This is the video I needed! Now I understand haha. Thinking I might just wait and buy a in season RMK Matryx 850. Should still be a noticeable improvement for me!
Great video thanks for all the details. You were right about selling out, just talked to my local dealer that has three shops and they are all sold out of the boosted stock they were allocated.
for MY22 Polaris has 2 models of Matryx Mountain sleds that are turbocharged: * Boost Pro-RMK Slash with 163 x 3 or 165 x 2.75 & QuickDrive 2. 447 pounds * Boost RMK Khaos Slash with 155 x 3 or 155 x 2.75 & QuickDrive 2. 447 pounds Erik, as you mentioned the KEY feature of the SmartBoost system is the Large Electronically controlled Wastegate, mounted on the side of the tuned pipe, that feeds exhaust not needed to create boost, directly down to the forward section of the muffler. That allows the exhaust that is going to spin the exhaust turbine, that powers the air compressor wheel, out the end of the tuned pipe as intended and directly into the turbocharger, with no interference or restrictions. The tuned pipe and the impulses/waves that it uses to help pack unburned air & fuel back into the combustion chamber, are not obstructed and can do their job to make horsepower.
Thanks for the video, even though I had already ordered a 155 3" boost. Didn't even know really all the great things about it. Just knew this was going to be epic.
You mentioned the improved ignition package for the motor, are those improvements across the board for both mountain and trail sleds both boosted and non-boosted? Thanks for all the insight in the improvements and upgrades.
I have a 2018 146 sks with 2.25 inch track. Ordering a 2022 146 matryx slash. I don't go to the mountains but mainly ride cross county in fields to find powder in tree lines and meadows. Love boon docking and wheelies. Should I take the 2.0 or 2.6 inch track?
I'm in the same boat. Tons of deep snow where I live, but flat. I have to ride some trail to get to the good areas so I'm leaning 2.0 track. I wish someone would do a specific video on the Khaos146, but I haven't seen one yet. (have a 2020 SBA now and don't like the wide front)
@@BigHouse907 HI Martin. I had a 14 bcx and a 15 assault. My 2018 sks 146 just a blast compared my last 2 sleds; carves way easier, wheelies, just a hoot, fun factor way better. Not sure what type of rider your are but most of the riders I spoke to told me to go with 2.6 track on the matryx slash. I will probably have keep an eye on temp in poor snow conditions (scratchers) Too bad there isn't a sled in between the matryx slash and the assault. I can always set my stance to 38 if it feels too tippy which is only 1 inch less than the sks (30-41)
@@gailgaudet8418 I agree on the "in between." I was going to get the SKS 146 last year, but I really liked the new 7s display on the '21 Assault. I held off until 2022 assuming there would be an SKS 146 Matryx. Oops....called that one wrong. It looks like the Khaos 146 may be the closest thing. I ride swamps and some trees boondocking. It's 200' elevation here and flat land. Lots of trails to get there, and the Khaos isn't exactly ideal for trails. I thought the SKS was their best crossover and they killed it off.
If I get the p22 clutch that comes on the 850 turbo for 2022 and put it on the 2022 khaos slash 155 2.75 lug q2 850 n/a, will it work? Or will the clutch setup will be all wrong? I like the 1lb lighter and idler bearing to achieve perfect belt deflection all the time
The clutch will fit and function however the cam arms are a different shape and thus calibration will have to be done. In other words you will have to work out what the appropriate weights will be...
@@TheVOHK so even though it's for the 850 it will have to be calibrated cause it's setup for more hp?... Cause at sea level where I'm at its only giving 10% more hp
If im understanding this right the matryx has 2 coolers under fuel tank and wraps around the front kind of like an sks? On the slash the under seat/fuel tank cooler is shorter, but was wondering if the slash still has the wrap around in the front? Thanks
7:30 You said extroverted drivers, does that mean Antislip type like skidoo has? I`ve been trying to google some pictures of it but have not found any where you could actually see the drivers. That a lone would be nice improvement. I have series 8 on my khaos now and track is super picky on tension (needs adjusting trough the day)
I am unfamiliar with the Skidoo driver. I said dual extrovert, rather than single center extrovert. It is like the Avid drivers you can buy for yours now... yes it alleviates slippage, additionally they improved the inner track durability. All of this will allow the track to run looser and not rachet.
Up here in Canada we were only alloted 350 boosts lol. Alberta and bc sold out of boosts in 4 hours and all of Canada has sold out in 72 hours haha I manged to get my hands on a boost but its a 10 hr drive to middle of nowhere lol
So I have a 2021 rmk khaos 850 155" 2.75 q2.... I'm in Michigan so low elevation, how much diff am I gonna find between the boost khaos 2022 and my 2021 khaos?
And you said it six and a half inch is skinnier than the Matrix Trail sled but how much skinnier is it from RMK chaos 2021 and is using a new clutch or the old one
I thought in the 2022 rollout that the boost was only available in the longer track lengths and not the 155. But you would know more than me. I must have misunderstood. Hopefully they do a 146 650 for our wife and kids in 2023.
Man you broke down the new sled way better than polaris ever could! Cheers
Thanks for explaining a lot of the new features coming for 2022. I love the details as well!

All 850
Thanks Erik for all the details, much appreciated!!
You talked about the cooling system was changed.. Is the new coolant system BIGGER or just diffrent?
Great job breaking it down.🤘🏻
Is it worth it to snow check a new Matrix 850?

You just cost me 18K lol
Hey @TheVOHK, is it just the Boost that is limited or the Matrix in general?
Thanks,
Did u order a Khaos 155 or a Pro 165/65? The 155 Pro not in the boosted line was a bummer.
Thanks for the DL👍

Yes both have wrap around cooler
Do you know if IQS FOX shocks will mount up, the ecu and wiring is what I'm concerned about...
Yes your previous FOX shocks will bolt up. The ECU is different and pin outs are all different...
Do you guys know roughly what the weight is on the slash boost and n/a?
I believe 55 Slash na lands just under 420 with boost appx 18+

@@TheVOHK Finally! thats great news! polaris should have put those in ages ago 😊
@@TheVOHK Thanks for this info! Are those double extroverted drivers only on the Series 8 2.75 track or are those gonna be in every track option?
Yes series 8 only
Did you say the other manufacturers haven’t done really anything this year. Sounds like you know something about Cats release 😅

The Boost ia built in 155 Khaos or 163/165 RMK
@@TheVOHK Thanks for the clarification. Is the Slash version available in both the Khaos and RMK models?
Yes Slash is available in both
146 650 pro rmk I think I saw
does it have the same power to weight ratio then the n/a.
It is of course a higher HP to weight ratio as the 20lb gain is far outshadowed by the 20 to 70hp gain depending on altitude...
What problems is the 2.75 having?
Due to the smaller driver there has been some durability and ratcheting issues
Did they fix this issue on all my22 sleds with the 2.75?
@@Matticus1701 yes as mentioned in vid the 22 is fixed with improved track durability as well as the dual extrovert and anti stab config
Thank you so much for this Erik. Say I did a 174 build this year and loved it do you think I’ll have to wait till next year for the 174?
Not certain of that yet...
One 850 skidoo rider has seen this video so far... lol
These new gauges can be monitored by forest service.
That's unlikely
Thanks for the great info!
