We drove from OKC to Russellville, Arkansas for the eclipse. They had 4 minutes and 13 seconds of Totality, with clear skies and it was AMAZING! “It’s something you can’t understand until you experience it” - YES!!!! 100%. I was so worried I’d be like, “That’s it?!” NOPE! It was so freakin awesome!
We were in Northern VT and I've been telling people this all day! But you're right. Can't understand unless you experience it. People must have thought I was nuts 🙂
Was lucky enough to see a total eclipse in TN 2017 and NY on Monday! Even seeing it before I’m still just as blown away! Pics and vids can never replicate your naked eye experience and it’s so hard to explain to someone who’s never seen one before, why it’s so special. The Grand Canyon is similar in that way, if you’ve never seen it before. I’ve been to Niagara Falls many times and was planning to view there originally, but it’s always potentially cloudy there so had clear skies on the NY VT border. I’m glad you guys had a great time!
Hello fellow umbraphille, I have relatives all along the totality path. I passed over the chance with my nephew in Oklahoma. Just like your pov, it was 100% viewing conditions. Our pov at St Catherine's 40 miles west of Niagara Falls was heavily clouded over with lucky breaks for brief but timely glimpses. Hope to see it again in Spain 2026.
I drove from Michigan down about 170 miles to Indiana. I'd seen partial eclipses before and full lunar, but not anything like this. Just. Wow. At 66 very little impresses me. But when I could look at the sun during totality without glasses, I found myself stomping around an abandoned church lot in the middle of nowhere yelling , HOLY SH*T! over and over and over again. 2044, Baby!
@@ThroughMyLens My 7th most viewed video of all time is how to photograph the eclipse on your phone. And now NO ONE will ever watch it again! Yours will live in. It's a great timepiece of a fantastic day.
@@PhotowalksTV After trying to photograph the eclipse on my phone, I came to the realization that probably no phone camera is good enough and you would really need to spend thousands of dollars to capture what your own eyes can see as accurately as possible
@@johng5710 I actually thought the camera phone photos, while inferior to cameras and telescopes, did an amazing job when you consider that the sun and moon are so many miles away from us.
Skipped class and drove from Pittsburgh, PA to Shelby, OH to see the totality and it was totally worth it. We didn’t plan well, so we ended up enjoying 3 minutes and 40 seconds of totality under clear skies after pulling into a church parking lot in the middle of nowhere in the absolute last second.
My wife and I were gonna srive down to Niagara Falls Canada, but realized its overcast, so we stayed closer to home, about an hour north. Sky cleared right up 30 min before totality. What an amazing experience!
I'm a photographer in the Finger Lakes region of New York (3 hours to Niagara), and I an attest that every time a celestial event comes along, we have clouds and or rain. It's kind of the joke of the place. Great video! Keep them coming! I loved your Alaska Highway vid too!
We heard so much about people going too Niagara's falls so thanks for capturing it for us. Go from the west coast of Canada where we didn't see it at all.
Dallas here! We fought the clouds all day but had a clearing right as totality hit. We were on a roof top and it was amazing! We partied on the roof tops for the rest of the day.
We flew with some friends who have a small airplane, from Minnesota to Southern Illinois, we took in the site in the middle of corn fields. It was clear with no clouds, saw the full eclipse, well worth the trip!
Amazing!! Even though it was cloudy, you guys experienced the day turn into night. Then back into day again within a matter of minutes. What an experience! Here in California, it was sunny but we never got more than a quarter of the sun being blocked.
I saw the total eclipse in my front yard near Cleveland, OH. It was absolutely incredible!!! My husband and I agreed that we would travel just to experience it again. Once in a lifetime opportunity and I’ll never forget it. I’m sorry you didn’t get to see the totality part but glad you got the experience nonetheless!
I actually drove out of Buffalo, NY down to Ashtabula, OH because I was worried the cloud cover would have been too thick. Would've preferred to have stayed in Buffalo, but I found a park alongside Lake Erie with clear skies, so I'd say it was totally worth it.
There were high clouds in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, but there were many breaks in the clouds that offered unobstructed views. During totality, at my location, a thick cloud rolled in totally blocking the view for a minute or so then moved out of the way just before totality ended offering a clear view long enough to see the corona and snap a few photos. That was the crown jewel to add to the annular eclipse that I saw in Midland, Texas last October.
