I do a mix of bounties, bunkers and boarding action, it gives me the most 'active' gameplay I can find and that's what I enjoy the most, it feels like my character is a real bounty hunter/mercenary doing what comes up to earn a paycheck.
I’d like to hear what you think of salvage. Granted that the version on the ptu is potentially pending balance, but i find it’s good cash and it can be mixed in with bounty hunting or mining or piracy for more variety in your game loops. My experience as a long lime backer has also been that attempting to grind a game loop you don’t like will not yield a great bounty of credits. It tends to yield a funk in which i don’t play star citizen for a while. That’s why i think it’s best to remain flexible, remember that there’s a game loop to make a lot of different things profitable, and just do whatever sounds fun at the time. If you’re mining and a security npc gets on your nerves, it’s totally fine to blast him and take a trip to kareah: it’s a game, and if that’s how you want to have fun, go for it. As long as your fun isn’t directly generated from ruining other people’s fun. Then the correct course would be to go play star marine and contemplate your life.
I always bounce between bounties and mining. Lately I have been making a killing from the "cave" bounties because of all the dolvine they carry. The most I made one time was 178k from a 40 minute mission.
In 3.18 you will also be able to loot soft death NPC ships, grab the armor and weapons from their pilots, so no need to do ground missions if only need some basic stuff.
@@flamebreaker7318 boarding npc ships is child's play and boring AF, I'd rather do bunkers where there are more npc's to present a slightly better challenge and come out of it with more loot. If you want boarding action, better of being a pirate or taking missions like the reclaimer mission.

I tell every new member to our org that bounty hunting is best for earning. You risk nothing, and practice piloting skills. Once you get into a groove the earning is unmatched
I love it all bounty hunting mining exploring or just floating in zero G. But I can make WAY more money within a hour without a high risk factor that you have in bounty hunting and the trips refueling and repairing. Close to 800,000 auec with roc mining. If it's for grinding money you will only make so much with bounties. But that's the beauty in this verse. Having options. o7
very good money maker missions are Combat assist beacons VHRT beacons can go up to 300k per mission, but u need a lot ot firepower for taking down Hammerheads. But if u have torpedoes, u can make millions a day. Edit: I do have a carrack for those
What are your pc specs i have a pretty high end pc and im still experiencing some lag on this game and i was wondering if you had any tips to improve fps?
Instead of Bunkers the 899j missions are so good. There'd typically always one active around New Bab, take like 10 minutes and if you stop the transmission nets like 55k.
Doing ERTs with the eclipse right now. Maybe 5 min avarage time per mission for 30k each. Really enjoy it for a change of pace but mining is still the most profitable. Like you say, just doing what is fun for you atm and enjoying the game is the way to go :)

@@jetsimmer Gladius is a light fighter, ultra agile, I love to fly it with HOSAS. Sentinel is heavy figher not so responsive as Gladius and and you will lose a lot of firepower if you fly alone, but it is a second best choise if you fly with a friend.

Cargo hauling is great if you have a huge ship and money. I make about 200k every 15ish minutes running a C2 and putting an initial 1m uec down for the cargo
Yeah but fresh off a wipe that is a monstrous investment lol. Even if you pledged a 400 dollar + herc you still have to have to uac to start the trucking.

In complete opposition to most players, I find bounty hunting very boring and prefer trading/mining etc. It is not that it is too easy, the early levels are too easy but the later ones can be challenging, I just don't find the ship v ship combat fun and 'max creds per hour' is not something I care about. I am looking forward to 'Bring them in alive' bounty hunting missions though.

For maximum efficiency you want to use laser canons in pve not repeaters. Canons got much higher dps but their projectiles are much slower which doesnt really matter too much against npcs.
Do you have guides for building ships? I've used only 4 different ships, but it usually takes me 10-15 minutes to kill one dude in a dogfight. Kinda annoying for myself lol.
I agree with what you said at the beginning. If I don't play a story mode game for a week I might as well completely restart it as my small peanut brain will have forgotten the mechanics and half of the major plot points
star citizen has multiple career choices. Miner, merc, trashman, uber, medic, pirate, hitman and etc. You gotta choose a ship that works with your career which is why I love this game. The choices you make has an effect on you permanently. Doing illegal shit tarnishes your name and orgs won't accept you. Doing good shit makes you one of the most trustworthy people out there that has a clean name and clean rep.
