New subscriber here. It is so nice to see a Canadian doing grocery hauls (I live in Ontario as well). Watching U.S TH-camr’s grocery hauls are depressing lol seeing their prices compared to ours.
Hi Karen...thank you so much for watching and also for subscribing to my channel...I really appreciate that! I get depressed watching the US grocery videos too since I can't believe how much of a difference there is in food prices!! Not to mention the coupons they can get...I wouldn't even know where to look for those! 😄 Take care and I hope you have a lovely evening!
Karen.... you also need to take account, yes, prices are cheaper in the US , BUT also wages in Canada are usually higher ( yes we pay more tax because of entitled health care for everyone, therefore at the end of day.....prices are relative to the "norm" in the US // Just an FYI, if you call for 911 ambulance transport.... you will only get a bill of 45- ( 2022) and thats it.....provincial health insurance pays the rest.
We are a family of 3 from southern Ontario and the food and gas prices have had me so discouraged lately. Our grocery bill has doubled in the past year and every time I try to set a smaller budget it just doesn't seem to work out with what we end up needing. Thank you so much for this video. I hate watching the American hauls because I wish our prices were the same as theirs. You've just gained a subscriber. I'd love to see more of these haul videos. Keep it up!
Hi Jennie! Thank you so much for watching and for your message! It really is discouraging to budget when every time you go to the store, prices have gone up again! The coffee, I mentioned in my video has gone up another $2 since then! It's crazy! I really appreciate your support and I will definitely do more of these to show the increased prices! Take care and I hope you have a lovely day! 🌻
Greetings from Cuba. I think it's interesting to see how much the grocery is in Canada nowadays, besides I can training my ears listening to you 😅 thank you. New subscriber... Like 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Hi Alana excellent video again, it's amazing to see the difference between the prices with you and the prices in the UK, it's certainly cheaper here, but the way things are going up we will all need two jobs to eat, we go to a place that sells everything in bulk so we are very lucky, we are just starting to eat lettuces out of the garden, and i think growing our veg is going to save us a lot of money 💰, hope you are all recovered after your recent illness, until next time take care and stay safe 👍 .
Good morning Kelvin! Bulk shopping is certainly the way to go...it really does save money if you have the space! We like to get our flour, sugars and oats in bulk, especially since I bake so much! You are so right about having to work two jobs to eat...it is getting out of hand and the fuel prices just went up again! People won't be able to afford gas money to get to their jobs soon! Our garden really help take the stress off grocery bills in the summer...we are very lucky to have them! I feel much better than I did...thank you my friend! Take care and have a lovely week! 🌻
Love the video I hope you can show us more of baking and out doors living My dream to have a life style like you have so please show us more so we can learn I enjoyed the video Thank you
Hi Ana! Thank you so much for stopping by and for your lovely message! I will definitely be continuing more videos like the ones you mentioned....I look forward to making more and I hope you enjoy them! Take care and have a wonderful evening! 🌻
I grew up outside of Lindsay. Sort of nostalgic seeing these scenes but the prices sure aren't! Also, stocking up on the Wednesday or Thursday before a long weekend is ideal so it is less of a full contact sport! Hoping you made it ok through the storm that followed this filming. We were out of power and water for about 72 hours.
Good morning Elizabeth! I think I spoke to you in a TH-cam group chat a few times...I remember us talking about you growing up near Lindsay, I think?! You likely know the store I was speaking of when I mentioned the full contact shopping! 😅 We were really lucky during that storm and didn't lose power, thankfully! I hope you guys were okay too! Have a great day and thank you for watching! 😊
Hi Alana , new subscriber. Very nice channel , I enjoy learning from you. I love the olde fashion slower lifestyle, there’s a lot to be said for it. I live on Long Island NY , suburbia… a few short years I hope to have a little spread in the country. I eagerly await getting back to the “roots” lifestyle. Anyhow in the meantime I’ll be checking out your videos.
