    - Phoenix Wright was what got me into UMvC3, my first fighting game. I like the silly lawyer man
    - Bridget was announced and came out (in both senses) around the same time I found out about my own identity, leading me to pick her and GGST up as a whole
    - Elphelt because hehe funny rekka sequence

    since you asked:
    - Glacius was the first "main" I had in a fighting game I took REALLY seriously (KI2013 my beloved)
    - Ayane ended up being my forever girl in DOA, something about her stupid spinning won me over
    - Leona Heidern was the first character I ever labbed in KOF13 and I've been using her ever since, even in older titles. she made me love charge inputs tbh

Any Grappler characters, like Potemkin, Zangief, and King. Especially Strive Pot, since its the one that introduced me to fighting games. Just something about big menacing figures being able to deal tons of damage while having a goofy, yet likeable side of them is just endearing

Same on strive pot. Taught and is teaching me how to play well, especially things like karas and such. It caused me to get interested in fighting games as a whole, and I’m prepared to go to other games. He got me interacted in heavies, and I am very willing to play him, and learn some other characters that fit that description like funny cartoon character Faust and the genius that is
      bed
It’s crazy how he did this for me. I love him for that. Neato!

I tried to get into smash competitively, in which I mained (and still casually main) incineroar. Big cat go big grab
Funny thing is, this channel got me into GGST, where I thought I was going to main Sol. But I had just gotten done with a local theater performance where I had a British accent, and decided “eh let’s try Axl.”
Now Axl is my main, still pushing with him currently (for 3v3s I really want to do a core of Axl-chaos-elphelt/pot/ky)
Thank you so much for getting me into this wonderful game gekko! Happy birthday!

I have to divide the characters in two groups: the ones that made me love fighting games and the ones that made me come back to the genre after life got in the way of gaming. Kitana from MK, Athena from KoF and Lilith from Darkstalkers made me love the genre when I was a kid. I had no idea what I was doing, but I loved playing with them. The ones that brought me back to the genre were Tira from Soul Calibur and Testament from Strive. SC6 is the game that made me invest time in the fgc and play "seriously" for the first time in my life, and Testament is the one that made sure I will never stop playing again. These two are the reason I follow you and all the other FGC content creators, Testament in particular is probably one the best characters to exemplify how I like to play, together with Athena from KoF and Rose from Street Fighter.
But on a different note: Happy Birthday Gekko!

Happy birthday Gekko! The character that got me into Fighting Games in the first place is prooooobably Talim from Soul Calibur 2 on the PS2. She was the first character that ever really clicked with me in that kind of way, and now- nearly 2 decades later, I would say that Bridget from Strive is the character that made me fall back in love with the Fighting Game Genre as a whole by brining a story I can very heavily empathize with and relate to into this community Ive always kinda wanted to be part of~ ... Im still not very good at Fighting Games, but I actively want to get better now even if Im starting from rock Bottom lol

  • @Pesola
    @Pesola 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

Oh man, Gekko Alisa main? Same here, Alisa was only Tekken character I have actually tried to learn back in Tekken 6 times (and little during Tekken 7, not that I actually enjoyed playing that like I used to enjoy playing T6 on my PSP. That was a long ago at this point). I don't play much more fighting games tbh. There is no more text here. Nope. No sir-i!
SIKE! I AM A PROUD WARCRIMINAL AXL LOW MAIN IN STRIVE! The moment I saw him when I first entered the character screen in Strive got me hooked on the character, the game and fucking lore of the GG series. The man is just the greatest goober there is and ofc gotta give a shoutout to his English VA, Octopimp for his awesome performance (I have followed his youtubing career for years before I actually knew he was Axl's VA).

My first 2 fighting games were MK9 and Killer Instinct, and from the moment I laid my eyes on Cyrax and Riptor I have dedicated every second of my time in those games to getting better at these characters. Both of them introduced me to the rushdown play style and I have not stopped since. When I learned my first 50/50 with Riptor it was like something clicked in my head and I haven’t stopped pressing buttons while I’m minus, and I don’t plan to stop anytime soon.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY QUEEN :D
I have soooooo many FG loves but the ones that had the most impact are probablyyyy:
Simon Belmont (My gateway into the FGC)
Beowulf (His story mode is the best FG story I've ever played - I cry every time)
    Ryu (He's literally me)
Ed (He clicked harder than any other character and felt like an extension of myself)
Sol Badguy (I had to unlearn the ungamental style I built with him but man I have so many good Strive memories)
    Bedman? (He;s also literally me)
Also more than my character, shoutout to my sibling for playin FG's with me - them and ZBI are such a big inspiration for my FG passion frfr

