    I just got my fold 6 yesterday, and the specs and video reviews really dont do it justice. It really is a phone you need to spend time with in person. The crease is 90% gone. Its very barely visible even on a white/light scene when watching content i need to view it at an extremely unrealistic viewing angle to see it clearly and you only just barely feel it even compared to the fold 5. The front screen may only be .1 milimiter larger, but it feels much bigger than that, and 100 percent more comfortable to type on. The square edges really make it look and feel much bigger, and the hinge is no longer part of the front screen, where you can feel it or see it when doing anything on the left side, making it feel much larger as a result. It feels like you're holding a normal slab phone, especially if you go caseless or use a very minimal case. The weight also makes this phone feel fantastic and comfortable to hold. The fact that there are absolutely no gaps makes it feel even more complete and less bulky than even the 5. Honestly, if next year samsung can increase the battery and make it even a milimeter thinner with better resolution screens, it will be a fantastic phone even without an internal s pen slot (lets be real while it would be nice to have almost all of the reviwers have praised phones over samsung that have no pen support at all).
    Long story short, even if you have the 5, it's a worthy upgrade, especially if you use it a ton unfolded. There is definitely a noticeable difference, and it DOES feel like a different phone.

    • @Techtablets
      @Techtablets  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes the crease is better and like I said in my video when you use it you don’t see it only if you go looking for it you will. But yes coming from the Fold 5 not worth it really but the 4 and below 💯

    • @SayanOfRagnarok
      @SayanOfRagnarok 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @Techtablets with all do respect I don't agree especially not if you're in any country that gets crazy trade in deals that samsung offers. I got mine for 424 dollars. There aren't many flagship phones you can get at that price point day one. I also think there is more to a phone than just specs on paper. Is this phone going to be pushing the bleeding edge of folds? No. But it does feel way more polished than any other samsung fold. Just the improvements to the hinge and weight distribution alone coupled with the better cooling and larger front screen make it feel way different. I've tried switching back to my 5, and my hand immediately knows the difference. If you use your phone for 10-15 hours straight for work or productivity like I do, then it is definitely a noticeable upgrade. If you rarely use your phone any way or only do light browsing or just keep it in your pocket most of the day, then no, it's not worth it. It just depends on your use case. If you're a heavy user and you dont want to switch to a chinese brand or a different ecosystem to get the best hardware, i think it's an upgrade for core users who want the reliability of the samsung brand theyre used to. The internals might not be something to write home about, but the design improvements really increase the usability and feel of the phone substantially if you use the phone a lot. I'm currently caseless and it doesn't heat up anywhere close to the 4 or 5 which made it uncomfortable to hold on your lap or in hand even with a case.
      Dont buy it if you're paying full price unless you're loaded. But if they offer you a deal, I think it's worth it

      @SayanOfRagnarokThough your comment may make sense and Samsung does offer you one of the best smooth buttery one UI experience on top of Android with a stellar multitasking experience using their S-Pen or your finger pair that with their new AI features and you're getting the best software in the market. That's true. But if you look at a graph and make a bigger picture their Hardware has gone and so complacent that even that 1 mm difference between the 5th generation and the z-fold six. That's nothing at all. If you have never played around with a phone that has a bigger cover display like I did at my local Best Buy when I tried the Google pixel 9 Pro fold, it may not have the multitasking and software features. Samsung offers, but you're getting a regular sized cover display which makes more sense? S, you are not gonna be opening your phone very often. So I'd rather have a decent size. Cover display and cameras that have a lower pixel resolution. But definitely perform better than what Samsung offers on their folding devices. And let's be honest, they have to drastically change their hardware. If not, they're gonna fall behind 2 other foldables. That are being sold in the market of europe.And what is offered here in the united states

      @@derondickson2424 no one picks the phone up on the side, but with the front screen facing up. It means the thumb will be touching the front screen and the index will be on the back. If the fingerprint scanner is under the screen or on the back side where the index finger lands, then that’s it. On the side you have to make a new unnatural move to reach that button.
      Either way, the best thing is under the front screen or Face ID (even better). On any button, it’ll be lame. I had all and my family too (they get my older phones) and the feedback corroborates the natural response: front or Face ID.

      @ricarmig when I pull my phone out of my pocket, my thumb is on the side of the phone not the front. I've always hated the screen print reader because it's much less convenient and takes longer. You have to double tap to wake the screen up, then press the sensor. With the side scanner, you can set it to unlock as soon as you put your thumb on it with no press required. Literally instant unlock and in a more ergonomic location.