Hi there! Thank you very much for watching and for your lovely and kind message! I will keep my fingers crossed for you to find your little piece of the country one day soon! Take care and have a great day!
I'm on the east coast, the scheniders pepperettes six months ago show in your flyer $4.88 they've been $10 or more here for a few months. Cheese whiz was 3.49 it's now $5.99 for 100g & the cashmere tp $5.99 is now close to $12 when not on sale
Hi Vincent! Those price hikes are ridiculous in such a short time...I can not believe how expensive things have gotten! I sure hope things get better! Take care Vincent and thank you for watching! Have a lovely evening!
Prices of food is higher here in the States too Alana. I am learning to eat healthier, and have cut out sugars! I don’t waste as much. Only buy what I will use.
Hi Geri! All great ideas...I need to lay off sugar as well...I think it will be cheaper and healthier all around! Prices are just getting crazy as is the price of fuel too!
I am a new subscriber and enjoyed your video. I agree that running from store to store for sales does not save you money. I am wondering if you have a dollar tree in your area. To help cut costs I purchase my bleach there when purchasing greeting cards. In Windsor where I live a large bottle of bleach there is $1.50. It is the lowest price I have found anywhere in Windsor. Just a thought Thank you for your videos.
Hi 👋 30 minutes east of Ottawa. Things are getting harder. I am preparing a lot more vegetarian meals. We do have a Costco nearby and I get lactantia butter for $4.99/lb plus 4-1lb packs pf turkey for about $27. I make one lb cover two meals. I have a lot of food allergies to deal with so that adds to my challenges.
Hi there! It sounds like you definitely have some good tips for saving money..vegetarian meals really are a smart way to go because meat is so expensive! I find that I don't need or want to eat a meal every day using meat anyway! Food allergies would be tricky to deal with when you are trying to save money. Thank you very much for watching and I hope you have a lovely Christmas!
Good morning! The food prices are just ridiculous and they don't seem to be getting any better! I'm glad there are resources out there to add a bit of relief...we have a food bank in our town and they say they are quite short of items as the number of people visiting have drastically increased. I hope it gets better one day! Have a great day and thank you very much for watching!
Hi. Thank-you for the video. I'm just getting serious about budgeting and planning and was thinking how do people do it, of course I've been watching videos from our friends to the south. Just curious if this is your average weekly spending? Could you give me some insight into what a month or weekly budget should be per person in the household. Thanks from a family north of the GTA. 😊
Hi Tanya...I am really sorry to have not responded before now as I just saw this message! As you have likely noticed food prices are still climbing since this video and it is scary! $9 for a package of lettuce is crazy! I find for our family of 3, I usually budget about $150/ week and try to stick to that. Sometimes it is less depending on what is on sale and also what I am able to use from my pantry stash. I am working on getting better at planning meals as I think that is definitely key to stick with a budget. I fall off the wagon a lot when it comes to that unfortunately! My New Year's resolution should be to really work on that skill! I hope that helps and that you have a lovely Christmas!
Hi Teresa! I had no idea about the recall until you mentioned it...scary!! I did check it after I read this and luckily our jar was okay! Thank you for the heads up!
Mussels (at IGA Boischatel, pis suburbs of Québec City) : 5$. I am of Belgian héritage, so like you I try to make my own pancakes, soups.. /I learned in 2021, during covid, that across from Renfrew, in Shawville there is a monopoly held by Loblaws who has the local Valuemart. It is about 2$ cheaper for same items in a NoFrills, in one area of Ottawa, as the store owners seem to be Middle Eastern, under 30, and because of their high turnover, seem to give volume discounts. (Eggrolls, ready to est, with porc: 8 rolls for 12$). I Belgium, in 2022, life is cheaper for groceries, but my 80 year old parents, who dismantled their fire place and woodstove, are shivering at temperatures of 18.5 C..(it gets humid/damp in Belgium...). (Even my employer Auberge Aux 3 P, no longer gives extra large portions to employees for 5$...So then you know...to feed is to care, especially if you do the job of two waitresses)
Hi Nathalie..thank you so much for watching and for your informative message! Food prices are rising everywhere it seems! I feel like we have been fortunate with so much choice of food for so long that we are really taking notice now. I hope your parents are doing okay In Belgium and they have a way of keeping warmer during these cold months! Take care and I hope you have a great day!
