    WE HAVE DONE AN UPDATED OVERHEATING TEST WITH AIRFLOW, CHECK IT OUT HERE: th-cam.com/video/NO3X1sqnQIQ/w-d-xo.html
    PLEASE NOTE THAT THE THREE ACTION CAMERAS WERE PURCHASED IN THE UK AND HAVE DIFFERENT TEMP REGULATIONS TO OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD.
    Also, For anyone wondering why the Insta360 ONE RS shows a different time on the back to that being reported, this is because the Insta360 splits the video file into sections and restarts the timer/timings for each clip saved. Yep, I agree, its stupid.

      @DustyFingersRC ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. I was not aware of the different heat regulations in the U.K. Can you tell us more or point me to a video where you explain this?

    • @TheCameraManReviews
      @TheCameraManReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DustyFingersRC Yeah we have EU rules on temp. Not sure exactly what it is, but the device cannot go above a set temp. If you have the device mounted to something with airflow going over it, then it is totally fine.

    Thank you, my friend, for your honest review. Turns out Action 4 is not as good as sponsored reviewers say. You just saved me from wasting my money.

    • @silverpro8356
      @silverpro8356 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      You do realise that 20mins for 4k 60fps is the best you are going to get out of any action camera. I have the dji action 4 and it is incredible and certainly better than any othe action camera on the market. It overheats less and has less bugs than any other camera. You have to realise these cameras are very small and no camera in their form factor is not going to overheat its just not possible.

    • @gayshrink3190
      @gayshrink3190 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@silverpro8356 And I hope you do realize that this is the ONLY video out there so far that is willing to say the Action 4 overheats. I've heard most reviewers say it doesn't.

    • @silverpro8356
      @silverpro8356 ปีที่แล้ว

      Every action camera will overheat on 4k 30fps its just the nature of having something so compact and small. I know alot of these youtubes are sellouts and don't tell the truth about products also but the action 4 is a great camera. @@gayshrink3190

    • @EduardCupcea
      @EduardCupcea ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes this is the only video I saw that showed finally the truth, I bought action 4 but will be returning this now, as I was filming in a more hot weather and had it overheating after only 10- 13 min at 4k 60 fps, and this make it useless. Iphone 13 pro max holded for 1h on 4k 60 fps and was still going, I had to stop the test because it was more than enough, but could do way more.
      Iphone pro max on gimbal is the best camera so far for 4k 60 fps, unless you go for dslr and bigger gimbals.
      Its a shame the camera looks good and the format is so light but its so limited. They should make a bigger version with better and more cooling, would buy it straight away.

    • @1Know1tHurts
      @1Know1tHurts ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well, guys... Even though I said I won't be buying this camera I bought it anyway. My particular camera is AWESOME in terms of overheating.
      At 4k60 it died after 80 minutes (the battery died). Being plugged at 4k60 it overheated and switched off after 105 minutes! At 4k25 I cannot make it overheat but it writes something about a slow memery card (which is not) after 2 hours of recording and then stops recording (you can resume immediately).
      I use default settings and my camera is straight out of China. I know Europe has regulations that if the camera reaches certain temperature it must switch off. Looks like USA and European versions will have these issues. I had GoPro and Sony ZV-E10 before and this camera is better than both of them in its ability not to overheat.

  • @PaulMcKillop
    @PaulMcKillop ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Thanks for doing this. I think for a brand-new camera, the A4 stands up well. Given the time in production and the marketplace, GoPro has had a lot of time to fix the issues with firmware, if that's the issue. If it's a hardware issue, that's a lot more concerning.
    Of course, we don't know whether the A4 has hardware or firmware issues, but their record on fixing issues is good; recall the focussing issues with the A3. I would hope that they'll have plans to introduce defect fixes and features that didn't make it to the camera by the release date. I expect the dates to be controlled by just about everyone other than the developers, like finance and marketing, for example.
    Thanks again; straight to the point, and no patronising. You let us make up our minds, and ask for our opinions. That's not the case with every reviewer.

    • @rockel83
      @rockel83 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The A4 is just a slightly improved A3 with a slightly bigger and focused lens. So it's actually a shame it took them 1 year to solve the A3 problems trying squeeze out customers by just putting a "4" on it's case.

    Tried my OA4 in full sunlight today and it shut down because overheating after a few minutes.
    Started at 4K 60 fps, then 30fps, then went to 1080p 60 and 30 fps.
    With the last settings it was usable but still shut down.
    very annoying.
    No, wind, full sun and 28°C...
    I have never had that issue with my OA1.
    U guess I will have to make a little sunscreen over it, or wrap it in a white packaging...

    Action cams sitting on a table, indoors, static... it's not exactly their natural habitat.
    Also, they're meant to be used on a mount which exposes the bottom to airflow. Cameras dissipate heat through the chassis. Sitting them on a table is blocking a significant percentage of their surface area.
    Tests like these are a bit like blocking 25% of a car's radiator and then redlining it while stationary on a hot day. By all means, you can do that, but it's not how most people use their cars.
