See, you could do everything perfectly and go out of your way to explain every single step of a process and you will still get hate. This is one of the most in depth tutorials I've seen on this website. Very professional job.
Adam Thanks for watching Adam but I think you might be watching the wrong tutorial. You might want to consider watching the tutorial on how to do a 99 dollar flea market tint job. Those guys cut out many steps and are very fast. Good luck and I hope this helps.
This is the second tutorial I've seen about this, and the technique is wildly different. The difference being the other tutorial I watched was all done within 10 minutes. This guy puts care and attention in to the work, and this is the best result. Why? Preparation, as with anything, will always deliver the best result. Good job, thank you for this video!
You are more than anything else, a talented teacher. You make it easy and very understandable and you pay close attention to detail and you repeat things that are important. Excellent job! That is a talent! Thanks, it's given me the faith to launch into doing my windows.
Ralph, thanks for sharing your skills in your video, I know years of mistakes and fixes brought you to this level of expertise. To share them freely says a lot about you. Your presentations are organized, clear, concise and understandable for all levels of crafters. -Keep it up!.
Absolutely superb! Who in the hell rated this video down??!!! 1. Pleasant to listen to 2. Clearly know what you're doing 3. Attention to detail like a crazy person 4. Great video work showing up close details 5. Excellent explanation of tools 6. Excellent explanation of methods 7. Excellent results nothing short of magnificent! Your video makes me feel like I could achieve this myself at home. I'm going to try. I may jack it up, but hey... fail UP! Heading to your website and/or email to check out buying tint & tools from you. THANK YOU! (Give my props to the awesome camera person & video editors too. You kept the transitions simple and minimal - stayed tasteful and didn't even once become distracting!)
My brother does this for a living and does many of the same techniques. You know when it's quality when the installer isn't worried about rolling the windows down right away.
Ralph, you are clearly a professional at this. I was going to take off all my door panels to work on my windows, but I don't think I will be doing that now. I appreciate the detailed video and tips. You really made tinting look so easy. I'm going to be trying this soon. Thank you!
Ralph Van Pelt you remind me of my tint teacher very detailed...and good work...not many tinters care they just slap on tint and don't care and don't clean Windows well they just want to make a quick buck....guess it's like that in all trades
Hey Ralph you the sharpest. And the realist without using a computer to print out to window tints stencils. I appreciate the game you throwing me . I even wrote your name on the back of my ruler with a JR at the end
Great video. I wanted to do some tinting a couple years ago and couldn't seem to get it right. Watching your video definitely helped illuminate some of the small things you can do to make it come out right. You say many times to "not be in a hurry" or "take your time" and I think that's really a key part. Again, GREAT VIDEO!
This is a great tutorial. I have no complaints on the 30+ minutes you took to do the job right. I wish you were closer to Iowa and I would come to you. I hope I get someone as good as you are and who cares as much as you do in doing the job the right way when I pay someone to tint my car. Thank you.
Can all the people who are putting this guy down post video's of their jobs and their skill sets so we can compare please? No? I didn't think so because you are all so insecure and non-assertive. Get some help, please.
Your video's have made my window tinting much more effective. After carefully reviewing your video's and applying your techniques my tint applications look 100% professional. Thank you for putting the time in to help others out!
Thankyou Ralph, Your time and dedication coupled with thorough explination and how you've slown down process for us beginners is truly what ushers us into attempting our own windows. Instead of glancing at our Kits and materials "and even some of us" ultimately giving up, your video's have not only given me courage to try but also the technique/skills to get the job done. Thankyou! Also have you ever thought about a career in narration?? Something I'm sure alot of us strongly agree you should look into!
Definitely One of the Best tinters in this world. Very Professional and clear step by step. Thank you for sharing your wisdom you have acquired though out the years. God Bless.
There's plenty of tint businesses out there, but very few who comes close to how he does it. I had my truck done at two shops and ripped it off before I left twice, then the guy did it the last time and said he redid the side window but he did not, I called him a liar and left. It's a shame people can own a shop and don't know how to tint, I'd give anything to know a shop nearby that come close to how good this guy is. Very rare to find someone with this much give a damn anymore.
+Ralph Van Pelt hi Ralph..today i must too tint Renault Laguna 2 rear window and this window is not easy....wich method is better too use? the soap method? thank you
I appreciate and love your videos about tinting! I tackled a car myself that was nothing but windows with no experience ever and it's still holding on 5 years later. thank you! I especially enjoyed the video you made showing an install with no special equipment! I believe you just used a card instead of a squeegee. That gave me the push to try it! Thank you!
After watching this vid and wanting to give it a go on tinting my own car. I actually would have you do it for me. I don't mind paying for a guy like yourself who is a professional at his trade. Thank you for an amazing tutorial into how window tinting.
This guy gives professional a new meaning. Love all your vids man. I could only wish to get a tint job to half of this quality. No1 in my area gives a dang what it looks like..