I haven't played for a few months, just came back, I did all the certifications (except the ERT one), but I don't have any « Wanted » contract... Is it a known bug? Haven't been able to do a single bounty since coming back :(
Really appreciate the insight you provide in this video. It's exactly why my buddy and I will do missions in the Investigate or Delivery tab. Sometimes, it's nice to just chill and enjoy the atmosphere. If you aren't having fun, is it REALLY worth the grind?
I agree with you but... mining is good at the very beginning because you can make a lot of money without depending on missions whose amount is based on reputation, the same for bunkers, the first ones only bring very little , and the same for the dogfight...
use 2 retaliators and do high threat service beacons. pop ert's and go to seperate targets and be really efficient. other than that partying up will only make you less money. i can't think of any other mission that is fast enough with 2 people to make it worth splitting half and half.

If you get in crusader industries' graces they will constantly spam you with 70K bunker mission. Less than 10 minutes of gunfights and you get close to 80K for each one thanks to call to arms. Hey guys I've sorta got a problem, I loaded SC and I've got zero money like literally ZERO, I tried reloading it and everything and yeah I'm kinda in need of help, any idea on what to do.
I stopped doing bounties when they changed them all to be in-atmosphere rather than in asteroid clusters. I find it really hard to control my ship in a dogfight when I have to contend with drag and I always need to be mindful of where the ground is so I don't slam into it. I wouldn't mind doing them if the in-atmo ones were only occasional, or if it was random where the bounty would spawn. But having to do that gameplay loop of entering the atmo and travelling to the target is tiresome. I'd much prefer to do bunkers. You can get bunker missions that give up to 90k in rewards at the highest tiers, plus you keep whatever loot you want (I got to the point where I only loot fresh mags off of the enemies I kill).
@@llawlied6902 not exactly the same , with bunkers you also get loot boxes ( weapons - rifles, sniper, grenade launcher, pistols etc, armors, med gun, tractor beam guns, med pens, ammo and so on) you could even loot the dead guys ( security guard or the bad guys)for their armor too plus the reward/payment for completing the mission.
@@rio20d issue I have with this is that looting and transporting everything to your ship and then selling it takes way too long in the same time you would habe finished 1-2 group bounties Maybe later on selling doesn't take forever like now
@@llawlied6902 I think to each their own, since everybody likes doing different things, I usually do the looting mainly because I like to stock up so I have many spare guns and armors and med guns etc, so if I die I dont really need to buy from shops. it’s pretty much free armors and guns , especially with sniper rifles , rail guns, grenade/rocket launchers and so on you only can get those from bunkers , they are not available in shops.
There is a "friendly" bug with loot. Just go to the lootbox, open it, carry the weapon you want in your hand, then right click on any ammo in your backpack and click carry. So now the game switches the weapon in your hand with the ammo and you carry the weapon in your backpack. You can also do it with armor or anything else. Just carry it in your hand and do it like that. I once left the bunker with like 20 weapons and around 15 gears.
Bunkers do suck yeah. First loop my friend showed me when I started and the first night 2/5 missions fully bugged out from npc's not spawning. Thats separate from the buggy ai killing you through objects, the friendly AI shooting you instead, etc... does make about 70k for some higher tier ones.
I've made the most money just monitoring chat and then helping people who need help. One guy was downed for a half hour I picked him up because everyone who said they would pick him up didn't and I got 5 mil for picking him up lol.
I've begun favoring bounties as well over bunkers. Bunkers take more time and come with a legit risk of friendly fire. It takes very little to kill an NPC compared to a ship, and its one hour in kletcher for each kill.
I don't grind beyond a days mining, just to get a couple of million to last till my interest runs out. Just invest enough in the game and you never have to spend real money again, buy any ship in the sales, don't buy CCU's, there waste of effort , and you never own the golden goose or its attributes, just the LTI token. So when i play, i actually play the game, with no emphasis on collecting useless loot, grinding for ships you'll never bother flying, or running daft cargo runs.
For you mining are boring but for me it is relaxing after a hard day of work irl and because i often visit the local gym after work i am rather physically exhausted as well.
