I hope there's more SEED honestly. Love the series as a whole. Lol, I haven't seen the remaster so when I heard them pronounce Lacus as Lacoos and Yamato was a bit jarring but apparently Lacus is pronounced like that in Latin?
Them referencing Badriguel and Nicole is really good. Also SEED is probably the last Gundam series with good battleship combat. This movie doesn’t disappoint on that side. That Millennium mid-air brake moment is so cool.
Nothing outside of Ptolemy causing a tsunami by diving into the sea, and ptolemy gliding across the orbital elevator on (Arios) Transam and serve as cannon platform for Seravee and Cherudim. Season 1 Ptolemy was designed weapon-less and season 2 Ptolemy Kai also barely had any “standard weaponry” IBO has that battering ram moment, and AGE has the battleship transforming, that’s it 😂
Yea its like nicole invented the myriad colloid system when it existed on gundam astray gold frame long before he got his hands on it. Badriguel head into all attack maneuver wouldnt work without the impenetrable shielding.
In Japan during the release of the movie in January they passed out mini novels explaining some of the events that happened between Seed Destiny and Freedom. Like Athrun and Cagalli going on a date, Agnes backstory and some of the cast members just enjoying peace. I really enjoyed it and the few people with me who aren't Gundam fans enjoyed it as well.
Shinn's character in this movie was honestly the best part for me. Seeing this soft dorky side of his as he tries his best to help Kira really warmed my heart. And I was jumping around happily when he was destroying the black knights in the destiny Gundam.
It was cool but I really think that it would have been cooler as part of a longer series (as much of it would) where we could see the build up to the point where things started in the movie. A big part of Shinn's character IMO is his lack of a healthy role model, something which Athrun was unable to provide as he struggled with his own issues and which Durandal actively exploited. It makes sense that he would try to fill that gap with Kira again, but it would have been nice to actually see that happening.
Absolute Gundam Peak Cinema I SEEDed inside the theater when I watched this and when Kira said "I am the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom" this made it the most mobile suit movie of all time
Yeah. Breaking of the movie to 12-14 episodes is a great idea. I'd also be glad if we get +40min episodes featuring Shinns mental and emotional recovery, formation of COMPS, Freedom Hijack Incident, Foundation shock and Compasses early operations
The only thing I think this movie really needed was a 30-60 second narration at the start to recap how we got to the beginning of the movie from end of seed destiny. Both as reminders for previous fans who may have forgotten some points and to help new people be able to follow some plot points. This movie felt it at times couldn’t stand alone on its own on its plot especially with all the references thrown in for fan service. Still was very satisfied with the whole thing.
Maybe I'm just imagining things, but to me, it seemed like the writers actively used this movie as a way to correct all the things that fans criticized about Seed Destiny: the fact that they made Kira and Lacus into untouchable Jesus-like figures, how Athrun and Cagalli's relationship was screwed over, and Shinn not being able to be the hero in his own show. Add to this how the Destiny Plan was the bad guys' goal again, all the flashbacks to Durandal, and how the last scene with Agnes was a recreation of Shinn's defeat (but with him on the other side now), and it feels like they were trying to "correct" the way Seed Destiny ended.
Dude if you rewatch Destiny, Shinn never felt like the main character. It was always Athrun. 😂 I’m pretty sure he had more screen time. It was never truly Shinn’s show to begin with. He was always a doomed anti-hero. Besides that I agree with the rest of your points.
@@Marco32144 By pure coincidence, I recently did re-watch the entire Seed series, from beginning to end. You're definitely right about Athrun feeling like the true main character. But that just makes things feel stranger for me. Like why market Shinn (and later Kira) as the protagonist when the focus is clearly on Athrun? :/
@@JMarcosArt the Freedom gundam and Kira just sold more. The fan base missed the old protagonist. Idk if you were aware but a large majority of people that watched SEED and later SEED Destiny didn’t like Shinn. They creators failed to make him an appealing character. Shinn just wasn’t profitable. So they planned to reintroduce Kira and a a new mobile suit, the Strike Freedom. The Strike Freedom sells 5x as much as the Destiny and Infinite Justice combined. Kira was just more profitable. But Athrun was definitely the true main character of SEED Destiny.
@@Marco32144 I get that part. What confuses me is why didn't they market it as Athrun being the protagonist from the get-go, if they knew the story would focus on him? 🤔 I'm guessing it was probably pressure from Bandai wanting a new protagonist, so they put Shinn front and center to make them happy or something? Regardless of the reason, I'm glad they did. The multi-perspective storytelling of Destiny was actually pretty cool, and I just love Shinn as a character in general :)
the producers took the safest route with the least risk. im glad that they did. it was more important that they didnt mess up the movie rather than make a great movie. its been almost 20 years, almost anything they do will leave fans wanting more
It’s way better than the 00 movie at least. I nearly plucked my hair out after watching that damn thing. My fondness for the 00 series was reduced by half because of that movie alone
@@vinzbaliton4410 not to mention hes the only strong character in the series to not have a major win with his suit that his series is named after the destiny deserved that 1v4
@@xiandiv9549 rising freedom has similar specs to Immortal justice gundam. Immortal justice is higher specs than destiny spec 2. So, it goes without saying that Rising freedom is also higher spec than Destiny Spec 2.