    I really have enjoyed your videos and I watch them often because they are simply from the heart and not a selling point and you always talk key features on every foldable device. You have reviewed and things that they need to address and fix giving you my honest opinion Samsung has the best software in the world when it comes to their candy bar style phones and they're foldables. But if we're going to talk about Hardware, I've seen you review many foldables from the Chinese market that honestly don't have Flagship style cameras like their candy bar counterparts but are better in terms of the hardware or designed better than the complacent design Samsung has adopted for many years and like you said in one of your comments of the video and you are correct jumping to the z-fold six from the 5th generation. It really isn't that much although the software has been more optimized and refined on their new fold, even that 1 mm difference on the cover display is nothing because Samsung has gotten so complacent with their design that after playing around with the pixel 9 Pro fold at my local Best Buy here in the United States. I realize that it makes more sense on the cover display because it's bigger and it's the size of a regular candy bar phone. It may not have the greatest multitasking and software capabilities of Samsung but I do share some key points of view like you most people want to have a bigger cover display and honestly, how many times are you going to open your phone to use the inside display? I only do it if I'm at home. So once I have the ability to trade my z-fold six, I'm going to go with what Google offers because their phone went through a totally different Hardware change and redesign from their first passport style and the bigger cover display is a plus for me.

    Personally I’m thrilled for Samsungs releases this year. I work at a carrier in the US and many iPhone users are considering switching to Samsung due to the playing ground being leveled. Between sleek design, RCS chat *big*, and comparable cameras it’s finally a personal preference rather than social preference. Personally trading in my old iPhone 6s for $800 off the fold (3yr contract) and keeping my 13 Pro to easily swap sims if I feel like I’m going somewhere my Fold6 will be in danger 😅
    You nailed it at the end if you have a 3fold or earlier it’s absolutely worth upgrading. Users should be keeping their phones for 3 years.

    Great review!
    I'm really on the fence here. My Note 10+ is aging; I changed the battery a couple of years ago and extended its life a bit, but it's clearly nearing an end of life stage. The safe choice would just to go for an S24 Ultra, but I am genuinely aching to try something new, like a foldable. The Z Flip and the Razr 50 Ultra both look awesome (I tried the former in the store, and was pleasantly surprised by how solid it felt), and the Z Fold looks awesome too. Add the Oneplus Open to the equation, and there are just a few too many options.
    I multitask a lot and have been using my phone as my main device for a long time, so I think a foldable makes a lot of sense. But when I can buy an S24 Ultra for cheaper and get a tablet with it for free... I dunno. I just can't seem to agree with myself. 😅

    Interesting review. Like many other reviewers that parrot each other they focus on the features. Also, for some reason reviewers no longer test for call quality. Hmmm! a device that you actually talk and listen with, and no one actually thinks to test for that. Come on give us something even it is just the carrier that you have a plan with. That would be better than nothing. Sad state of review quality.
    The people that are going to buy the Fold are one of two categories.
    1. They have plenty of money and $2k for a mobile device is not a problem, or
    2. They are serious users that use a mobile device to run important aspects of their business or life. If you need security, communications storage, networking capability and running your business on cloud apps then the Fold 5 or 6 are great mobile tools. They give you enough screen real estate to get work done. I laugh at reviewers that scroll up and down and use that as a demonstration of the speed and overall performance of a mobile device. When will they get serious 🤣?
    However, the reason I use a Fold or a couple reasons:
    1. Samsung build quality is superior to its competitors. I speak from practical experience. My criterion for that statement is that I have actually used my Fold and competitors' devices for over a year now. Samsung quality wins hands down. It is one thing to measure a phone while it is new and bright and shiny, but how is it 6 months or a year down the road? Most of these reviewers have limited vision and fail to give the phone an honest review after they have really used it for a while.
    2. The other important aspect is when you do have an accident and you need it repaired quickly Samsung has so much more going for it. 1. They have company stores around the country. 2. Nearly all phone repair shops have inventory or quick access to Samsung parts. Other manufacturers, not so much. 3. Remember it is Samsung Electronics, they not only build mobile phones but a great variety of electronic devices. Manufacturing techniques, R&D, and other aspects of the organization go into helping Samsung family of products grow and get better.
    Judging by the lack of understanding as to what it takes to bring a solid mobile device to market, reviewers focus on what is easy and what their limited knowledge gives them vision for. Binging a device to market is a major undertaking for any organization. Just the hurdles that they have to overcome with government rules and regulations is staggering. Then they have to worry about protecting their IP. Not to mention the speed at which technology moves. Finally, you can get to the business of Sales, Marketing, Production and Support. To be honest I am surprised all manufactures do not move to a 2-year update.
    Most reviewers blather on about features and fail to look at the mobile device and company and judge it as a whole. As a consumer, how serious can you take a recommendation from someone that shows such lack of understanding🤨.
    Given that the Chinese makers are making inroads in the features race Samsung should be concerned. However, as a user of mobile devices, features are only one aspect of device ownership. Do you really believe that OnePlus, Oppo, Huawei, Vivo and so on have the network to really support their product as well as Samsung does theirs?
    When I look at the market Samsung has 2 real competitors in terms of complete sale and support. Apple and Google, and Google still has quality issues they need to overcome.
    As a consumer and a business owner I must look at all aspects of device ownership. When the Chinese competitors step up their game, I will gladly give them due consideration. Till then I say "Prove it" that you are a better mobile device.

