    Damn Jesse perfect timing on this video u & I were just chatting about me buying an xc or holding out for an xcr because of suspension vs my weight. Video was really helpful in helping me realize that if necessary I can set up the suspension on the xc to conform to my riding style and weight at a fairly reasonable cost. Big thumbs up to Bruce did a great job explaining the whole concept. What does Bruce ride? Thanks again…

    I’ve been tinkering with my 19 assault for awhile now. I’ve found the front springs just aren’t long enough and you have minimal preload adjustment. So I’ve found to just run them all the way stiff. I run the woody ace 8” and clickers are med in front. Front rear shock is 2 and rear is I think 5-6. Never touched the spring. The fucker will wheelie which makes it fun and it turns quite nicely if I wanna hang off and work it

    • @JESSEJAMES322
      @JESSEJAMES322  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you ever had your shocks freshened/revalved? If you have not i would highly reccomend it as youd probably have a much different set up. Assaults are an uncoupled skid so they do wheelie nice thats for sure and with you having the fronts cranked down thats lifting the nose to begin with! Either way as long as youre having fun thats all that matters!

      @@JESSEJAMES322 yea I honestly enjoy it quite a bit. I will be having them redone because I’m 240-250 full geared as well, so on the heavier side. I loosened the front springs it they ended up coming off the collar and gouging the shit out of the shock body from extending all the way out. Back to what I said then being to short for the shock IMO. I looked into the dual rate kit as well. For rear I need to double check the torsion setting. Think it’s middle

    Great suspension setup info. My only comment is the snow conditions change not only by the day but sometimes by the hour, so you could make changes several times a day which ain't gonna happen. Riding partners don't want to stop waiting for me to make changes.I find a happy medium and usually keep it for the season.

    • @JESSEJAMES322
      @JESSEJAMES322  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And that is really the ultimate goal is to find a happy medium. But with addition of clickers which are extremely easy to use you can really change your entire sled when you stop for gas or food juts by clicking away. Obviosuly you need to find that happy medium first and then adjust from there.

    • @JESSEJAMES322

      hey so inside ski lift can be tammed by a couple things. 1 add preload to your ski shocks. you only have 80 pound springs so add 1/2 inch (anything over a half inch wont change). you can go to 100 pound springs up front and also add 1/2 inch of preload (this will get the front of the sled up and some of the track off the ground) OR you can shorten your limiter strap which ive done a few videso on that ove rthe years

    Hey Jesse, I’ve got a 22 xcr 850 136 I bought slightly used. Not quite sure to be honest where the shocks are sitting setup wise. The rear spring is stock and is on the medium setting, previous owner studded the track with 144 studs. I put on a set of c&a xcs skis with. The 9 inch shapers. I weigh around 190-200. Any recommendations on starting points here? I thought I saw somewhere that the 22s came stock with the hd rear torsion spring but I didn’t know for sure

    Hey Jesse,
    I have a question similar to the one below. I ordered sno checked a 22 VR1 Boost either a 137, and the cobra track w/ 1.3 lug. Do you know if it will come with a standard spring in the rear? I’m 160, so I’m considering the HD springs. I’m just north of you in NH.

    • @JESSEJAMES322
      @JESSEJAMES322  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The boost VR1 will be coming with the standard springs. The HD for your weight really depends on how hard you ride. if you're always riding hard i would say go for them! if not then they might be a little stiff

      Hey Larry so we really went over evything needed to know in the video. Basic is you definitely need HD springs probably set on medium. CLickers set in the middle. Then ride and go from there. Can probably add some preload in the front ski springs

    Unfortunately bought a zr 6000 for my first sled although its plenty for me. Likes to push in corners and can’t seem to get it right for anything. Tried stiffer torsion spring setting and removed some preload from front skid. I was told to remove preload from front shocks as well to increase ski pressure and that sounds backwards to me. Any chance I could get a 1-2-3 of adjustments I can make to fix this issue. I understand there’s a lot that goes into this but at least if I KNEW what adjustments in what order I could figure out what else I need to do with the individual components based on results. Sure appreciate the vids but too much conflicting information. Ive got 500 miles of experience so knowing who to listen to can be confusing at times. Y’all seem to have your shit together!!!

    • @JESSEJAMES322
      @JESSEJAMES322  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      i am not overly familair with that sled at all but removing preload from the skis reduces ski pressure so that is in fact backwards. I would add preload to the ski springs and try that. carbides and skis are a huge factor into turning as well. may need some more aggressive carbides

    So a skinny guy at 175 lbs needs to change the rear spring to get it to handle. So if a skinny 175 lb guy needs the heavy duty spring would the extra heavy duty spring be stiff enough for a fat 250 lb guy?

      3" is known as a good goal for sag. Also you may want to pick torsion springs that get you to 3" on close to the lowest setting. That way you can adjust higher if you load the tunnel with a fuel caddy, storage, etc. or if/when the tunnel packs with ice/snow throughout the day.