"Favourite character in fighting games? The one that got into playing fighting games?"...
...The answer is honestly way simpler then I originally thought: Taokaka, from BlazBlue. To some degree - Faust (even though I got familiar with him in his Strive's incarnation: creepy, yeah - but still quirky and funny) and Baiken (because of "local woman too angry to die" vibes)

Happy birthday man hope you celebrated the best way possible ! Now as for characters that I love in fighting games where to begin, guess the fastest way is to rapid fire them like you did for each series:
    - Blazblue: Kagura (coolest stance and charge character I've ever played, loved his role in the story as the ultimate bro to Rags and his design is peak anime bs) also special mention to Nu and Lambda for breaking my heart in the story and Makoto for being the best girl and Relius for being best dad (derogatory)
    - Guillty Gear: Slayer (because yes), Testament (cuz i loved their developement) and Johnny (because he's cool af and satisfing especially in Xrd), Zato also broke my heart;
    - UNI: Gordeau (cuz Grim Reaper in neutral) and Carmine (cuz he's one of the most fun glass cannons ever made and he's dumb lorewise);
    - Granblue: Yuel (the love of my life and she made me discover wth Granblue even was) and Vaseraga (because he's the coolest fucking big body ever made);
    - SF: Nash (he's so chad they had to kill him twice) and JP (literally the best antagonist we had for SF)
    - Tekken: Claudio (cuz I am patriottic af boy) and Kazuya (I love him even if I suck with him)
    - Skullgirls team: Fortune (funny cat) and Parasoul (she is hot af boy)
    - DBFZ Team: 17 (MVP) SBroly (Best boy) and Trunks
    - P4AU: Liz (thanatos is my favourite persona) and Naoto (funny ik supers)
    - DNF: Ranger (cuz he's Dante but with only guns)
    - Mahvel : team trenchcoat cuz i love DMC and Wesker is one of my fav villains (also Jedah and Sigma even if MVCI died instantely).
And that's just scratching the surface, fgs are full of amazing characters.

    Yoooo happy birthday!
I also wanna say the character made me interested and eventually love fighting games is Zangief from SF2. Thanks to that one fighting game anime from Netflix (high score girl) I was very interested in the character where you need to do a (for me at the time) hard input to get big damage. And the low tier struggles was also something enduring lol.
I eventually tried SF2 zangief and was unable to do the 360 input, but then I tried SF4 and the generous buffer it has for inputs, and after that I started really enjoying fighting games.

    • @invertebrado
      @invertebrado 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Funny as it is, I eventually stopped playing Zangief and played more shotos (SF4 poison my beloved), but I still a grappler player at heart.
I play Pontenkin and Brisket in GG Strive and +R
Play Hugo and and Dudley in SF3
      May and Terry in KoF
Subzero in MK, Joker in injustice, Marth in smash bros (all except 64, where I main Ness) and... Yeah, that's about it
Even though I have some mains, I usually dont play them as much cuz I love just playing different characters. That's to say I am a random main

Happy birthday! As the one person in my friend group who is addicted to fighting games ima go down the list
(My friend is a baiken main)
Ggst - Faust, funny doctor man who lost his mind and is just barely holding himself together, randomness and weird hitboxes make him better and worse
Sf6 - Zangief, Big damage, Big gym bro, whats not to love? (Especially if I take 30 percent off with 1 command grab)
Ssbu - Kinda counts as a fighting game, but Terry and Little mac, for raw power alone, and also theyre just cool
Mk11 - Terminator, Arnold is cool, dont really know how to play him correctly
Sf4 - El Fuerte, just got it, for the funsies (and it was on sale for 83 percent off), and although hes a bad cook his moves are just awesome
For Honor - Centurion, not sure if this counts either, but funny man can punch people, although he does suck at times with mixups

Link being in SoulCalibur II back on the Gamecube was my first real exposure to a non smash fighting game. of course back then I didn't even know where to learn how to play fighting games and just pressed buttons in that game for hours on end. SoulCalibur III being Ps2 exclusive meant that I didn't even know it existed until SoulCalibur IV came along and had Yoda and Vader promotions everywhere. again I didn't have those consoles, and by the time SoulCalibur V came along I was still sinking every free second I had into Skyrim and that one flew under my radar. It wasn't until SoulCalibur VI that I really got into fighting games and started trying to learn them for real. and hot damn was that game ever a lot of fun. I definitely put the most Time into Talim, but also played a decent amount of Siegfried. it's a shame the netcode sucks because It's a really fun game that more people should try.