We saw the totality just outside Dallas and we had the opposite experience. Partly cloudy during the partial stage, with the sun coming in and out of view, but often times behind the clouds, but a minute before totality it cleared up and we saw the totality for nearly 4 1/2 minutes unobstructed. Sorry you couldn't experience the totality like that but it's nice that you guys could experience it together with others as well. The communal aspect really made it even more special. Most mind blowing experience ever.
We were on the lake shore at the PA/Ohio state line. The sky cleared just as totality started. It went from light to dark like someone turned off a switch. There was an orange sunset glow that extended 360 degrees along the entire horizon. AMAZING. I was not able to get any great pics but at 67 years, I really only cared about being there and sharing the experience with my wife, Pam! Totality was awe. The moon's shadow was like death overtaking life, and the halo around that dark disc was heavenly and when the diamond ring appeared it was the moment you are positive that rebirth is not a fairytale. We turned to walk back to our car just to see an American Bald Eagle swoop by. I wasn't sure we picked the best spot, but I trust my wife and she never disappoints!
We traveled from our home state of Alabama & saw it from the small town of Russell, Arkansas. The weather was just about perfect. I shot video but was unprepared - no filter nor tripod. There was a huge solar flare that was very obvious to the naked eye. It got very dark there. My video falls short of showing what we actually saw. Awesome video on your part! I love your videos, keep up the good work.
We saw the Eclipse outside Del Rio, TX. It was clouded on/off, but the clouds broke up for a part of the totality ... a great experience! In 2017 we saw the Eclipse in Wyoming, completely cloud free ... that was awesome 👍 Best regards, from a long time Danish viewer of your channels
What an amazing place to watch the eclipse! Too bad about the clouds, but it seems you made the best of things regardless. We drove 1 1/2 hours from where we live to the small town of Markle, IN (just south of Fort Wayne). We arrived about 2 hours before totality. We set up our lawn chairs and waited for the show. By the time the sun was totally obscured, there were about 75 people in the park with us. We had a few high clouds, but they did not block the event at all. It was amazing, eerie, and awesome. The photos I took of the actual eclipse didn't really turn out that well, but the experience was one we will treasure for years to come...
We saw the totality in our backyard in Central Indiana. It was amazing. The day before and the day after were cloudy. We had the perfect spot on a perfect warm, sunny day. All we had to do was look up with the eclipse glasses I got from a library. Loved it!
Another great video. So cheerful, you really captured your experience, and how cool to see the falls in the eclipse darkness. We drove to north of Plattsburgh and were blessed with over 3 minutes of totality with full corona. It was unforgettable. Very emotional. That corona...I will never think of the sun the same way again. One thing we noticed is that leading to and during the darkness the colors were so different, and seeing the stars was incredible. And afterwards the southbound traffic was WILD...like the 405 on a very bad day for 8 hours with no relief. Luckily we knew backroads, but even with that, what should have taken 2 1/4 hours only took 5.
Thank you for your upload. We purposely avoided Niagara Falls and awaited the totality at St Catherine's about 40 miles west. We were more fortunate how the breaks in the heavy cloud cover from our pov showed the diamond rings, pre- and post-, and the totality itself. It was SO COOL, for first timers. I was bitterly disappointed about the untimely cloud cover, since I had perfect viewing conditions in Rexburg, Idaho in 2017. "If you were near a totality...." I completely agree with you. My wife and I flew 2000 miles from Calgary. My sister flew 2700 miles from Vancouver Island. My nephew from Toronto drove thru a 3 hour traffic jam back to Toronto, twice the usual traffic jam. But, just like you, we visited friends, family etc etc
We had same situation in Dallas. I sat in my backyard and once I saw shadows on the ground I put on my glasses and looked up to see the progression. Fortunately the clouds opened frequently. I got to see totality through thin clouds about 60% of the time. Definitely a once in a lifetime event for me at age 70. OR maybe I'll go to Spain with you next year. LOL
Ha! Amazed you made this so quick! I was down the road in Fort Niagara. You were literally behind me when you were filming the fireworks. I was sitting at a table with a friend watching the fireworks from the same vantage point. Hope you guys get to explore more of NY on this trip. Safe travels!
