He should be using the storage units to "teleport" steel. They can come out of them so the new superhighway is kinda useless if he just puts some on the other end
They can?? I thought as soon as steel is put in the storage building they can't be taken out for use in crafting. Only used for when you build roads/buildings etc.
id love to see matt actually building an efficient city, somewhere on the same map or on a new save, without the funny bits and with actual checking of the production manager and not overproducing massively all the time.

Every now and then... He'll actually do something efficiently in one of these types of games. And then he ruins it not even 30 seconds later almost every time. But it's also why I watch.

He does say all of the residential buildings, and residential buildings are the name given to level 4 buildings. So he’s basically saying ‘all level 4 buildings are level 4 buildings’.

As someone who has over 100 hours in this game. I recommend the "everyone can go where they want" approach to intersections
I tried using the lights and traffic manager and well found out that the computer does a better job at it then me.
The problem is with the car AI, I had to rework the interchanges so many times, to finally decide thatsingle lane superhighway is the optimal choice. Infraspace really needs better traffic simulation for being a traffic simulator game...

@@SoIrace looking it up, the sterotype seems to be architects hand engineers pretty looking building that are not structurally sound at all and engineers would design a building that is tough of nails but hideously unpleasant generally speaking.
I'm starting to think Matt has split personality... and the second personality (subconscious architect?!) takes over whenever he launches InfraSpace, Cities Skylines maybe Planet Crafter too - all goes for looks, shits and giggles without any effiiciency in mind.

Serious question here from the US, are you familiar with a "Michigan left"? Basically, instead of turning left at an intersection you go straight through into a designed u-turn, where you go back to the intersection and turn right. So, I live in a town of ~8,000 people and they just redid the main 4/5 lane road with about 5 "Michigan lefts". There is about 3 stop-lights on this stretch of road, and the Michigan left "architecture" seems completely over-engineered to me. Do you use these "Michigan Lefts" when you design roads, and under what circumstances? Seems to me like the road architect got cute, and made a bunch of unnecessary complications when a left turn lane/signal would have been more practical and efficient

I laugh and then I yell at my iPad because you’re oblivious to the obvious or do something extremely dumb and then can’t figure out why things aren’t working! I need to learn to embrace schadenfreude and just laugh at your misery and fight my natural inclination to help! It takes work to just point and laugh for people like me… hahaha
Two things that are bothering me about the endgame of infraspace..
* When buildings upgrade they get super tall, but you can't move them when at this high rank- Meaning you get huge shadows and extremely suffocating street views, since you placed them as if they were lowrise low density residencies. This is just not aesthetically pleasing and also not really realistic, no house has a view to anywhere and the streets will never see a minute of sun.
* Traffic AI is really dumb- Last minute lane changing
Also it seems dumb that there's no punishment for making unnecessarily long routes, like the squiggly tornado'ing supply routes Matt's made.

I'd rebuild the residential area so it was fed through one way roads. Nothing ever comes out anyway.
Also possibly have a gigantic 6 lane ring road for resources that gets feed by each manufacturing sector. That way there's no more traffic jams.

instead of doing math, because why, open the city production feature and add buildings and you'll see in real time the supply you need to make it work.
Pre-traffic lights I would have my city in a grid with elevated freeways that had off ramps feeding the housing.

Hey I tried to fix my colony in infra. What I ended up doing is making roads straight or right turns only or in british left turns only so there is limited cross traffic. Then again I did not have traffic lights at the time haha.
You know that he's a architect (he's just in the deining fase). all his infratuctures waste meterials and eficientcy. He also thinks that a pp shape is the strongest shape, but its a triangle

Am I the only one disturbed by how high level a colony needs to be before it can build schools?
Also why did Matt stop making spacecraft design game videos? He made a ton of Kerbal Space Program videos but apparently hasn't done one in over s month unless I missed something on the video list. He made one Next S[ace Rebels video back in January but never continued it for some reason.
Well, once you get the colonists there, then you worry about them having kids and needing a school. It's not like they're sending children to fill jobs.
Yeah but what about people who had kids before coming to the colony? I doubt they have some singe, childless person only or only childless couples allowed law in place. Eventually they would almost certainly have trouble filling the slots they need to develop to the school building phase with such a limit. And there's not really a logical reason they couldn't establish schools early in the development or as soon as they land.

I'm torn. I want to be an architect, but I love your videos and I can't decide.
One of my DREAM CARS is a Bi-Turbo Mercedes-Benz G Wagon AMG series. But since I 100% absolutely CAN NOT keep ANY of my cars factory stock (2000 Subaru Forester L with a swapped Turbocharged H6 engine, 1991 Civic Si Hatchback with a japanese B16 engine swapped in, 2005 Toyota 4Runner with Japanese badging (Toyota Hilux Surf btw) along with a bunch of TRD parts and last but not least my 2012 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4wd with a built 6 Cylinder with a TRD supercharger slapped on top
.... among the 4 other project Cars I have that are slowly being built lol. ) ALL my cars need a built engine or a Turbocharger and/or Supercharger or BOTH if possible! Go Go Gadget Giggity!

Large building that only holds 16 people? Obviously an architect designed it. Though it’s probably 16 families instead of 16 people. Each one gets 2 floors all to themselves, 1 floor counts as living space for the family and one holds a simulated outdoor green environment for people to play and spend time in.
Is removing traffic lights the "engineer way" to solve traffic issues? "Choice" sounds more like the architect way...

i found the answer to your problem... at 3.09, some of the traffic is driving on the left (english), and then it changes to the right (us), good luck, i hope i never go on any roads you've designed, lol

So wait, does the "fixing traffic nightmare using real engineering principles" refer to you removing the traffic lights and letting the cars sort themselves out? Because I'm pretty sure 'trust people to take care of themselves' isn't a real engineering principle.

I wish the drill acted like a combination off all the previous mines as well as digging up adamantine. it would just make running it a little bit more satisfying.
As I watch these I realize that my game's traffic problems are the result of me packing everything in too close together. Clearly I need to make more space and then fill it with highways.

Had to fix my roads so resources could make it to the research centers just so i could get 4 lane roads all just to have to demolish my work and replace it all with four lane…
As a licensed engineer the only people I despise more than architects are project controls people. Never responsible for anything, but thing they are in charge.