It was a super fun, fulfilling, and action-packed film! As a SEED fan since 2003, I loved every second of it. Every character was done right, and overall has a wonderful conclusion.
Seed was a series that dropped and I grew up with. It is my UC timeline. Still love all the timelines but this is special, the first gundam movie I've seen in theaters. Animation was amazing and there was a nice piece from everyone before they bowed out each character.
Same I was 6 when it aired on toonami and back then all I saw was cool robots fighting but went to watch it again 1p years later fell in actual love then watched it recently as adult got me back into gundam I'm down the habit hole
When I watched the movie, I was grinning from ear to ear, beginning to end. So many easter egg and throwbacks to the old series that I couldn't help but going "He/she/it's back!"
This movie is fantastic, idc about other upgrades it's pretty much the same except the part where kira goes full franxx, but after 20 years shinn finally shine like the gold he is. The best part is probably when ramius thrust her angry red rod and come inside Aura's ship. The theater goes wild at that point. I hope the M.I.B amnesia rod is real so I could enjoy the movie again.
Just watched it today, literally the final theatre showing in my country. My friend and I were laughing throughout the entire movie. It was unexpectedly hilarious...in a perhaps unintentional way.😅 Definitely different than what we expected, but in the best way possible!😁 Slight spoilers: it's much more focused on romance this time around, which is honestly what I came for anyways.😂
Rising freedom really grew on me after the movie. When i first saw the design, I didn't really like it since it just felt off but seeing it in motion was a treat.
We need a Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead of the movie following Yzak and Dearka stopping the military coup against the PLANTs. Those characters and that plot point are woefully underserved in the film.
the Rising Freedom, EASILY grew on me once more of the trailers came out and when I watched the movie its so peak. spoilers I wish IT WAS ON SCREEN MORE !!! FUCK MAN... (edit: also was cool to see myself in the video ! appreciate you, great videos)
The only thing I'm questioning is how they manage to repaired Requiem cannon without alerting either ZAFT or ORB Any activities in Daedalus lunar base should alerting ZAFT or ORB and inspecting what they did on that base
You know To me i think it was worth it because it just feels like a great tribute to how good that show was and how this gundam finally got a movie that featured in the big screen Because of how good it was back in the day and back in its remaster
I want more!!! I was waiting all this time for the continuation of the Mobile suit Gundam Seed Destiny. Imagine, 20 years from the last season, I was very little when I saw this on television and re-watch all the episodes again when I was in college. I have now my profession and working on my career abroad but after watching the movie why am I still NOT CONTENTED! It was awesome ofcourse coz I saw them once again after 2 decades Lacus & Kira living together… coz after the gundam seed destiny season it felt like I can’t move on from that story … everything is not enough to put my mind at ease. I was making up stories in my mind & searching on google for some news since all I could aford is to look for informations through the internet. Anyways I am so grateful for those who worked so hard to release this movie eventhough it took so many years. So thankful that I am still alive. Actually Mobile Suit Gundam Seed was my most beloved anime in this lifetime, though I’ve watch alot of animes already but this kind of anime has a very special place in my heart. No words can describe how I crave for more after this movie. 🇵🇭
I just saw the movie and boy oh boy I need more! I love the movie and am so happy everyone got some much-needed respect! Shin, Athrun and Kira all did their thing in the movie! I would love to see another film or series with all three as the MC!
This is perfect. I just watched all of Gundam Seed and Destiny on Netflix and watched about 5 minutes of Freedom before wondering if I missed something. Glad I found this video.
The soundtrack is awesome. Its online now. As a Seed Fan, it was pretty perfect. It could have benefited from a 3 ep OVA like you said for sure but if this is the final time we see these characters, it is a fitting end.
SPOILER ALERT The original char theme blasting when athrun comes to save the day in the Z’Gok was just so fun, it’s such a good callback and was one of my favorite moments
you know the big part I liked about the movie was the plot that was going for the plot of lacus and Kira’s and their relationship where It’s being challeng for each of them.