Went to edit my original comment.. somehow deleted it instead.. very confused but it's also 9am and not in 24+ lol. There is a bit of a mental trap that I see happen with a lot of mmos but other games as well.. the concept of "grind" as well as "There is nothing to do" once you've gotten that ship or shiny gun, or next outfit, w/e you were targeting at the time as your goal. Grind is very perception/subjective.. the games that handle it well blend this into having you repeat however many tasks within a core loop of play, poor handling of this is what we then call "Grind" as "Grind" can be sort of bundled as "Time spent = reward/progress given" when our sense of input/effort does not yield a certain degree/value of reward, that's when stuff feels "Grindy." To make this shorter than it might otherwise be (I type fast and get into bit of a trance at times lmao) As others have said as well, find the "game loops" or combination of such that you enjoy, try not to get too tied up on what next ship or upgrade, the $ and shinies will come just from playing the content you are actually interested in. And of course remember to take breaks from SC and play other stuff too, ye don't need to main line it lol

The most I made one time was 178k from a 40 minute mission.
same for me, mining and bounties are great!
I'm new to SC and I've only been delivering packages up until now. Great vid, thanks!
Don't forget with bunker missions you can also loot stuff, which is an advantage over ert's if you need loot etc.
In 3.18 you will also be able to loot soft death NPC ships, grab the armor and weapons from their pilots, so no need to do ground missions if only need some basic stuff.
@@nevs42 why would anyone bother with that when you can do the defend waves missions and get like 50 ships worth of loot in 1 mission
@@moonfly1 because it's about fun boarding and scavenging sounds more fun
@@flamebreaker7318 boarding npc ships is child's play and boring AF, I'd rather do bunkers where there are more npc's to present a slightly better challenge and come out of it with more loot. If you want boarding action, better of being a pirate or taking missions like the reclaimer mission.
@@moonfly1 the answer to that is literally the last part of my comment. It even starts with “if”… but besides that, who cares? It’s all personal preference, not something up for debate.
Congrats on your 1K subs.
Edit: I do have a carrack for those
I love this video. And I really enjoy how the community is so active. Love this game its bugs and all
What are your pc specs i have a pretty high end pc and im still experiencing some lag on this game and i was wondering if you had any tips to improve fps?
Spot on with this advice..just returning as well
Instead of Bunkers the 899j missions are so good.
Like you say, just doing what is fun for you atm and enjoying the game is the way to go :)
try the retaliator, it has 6 torps..
@@CitizenWeez yea i have. Its one of my favourite ships visually exterior and interior. But it flies like a cow and no pilot guns. :/ No, right now I love the eclipse and the stealth aspect even if its not fully implemented. And it handles like a dream hehe And with all the restock bugs atm 3 torps is not such a bad thing :)
I love bunkers but like you said they are buggy. And mining while it can be lucrative is inconsistent, often frustrating, and boring. Bounties are my favorite way to make money, too.
What is the best fighting ahip in sc i mainly salvage for money but i also love bounties i have 6 mill so what ship is the best for bounties ? I had a sentinal before and im not new to the game
Also you can jump into ur ship and not be wearing any armor or guns or meds, if you die you just expedite ur ship and go again
What’s the best vounty hunter ship for solo players ?
Random as hell to see my name in the video. Happy you didn’t come after me😭😭😭 I was 2 weeks old when I had that bounty
Lol eeeyyyy. Maybe next time 😉
how did you get this camo on the gladius ?
I can't stand the green one anymore
you can buy them in the pledge store.
@@AverageArdvark oh thx !!
Using the Avenger Titan right now - what’s the next ship for running bounties?
id go with an arrow if buying in game. cheap and effective
The sentinel is god like IMO (Eclispe proba still the best for fast farm but if you don't like cheese torp it's not for ya)
Subbed. Great video. I recently got into SC 3.18 . I definitely have been enjoying the bounty hunter missions and leaning towards that being my main method of payment in game. Once this soft wipe happens I plan on saving for a good ship and then going to work. I'll avoid player bounties for awhile. I don't feel like I'm good enough for that yet haha.
i'm like 99% certain that if you kill the wingmen before the target then you not only get call to arms credits, but a payout bonus as well
My LuvThud (Valentines day paint job on a Ion) luvs Hammerhead steaks lol
whats up with the altimeter? what does it stand for
Does it lag for you in the citys?
Which ship are you using in the video?
Gladius
Thanks I took some of my money from mining and bought a Sentinel. Which do you think would be the better of those 2 for Bounty Hunting? I have some more money so I could get the Gladius too. Just trying to get the most experience B4 the 3.18 wipe.
@@jetsimmer Gladius is a light fighter, ultra agile, I love to fly it with HOSAS. Sentinel is heavy figher not so responsive as Gladius and and you will lose a lot of firepower if you fly alone, but it is a second best choise if you fly with a friend.
I do cave bounties + hand mining early. Gets you a ton of gear and if you know how to obtain a 1scu container you can make over 120k every run.
Great video dude
but, are you arumba?