Ralph, You are 100% correct. You and I are 'Old School'. I see you, like myself, still cut your pushers to the size and shape you prefer from the old white 5-way tools. We remember when that is all we had to work with. I wish someone would now make them from a harder material and add Teflon so we could get the benefits of both the old and the New!
Good to see all the carefully done detail work. I had no idea applying window tint could be this elaborate. Looks fantastic in the end! Thanks for sharing this GREAT VIDEO!
Wow !!! Very good video. You make it look so easy !!! It was very kind of you for sharing this. I got my car tinted from a company here for $300. I still look at my car and do not see or understand how they did it. How in the world did they cut an edge that cleanly? Experience is the most valuable asset. Thank you !!!
I think its funny that you're starting/started a tint school.. As I was watching I was like "I swear this guy has a PHD in window tinting" haha. You're very good and detailed in what you do!
Man, thank you, first real complex, accurate, comprehensive and complete movie on the topic I've seen! After seeing this I know, I'm going to give it a try. :-)
you did a great job explaining everything. im about to tint my windows in my truck. i see your local to me, im in bama as well and about 100 miles north of you. its a bummer i already ordered my tint. i defiantly would have ordered from your website.
You are an amazing Craftsman thank you so much for your time and doing this video. It’s not every day that people show their trade secrets and I thank you for that.
I do tint and I notice a lot of different things and your videos are awesome the way you tint gave me a new way to tint and it’s working perfectly easier
Thanks! You very smooth and specific its very helpful info I'm going to start window tinting work tomorrow I'm the only woman in the shop very excited ☺
great video Ralph ,your obviously very passionate about your job , you have helped me do my car and to honest it turned out pretty good for a first time , cheers Ralph keep up the great work.
Thanks Ralph for the detailed post. First time doing framed doors. It just so happens that my car is a Scion xB and my wife's is a Cr-v. So this is my next weekend project. Thanks.
Just commenting to make 667 comments. I couldn’t watch this knowing that there were 1 less comment than 667. That number is not ok with me. Keep up the good work RVP, I’ll be trying out that nanoflex soon!
watched many helpful videos but man you really made a great video. I’ve tinted several cars already and found your videos extremely helpful. When in doubt lol I just remove the whole glass from the car.
Thats what i thoughts. Thanks for sharin the secrets of your skilled trade. Your videos have helped me a ton. Especially the snap shrink, double cut and shave techniques and of course the sharpie method. Thanks again
STR8 Money bra!!! I think I may attempt a side window again. I had tried be4 TH-cam was even a thing! I always just tried to slap it on a nice lubed up window. Never knew to cut the top edge and slide down. Cut my own top edge like 1/8-1/4 down. Needless to say it was sh!t. I would either keep my window all the way up or all the way down because I didn't want people to see the top edge. But I was also 18 and happy to have a 5.0 so didn't really care thanks for your videos they are very informative I wish I was able to see them years ago keep up the tutorials I love every one of them!
When I seen you draw your lines on the film but didn't pull film down I thought you would have under cut it, then I seen your bottom cut was below the line for the extra length for a good tuck under the window seal. Good work
depending on the film you use, some films have super fast tacking effect and you can roll up window without heat. I like to put alittle heat to make sure its not going to peal or bunch up, especially on cars with super tight seals. the car he is working on, doesn't have tight seals, so you can get all water out and roll up with most films without heat, I just do it for added security. 10 seconds of heat on each area, continually moving heat gun. great video !!! i usually don't use the method for making the fingers like he does, but i like it. might try it. i force fingers and heat them out. i don't usually get many fingers if any, only on cars with super tight seals.. but now i use a paper towel with a squeegee as i take water out, i don't spray more water on. it seemed like when i sprayed water and squeegeed it , water would find its way down and create fingers. again this is mostly on difficult installs where bottom seal is super tight.
Thanks Ralph for all your great videos! ive really enjoyed watching your videos! im doing research to start my own tinting business soon! thanks for the inspiration!
Holy cow this guy is friggen great... i need this type of service on my car, but unfortunately you dont receive this type of workmanship with regular window tinters, its all about speed.

I had no idea auto tinting was so involved. Thanks for sharing your process.
It's not.
You and the cameraman did an excellent job. Thanks much.
Nice work, so many hacks who cut the tint on the vehicle & damage the glass, trim & paint. Really nice to see someone who does premium job.
Thanks for the info. I got my windows tinted and now I feel I got a good job.I am happy with my guys from Quincy Ma.They have done it right.
The best and most detailed how to tint video. Off to tint my car now.

This guy gives professional a new meaning. Love all your vids man. I could only wish to get a tint job to half of this quality. No1 in my area gives a dang what it looks like..
I usually spend just over 2 hours on an average car. If I cut corners, I can cut my time in half but my quality also goes down.
Ralph, You are 100% correct. You and I are 'Old School'. I see you, like myself, still cut your pushers to the size and shape you prefer from the old white 5-way tools.
