      Its called reverse roll - where the liner actually switches and sticks to the outer film side when you initially roll it up leaving the adhesive "sticky" side exposed when you unroll it.

Can you please clarify this? And it's a very nice job! Did my windows at home 2 days ago.. and they are a mess lol. I might redo them.

    I believe in part the trick here is Patrick's skill and the other part is the high priced tint he is using, I used Gila tint from Wal-Mart and it isn't as easy as that. I have played around long enough and wasted enough tint to figure out how to do it with the cheap tint but I don't advise anyone to follow my efforts , doing this is like discovering the new frontier all over . I don't think many can get there where Patrick is using cheap tint and if they figure it out , its ten times the work.

    I'm a diy and I have tinted glass back in the day. Nowadays I have the money to just let a shop do it but these clowns raised their prices BAD......Like I guess COVID. Did a number. I flat out asked the last shop what the hell was going on and she said the tint product went way up. I don't believe it as I can go online and buy tint in bulk.
    Anyway.....I got my rear window all cut out but I didn't do all the prep on the outside like you did using a heat gun. I tried doing it on the inside. I threw it away so now.....I'm going to try it again.

  • @micky9229
    @micky9229 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    It appears that the film is put on the window on the wrong side, since the clear backing is removed from the side closest to you. I went to bed thinking this was voodoo.
    I woke up and realised that the "water spraying and rolling stage" held the clue (in magicians way of thinking) and was essential to this trick, where the film releases from the backing on the now wet side/glue side and transfers over to the layer behind it, thus when unrolled, the glue is in fact now near the window and the backing near the installer.
    *Genius!*

    Hey Dutch I was always under the impression that tint is supposed to go on the inside of the window? Is that a different style of film or something or am I just completely wrong? Please help me understand

      @@mikeprice8307 clear is only in front of the tint to protect the glue. It can't stick if you don't remove it

    Why don't you show the first process for cutting it into shape? Do you just place the product over the window and use a Stanley knife to trim it to size?

      just cut it a little bit bigger then the window... that's all

    Can somebody explain why the heatgun is needed?
    what it does ?

    • @yutotakedai
      @yutotakedai 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      jw200 Objects like these can only curve in one direction, like a piece of paper. If you try to curve a piece of paper horizontally and vertically at one spot, you won't be able to. Using a heat gun allows it to shrink, making a curve in the film in many directions, allowing it to curve exactly like the window.

    Just wondering.. what brand of film is this? I noticed this film is very good quality being that you were able to heat shrink the whole window at one shot with a lot of heat and didn't burn or crease and pretty much molded itself.