I find it funny you mention trunk's flip being addicting. I normally play smash and love platform fighters, so I love being able to move around in the air unhindered by a standard jump arc. So seeing trunk's flip, and I knew I already loved the heck out of the move.
That said, I didn't stick with Trunks because I figured he might be a bit too hard at first since I was trying to get DBFZ to make me fall in love with combos, so I can want to practice combos in Smash. So I played cooler (oh and I couldn't remove Hit and Beerus, I love them too much).
As for characters that inspired me to play fighting games (oh dear, I wrote much much more than I thought I would. Have fun with the wall of text!):
Vega in Street fighter 2 - He looked like a cool ninja guy with a sweet mask and claw, and he was able to climb on walls. Sadly when a friend gave me Street Fighter 4 and saw some clips of him, I realized he's pretty much a narcissistic creep, so kinda killed my love for the character since I actually learned who he is..... That said, his moveset is really addicting though.
Strider Hiryu & Jin in Marvel VS Capcom 1 - Ninja, also Jin has big robot. MechWarrior 2 left a very strong impression on me since it was the first 3D video game I ever saw as a kid, and had unique atmospheric music. So anytime I see a giant robot, I'm pretty much down for that. I practically don't remember anything about their movesets. Also I do remember having a hard time deciding on who I'd main, even though I didn't really need a main for what I was doing. I remember loving Wolverine because I loved edgy guys a lot at the time. War Machine I used a lot because spammable attack, and giant laser. Venom made me love the symbiote thing, and also being able to transform into various things, and just being a pile of goo moving around. Funny have years later, my view would change on his transforming goo thing because I played a game changed my view. Also I think Gambit was #3 most likely to be a main. He was just really cool
Fox McCloud in Smash - I couldn't put my thumb on it, but he seemed so cool in 64 & Melee. Though at the time I didn't have the reaction time to play Fox, so I went to other character. However, I wouldn't have gotten into platform fighters if Fox (along with Link & Samus) got me interested initially. Marth became my main in Smash because his moveset had this nice flow with it (also a sucker for capes & sword).
I love playing literally every character in Smash, so they all kinda force me to stay within that series. Meta Knight I wanted back in Melee, and I found it hilarious he was the best fighter in Brawl. He was always the hardest boss fight in every kirby game I played so I was just like "ah, his reputation continues". I basically view him like a mascot for my childhood nowadays. He's always fun to play though, he's so fast, and is very intimidating with his burst options, and potential to just delete your stock. Lucario is another character that keeps me rooted in Smash. He feels more focused on keeping the right flow to your movements, and to always stay calm no matter how much pressure you're under. I've always performed better when under pressure, so a comeback character is great for me, since most characters in games I'll just kinda be lazy the first half, then try. Lucario has me try the entire time. Lucario & Meta Knight were my duo mains in brawl and Smash 4 and they are still fun to play in Ultimate. However in Ultimate I'm maining Sephiroth (wanted in since Melee, even though I "knew" it couldn't happen since there weren't even any 3rd parties back then). Ridley is extremely addicting, just absolutely abysmal disadvantage, but I get to see my friends do cool combos, and then I can destroy them in a few well placed scary moves. Chess is my other go-to competitive game, so it's addicting to play Snake because he really does feel like he is "chess in Smash" because of his grenades.
"Ryu & Kazuya being in Smash made me try Street Fighter again, and Kazuya in Tekken 7. Fun games, but my gosh it's hard swapping between the smooth smash and jitteryness of traditional fighters (I'm saying this in a positive way. I actually like the jitteryness). This made me want to get into traditional fighters in general, so I got Dragonball FighterZ
Beerus/Hit/Cooler from DBFZ - I love Beerus's personality so much, and he has an interesting moveset. Hit just schmooves so much with his teleports and I love him. Cooler doesn't make me want to come back like the other two, but he's a very satisfying whenever I do play. Gotta love the big boys.
Bedman? from Guilty Gear Strive - Originally it was going to be Jack-O because I like her mask, and I started getting into flexibility because of the Jack-O pose, so figured may as well main her. Especially since I love the 2 personality thing, and I love halloween. Her moveset is just so hard to get used to, and the ways I beat opponents..... don't really feel like the way Jack-O is supposed to beat opponents (but I'm compared myself to top players so that might be why). Bedman's gameplay feels a lot more natural and easy to pick up. Also I'm a sucker for big robots/monsters, alongside being a sucker for big guardians (brownie points if they are trying to restrain themselves from doing a bad thing). Bedman just ticks so many boxes. Then his gameplay just feels really great.
Elliana from Rivals of Aether - Again I love mechs. I love how fast they are in the air despite being the heaviest character, love the combos they can do, along with their projectiles, the satisfying powerful hits when you're overheated. They just hit the spot in so many ways. Unfortunately I hear they are the hardest character to play, but gosh darn I don't care. I do think they are the fighting game character I love to play the most out of any fighter in any game. I really want to play more Rivals, but at this point I'll be playing Rivals of Aether 2 before I get a chance to play the original more. Hopefully Elliana returns (but Clairen and Sylvanos are amazing even if Elliana doesn't return)
Munin (and hugin) from Brawlhalla - A lot of characters feel the same, since there's a lot of copy pasta in the movesets. That said, love the looks of Munin, and I love how they move into the air with like half of their sigs. Also they are one of the fastest legends in the game, and I love that game because it feels like how fast competitive smash matches feel, except you don't really have to learn anything to get to that, so it's easy to play it for fun casually with friends. Also I've always been a sucker for scythes in games, and Brawlhalla has one of the more fun movesets I've seen with scythes in a while (also makes the game a bit harder since most weapons are basically point and hit). Bow is also one of my favorites to use in the game. So yeah, basically Munin is a combination of everything I love to do in Brawlhalla. Sadly, I don't have any excuses to go play it again. Trying to keep up with other games.

