WHS - Work hard and starve, my Dad used to say, good bricklayer no longer with us, still have his tools including 3 WHS trowels in the garage. Cracking watch Charlie.
Loving the videos Charlie mate, been hooked for a little while now, haven’t personally done any site work for the last 3 years. On the way to becoming a physio myself but still got love for seeing the hard work that goes into bricklaying and just general trade works. Really great content and there’s not many people giving a real inside view of site work like yourself so I only hope you find success in TH-cam and keep doing what you’re doing fella, there’s loads of people like myself who really enjoy the stuff you’re doing. Take care mate x
Been watching you videos for a while and even tho I’m training to be a plumber find these so interesting and after a good days graft such easy viewing keep up the good work mate
I don't understand how you get the weep vent perps on the lintel course to line up with such tight perps above? The weep vent perps are always big 10mm plus, but your perps today were super tight. At some point they must have gone off centre but obviously not..
Your very smooth on the line none of that woodpecker tapping!, like those line clamps , not seen those before , but ive been retired ten years nice brickwork
Isnt it strange how many non brickies watch these videos?! 😂 I’m a carpenter by trade, and now work a projects manager in the office but love watching these videos and have turned my hand to a few little walls projects at my house, only laying about 15 bricks a day so won’t be quitting my day job 😂😂
Agreed with both comments gator boards all day lighter and don't pull the moisture out the muck like ply boards. some bricks get marine faced ply but are heavier and are £80 a sheet and won't last a full year even with a mustard hoddy that leaves boards spotless at tea time and home time.
Best trowel ever made WHS , made me laugh how many brickie supervisors used to think they were hard as nails and never laid a brick , a few hit the scaffold
Mad, I’m in a complete different job sector (content and websites) but I love these videos! So cool! Just getting to terms with the bricklaying terms!😂😂
Charlie ,a old guy told me they used the big trowels for the footings .Did you see the bricklayer and his labourer who did the meter garden wall on a morning,it looked great but at that price he must be a fucking millionaire. I had one of those big ones for about an hour.
How's your wrist after using the bigger trowel? Why are folks asking no pic & dip don't they know you are building ends and then will run in later when you string a line.
Being working on sites for fifty years and my advice is wear sensible but comfortable shoes. I only ever wear Dr Martin Air wear. Steel toe caps are like wearing diving boots. Cumbersome and uncomfortable. I can dance out of the way of a falling brick quicker than with boots on and if anything else is to fall on you the cap would probably do more harm than without. I am all for working safely but, I think it's gone mad.
Ok mate i stopped site work and concentrate on private now much better mate ..best way to price small jobs like porchs etc i look at job see how many days to complete and whatever you want per day times it mate ..enjoy your vlogs picked up some good tips 👍👍
Nice work mate🤙 don’t take this as a criticism, that extra movements you take by using the backside of your trowel to swipe the brick after you’ve cut your mud off will cost you at least 100 bricks a day Less movements = more bricks = more money 💰
Tip top work Chap!
I get alot o' inspiration watching em. Did my 3 year apprenticeship. Now looking to tidy up and pick up the speed.🙂
Totally enjoy your videos. You make it look so easy & your choice of music is brilliant.

Excellent work Charlie buddy, something therapeutic watching a great brickie at work like yourself 👍👍

Many can't appreciate the finite skills he learnt over the years. He seems like a Craftsman and cares about his work.
He still won't shag ya mate
Joy to watch trowel action....top class 👍
Done great for my mental heath Charlie watching you lay bricks it's art work
Been watching you videos for a while and even tho I’m training to be a plumber find these so interesting and after a good days graft such easy viewing keep up the good work mate
I like the bit towards the end when Charles checked the snots and scaffold rash on the lift below, going the extra mile is the difference
Es macht Spaß ,euch bei der Arbeit zuzuschauen ! Das ist sehr gute Maurerarbeit .👍👍👍👍👍👍🙋♂️
Good one. Pretty high up. Keeping things neat and clean. Good looking work

Know nothing about bricklaying, but love these videos 👍
We’ve started to refuse working on table lifts like that! But I suppose as long as you’ve got your hat n gloves on everything’s 👌
Yea I’ve told them I won’t be doing it like that again👍🏻
Love it when it gets to the last few course of a top out no better feeling

One of the best feelings, using your level to check your work and not having to do a thing 🤣
Don’t happen often with me 😂
@@CharlieCollison can tell you're works all over the place
@@Tricky181 you mad Charles is one of the cleanest
Health and safety gone mad but don’t understand the hassle of narrow scaffold, couple boards wider be great 🥵
Nice clean job on the gable.
I can remember buying my left hand WHS trowel years ago.
WHS work hard and starve fucking useless trowels all for daywork plodder's
They have sunbelt rentals in England??
Great work Charlie.
Greetings from Iserlohn, Germany
Them spot boards are tougher than they look 💪🏿
Best about anybody serous about bricklaying must have them. Mucking about with wooden boards is madness
Agreed with both comments gator boards all day lighter and don't pull the moisture out the muck like ply boards. some bricks get marine faced ply but are heavier and are £80 a sheet and won't last a full year even with a mustard hoddy that leaves boards spotless at tea time and home time.
What I wouldn't give to be a 16 year old lad again and you to be my mentor.
Best trowel ever made WHS , made me laugh how many brickie supervisors used to think they were hard as nails and never laid a brick , a few hit the scaffold
Still expecting brickies to nose bleed, Health and Safety when it suits
The headcam is the best. keep up the good work
Great video once again.
Where'd you get your mortar stands? And can you buy the gatorboards in packs mate?...
Amazon for the stands don’t think they do them any more.... and eBay for the boards
Just a couple of points. 1. Isn't it strange the way the doctors appointment is always 11 to 12.30 🤔😂 2. Good job all the money is in the top.
Where do you buy those line clamps? What's the brand, company name?
Fitzbrick clamps Google them £50 a pair in 2022

Nice video, quality work as always. What belt do you use? Thinking about getting one as it saves so much time!

Not to bad. But I definitely feel more tired today and didnt get as much done as I usually would.
Fantastic.
Aha, the new hybrid ' long bed pick and dip technique! Faster to put a bed out and then pick and dip?
Sometimes I use it but my favourite is normal pic and dip 👍🏻

What are the best work boots to wearing on site
Being working on sites for fifty years and my advice is wear sensible but comfortable shoes. I only ever wear Dr Martin Air wear. Steel toe caps are like wearing diving boots.
