    There is also a sound setting in OW2 that alerts you when an ally or enemy has been killed. Each one is OFF by default. Turn them on! Your eyes are not always allowed to wander to the kill feed, and your team won't always communicate.

    • @DanielJParish

      I could tell that there was no longer a sound when enemies were elim'd but I didn't know there was an option to turn it back on! Thank you!

    My takeaway:
    1. Use cover be protected and for reloading
    2. Learn pacing of hero cooldown cycles
    3. Tanks are tanky, play the map instead of fighting front to back
    4. Turn around and check for teammates before engaging
    5. Don’t tunnel on kills and ignore objectives
    6. Pay attention to pacing of ultimates, and pushing the attack while also knowing when to play passively to control space, understand who will be the highest target in any situation and play appropriately around it

    That last bit is very important that a lot of people miss with their guides
    You are GOING to mess up, you are GOING to make tons of mistakes.
    It's not a possibility, it's a certainty.
    Instead of putting yourself down for making mistakes or blaming it on others, understand that we are human, and mistakes make us who we are
    For people who tilt easily like me, I recommend making replays, and watching over them once the tilt wears off, seeing where you went wrong and where you could've done better, it helps me a ton, not just in improving, but in tilting less

As a support main, It frustrates me when a tank and/or dps just don’t wait to group up for their supports and just push on their own and once they die they’d blame it on us. I think part of the issue with what you're asking for is that the game has so much variety it would be difficult to talk about it all. In a broad sense, this is just saying play corners and then when you have cooldowns and your opponents team doesn't push forward and look for a place to hide when you don't have cooldowns anymore...or more or less what he mentioned in this video lol. But to go more in depth than that is not only would come to breaking down which tank you picked and abilities you have access to do these things, but also what heroes the teammates around you are on, what heroes the enemy team is playing and even what level you're on. Someone like Rein is going to play Hollywood very different from DVa due to their kit and the areas it allows you and your team to easily gain access to. They care somewhat about different enemy cooldowns and have different timings and ways to utilize the effectiveness of their own cooldowns as well. There are probably some overall general tenets that you can apply, but I'm not sure how much of that is going to be any different than what he already mentioned in this video. Just my thoughts at least.

I’ve studied a few of these and applied it to my gameplay and noticed a significant increase in personal skill however this game hinges so heavily on others now its so frustrating. I don’t know if its the influx of new players due to it being f2p or not but I spend multiple nights losing game after game. My solo que experience has been horrible so far this year. Everyone trickles in after first death, random resource usage, supports in front of tanks, dps alone. I rewatch my own gameplay and assess to ensure I’m not making horrible mistakes but beyond this I really do think the secret to climbing without banging your head against a wall game after game is to find a team and play only with them which sucks as meeting new players on OW1 was always great fun.

      i think the gm/ master differs for role to role. as a tank player controlling the pace of the engages are crucial and knowing the enemies win condition as well as yours. like taking a dry fight to force out ults knowing the enemy has way too many ults for you to win the fight. right now zarya genji ana lucio are some of the most played heroes in comp at the highest level. as a zarya main myself if i know my lucio doesnt have beat for enemy nano blade i will save my grav for it. so on and so forth its hard to put out a definitive guide on what seperates gm from any other rank to many factors.
      sometimes its just can you aim better.

    Nah that last part sounds bad imo. Believing that you can apply all this and succeed while 4 people in your team will NOT do the same is borderline insanity. The belief that one can rank up alone is what makes ranked so destructive and makes people salty all the time. There's no salvation for OW. You can make all the excuses in the world, or even say I'm making excuses for myself, but in the end of the day if you can lose because one guy decided to play wrong, your rank isn't about how good you play, it is about how lucky you got. There's no system to reward YOU, theres a system to reward you for a WIN. That's it. If you play godly but still lose because a dickhead picked Kiriko and didn't heal, you are punished too. Now apply that to 10 losses while YOU still did great: you will still derank.

    • @D4veTheNinja
      @D4veTheNinja ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dude you really forget that it's random. if you're the best guy on your team for one thousand matches, and there's always gonna be the rng of your team or the enemy team having a leaver/thrower/bad player, then you will eventually climb. Not playing your best just because everyone on your team is not up to your standards is simply just lazy. Absolutely there are games you can't win, but with that attitude you can't win the winnable games either. Remember, all you need is 1 small % more than the enemy to win a match. Be that 1 % better than them.

    • @ninthfriend3347
      @ninthfriend3347 ปีที่แล้ว

      Win streaks happens regardless. Loss streak happens regardless. Games that feels close and gives you ebb and flow is what really matters to you. It's like a rollercoaster experience.
      This type mindset in reading is bad and is an example of your teammates being the problem. Your mindset should be solely on yourself, you are the only factor of being in this rank. Getting better is about being more consistent as a player. If you can be more consistent as a player, overtime you'll climb.

      @@benjamindains6906 yeah just yesterday i played a game where i told everybody to go top route on numbani and even pinged it. the soldier and mercy did not come with us: rein, sym, and ana. this actually caused us to lose the game as the soldier died immediately without even doing much damage. edit: he also didnt use the corner or his healing station and engaged before we did.

This is easily one of the best beginners introduction to "higher-level" Overwatch fundamentals that I've seen. Definitely sharing this with new players who are just starting to learn the game. Amazing work!