I felt the first half was fuckin amazing and continue the World building of CE that I love so much about it.... The second half.... drops the ball a bit.... But you know what? Shit overall I'm happy with the characters, the world and the story MOVING FORWARD. This movie should have came out in 2008-2010 so we wouldn't be stuck murmuring over the ending events of Destiny and how awful it was ending They did what they could with 2 hours time but ironically this would have been so much better as three long OVAS Saying that because that's what endless Waltz was (although shorter OVAs) then it became better as a movie
It was in 2006 when they started the production of a sequel on Gundam Seed & Gundam Seed Destiny (the 2 Japanese anime series of Gundam) everything was going well for the production until postponement due to the health condition of the writer Chiaki Morosawa then sadly died in 2016. But despite this, in 2019 they resumed pre-production and then finally revealed to us on July 2, 2023 the title is the teaser trailer of the film which will be called "Gundam Seed Freedom". Since its release in Japan on January 26, 2024, the film has earned over 32 million dollars at the box office, becoming the highest-grossing film in the Gundam series. Since I learned that on May 14th they revealed that on June 15th & 16th it will be released at the cinema here in Germany I'm surprised that it will be released here in Frankfurt where I wasn't expecting it but in the end on June 16th (on Sunday afternoon) I saw finally at the cinema. A curiosity that before seeing it at the cinema I had thought that I would be the only one to see the film in which there were not many people but no, in reality there were half people in the room who are interested in seeing this film on how it will end. _ C. Imo worth 20 years maybe questionable but its def worth watching as seed fans. The graphics looks hood. Action scene is good without much reused stuffs. The mecha also nice in general. And shinn got justice he deserved now (not the mecha lol). Lot references, funny moments, and easter egg which made for seed fans, which is cool. But yea as standlone movie to those who never watch seed, maybe its pretty meh movie lol. The drawback is villains kinda forgetable (partly coz fast pacing of the movie), their mecha also meh tbh, basically 5 similar mechas. Also too much soap opera and power of love lol (even more than OG seed and destiny imo). And ofc fast pacing as u said, which is still kinda reasonable i guess as we got used to watching seed in 50 episodes......
Yeah they really needed to be fleshed out more. We got some Orphee and Shura, and maybe that's all we needed as far as personalities the others well they were there for the laughs and fodder, but still probably could have used a half hour more as far as their creation and their mothers motivations. Its kind of funny Shura is more remembered for what Athurn did to him rather than anything he did.
@@kathilmechworks4895Most of the Accords are just there to fill the role the EA Extendeds would have normally been used for. Shura and Orphee aside, we got a lot of development out of Ingrid in the movie’s second half. Enough that I was saddened she didn’t survive since there was definitely a story still to tell with her.
The references and cameos were great. Nat/Flay, and other old stuff from OG seed like Tiger King/ Kira's friends. As a movie it really felt subpar. I think it's a watchable 5-6/10 for me. A lot of eye rolling contrived plot to make the conflict work. I really don't like how much Kira regressed in this movie compared to Seed. Sure he kept things bottled up, but he was vocal when he needed to be. They overused the exaggerated gasps way too much instead of just writing actual retorts. I'd probably put that at a 5/10 if it weren't for 2Mu and Cagthrun carrying their scenes. The Justice breaking out of zgok was really cool too. Plotwise, the ntr scenes got pretty tiresome cause you're just left waiting for the climax of Lacus joining up with Kira. I will say that this suffers the same problem as the end of seed where, killing characters is not that interesting anymore. I would rather see them live and attempt to rebuild themselves with their new mindsets (My bias for wanting Flay and Nat to live at the end). And again, it was annoying how little Kira actually spoke in this movie until finally saying what the fuck he wanted in the first place after Athrun punches the shit out of him. Not gonna speak of Shinn cause all his scenes cement in my mind of how much of a whiny bitch he is 😂 Action wise, it was alright. It was mostly acrobatics with little tension. It felt like the fighting didn't compliment the dialogue. They overused the sixth sense detection to where I wish it was just mu and Rau having it. The telepathy + mind reading black knights was also really lame, But it did give us a glimpse as to how Athrun feels about Caga with the nudie thoughts 😂 Now I definitely feel like they lucked out with the OG Seed series with writing/action/visuals. It's hard to see a continuation of this universe without rerunning the nuke war angle yet again. This makes me hope that this will be the definitive finale and they put Seed to rest. Finally, the snippets of fan service was aight. Classic mecha cockpit angles. boobies, shower scene, and some lesbo hugs.I'm glad they got to close out the relationship arc for Lacus/Kira and snippets of the other relationships like Mu+Murrue. Especially scenes for Cagthrun, they cemented in my mind they're def together now.
I definitely agree with most points you have except for what the movie did to Kira and Lacus' character motivations/strength, but I do agree with it making sense. Overall, movie is 8/10 for rating me. Definitely liked how everything looked EXCEPT FOR EVERYTHING LACUS-RELATED (WTF is that outfit on the party/pilot suit monstrosity???)
I mainly only touched on her relationship with orphee which i only really understood because it wasn't her choice-- but yeah would've been ideal without for sure
Loved the movie, want to watch it again, but have to wait. This movie did need those 20-40 minutes to breathe, specially at the end, because that ending is fast and I mean super fast, they go from scene to scene to scene in the blink of an eye and it's insane how much action they packed in the least 35 minutes or so. This movie could easily be expanded into a full series and more deeply go into the characterizations and motivations, not to mention give the battles time to breathe, as much as I love insane amounts of back to back action (I love the ending action completely, insane speed and all), but I also want time to process the combat, the feel of the battle, the flow of the conflict and while this move does an excellent job in doing that, despite the insane speed, those battle scenes could be expanded to give more time to develop and to enjoy them properly. Specially ship to ship combat, which is one of SEED's surprising strong points, they know how to do space combat be both tactical and entertaining with all the nuances that ship combat entails, beyond just point and shoot the big guns. Plus, the scenes with the Archangel and the Millenium could benefit from that time and give us the play by play of the tactics and strategies that make them such awesome warships.
