It actually does make sense for Athrun to be absent from the final battles. We saw him in that infirmary fur a long time and he was still hurt really bad in the battle at Orb. Then he rapidly healed to perfect condition by the time they got to the moon. 😅
Man, Gundam deserves ,,What if" series of it's own. MCU is soo lucky. I already have a few ideas for CE. 1. What if... TSA didn't go into hiding after the 1. Junius war?-In this universe, TSA stays in the spotlight to prevent another war, leading to Compass being founded earlier, and deal with BC, Zala loyalists and Logos. Durandal makes a different plan. 2. What if... Shinn and Athrun made up before battle of Messiah?-Luna reveals to Shinn Athruns meeting with Kira and Cagalli after the Battle of Dardanells and that Durandal and Rey are lying to him before the Destruction of Arzachel while Athrun learns from Mu or Meyrin what happened to Stella (I believe that the reason he and Shinn had a fallout was because Athrun taught Shinn was going after Kira out of glory-hoagging and didn't know about Stellas death and how it broke Shinn into pieces. If he tried to understand why Shinn was really so hellbent on destoying Kira, he might have been able to talk things through with him, as a friend instead of a superior, since he and Kira went through the same thing during the last war. But he was to preocupied with his own doubts and conflicting feelings to even try to connect to Shinn and understand him, so he just assumed the worst. Really, we could have gotten Super Robot Wars Shinn ending if Athrun was straight-forward with Shinn instead of beating him, scolding him, and spewing fortune coockie crap you don't understand until you've lived through it). Realising he shouldn't have treated Shinn like he did and only filled him with more anger and hate, Athrun contacts Shinn to make amends. The 2 make up and we get SRW scenario. 3. What if... Rey lived?- Rey chooses to go with Kira and Athrun after shooting Durandal to have a proper life. (They made a comic about that. Saw it once. 1 page. It seemed good. Man, Rey dying at the end is the most botched part of writting of the last 5 episodes of GSD. He should've lived. Makes more sense. I knew it probably won't come true, but I tought he'll make a comeback, like Zechs did in EW. 🥺🥺🥺) 4. What if... Yzak got killed instead of Nicol?-In this reality, Yzak is the 1 who attacks Kira and is accedentaly killed by him after he defeats Athrun at the Skirmish near Orbs border. 5. What if... Athrun and Kira met Shinn at Orb?-Here, Shinn is not found and taken from Orb by captain Todaka, causing him to be found by Archangel crew who take him with them since it is too late do get him out of the warzone. After the war, he is taken in by Yamatos and Rey becomes the Impulses pilot. Your opinion.
Cosmic Era Destiny was good up till after Shinn defeats Kira in the Impulse. A well thought out plot would have easily made Seed fans happy and turn Shinn's character into a success. Shinn's gratification in taking the Freedom down should have been short lived as he finds no solace from the achievement. I think since Destiny started off as the previous 2 heroes feeling like they've achieved nothing from the past war, Shinn should have become the character that bridges the shortcomings from the aftermath of the Seed ending. I dont think much of the events leading to Minerva attacking Orb should be changed but the character motives should. I would instead have Rey in the Legend take down Athrun and Meyrin in the Gouf though, then have Shinn take on the blame from Rey when they return to base and meet Lunamaria. He does so because it was a joint operation by him and Rey, so it isnt too unnatural to claim the result as being part of his own actions. His relationship with Lunamaria would develop more naturally if she later soon finds out that it was actually Rey who took the gouf down all the while Shinn begins to suspect the Chairman's and Rey's motives. Shinn should have lost to the StrikeF and Justice not due to the portrayed lack in piloting skill but due to his own uncertainty. The moment he flew off to face Orb should have been the defining moment where he is conflicted about finding himself on the other side of Orb. A repeat of his tragedy, he is now the one leading an assault against the very same nation he once lived in but now he is the agressor. The duel with Akatsuki and Cagalli should mirror the Freedom against the Calamity, in where the two engage in a beam battle that creates more devastation on ground than defeating the other. Imho, Mu should have been held responsible for his actions as Neo. This whole plot point got glossed over like a pile of bs as soon as the extended characters became obsolete to the story. Dude committed genocide using Stella in the Destroy and he gets off without any conclusion to that story plot? BS. Shinn should be given a scene where he smacked the hell outta Mu for being an amnesiac PoS. The final Gundam duel should indeed be Destiny vs Legend. The Wings of Light would also be given their much needed spotlight as a system to help Shinn evade the dragoon system since it seemed the director didnt want the supposed pen on paper of the WoL to work as envisioned because Destiny fought the StrikeF and StrikeF cant be nicked by a single space debris, because of Shiny Gundam ooh la la. Heine vs Shinn in this vid is cool and all but that character was doomed from the start due to who voiced him in Japanese, TM Revolution.
@@LVL5esper A good idea. But on your opinion about Shinn attacking the Orb, in his eyes it wasn't a peacefull place he once loved and lived in, but a cheap Logos-corrupted copy of what was that tarnishes the TRUE legacy of Orb and has to go down for at least a part of what was return.
@@IlijaNenadović true, yeah. In Destiny, Orb is pretty much part of what was causing havoc. Since ZAFT only ever really became the legit bad guy in world lore after the Chairman revealed his Destiny plan...which from different perspectives, people would have to judge if it is evil or intended to be good in nature. Imo, from all intents and purposes, ZAFT in Destiny even up till the end, would most likely not be seen as the bad guys since Orb spent most of its time siding with EA and attacking other nations while ZAFT spent the whole show liberating countries etc. The whole change in which country was the good guys definitely was really forced because Cagalli was part of Orb. In reality, stuff like this woildnt fly and people would most likely side with ZAFT. At least thats what I think from how the show was written originally.
I really like how you used the Calibarn theme, as it easily shows how Suletta could have easily fallen down the same path Shinn did. Here, it shows the idea of Shinn going down a different path of his own, one that he could have with the right emotional support.
