  • This time it’s all about the iPad! Well, it had to be really, right?
    We chat over the M2 iPad Air, and M4 iPad Pro, what we’ve bought and how we will go about covering it.
    The Let Loose event itself came in for some flack - the Machine Press was not to everyone’s liking - we discuss!
    And if you’ve wondered what it’s like to deal with brands - we tell you the truth!
    Don’t forget, if you enjoy our weekly podcast to subscribe, like, and share - and if you listen on Apple Podcasts - to leave us a rating (hopefully a 5-star one!) as well! 🙏🏻

    Great conversation guys. Good on you for not rushing in with all the other repetitive reviewers. Really interesting conversation and pays to sit back and see what transpires.

    Use 3d sculpting app like nomad sculpt and it will eat your ram. In 2d work you´ll probably never fill 16gb of ram

    What is the screen like after longer use? I use my ipad Pro 2020 11 inch, which is LCD for work and leisure.
    Emails, Teams, Excel, Word, movies, TV shows, procreate, and gaming. All combined, like 3 plus hours per day. Does the oled 1000 nits of brightness hurt your eyes??

    So I use an iPad Pro M2 currently and use it for mobile gaming. I’m wondering if the OLED screen along with the M4 and a higher Ram if I go with the 1 TB version would likely be better for gaming. Any thoughts on that ? Thanks

    I would also like for you to be able to export a version of your project from the Mac to the iPad to add thinks like live drawing and the export et back to the Mac and finish the project there. Right now you will have to start on the iPad but that means you cannot make big changes to your live drawings if needed after it has been sent to the the Mac.

    Careful with the Magic Keyboard, I’ve had two and keys fell off both. Maybe I am a bit heavy handed but I’m buying a 3rd party one next as having two key caps missing looks poor and not buying another for £350.

    longer battery life or decreased weight. The roughly 100 gram decreased weight might be the think that makes the 13 inch more usable handheld over an extensive periode of time. But you will have to wait until reviewers have tried using it for more than a few minuts to know if the benefits of the decrease in weight is bigger than the benefits of extended battery life

    Have a 27” iMac for serious work and iPad Pro 12inch 4th generation and should be receiving the M4 1T with keyboard on the 15th may, would have liked a bigger one say 14 or 14 inch screen.
    Use Affinity photo a lot on the 27” iMac but just can’t use it on the iPad, not as intuitive.

    The biggest way the iPad will fail is if Apple does not redesign iPadOS with better file and window management. The iPad is faster than M3 Macs but that power is wasted by being chained to a poor OS.

    As a true operating system, the iPadOS is less than 5 years old, so it should have a high ceiling on what can be achieved with the OS. Until the M1 chip was introduced to the iPad Pro in 2021, hardware was still a limitation for the iPad. As you guys indicated, Apple is going in the right direction with the iPadOS. My view is that the iPad Air is the ideal model, it sits in a nice price range and has the required capabilities.

      The iPad Air with a 60hz display 2024. I was pretty disappointed they couldn't add promotion. It's not like it's that expensive of a feature to add. These days any phone/tablet above $200 seems to have a 120 HZ screen.

    • @darak2
      @darak2 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The ceiling of what an OS is capable of is not determined by its age, it's by design. The notion that tablets (or phones) have slow hardware and thus need special limitations to work well is dubious at best: even an entry model device today would have been a supercomputer not that long ago, and are perfectly capable of running full operating systems with no such limitations.

    • @michaelcobbin
      @michaelcobbin 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@darak2 Until the M1 chip, RAM and Memory swap was a limitation for the iPad. Five years ago, everyone thought an ARM-based chip would be too slow for a laptop/desktop. In less than four years, Apple has changed the landscape for laptops/desktops and the tablet market. Yes, Apple needs to add more capabilities to their iPadOS, and doing so, it is just longer than what some people, 10% of the tech buyers, want to happen. Unlike other manufacturers, Apple doesn’t have to deal with the legacy x86 limitations, or every second version of Windows is 💩.

    The only solution is to allow a dual booting of Mac OS on the expensive pro versions. They can release Half-Baked versions of productivity software for iPad OS but it's never going to be enough. What they really need to do is on the really expensive items. Give people the option to dual boot Mac ..
    Just like you can dual boot Linux on Chromebook. Obviously you don't need this on the air or maybe even the base models of the pros. But once you're spending 1,500 bucks or whatever, it's a joke not to have the option to run Mac OS...
    They also need to have a touch screen on Mac. Not by default but as an optional add-on. Artists are getting so screwed by Apple by not being allowed to use a stylus and desktop software and extensions on one device. It's ridiculous to force them to a laptop and a tablet and a phone.
    Realistically, if you allowed video output, one device should really be able to do all three of those things.

      Hi - I do wonder how close they will ever let iPadOS get to macOS for fear of cutting off revenue from both streams - Mac & iPad (David)

    I disagree, the incessant assertion that the iPad Pro, in terms of OS needs a variation of Mac OS in order to achieve “true perfection” is “Plain Silly!”