How cool was that to experience the eclipse from the phenomenal Niagara Falls! I got to experience the total eclipse in 1979 from my 9th grade first period history class. We couldn’t have seen the actual eclipse cuz we didn’t have the special glasses and it was super cloudy cuz it was in WA where I grew up. But experiencing sunrise then the eclipse then daylight again was pretty cool. We watched the actual eclipse on tv. This year I watched it during my lunch hour online in northern Maine. Brought back great memories and they actually had blue skies. Glad you got to experience it. Thanks for posting. As always 😊
Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm in Portland Oregon, and we had clouds as well. But we got to see a lot more of it.The darker clouds came through once in a while and obscured it.But we only got about a third of the eclipse from the bottom but it was still exciting to watch and I watched it on t v all the way across the At country. Thanks again
I live in Syracuse. It was cloudy and I didn't see much until the total eclipse. You are so right; the best part was the total darkness. So unique and difficult to describe, and so worth it. Welcome to NY!
Wish I knew you were coming!! Sorry for your visit. We had beautiful weather for 2 days before and 2 hours after the Eclipse the clouds were gone. Most people drove to Ohio that morning….Really enjoy your content, thank you.
Memorable trip just the same. The Niagara Falls area has some great people in the surrounding communities on both sides however most of your crowd would have been tourists of course. Great to see people have fun and just truly appreciate such a rare event. Thanks for sharing.
This was the most memorizing experience to have man i live right in niagara falls and have never got to see something so amazing when the crowd starting cheering them everyone went silent to not hear the birds chirping
OMG! Welcome to Canada! We were just down the way on Lake Erie at a conservation area watching. It was awesome! I can't believe how dark it got at totality. There were cottages down the way doing fireworks for the 4 or so minutes we had. Amazing!
We live in an area that was due for 97%. But ten miles away our friends had totality for 2.5 minutes. So we invited ourselves over for lunch. The clouds broke just in time to see totality. It was amazing.
This video was totally cool having been able to experience the 2024 Total Eclipse in Niagara Falls. We never saw it fr where I’m watching from - Antioch CA Thanks for sharing, Josh!!!
I drove from the Kingston Pennsylvania area to Pulaski New York on Lake Ontario. There was a break in the clouds at totality and the eclipse was unbelievable. Despite the 6-hour drive home because of the traffic it was totally worth it!
We only got to see a partial eclipse where we live, but even though it was cloudy, it looks like it was so awesome to see this in person!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Watched it in Southern Indiana near Bloomington (drove down from NW Indiana)...perfectly clear skies and 75 degrees, 4 minutes of unobscured totality...amazing experience (I wouldn't say "life changing" like some are saying LOL) and couldn't have asked for a more perfect day! If I had to describe it, it looked like a glowing white ring in a dark sky (but not as dark as a typical night sky at all) above and looked like the sun had just set below the western horizon at the same time. It was dark enough for street lights to turn on. Four minutes later, it was just like another normal sunny afternoon once the sun started to re-emerge.
I live about an hour east of Niagara Falls and had a similar experience. Our cloud cover was denser so we didn't see the sun at all, and while that was a major disappointment, you could see the shadow coming and then leaving on the clouds. I don't know if that transition would be the same in a clear sky. It was still a special experience!
I appreciate how positive you were about the clouds. I am sorry that happened. Seeing the darkness fall over Niagara Falls like that I have to say was pretty amazing. I live in NY's Hudson Valley Region that wasn't in totality. I was planning to see the eclipse in Plattsburgh, NY. A very informative eclipse chat that I was in said that clouds were to roll in just around the time of totality. I did some research and saw that Vermont had a better chance of being without clouds at totality. I saw the eclipse in Richford, VT. It was amazing. It was my second eclipse. I saw the 2017 eclipse at Clemson University.
Game time decision Saturday night after closely monitoring the weather I drove with my family from NYC to Vermont and then Plattaburg, NY instead of Niagra. Not to rain on anyone's parade but the weather turned out PERFECT. We got to see the eclipse plus totality it was amazing and I AGREE: if you are close, it's something you have to check out in person. Thanks for this vid!!!!
We flew from California to Austin TX and then drove and stayed near Johnson City. We attended a viewing party at my cousins friend's house near Fredericksburg. We also had broken cloud but got many glimpses as the moon crossed in front of the sun. We had almost 4 1/2 minutes of totality. It was a once in a life time experience - especially going into and then coming out of the darkness. Coming out of totality, we saw the twilight start to the south of us and then daylight move over us like a wave. We drove back to Austin on Tuesday in rain, thankful it had held off for one more day. Sorry Josh but we stayed a a boutique hotel that was part of a winery in the Texas Hill country which cost us "only" $600 per night with wine tasting included.
Glad you guys came over to the Canadian side. Much better. We had the same eclipse experience in Toronto but great never the less ❤keep up the great videos
We had the same experience in Bandera, TX. We only got glimpses of the partial because of the clouds and didn't get to see the totality at all, but it got SOOO dark, fireflies came out and we watched that for over 4 minutes! We got to see the annular one in Oct and the total in 2017, so I'm not complaining!
