramun, that influenced the others to become aggressive.
Going back watching these videos is funny. The format is very History of Westeros style. I'm glad your newer videos allow you personality to show.
Man, the comments... Gemma reads fine, and Jon was imaculately conceived. J+J=J. Just kidding! G(J?)emma does read fine though.
LML + Secrets of the Citadel is better than, R+L=J

What a great way to start the day 🔥🔥❄️🌒⚔️
its not just a dickjoke, though. best quote! :D
highon crack I mean, it IS that, but it's not JUST that
This is the first time someone brings up elia martel when talking about r+l I really enjoy it
I love Gemma! Thanks again!
Thank you, I so needed this today!
Beautifully done good sir!
By far the closest to my own interpretation of the text. Looking forward to your next post.
Yay been waiting for this

I wish she wouldn't butcher the text like that. It's painful to hear her read

Is it me or does Gemma (is that how you spell it?) sound like Barbra Streisand?
Mawwrridge.... fucking lost it
Woot
the british woman doing the readings makes them sound like news reports :(