I am indeed waiting on an opportunity to watch this movie. I enjoyed SEED and SEED Destiny. Thing is though, hoping to see it dubbed. Subtitles we do not do in our home. I am okay with that.
My favorite from seed is and always be anything Shinn pilots cause no matter what anyone says, Shinn started out as a interesting character in destiny, being different from your normal protag and I feel they had more planned for him and from what I heard I'm glad the redeem him in freedom. It's like I was saying, there is never a bad character, just bad story telling
Yes, The most important thing that they did to this movie is the redemtion of Shinn. The director and writer did a great job for him here. Thank you Gundam Seed franchise.
Overall amazing movie, it got a little stupid (in a good way) at the end, almost like the imagination of a crazy kid playing with gunpla kits but honestly for a show like this coming out so long after the original, it's great to have some fun like this. In some ways it retreads the same water as the later parts of Destiny, so it's kind of like a redo of Destiny which is good thing also, because it fixes a lot of the problems with Asuka and Lunamaria. My only complaint would be all the bad guys have really bad suits that are somehow simultaneously not cool, not memorable, and also don't look like Gundams. BTW I can't wait for a new modern Lacus figure, they made sure that's going to be coming with this movie.
I only watch Gundam SEED (and Destiny) recently. Watching Freedom is a really fun treat Also, this is more of IMO. But SEED Freedom is more of a Super Robot than a Real Robot. Especially with the story against Mad Scientists and their Super Minions with the Power of Love and Determination among others. Still, its not bad its what actually what make its so fun to watch
I enjoyed the movie, it was totally worth the wait and its a good conclusion to CE and Seed Franchise. But if they ever release another series or movie i wouldnt mind at all the Seed Universe its still a lot of potential with other characters and other setting.
It was worth it, i enjoyed it so much till 4x times watching it. 😂 If the producer want to make another SEED series, i hope that they could explore other side characters like Lowe Guele (Junk Guild), Gai Murakamo (Serpent Tail), or even Canard Pars (an Ultimate Coordinator beside Kira Yamato). They have so much materials to be explored. Also, if they want to make love drama of SEED series, just make Yzak and Shiho to be the main couple.
it feels like some of the dialogue sequence in the movie deliberately made faster as if they're trying to make it fit with the duration and also make some room for special edition release for the years to come with extra scenes
I'm kind of mixed on SEED Freedom. There is some really good stuff, especially in the beginning, but they kind of went full ham near the end which...... I don't know. I think it's because I'm used to the more serious nature of UC and the original SEED series that certain things didn't work for me. I would say that there were some missed opportunities to flesh out more of Kira's unresolved PTSD from the end of SEED, alluded to at the beginning of Destiny until abruptly dropped. They briefly hint at it in Freedom but never really drive it home. And what I mean by that is...... the death of Flay Allster, his first girlfriend. Granted it would seem a bit off for him to be dwelling on this especially when he and Lacus seem more perfectly united due to it being 4 years since Jakin Due instead of 2 like in the beginning of Destiny (which is why this should have been resolved then and not now). And before anyone thinks that Kira is completely over this, consider who he sees when he is told to "fall into darkness" and what the ramifications are. This does kind of come back later on the film when confronted with Athrun and was a good moment.
It wasn't worth it for several reasons. Biggest is the Dub not using the Ocean Dub voice actors. I hate they way they say characters name. I wish they would have reference Rau More. The plot is God awful. Honest replace the Villains with Al Da Flaga clones and I would have been happier. Honestly if you know the lore he has cased the most issues in all of Seed. Also Kira is a dick for letting Lowes Sword get destroyed. That's another thing we should have gotten a Cameo of the Astray characters. Also I don't know if maybe a blinked but I feel there was 5-10 minutes missing from the Dub. Like the whole sequence Murrue using the Wired Dragoons was cut from the English Dub
Bar none the best gundam movie. My only complaints is the pacing. It hits the gas peddle and just doesn't let up or let you breath. Bar none some of the best mobile suit combat and battleship combat in the series. So much so I want a Millennium model. Lot to like about this movie and hope there is a Seed Justice.
I wish to see the Gundam seed Next future Generation children main character & the support character or new character.ova, manga, art posted wedding event. Just wait in the future. ガンダムの未来
I didn’t know the project existed until maybe 6 months ago, so for me I would say it was worth it but if I waited for 20 years I would probably be disappointed.
