    Her playstile is that of an acual snake lmao. She traps you with her projectiles, she slithers arround you stuff with her unconventional mobility and then after poisoning the opponent, she takes the final bite by doing massive damage thanks to Toxic Blossom. Makes sense considering that her visual motif is that of a reptile, hell her command grab looks exaccly like how snakes wrap arround their preys.

      she reminds me of DoA's Christie so much combined with Soul Calibur's Voldo as Christie has a snake motif and the snake kung fu style so AKI is like her

    The nice thing about AKI is that she's very good at opening up players who like to play defensively and bait DPs/punish combos. Even though the damage seems minimal, the DoT her poison applies puts a time counter on enemies and forces them to come to you and play on your terms if they don't want to hang back and lose 1/4th of their health from doing nothing.

    So far I feel like A.K.I is a good character but not op, her power feels relatively similar to rashid where the cool looking moves that they have are very risky to throw at most matches but can throw you off guard.

    She has no true anti air but lets not downplay just how good her st HK and cr HK are at functioning as such. Her cr HK low profiles her to a ridiculous extent and her st HK feels incredibly dominant in winning out vs all but the most disjointed jump ins.

    Her crouching jab is cancelable. And her worm into kicks can link into the low jabs, so you can catch ppl with some lows. And her fireball is AMAZING as a meaty. Also her level 2 destroys ALL projectiles, even Rashido's tornado super. Completely destroys it.

      @itsmedarneezey yeah, in sf6 generally crouching jabs are just mids (this might be true for every character, but i'm not 100% sure, i just know it's true for most characters)

    Aki's Standing medium kivk is underrated. It's plus on block, combos, links to standing medium normally. And if drive-rush, it's super plus on both block and hit

    With a.k.I and rashid the devs have been killing it with the dlc, making them these unique technical additions to the roster that offer their own flavor
    Sf6's biggest problem is it's tame roster, so I hope they keep up that momentum with ed

    Rule 1 when designing DOTs in your game. Don´t just make them deal damage and that´s it. The reason why RPGs can do DOTs is because they have a chance to apply or make it so you still deal damage while focusing on other stuff like healing. But in fighting games there is no point to having DOTs. The enemy can´t heal so there is no qhick healing before dying to it. It needs to deal more damage than the counterpart of another character like a hadouken. But at that point it is to strong because the DOT is no excuse to give moves ludicrous amounts of damage. You can make it so the move deals less damage on hit but over time more and the poison can be interrupted by damaging the opponent. But that would lead to extremely boring, hyper defensive and frustrating to play against gameplay.

      I feel like Bang Shishigami has a fairly decent version of a basic DoT. He can be played in a hyper aggressive way or camp you out with his wacky movement and projectiles, so a DoT shifts the risk/reward of your options. If you get poisoned you need to adapt to it quickly and think "he's probably going to play a lot more defensively now" and go for something aggressive. At the same time, Bang can read you doing this and use his moves that have block frames to counter your aggression. Shifting the risk/reward is a good aspect of DoT's, since previously "safe" options like crouch blocking now cost HP.
      There's so much wacky stuff in Blazblue though that a DoT is gonna be the least of your worries lol.
      With Fang and Testament I totally see the issue though, since they want to play a keepaway game regardless of if the poison is off or on. It's a frustrating combination where your best option is to run in and hit them but they constantly wall you out. It's one-note and the poison only makes that note louder.

