If you want to break into any market, regardless the product, you need to be better than your competitors in one of three ways. Be cheaper, be higher quality, or have better service. Cheaper you've decided is not your route; higher quality, as you're discovering, is difficult to break into a market with. Focus on service: Can you offer same day delivery? If you're twiddling your thumbs not selling firewood offer free stacking - it'll only cost you time. Make commitment to service your niche.
Second; stop selling firewood. Nobody *wants* to buy firewood. Sell comfort, warmth, romantic evenings, pioneer days, security during power outage, etc. Those are the things people want. Firewood is the means to get there and they'll buy from you because the other guy is only selling then firewood.
    Good luck!

I will stick to my original answer Justin your prices are fine let the cheap guys Sell out and when they run out in midwinter your sales will go up. It just takes time!

I would not lower your price. As firewood sellers we need to raise our prices as the cost to produce has increased. I would also like to see people sell oak for a higher price then mixed hardwood. If you invest in truckloads the return takes twice as long to bring to market due to dry time.

So true... alot of people want oak but it is not as easy to get and dry time is a big factor like you said

Be patient. If this is your first year selling it takes time. Give your customers the best experience and if you do they will be back to you when they need more.

$70.00 will get a short bed pick up load 60 miles west of STL Missouri. That will be fresh cut and split red & white oak, self pick and load.
Joe from OWB channel will encourage you to do you. Like you I would not go lower on delivered wood. Hang some business cards at the farm and supply stores that handle wood stoves and fire pits. Place cards at your self serve racks, or a sign that people can take a picture for reference or to pass on. The firewood business is much more word of mouth and reputation than others. Hang in there.

    My 2 cents
Not to disrespect, this is what I would tell my own son…
If doing something (even part time do the best you can do )
Appearances matter, details matter, sell wood that you would put in your own fireplace, if it’s free but not great species don’t sell it use it for your own use, cut your wood straight and all the same length, stack your wood straight, and in organized sizes to make it easier for proper amounts. dry your wood properly
Make systems and routines, limit how many times you touch the wood. Don’t just split all day and have a stack, looks lazy and careless so client might think your product is not valued by you so they don’t want it or want to pay less for it.
All this being said, you might be in an area of saturation(competition) you will have to do something to stand out..Lots of people cut their own wood the ones that don’t , don’t want to stack it pick it up all they want to do is put it in the fireplace when guests are over and light the fire for a few hours. These people have higher standards and expect to be catered to so oblige and charge them for it( as long as it’s premium wood) because they are not fools and if it does not burn well you won’t have repeat customers. Rather than lowering your price offer bundle of kindling or free stacking or some sort of extra value added to separate yourself from the competition. In the end the person that can make the best product for the cheapest with good customer service will win…capitalism at its best so get competitive and work smart and hard otherwise half ass and get half ass results…
    Cheers

You’ll be fine it will take time he’ll takeoff Aldo. No I asked for just don’t take crap from people about you charging too much. If you charge to much let them do their own damn firewood it’s a lot of work just don’t be like Joe the joke.