What ship are u flying in the beginning of the vid
To paraphrase: Do you like Fishing (Ye-) NO! That's right, NOBODY likes fishing. That's because fishing is BORING.
:D
Mining, cargo gameplay, box missions... not my thing. I do like the investigation missions, to a point. But... mostly... I'm just here for the explosions :D
the best way is the criminal hamerhead bounties with a topedo bomber 45k per target and it literally takes as long as it takes for you to get there and the target to spawn
@@tehtehkhantengames8580 That's why I said "if you have a huge ship and money".
Is cargo running fixed? I thought it was still broken because of limited buy offers. I think it might work on PTU due to limited players.
@@Witters_ Well its not broken. Each place has a certain amount you can buy from and sell from. If you could buy your entire ship capacity with the most profitable item and sell said item fully every single run, that would break the economy
@@ElSpoon Any tips on how much to buy of each commodity and the best commodities to buy?
I just want to be a space smuggler. You got a bounty and you need to go across the galaxy call me. I have a ship.
What loadout are you using for your gladius? Ship systems, weapons etc.
panther repeaters, js300 pwer, fr66 shields, zerorush and ultraflow coolers.
Hello do you know what cheap pc I can get to play this game since i'm on an mac
I found the eclipse both fun and efficient at doing vhrts and even erts. One shotting a reclaimer never gets old
Did a bunker mission today. Last NPC didn’t spawn and then I got a bullet in the back of the head from security. Very cool game but I was honestly really disappointed in the NPC’s. Half we’re running in the wall, the other half basically looked like they had been miscoded and couldn’t properly preform their roles.
What ship are you using?
aegis gladius
I only had the aroua starter ship, so i rented a cutty black and flew delivery missions, bought a cutty black and started surface mining, saved up for the mole and started quantanium mining, so i bought a dog fighter, maybe it was the eclipse.. I took a break for about ½ year, came back to the game and im down to my auroa again.. if i didnt loose all my ships over and over, i would be playing it more.. Just really cant do the grind again :(
In complete opposition to most players, I find bounty hunting very boring and prefer trading/mining etc. It is not that it is too easy, the early levels are too easy but the later ones can be challenging, I just don't find the ship v ship combat fun and 'max creds per hour' is not something I care about. I am looking forward to 'Bring them in alive' bounty hunting missions though.
I feel the same way.
I never try Bounty for any real money making - thou I heard it can be kind of fun.. I do like Mining and some really enjoy it, some say it smoothing for the soul as it you and space and the Rocks. Maybe I give it a try again.. Bounty :)
Could you post on your set-up of the ship you're Flying. Any special stuff like Shields, or Power Plants.. Or is it the Just Bought fly ship.. Just want to know
For what you were talking about in the beginning, I was top 0.1% Ascendant in Valorant, which in my opinion, is a good and high rank. I havent played the game in like 3 months, id probably still own but in other games like Apex where I was Diamond I would get owned by like Bronzes haha
For maximum efficiency you want to use laser canons in pve not repeaters. Canons got much higher dps but their projectiles are much slower which doesnt really matter too much against npcs.
It take seconds to destroy target but on planet surface sometimes take long minutes to get there.
Yeah I would recommend doing them in crusader system. That way most of the time you quantum right to them.
Ive been enjoying doing bounties in a warlock and getting the kill fps.
That ship is sick
So has the wipe happened yet? I'm not rejoining until after the wipe.
not yet but soon
Best job is salvaging! Can't beat it
I haven't played for a few months, just came back, I did all the certifications (except the ERT one), but I don't have any « Wanted » contract... Is it a known bug? Haven't been able to do a single bounty since coming back :(
You wont have any until you do the apprehend suspect contract. That's the one the certifies you for human bounties
@@AverageArdvark Oh! Was it always like that? I feel like I never did this one ever! I will try that, thanks!
I'm wondering if everyone else is crashing every 30 minutes...
Also if I rebind my flight controls, interaction mode stops working, WTF
Because bounty hunting is the only semi working non-terrible loop in the game?
Really appreciate the insight you provide in this video. It's exactly why my buddy and I will do missions in the Investigate or Delivery tab. Sometimes, it's nice to just chill and enjoy the atmosphere. If you aren't having fun, is it REALLY worth the grind?
I agree with you but... mining is good at the very beginning because you can make a lot of money without depending on missions whose amount is based on reputation, the same for bunkers, the first ones only bring very little , and the same for the dogfight...