What likely happened is the studio wanted to make a third series but the producing company refused, thinking it’s not worth it Finally, after much delay and strong pulling by those who care, we got this
Gundam SEED Freedom is not the worst Gundam movie, but for a movie that has been in production for 18 years (per the interview before the film), the animation is absolute shit. It's like they had their interns working on the film. There were scenes where the character heads were HUGE. An Evangelion-esque scene towards the end made Kira and Lacus look like they were skinny aliens with deformed propotions. It was awful. The plot of the film could have worked if the new villains were given any sort of character development whatsoever. There was this really cool in concept group of knights who barely did anything beyond a couple of grunts and a girl who kept saying she was going to kill whomever she was fighting. In fact, pretty much all of the new characters were trash. Kira also got to pull out his last minute god mode scene that also felt like something ripped right out of Godannar. The fanservice on Lacus' suit was hilariously bad. Worse, Shin was a much better character than Kira in this. How the hell do you mess up so badly that you make Shin look competent? Even the fights seemed to get progressively worse as the movie went on. First off, there was no oomph to any of the battles at all. The movie lacked bass, which is unacceptable for a movie released in 2024. The rear channels were practically non-existent. The opening battle at the start of the movie was by far the best fight scene while the fights kept getting even more fantastical than the last to the point where the final one felt like it was ripped out of a typical Shonen anime. Finally, I hate to say it, but the dub kind of sucked in this one. Easily the worst Gundam dub in a decade, if not longer. It was like they decided to have the voice actors bring all of the cringy acting from the original SEED dubs back rather than giving it a proper one despite having the new voice actors. There is one crying scene of Kira (because heaven forbid Kira not cry like a bitch for once) that was just painful to listen to. He had no emotion, but had to force himself to provide one. Athrun was easily the best voice in the film, though that could be because he didn't have much dialogue. He did get the best line though. Overall, I didn't hate the film, but I didn't particularly like it either. The rushed plot felt like this was supposed to be a full series that was cut down to a 2 hour movie.
I watched it in netflix and I will rate it 3/10. The story was dated. Fighting scenes were ugly and low Keyframes...sometimes I just couldn't figure out what was happening ... take an example of "gundam silver phantom trailer" then you can see the different.
watched the move last week in NL, was good, would not give it a high rating due to the fact so much CGI / stuff is happening its really hard to know WTF is going on but its still a good enough move to watch.
It definitely scratched the fun gundam itch that g witch lacked. It does gives me an annoyance with how they just gave up explaining any grounded tech work that gundam is known for in recent shows too. I want to like the justice, but man the x wing backpack isn't it. I prefer the zgok. plot was fine. echi ntr scenes were...laughable, but a staple to the director's work. Overall fun.
let me do you one better, where is gomorah,i mean meyrin..hahhaha ..really worth the wait. still having goose bumps if these things gonna be on its real deal with the tensions around the world.
Hot take shinn asuka was always a good character he is one of the reasons I tolerate destiny i prefer my protagonists with serious character flaws i prefer shinn over kira and athurn zala
Of course! - didn't mean to imply he wasn't a good character. Just that the writers continually jusy gave the audience more of a reason to dislike him as the show went on. So its nice to see him get a little bit of love
@blackknight-oz8bi Just him non stop screaming and lashing out at cagalli/athrun etc. With some being warranted and others not at all. His hot headed temper specifically telling Athrun that "the higher ups think I was right" when he gets released after he freed Stella WHILE she is currently going on a massive murder spree and the audience knows it etc. Plus just simply putting him at odds with returning cast / leads in every scenario possible is a good way to make him dislikable whether he's right or not and I think they knew that.
Ok fair points shinn is literally a kamille clone and was kamille really that different (every fist fight kamille gets into with the arguma's crew) 1 him yelling at cagalli is justified it was her family in charge orbs neutrality that left them practically defenseless and led to the death of his family i don't think anyone would act differently here from his point of view sure he didn't know all the details of what was happening at the time but we shouldn't expect him to know that 2 stella was literally dying what do you expect from shinn when athrun is acting like char during zeta about four of course he is going to yell at him kamille would have done the samething we shouldn't expect shinn to know neo was going to put her in a MA gundam (yes it was naive of shinn to trust him but so is a good chunk gundam mc's) Ok now here is my last point shinn is psychology damage clearly suffering from survivors guilt and possibly other mental issues you made him sound like a pycho when he went after luna but left out that he was literally having a mental breakdown and lashing out at anyone near him that scene makes me at athrun more than anything (and personally shinn should have won so he could have a rematch with kira) he doesn't explain or truly reason with shinn he gives this half assed speech no matter how much you want you can't bring anything back and your going to kill the future to some how get him into joining the protags triggering his ptsd and Causing his mental breakdown here orb represent only pain for shinn why wouldn't he be ok with destroying it athrun dosen't try to argument that it his family's home he should remember the good times he had with his family and is ok with destroying his only last link to his family
@@blackknight-oz8bi The talk no jutsu Athrun was doing was a huge debuff on Shinn's mental state. Every victory Athrun had over Shinn is marred with an asterisk. Based on the movie, Shinn would demolish Athrun now if they were to fight 1v1
I am not sure if i am the only one that feels this way, but i thought the latest Gundam movie was a joke. Like for example, the entire theme being “love” is already suspicious enough, and then them going to ridiculous lengths (to fight and kill) just for this so called “love” is high key cringe. At least the original series 20 years ago had better reasons to go to war. No offence, but my friends and I thought this was more of a comedy than Gundam 😅.
