    Isn't her voice just to die for? Smooth as silk. People made cracks about this song being whiny and self-pitying in the comments below Aquarius. I don't agree. It's just sad. That's more than allowed. If not, every blues song ever written would come under attack.

    • @DrMackSplackem
      @DrMackSplackem 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I find that a weird take. I don't find it particularly cloying or sappy in any way. It's a standard breakup-themed lyric set to swing ballad formula, not so different from countless others going back to the big band era. What sets it apart for me is the superior emotional content and totally killer technique.

    I’m 60 and IMO, I grew up in the best era of music variety. I was able to enjoy classical, big band, jazz, soul, 50’s, 60’s than the 70’s with easy and heavy rock along with Motown and then the long hair 80’s through the 90’s then grunge and into today. These were talented bands and groups that had to make their own sound, not “Sample” or borrow from others. Wow, what a ride!

    The 5th dimension was one of hand fill of LPs my dad played on repeat when I was growing up. The smooth vocals are just amazing.

    The 5th Dimension were renown for their harmonies. They were a balm, a salve for the time. Style. Smooth. Sophistication.

    One of my favorite songs from the Fifth Dimension and maybe not well known is "Love's Lines, Angles and Rhymes" . Marilyn McCoo is an excellent singer and her breath control is amazing in that song. Very tough to sing.(I also love Ashes to Ashes).

    Marilyn McCoo, the lead singer, had one of the most gorgeous voices of the 60s and 70s. She is still beautiful, too. Such a gift the 5th Dimension and Marilyn McCoo were.

    Marilyn was and IS amazing. Fantastic group that brings wonderful memories-as does your Rush poster! I had the same one in high school 😊 Check out Tavares some day. They were of that era and had some amazing, percussion-heavy soul/r&b.
    Love watching your joy!

    I loved the 5th Dimension, and Marilyn McCoo is one of the greatest legendary singers in my opinion. They exemplified the standard and level of talent you had to have back then to be able to sing and perform. I had forgotten that Soul Train had been around long enough to have had them on the show.

    The 5th Dimension's "One Less Bell To Answer" came out in 1970, I was 9 years old and I remember hearing it on the am radio station as well as "Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In", the woman singing lead in this song is Marilyn Mccoo, later she and her husband Billy Davis Jr. left the group and went on their own, they had a couple of pretty good songs, "You Don't Have To Be A Star" and "Last Night I didn't Get To Sleep At All", back in the 70's. This brings back some memories, thanks!

    Jamel Jamal - - Thanks for starting my day with a smile! I've probably heard this song 70 times but it was a joy to share it with you.
    She's much more than fine! From someone of my generation, Marilyn is one of the prettiest & most beautiful (there's a difference -- pretty is just the outside) women EVER. Marilyn and Suzanne Pleshette: two of the shining lights of my gen. I'm looking forward to wearing one of your Hoodie. Spread the love