What’s a good way to make money as duo ?
use 2 retaliators and do high threat service beacons. pop ert's and go to seperate targets and be really efficient. other than that partying up will only make you less money. i can't think of any other mission that is fast enough with 2 people to make it worth splitting half and half.
@@AverageArdvark thank you I just looked into the bomber and it’s like $275 which feels rough idk if I can spend taht much on here I’m new and this game is very expensive and very buggy and has me wondering what do with multi role ships other than just fun since it isn’t a good way to make money. This game is confusing on many fronts
If you get in crusader industries' graces they will constantly spam you with 70K bunker mission.
Less than 10 minutes of gunfights and you get close to 80K for each one thanks to call to arms.
If you enjoy grunt work doing mercenary contract around crusader is imo the best way a newbie can make money currently, just don't shoot the friendly npcs, the cops don't like it when you do that.
Just started playing with a friend and I have no clue what I'm doing
what are your specs?
Hey guys I've sorta got a problem, I loaded SC and I've got zero money like literally ZERO, I tried reloading it and everything and yeah I'm kinda in need of help, any idea on what to do.
fly your starter ship to Gallete Family Farms on Cellin, free gear in crates and no npcs defending it
which ship was this?
Hello from Trist Ardvark.
How did you get 37k brows and only have 1k subs?
I think it goes with what your saying here but the best way to make money is the way that you enjoy
For some reason I don't have group bounties. I have ERT tho.. But not group :(
I stopped doing bounties when they changed them all to be in-atmosphere rather than in asteroid clusters.
Hello, what is the name of your ship please 😉
Hello. It's the aegis gladius.
Laser cannons for PvE, repeaters for PvP (even though I occasionally win with cannons)
man I've been doing this forever and I had no clue group bounties existed... maybe I thought they were ground targets idk, but thanks!
Ah! I love bounty hunting, but bunkers are my go-to. Bunkers can take 10-15 minutes for 100k. The longest part is getting there.
Same as with bounties but both professions require heavy grind first
@@llawlied6902 not exactly the same , with bunkers you also get loot boxes ( weapons - rifles, sniper, grenade launcher, pistols etc, armors, med gun, tractor beam guns, med pens, ammo and so on) you could even loot the dead guys ( security guard or the bad guys)for their armor too plus the reward/payment for completing the mission.
@@rio20d issue I have with this is that looting and transporting everything to your ship and then selling it takes way too long in the same time you would habe finished 1-2 group bounties
Maybe later on selling doesn't take forever like now
@@llawlied6902 I think to each their own, since everybody likes doing different things, I usually do the looting mainly because I like to stock up so I have many spare guns and armors and med guns etc, so if I die I dont really need to buy from shops. it’s pretty much free armors and guns , especially with sniper rifles , rail guns, grenade/rocket launchers and so on you only can get those from bunkers , they are not available in shops.
My first bounty hunt mission resulted in the escort kamikaze-ing(?) my ship. That was uhh.. interesting.
He your throttle indicator - its an open Box, not a closed box, and you're flying faster than your throttle limit set. What?
I have a hot hey to enable and disable the limiter. So when is broken like that it means it's disabled
im new in the game, started 27. dec
I don't grind beyond a days mining, just to get a couple of million to last till my interest runs out. Just invest enough in the game and you never have to spend real money again, buy any ship in the sales, don't buy CCU's, there waste of effort
, and you never own the golden goose or its attributes, just the LTI token. So when i play, i actually play the game, with no emphasis on collecting useless loot, grinding for ships you'll never bother flying, or running daft cargo runs.
I wouldn't mind mining so much of I didn't waste an hour and half and still not find a quant rock despite looking where I'm told to
Tip: NPC's have spaces in their names, real players never have spaces in their names. Ex. Vincent Cartwright = NPC, wraith1478 = Player
R u Arumba?
Hammerhead piloted by NPCs? laughs in retaliator.
Grind is very perception/subjective.. the games that handle it well blend this into having you repeat however many tasks within a core loop of play, poor handling of this is what we then call "Grind" as "Grind" can be sort of bundled as "Time spent = reward/progress given" when our sense of input/effort does not yield a certain degree/value of reward, that's when stuff feels "Grindy."
To make this shorter than it might otherwise be (I type fast and get into bit of a trance at times lmao)
As others have said as well, find the "game loops" or combination of such that you enjoy, try not to get too tied up on what next ship or upgrade, the $ and shinies will come just from playing the content you are actually interested in. And of course remember to take breaks from SC and play other stuff too, ye don't need to main line it lol