I wouldn't say love was the only reason - they jusy fired a death beam from the sky. They use it as motivation for Kira to get a grip in the moment more or less and thr obviously it ties things together at the end too
@@GundamHQ I mean that’s also true, the death ray was a very good reason for war. But don’t u find it a little over the top that Kira-lacus being the main theme of the whole show. **Spoiler** Like Kira was really being an insecure c**ck at the garden party, and how he just whines abt lacus not accepting him while getting his ass handed to Athrun. Also Agnes, girl literally betrayed the team just cuz she fell for some hot guy, and fought Luna cuz she actually also loved shin. And that scene when everyone’s bae came flying in naked mid battle was just hilarious. And when mu blocked the entire Requiem?? Damm, I know bro has a lot of experience blocking laser cannons in the first and second seasons, but an entire requiem? Like the entire set up made me wonder if the director and scriptwriter were high when they did the movie.
We gonna need more from seed. It has so much room for more content. Shin was my favorite character followed by kira and athrun . Weird because i hated shin in destiny. I didn’t really like lacus and feel kira was better off with flay 😂
The ship combat was so good in the movie. If they make another movie or a series that adds more to the movie or a sequel movie or series, we are gonna have some great designs. I kind of want to see a Hizack in the cosmic era.
Kira has liked Flay since he was a student, and the fact that Kira stuck with Flay because he was tired from fighting and because he felt responsible towards Flay for not being able to save Flay's father made Flay miserable. @@monette5349
@@setsuna200 Finally someone also noticed how good the battleship sequences were. It really had a Gundam the Origins and Yamato battleship vibe in my opinion, really well done.
Well im gonna watch the subbed version of the movie no point of watching the dubbed since how pronounce some of the names is off and biggest one is the they never brought back the old voice actors to reprise there roles
1. Love it. More Gundam seed is better than no content. 2. I still don’t like the relationship between Kira Yamato and Lacus Klein. He’s a Taurus, and she is an Aquarius. It’s like a union between a zodiac of the East is in love with the Zodiac of the West. In real life, these relations are pretty rocky and have issues with one another, and so i feel it is unrealistic, even in the show. She doesn’t act like an Aquarius because your typical girl is a tom-boy or says bad words every ten seconds. 3. Kira’s character growth is more realistic. I could relate to “old-Kira” in Seed and Destiny because he’s in his mental armor. He’s less sociable and more in his own world for his own protection. In Seed Freedom, he reminds me off Anakin Skywalker before he loses Paddme: He is wondering why he’s not stronger with so much expectations placed on his shoulder. This made Kira more realistic and human. 4. My favorite will always be Strike Freedom. It’s emblematic when Lacus meets Kira to receive it, and the fact that Multi-vector targeting and striking is its superpower. Mighty Freedom looks like that on steroids with the multi-hitting, but the katana was never needed except for close combat, and i feel it’s redundant. I feel that Mighty Gundam is starting to look a little like Gundam Belial from Iron Orphems, and the Freedom will look more and more angelic.
Watched it in Shibuya on one of the final screening days and my expectations were absolutely rock bottom and they were met. It was terrible and stupid as hell and kind of an insult to the gundam legacy but I also had a good laugh. Being angry at it 20 years after Destiny would be a waste IMO. I kind of look at it as a well produced B-movie, while not schlucky enough, nothing makes sense, and the many sexual harassment scene at the worst moments were jaw dropping. Kira is a dumbaas and a control freak and he freaks out the moment he loses but once he's given more power he's back to his old self (seriously, he's just nothing on the inside but lacus' guard dog) while athrun is just a stone cold ninja and Agnes is absolutely insanse and dangerous and her being a part of Compass made no sense from the start. The only character that kind of made sense is shinn being the naive young man he always was and having that fragile ego but wanting to do better by those he cares for. It was awful and I'll cherish watching it, being shocked at how dumb it was and getting some nice gacha from gundam base on the next day.
What did you think about the movie? Hoping for a sequel? (PS I'm using the old English Dub names not the new ones )
It became fun when I stopped thinking about how they messed up Lacus/Kira's strong characters.
yea give me seed justice. with a new ij backpack with guns that doesn't make the beams on the wings useless.
I hope there's more SEED honestly. Love the series as a whole. Lol, I haven't seen the remaster so when I heard them pronounce Lacus as Lacoos and Yamato was a bit jarring but apparently Lacus is pronounced like that in Latin?
Well, I can finally say that my love for this franchise is 100% over. Goodbye, Gundam. It's been fun. Time to move on.
The lah-koos killed it so bad let's be real
Them referencing Badriguel and Nicole is really good.
Also SEED is probably the last Gundam series with good battleship combat. This movie doesn’t disappoint on that side. That Millennium mid-air brake moment is so cool.