Hello thanks for the video, I appreciated it if you answer my questions. first I want to know which one is cheaper store Walmart or Costco, after that I want to know that if I could find any no "name products" on those stores. thank you so much
Hi there! I am sorry my response is so late as I just saw this message. I used to go to Costco when I had a membership but don't go anymore. I found that I spent way too much money at Costco and since most things are bulk there, sometimes food would go to waste. Also, the closest Costco to us is an hour away and with the price of fuel, it doesn't make sense for me to travel that far. I do find Walmart cheaper for certain things like toiletries and such but again, the closest Walmart to us is about 40 minutes away. If I watch the sale flyers, I find shopping at our local Foodland and Food Basics store saves me money and I can usually stick to a budget of $150/week for our family of 3. All of our local grocery stores usually carry a no name brand of most items I find. I hope that helps and I also hope you have a lovely day!
Thank you! Really helpful, I'll be moving to Toronto soon and I always like to have an Idea of What I am getting into :D coming from a country that goes through hyper-inflation every few months, I can't say the inflation there really scared me but I can imagine what people who have never experienced something like this might be feeling.
Hi Mina...you are very welcome! Thank you very much for watching and welcome to Toronto! I hope you are able to find some pretty good deals at the grocery store...I find if I pay attention, I can usually save a few bucks here and there. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your new city!
Great video! 16oz of butter 3.69 2lbs lemons (5-6) $4.09 8ct granola bars $1.89 5lbs clementines 7.99 A gallon of milk 3.24 Ribs on sale $4.99 a lb We’re in South East Michigan USA
Good morning Suzi! Your prices seem very similar to ours...I thought they would be cheaper than us but definitely seems comparable! Hopefully things get better soon...I feel bad for people with really large families! Thank you for watching and I hope you have an amazing day! 🌻
Good morning Alana. It's getting harder and harder to go to the grocery store. Went last week and spent $200.00 and really didn't get nothing. I'm in North Carolina. Food and Gas prices keep going up don't know what people are gonna do. Especially the elderly that's gotta choose between food and their medicine. Ain't gonna say what I really want to TH-cam might not like it. Take care and have a blessed day and I'll see you on your next video.
Good morning Billy! That is so sad about the elderly having to choose between food and medication...it shouldn't be that way at all! This is just getting out of hand and people can't afford to go to drive to work due to gas prices!! Hopefully we all see some relief sooner than later! Take care and I hope you have a great day! 😊
First of all, you looks so young with out make up.... I love your 'down to earth in a soft manner' you have. Yes, the food is expensive I would think all over the world right now. I live in Europe UK and I pay far more now that I use to. Things I use to buy or £ 1 now it is £ 2.50 or even £ 2. 75 .. Nearly everything is gone up and just surprise after I bought everything I need it is now now double a price what I was use to pay before. Here in England UK I find the fruit and vegetables is expensive... and of cause all every item is cost at least double ...
Hi Elizabeth! I am really sorry to have taken so long to reply as I just saw your lovely message! Thank you so very much for your kind words...you are really lovely to say such nice things! It is really crazy the hike in prices for everything, isn't it?! It seems like you are right when you say it is a worldwide problem as I watch the news and everyone seems to be in the same boat! I went to buy some lettuce the other day and it is $10 for a package of romaine hearts! That would be one expensive salad! I suppose it will be like the old days when we eat seasonally and treasure fresh greens in the spring when we can grow them again! Thank you very much for watching and I hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas!

So insane...at least fuel has come down a tiny bit (not much though!)
