Great video, Nick and especially useful for me as I've just taken delivery of the same racks and panniers from Hitchcocks myself. One thing; in my bag of fittings there are a couple of extension pieces for the lower bracket fixing point - I just wonder if that would have made things easier for you. Did you have them and decide not to use them? I think the Bingley Wheeler used them when he fitted his. Cheers.
To be honest I can’t remember seeing any extension pieces in the bag of bits. Those cheap leather bags turned out to be just so much rubbish. Should have known better at only £40 including delivery from India. 👍
@@thesilverfoxtravels6653 Thanks for the reply, Nick. I've just finished fitting mine this minute - very fiddly but happy with the result. I found I had to use the extension bits as otherwise the rear brackets wouldn't reach the mudguard stays. Also, one of the bottom spacers was missing from my fixing kit so I had to use 4 washers on one side instead. Good enough and now I'm ready for some adventures!
Hi nick thanks for your quick reply hope its sorted might have been the plug ! ive done 4000 approx no probs apart from speedo sticking only seams to happen when sunny ? Cheers mate bill.
Morning James, only one of those two sets of fittings was used. No idea what the others were for and no mention of them in the instructions..! I’ve put them into the “spares” box. 👍
@@NatSatFat Hi, no the new bags are just canvas and the straps are on double “D” rings. Though I suppose you might be able to get someone to stitch a leather strap and ring arrangement where a padlock could be used. Hope this helps. 👍
We need Hitchcocks to find someone in India to make metal "ammo box" panniers the same size as their canvas bags... (either that or a copy of the old Craven fibreglass boxes)
@@thesilverfoxtravels6653 On my '93 Bullet 500 I had "Harley style" panniers by Acrybre Mouldings and they really suited the bike. 20 years later I am really kicking myself that I did not keep hold of them...😭
Hi Nik, I too bought panniers and racks for my 350 from India and they to proved rubbish quality and false economy, so I too will shortly be ordering genuine racks and canvas panniers from Hitchcocks U.K. , prob in same colour as yours for my Army theme on my bike 😁👍 Subscribed and looking forward to more Enfield films 👍😁 Cheers Bruce

I know it was a shock and my wallet is still recovering from the trauma..! And there are more changes to be made, hopefully not as expensive. 🤞👍

I got the old bags from a random search on eBay for £40 ($50) but don’t remember the site/brand but I do recall they were from India.