00 had OK in S2 although poltlmy is OP
Nothing outside of Ptolemy causing a tsunami by diving into the sea, and ptolemy gliding across the orbital elevator on (Arios) Transam and serve as cannon platform for Seravee and Cherudim. Season 1 Ptolemy was designed weapon-less and season 2 Ptolemy Kai also barely had any “standard weaponry”
IBO has that battering ram moment, and AGE has the battleship transforming, that’s it 😂
The whole Badgiruel tactic and the Artemis arc! That’s some of the best stories from way back
Yea its like nicole invented the myriad colloid system when it existed on gundam astray gold frame long before he got his hands on it. Badriguel head into all attack maneuver wouldnt work without the impenetrable shielding.
War tactic wise which is not in oo@@Matanumi
In Japan during the release of the movie in January they passed out mini novels explaining some of the events that happened between Seed Destiny and Freedom. Like Athrun and Cagalli going on a date, Agnes backstory and some of the cast members just enjoying peace. I really enjoyed it and the few people with me who aren't Gundam fans enjoyed it as well.
I hope there will be a Gundam SEED Justice movie focusing on Athrun and Cagalli.
The Rising Freedom grew on me quite a bit. Also the music did fantastically.
Totally grew on me. My favorite freedom now.
And they completely trash it during that OP at the end of the first part
I liked it more than the upgrade

Absolute Gundam Peak Cinema
I SEEDed inside the theater when I watched this and when Kira said "I am the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom" this made it the most mobile suit movie of all time
So funny
@@exxzanesurprised they’re not tired of this joke yet
100% agree, this needed to be a multi-part OVA.
I fell in love with the Gyan Strom.
So this movie is basically bad despite it's spectacle? Exactly as expected.

“And Destiny for the video I’m working on currently” oh my god thank you 🙏
Destiny Gundam Spec 2 was my favorite mobile suit, but i'm a shinn fanboy lol.
I’m pretty sure he had more screen time.
It feels like a pilot movie to a 3rd season of Seed. I wouldn't mind if they did a 3 part OVA
Same a short series where they could expand on some characters would be cool

It was a super fun, fulfilling, and action-packed film! As a SEED fan since 2003, I loved every second of it. Every character was done right, and overall has a wonderful conclusion.
Seed was a series that dropped and I grew up with. It is my UC timeline. Still love all the timelines but this is special, the first gundam movie I've seen in theaters. Animation was amazing and there was a nice piece from everyone before they bowed out each character.

We need a Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead of the movie following Yzak and Dearka stopping the military coup against the PLANTs. Those characters and that plot point are woefully underserved in the film.

The movie was great 🎉
The soundtrack is awesome. Its online now. As a Seed Fan, it was pretty perfect. It could have benefited from a 3 ep OVA like you said for sure but if this is the final time we see these characters, it is a fitting end.
SPOILER ALERT
The original char theme blasting when athrun comes to save the day in the Z’Gok was just so fun, it’s such a good callback and was one of my favorite moments
you know the big part I liked about the movie was the plot that was going for the plot of lacus and Kira’s and their relationship where It’s being challeng for each of them.
I felt the first half was fuckin amazing and continue the World building of CE that I love so much about it....
The second half.... drops the ball a bit....
But you know what? Shit overall I'm happy with the characters, the world and the story MOVING FORWARD. This movie should have came out in 2008-2010 so we wouldn't be stuck murmuring over the ending events of Destiny and how awful it was ending
They did what they could with 2 hours time but ironically this would have been so much better as three long OVAS
Saying that because that's what endless Waltz was (although shorter OVAs) then it became better as a movie

The villains were a big part of what I was referring to with reused motivations sadly :(
Yeah they really needed to be fleshed out more.
Not gonna speak of Shinn cause all his scenes cement in my mind of how much of a whiny bitch he is 😂
Action wise, it was alright. It was mostly acrobatics with little tension. It felt like the fighting didn't compliment the dialogue. They overused the sixth sense detection to where I wish it was just mu and Rau having it. The telepathy + mind reading black knights was also really lame, But it did give us a glimpse as to how Athrun feels about Caga with the nudie thoughts 😂
Now I definitely feel like they lucked out with the OG Seed series with writing/action/visuals.
@@GundamHQrelationship with orphee kinda like Judau with Haman.
THE MUSIC IS HOLYYYYYYY
Plus, the scenes with the Archangel and the Millenium could benefit from that time and give us the play by play of the tactics and strategies that make them such awesome warships.
this whole movie is a big fan service and im all for it.
I am indeed waiting on an opportunity to watch this movie. I enjoyed SEED and SEED Destiny. Thing is though, hoping to see it dubbed. Subtitles we do not do in our home. I am okay with that.
Is there dub from the 2004 cast?
My favorite from seed is and always be anything Shinn pilots cause no matter what anyone says, Shinn started out as a interesting character in destiny, being different from your normal protag and I feel they had more planned for him and from what I heard I'm glad the redeem him in freedom. It's like I was saying, there is never a bad character, just bad story telling
I think it was great. Earned a lot of money to fund more gunpla. Not perfect obviously, but it delivered. I'd say it's a 8/10 overall.
Am I the only one that was confused the entire time? I didn’t even know who was in what mobile suit half the time.