    • @racerboii6086
      @racerboii6086 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Absolutely correct. I have used extensively my fold 3 for my office use. The device is meant for different purpose other than all reviewers are doing it. It helps a lot on the go productivity to taking multiple video calls or video meetings and working simultaneously. Email is smooth. Least to bother about high end camera or games or drawing picture. The target customers are different and certainly not for general mass . I am happy with fold 3 and still doing good. Few important things the call quality with automatic background noise suppression is better than any phone and antenna is really good for reception compared to other phone including iPhone, as I also use iPhone as secondary device. Obvious issue or downside is repair cost . For any repair whole phone needs to be dismantled and for inner screen, whole body needs to be changed. This makes the phone expensive to repair.

During launch, the price can go as low as -60% when you bring in your old phone. For example, currently I could purchase the Pixel 9 Pro XL for 500 by bringing in my S23 ultra. One advantage of getting a Samsung is that you can trade it in for a generous discount for a newer Samsung model down the road... you cannot do it with Chinese phones, there is not much value for such phones aftermarket. For example I just traded in my S23U for the Fold 6, paying only USD780 after all discount and trade-in... cheaper than all the Chinese Oppo, Xiaomi foldables...
    I used to go through specs with a microscope... but seriously, in daily use, you are not going to be bothered with saving a few mins over charging speed, or pixel peeping over difference in megapixel ...all you want is a reliable phone, with top software, security updates and a great resale value... not to mentioned DEX mode and SPen which are not found anywhere else...

    If not for the fact that trade-in options are nearly Samsung or Apple exclusive here, I would not have considered the Fold 6. Battery life is the biggest concern. Even with their software management experience, the Samsung folds lag behind the rest in endurance, and they haven’t improved in years. Samsung doesn’t seem to feel pressured to compete yet.
    In addition, the outer screen is still too narrow for comfortable typing. Their best aspect is their dust proofing. Other phones have a higher failure rate from dust intrusion.

    Thanks for this review. My Z Fold 4 is beginning to lag a little, so I will be making the upgrade (and in the US, the trade is pretty sweet). And since I mostly use it for work, I'm okay with some of the hardware aspects not being the best, as long as I can use it for office-related purposes.

    I've had two folders, first the flip, then the fold. Both the screen "liners" started to delaminate at approx 12 months, starting at the crease and working their way outwards.

    I ended up upgrading to this from the Fold 4 but that was purely because of the insane discounts. Managed to drop it down to $1880 from $3057 for that price. If I had the fold 5 then it's not worth it.

    • @Techtablets

    Is this worth the upgrade for someone with an iPhone 13 Pro Max? I am deep in the apple ecosystem and would probably only keep my iPad, Apple TV and MacBook.
    I’d also trade my series 9 watch for the Samsung Watch ultra. The idea of a folding phone for emails and watching media is appealing.

    I think the lacklustre cameras would be the biggest dealbreaker for me. If I was paying that much for a phone I'd want the cameras to be top end not just 'acceptable'. 45W charging would help a lot with the mediocre battery life too.

    As someone who never owned a foldable nor Samsung's ecosystem, do you guys think I should get the Z Fold 6 or the Vivo X Fold3 Pro?
    Where I live, their stores are literally next to each other and they both officially sell their foldable, so I'll get full warranty on both

      I would strongly suggest you get Samsung for a couple of reasons:
      - it’s been around for much longer and now it offers 7 years of updates
      - theres is no other foldable with a very good spen support and Samsung OS

      @@xXxIonutCSxXx I mean tbf these folds won't last anywhere near the 7 year mark. Could also just use another argument about far superior hardware in every aspect as a reason for the Vivo.

      @@yuria3411 I wouldn’t keep my phone for more than 2 years, it’s about the way that Samsung has updated their policy about the fold, if you have a Samsung ecosystem, it’s just perfect.

    I tested it in the store yesterday and how it evolved!!!! thin, beautiful and "easier" to open... Samsung continues to be ahead of the Chinese in software and sells everywhere with guarantee...no need to import and 7 years of updates.
    But I should buy the flip for the price....In Brazil, almost no one buys it, so it never drops much in price... the flip drops in price absurdly.

    • @Techtablets
      @Techtablets  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The design is very nice, very premium feels great in hand and yes the software was mentioned in my review is the key reason to get it over the Chinese foldables.

    I ordered the fold 6 but i decided to also order the s24 ultra 1tb. When the fold 6 get here im sending it back. The idea of owning the fold 6 sounds more fun then it makes sense to actually own it. The outside screen is still too small, and to be forced to use the inside screen due to the lack of functionality on the narrow outside screen takes the fun away for me. The price is way too high to justify no camera upgrades, same battery, it being a hair bigger on the outside screen and shorter. Im mean come on we're getting less or the same with just ai software updates that can easily come to other devices and they will. The s 24 ultra still beats the new fold 6 and both devices get 7 years security and software updates. Keep in mind the s24 ultra came out the same year as the fold 6 and their only months apart. Why get ripped off hundreds of dollars just to say you have the latest disappointment?