Cool video despite the clouds--a unique place to view it. We just sat in our driveway as most of our neighborhood did in SE Indiana and I must admit it was much better than I had anticipated. Now I understand all the hype.
We were in Niagara too. Booked more than a year ago. We ended up going to a vineyard to avoid the crowds they had predicted. I was disappointed by the clouds but the sun peaked out at the right time and were able to see the corona.
That was really cool. I'm in SoCal so we only got the partial eclipse which was still pretty neat. Yes, go to Spain for the next eclipse! Thanks for sharing this video.
I'm not far from Buffalo. I'm glad I flew back to my mom's to see it. It ended up being a beautiful day there. This was my second eclipse and it was just as amazing as the first time. Definitely, something you have to see.
Great video! Too bad about the clouds, but at least you were able to see some of the eclipse, plus hang out at Niagra Falls. My son and his family drove from central California to Dallas for the eclipse and to see some friends who had moved there. He caught a break because the clouds cleared for several hours and he got some really nice photos of totality, including prominences and the corona, plus the ingress and egress phases. At least five members of my astronomy club travelled to various locations to see the eclipse. Of the five that I know about, three had clear weather during totality with some clouds before and after the eclipse, one had partially cloudy skies (better than your skies), and one was completely clouded out. Unfortunately, circumstances prevented my wife and me from making a trip to see totality (we had thought about going to Waco, TX). Fortunately, my wife and I saw the 2017 total solar eclipse from Rexburg, ID. We also travelled for both the 2012 and 2023 annular solar eclipses, which are also fun events even though they aren't as good as a total eclipse. I had planned a short trip to Grand Canyon National Park to get a better partial eclipse than I could get in Fresno (67% max vs. 50% max), but as time drew near, the forecast changed to 100% cloud cover at South Rim, so I cancelled my reservations a couple days ahead of the event. Instead, I set up two telescopes (8" and 11" diameter) at my church so that church staff and some friends that I invited could view the partial eclipse and see some sunspots. About 25 people came by to look.
I was watching the nationwide weather forecasts for weeks and finally went with Niagara Falls just a few days before the event. So many clouds, but it was still well worth the trip. We will travel to Spain in August of 2026 to watch the next one there.
As always, great job! We planned out eclipse trip a year ago also but we looked at the normal cloud cover for the path of the eclipse and picked Mazatlan, Mexico. Viewing the totality is worth the trip. See you in Spain!
I was also at the Falls on the New York side. The sun was teasing us all day, amazing experience !! I drove 400 miles to see this big moment, the part that I liked the most it was when it got really cold and dark. Hope to see the eclipse again in 2026 in Portugal or Spain.
I travelled to Niagara falls and was right next to horseshoe falls during the eclipse. Amazing experience but really wished the clouds weren't there. Also, i definitely felt the same way about the clear skies right after the eclipse and was dying slightly on the inside, lol. Still grateful for the great time!
We flew from So. Cal. to DFW to see the eclipse and visit friends. We had on and off clouds. We made the best of it too. It was an amazing experience. TFS ❤🥰
We drove from Arizona to Fort Worth Texas to see the eclipse. The weather forecast wasn't very promising, but we ended up having clear skies. It was amazing!
My family and I traveled from Florida to Niagara Falls too! With the exception of going to the US side, this was essentially the same experience we had. I may or may not be hooked, but I might go to Spain to catch the next eclipse too. 😅
Wow...truly incredible...I think, as a photographer, that it would create amazing photos even WITH the clouds...actually kinda different. I wish I coulda been somewhere it was happening, I may not be here for the next one in 20yrs or so. The energy levels in the crowds I've seen online I bet felt awesome...kinda like it is at some rock concerts when there's positive energy around...and I'm not a "energy" guru person...just definitely can feel that kind when it happens!
Great video, we saw it from WV, where it was about 94% and got some great picts. Clouds here weren't as thick and actually added some depth to the pictures I thought. But didn't get totally dark like your video, that looked pretty cool!

So glad you got to see it as well!! It was pretty awesome!
I live in Syracuse. It was cloudy and I didn't see much until the total eclipse. You are so right; the best part was the total darkness. So unique and difficult to describe, and so worth it. Welcome to NY!
AWESOME!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The perfect word to describe this experience.