Yes, The most important thing that they did to this movie is the redemtion of Shinn. The director and writer did a great job for him here. Thank you Gundam Seed franchise.
Quick fact for people, the script for the movie was completely all the way back in 2008,
Finally! Another Rising Freedom lover!
Just saw it last night and it definitely beat my admittedly kinda low expectations.
I didn't see the movie and won't see it......................😊
I only watch Gundam SEED (and Destiny) recently. Watching Freedom is a really fun treat
Also, this is more of IMO. But SEED Freedom is more of a Super Robot than a Real Robot. Especially with the story against Mad Scientists and their Super Minions with the Power of Love and Determination among others. Still, its not bad its what actually what make its so fun to watch
I DO wanna watch SEED FREEDOM, when it's available online. I love Hisashi Hirari's character designs.
If the producer want to make another SEED series, i hope that they could explore other side characters like Lowe Guele (Junk Guild), Gai Murakamo (Serpent Tail), or even Canard Pars (an Ultimate Coordinator beside Kira Yamato).
They have so much materials to be explored.
Also, if they want to make love drama of SEED series, just make Yzak and Shiho to be the main couple.
Everything was amazing i just wish they would hsve given us a sense of direction at the end of the movie on what they were gonna do next if anything
it feels like some of the dialogue sequence in the movie deliberately made faster as if they're trying to make it fit with the duration and also make some room for special edition release for the years to come with extra scenes
As long as you watch the Sub, all good. The Dub…. HELL NO.
Lot to like about this movie and hope there is a Seed Justice.

fan service movie
Exactly - references were overflowing
It was worth waiting for this movie.
I personally thought this was the worst gundam movie my god the first 30 minutes was just hard-core flirting and sexual tension like come on
LMFAOOO I don’t know about the hard core flirting but word
Hot take shinn asuka was always a good character he is one of the reasons I tolerate destiny i prefer my protagonists with serious character flaws i prefer shinn over kira and athurn zala
Of course! - didn't mean to imply he wasn't a good character. Just that the writers continually jusy gave the audience more of a reason to dislike him as the show went on. So its nice to see him get a little bit of love
Name a couple reasons before stella died and kira became the main character again
Ok fair points shinn is literally a kamille clone and was kamille really that different (every fist fight kamille gets into with the arguma's crew)
1 him yelling at cagalli is justified it was her family in charge orbs neutrality that left them practically defenseless and led to the death of his family i don't think anyone would act differently here from his point of view sure he didn't know all the details of what was happening at the time but we shouldn't expect him to know that
2 stella was literally dying what do you expect from shinn when athrun is acting like char during zeta about four of course he is going to yell at him kamille would have done the samething we shouldn't expect shinn to know neo was going to put her in a MA gundam (yes it was naive of shinn to trust him but so is a good chunk gundam mc's)
Ok now here is my last point shinn is psychology damage clearly suffering from survivors guilt and possibly other mental issues you made him sound like a pycho when he went after luna but left out that he was literally having a mental breakdown and lashing out at anyone near him that scene makes me at athrun more than anything (and personally shinn should have won so he could have a rematch with kira) he doesn't explain or truly reason with shinn he gives this half assed speech no matter how much you want you can't bring anything back and your going to kill the future to some how get him into joining the protags triggering his ptsd and Causing his mental breakdown here orb represent only pain for shinn why wouldn't he be ok with destroying it athrun dosen't try to argument that it his family's home he should remember the good times he had with his family and is ok with destroying his only last link to his family
@@blackknight-oz8bi The talk no jutsu Athrun was doing was a huge debuff on Shinn's mental state. Every victory Athrun had over Shinn is marred with an asterisk. Based on the movie, Shinn would demolish Athrun now if they were to fight 1v1
Seed Freedom was a true tribute to both the original series and seed destiny.
**Spoiler**
Like Kira was really being an insecure c**ck at the garden party, and how he just whines abt lacus not accepting him while getting his ass handed to Athrun.
Please do a full recap of freedom
We gonna need more from seed. It has so much room for more content. Shin was my favorite character followed by kira and athrun . Weird because i hated shin in destiny. I didn’t really like lacus and feel kira was better off with flay 😂
The ship combat was so good in the movie. If they make another movie or a series that adds more to the movie or a sequel movie or series, we are gonna have some great designs. I kind of want to see a Hizack in the cosmic era.
Ah, yes its better if Kira keep having stockholm syndrome with Flay
Old mu is back which for me who has only watched the new dub was actually a negative
its just more gundam seed. whether you love or hate seed, how you feel about it will remain the same
I spoiled myself abit by reading a reddit thread... But at least I don't know the plot that made it reach the point 😂
Can confirm: I did in fact eat good - An Athrun fan 😂❤
the lips man, why do they have to draw them like that, they pop out so mcuh
It's not that good story wise. The only good thing about the movie is, the nostalgia.
For sure - it not very complicated while also being very rushed. I still think overall its an enjoyable watch tho
@GundamHQ yes, the Mecha battle is good.