      @@Zadamanim I am not to familiar with BlazBlue so I might be wrong and there is more to it than how I understand it is.
      What you describe with Bang still has the same basic problem in my opinion. The DOT just doesn´t do anything. It´s damage that has already been dealt. It doesn´t matter if the opponent will now go aggressive or defensive. You have already been hit and it doesn´t affect what happens next. In your example crouch blocking now costs HP but wouldn´t everything cost hp?
      I thought of one more thing a dev can achieve with pure DOTs and that is limit the spamability of a move. If a DOT merely refreshes on hit instead of stacking the return on consecutive hits is greatly reduced. So I guess they can overtune certain moves for that. I still think it´s bad design but it´s an option. Maybe that is what they did with Bangs move but as I said: not to familiar with BB

      I think her DoT damage is being a little undervalued. On its own its not doing a lot but in combos its tacking on a shit ton of unscaled damage. When you get to the point where hits are tacking on an extra 50 because we are sitting at 20% scaling, that shits still ticking away and often throughout a combo slapping on a beefy extra 300-400. Its great design to prevent it from being used in a defensive manner and still feel very rewarding

      @@JBasilix Well the damage of Bang's DoT isn't guaranteed because if you hit the opponent it gets rid of the DoT. This shifts the risk / reward kind of like having a large bet on the table in poker. Landing a hit will not only deal damage but save you from damage, but for Bang, he's incentivized to stay away and not get hit at all costs. But if you play too obviously, you set yourself up for failure. It's also worth mentioning that for Bang, his DoT is tied to a nail he can throw, and he has a limited supply of nails, and those nails are shared for other moves he has, including for movement. Because of this, it's unlikely he'll go for two poisons in one round. I guess that makes it more than just a normal DoT since there's a lot going on, but there's almost nothing normal about anything in Blazblue lmao

    "A.k.i. is a Momentum Trap-based Setplay Character."
    So SF6 just casually making new archetypes now? She doesn't zone you out to get the best damage, she doesn't get in your face unless its for the kill, she has no charge moves and has no true dp, and her kit is _incredibly weird_ to even call it proper setplay. Further more, she doesn't rely on "getting in/staying out" to force her opponent into disadvantage to get her damage, because she doesn't *need* to. Though not unlike a zoner, she relies on keeping her opponent where she wants them to be at all times until they fall into her trap, as its when that opportunity arises that she can "get in" for her damage. It's purely opportunistic, and requires controlling the opponent and the stage, not unlike a cunning predator.
    I think I'll call this archetype "Control"; she takes over the stage, and makes the opponent play her game.

    Her poison is actually most similar to what Gill had in SFV.
    As in if you hit an enemy whit specific specials or ex specials you can set them on fire or cover them in frost.
    And hitting them whit the opposing elements triggers an explosion similar to what Aki does when she triggers the poison.
    Although its much easier for Aki than Gill as she can apply poison wo having to spend bar and doesn't have to worry about opposing elements.

    The way ive had "success" with AKI is by applying poison and pushing the opponent into the corner and just applying more and more pressure until they crack kinda like a python

    they seemed to have taken Fang and SFV Gill and mashed them together.
    Those two in SFV were both an idea but combine them and made AKI.
    Who just feels more complete.

      These devs have hit nothing but home runs with this game, it's honestly one of the best gaming releases in recent history.
      Super balanced, polished as it gets, no real bugs or any note, and more modes and content than like 10 other fighting games combined.
      Whoever designed AKI deserves a raise and an award.

      And yeah, I agree. I've been with sf since the sf4 days and even somehow stuck through sfv and eventually ended up loving it during the Seth dlc era. Sf6 is a godlike game that is a great build off from every older installment. Agree 100 percent

    If they can make something like A.K.I. out of F.A.N.G., I'm really curious what they can make with Ed out of...Ed. My wish for him right now would be that after Balrog, he trained under Dudley and has learned his style, since there's no Dudley announced and he's still my favorite SF boxer. Or they use the experience they had with Steve in Street Fighter x Tekken, anything but his style or Balrogs charge moves...

    Manon is not like Abel at all. Abel was more a rushdown-rekka-grappler, while Manon is your classic grappler with some new things to make her not like Zangief. She's kinda like an evolution of Laura, and while Laura was, eh, kinda an evolution of Abel, still there aren't much similarities between Abel and Manon gameplays. The only things they share - they are french and uses judoka as their fighting style.