Sorry about your experience… we were in southeastern Illinois in 3 1/2 minutes of totality and it was perfect!!!
So cool, fantastic, thanks for sharing
This was the most memorizing experience to have man i live right in niagara falls and have never got to see something so amazing when the crowd starting cheering them everyone went silent to not hear the birds chirping
OMG! Welcome to Canada! We were just down the way on Lake Erie at a conservation area watching. It was awesome! I can't believe how dark it got at totality. There were cottages down the way doing fireworks for the 4 or so minutes we had. Amazing!
This is awesome! We didnt get to see it since we're in South America right now, but this looks so cool! Great video.
We never saw it fr where I’m watching from - Antioch CA
Thanks for sharing, Josh!!!
I drove from the Kingston Pennsylvania area to Pulaski New York on Lake Ontario. There was a break in the clouds at totality and the eclipse was unbelievable. Despite the 6-hour drive home because of the traffic it was totally worth it!
Love your videos
Thanks for watching!
It was a cool experience for sure! I was in Fredericksburg, TX and it was pretty cloudy too. Looking forward to the next one!
Saw the eclipse in Dierks, AR.Clouds all day then it magically cleared up and we got to experience totality.Amazing!
We only got to see a partial eclipse where we live, but even though it was cloudy, it looks like it was so awesome to see this in person!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for sharing!
Awesome awesome sharing dear friend ❤️
Really enjoyed watching and
Thanks for sharing this with us
See you again keep intouch ❤️😊
Burlington Vermont was all ☀️ perfect weather for the totality
Got lucky here in Austin that the clouds blew over during the totality! Was very cloudy right before as well down here.
Excellent/ spectacular video🎉Amy your smile❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That was really cool. I'm in SoCal so we only got the partial eclipse which was still pretty neat. Yes, go to Spain for the next eclipse! Thanks for sharing this video.
I live in Niagara Falls too. It was magical.
We were in Niagara on Sunday too! We drove south to try and avoid clouds on Monday but it didn’t work out. Still a cool experience even with clouds.
So awesome! I bet it was amazing down there! See you in Spain’
I was also at the Falls on the New York side. The sun was teasing us all day, amazing experience !!
I drove 400 miles to see this big moment, the part that I liked the most it was when it got really cold and dark.
Hope to see the eclipse again in 2026 in Portugal or Spain.
Your oldest fan was thrilled that I ran into you. 😊 She said she can't wait to watch your next adventure!
TFS ❤🥰
We flew to Dallas and watched the eclipse with our friends. It was slightly cloudy but most of the time we could see the sun. Was worth the trip.
It's ok my trip to Niagara Falls was extremely foggy. Couldn't it even see the falls 🤷♂️
Oh no! What a bummer
It totally feels like a rock concert with the energy of the crowds! There is one in Spain in a few years someone was telling me
Amazing!!!
Thanks for watching!
Very nice. Thanks for sharing…!
Thanks for watching!
Great video, we saw it from WV, where it was about 94% and got some great picts. Clouds here weren't as thick and actually added some depth to the pictures I thought. But didn't get totally dark like your video, that looked pretty cool!
So cool! I bet it was still an amazing experience!
Should have came to Cleveland. No clouds at all and we saw it all ☀️🌑😎
85% totality where I was. Was walking the neighborhood on a sunny day but had no idea it had even happened. Couldn’t tell.
Hey Josh hey Pops and family I love to watch you guys I watch you all the time watching from Jamaica🙏❤
We had a eclipse party in South Carolina had about 81% eclipse
Really cool, been to Niagara Falls very amazing 👍
Saw it in Indiana! Love your video!
I saw the total eclipse in 2017 it was really cool it was mostly cloudy in that region but we found a break in the clouds and we were able to see it.
Great Josh
Well done! I live ten miles from Niagara Falls, NY.
Great Captures😅
Excellent coverage, as ALWAYS... That's simply amazing. ☀️ 🌙 🌚 We had a pretty good view in New England. 🎆
Glad you enjoyed it as well! I heard New England was one of the best stops to see it from!
Watched from s/w Ohio Awesome experience !!! Thanks for sharing your day.
What a cool experience! Looks way more fun than my setup in Central Florida lol.
So cool Josh and Amy!! Great video! Hope the ice cream was great and the sunset also!❤️😀🇺🇸🌑🌏🌖🌗
We were in Erie, PA (not too far from Niagara Falls) and we got lucky to have the clouds part just in time for totality🎉
Something about 'best laid plans'...but I agree that experiencing the shadow is a very cool thing.