I will never forget what got me into fighting games. I had been playing them casually for years but one year my uncle came over for a while and he had Under Night on his PS3. We were on the couch and I was playing my younger brother and I tried out Yuzuriha. I don't know what happened but I felt something click during that match and I just had an awakening to fighting games. I eventually bought the game and found I didn't actually vibe with her on a higher level and switched over to my main of Chaos.
The deeper I got into Fighting Games the more characters I found that I really loved. Juri from SF, Ramlethal in Revalator, F-Warc and C-Satsuki in Melty Blood, Tsubaki in CPEX and Susanoo in CF, just to name a few.

I had the same exact experience with Valentine and essentially the same combo too. I really enjoyed messing around in third strike as a kid but i was never actually good at it until way later. Valentine is the character the character that made me really see and love fighting games. Ram and Raven in Xrd were also big for me. Now I'm playing Test and I-no in Strive and it's some of the most fun I've had in a fighting game

    My list is short.
Eddy from Tekken. I started training capoeira because of him and there's a whole lot of capoeiristas who have the same story. Truly iconic! I have irl relationships and memories that I never would've got to experience if not for him.
His mind games, fluidity and high risk/high reward style are a pitch perfect translation of the artform.
I also love MK11 Spawn. Big button footsies are my thing. Plus he's cool af.
    Happy belated birthday!

+R Bridget was my first ever main in the first real fighting game I actually played for real and tried to somewhat learn. I immediately fell in love with the movement options, the Roger shenanigans, the pokes and the setups for the yo-yo. Also being the funni yo-yo (at the time) femboi uwu nun who runs the opponent over on round start and has one of the most cursed splash arts in the game was a great selling point.
The other one would be Lambda-11 from BBCF. I cannot possibly describe with words how much bliss I get from filling the screen with swords and doing a funny little combo on my opponent while chilling on the other side of the screen that I confirmed into by reading their jump-in. Also she is hella cute I don't care if Nu technically has better zoning Lambda is the GOAT!

To quote something you once said of your video's that I personally standby of why I enjoy fighting games more or less is: "Fighting Characters that we play are an expression of ourselves". I played and dabbled in a lot of fighting games as a lot of the time If there's a character I like or vibe I try it just to play the characters or even for other reason such maybe a recognizable I.P like Power Rangers BFTG or even Pokken.. Even if it's game I wouldn't normally see myself playing than my main games that I enjoy as I try the game for the character. To name a few of my mains that I mostly play and that help me explore around the different fighting game series and such.
-Leo Whitefang (GGS): Other than sharing his name with my nick name my friends call me. I just knew I had to play him as I love his lion motif and even if he is a little goofy, he still gives of that strong pride of a lion like I mentioned that I like to feel personally. And when I play him, I don't fret to much of charge characters to much anymore.
-Katalina (GBFVR): Honestly, she's my main right now but that could be up in debate with Charlotta though see does feel completely like Leo even though she kind vibes almost in the same way as Leo to me, but I consider her my second main in GB. But Katalina, I just love her man, I have my fair share of "Waifus", but Katalina is just up there for me personally. The regal but kind knight protector like she is my definition of "My knight of shining armor."
-Es (BlazBlue CF/BBTAG): Aside from her cute anime girl and favorite I personally like her playstyle but also her move set are named after Arthurian Character and such which is just small detail which I like about her being an Arthurian mythos fan and she pretty fun to play in both games.
-Terry (KOF): I don't even have to explain to much but...come on its Terry. On of the most recognizable SNK characters and he's just gosh darn cool and iconic. I like my fair share of other SNK characters that I like too that I would, and some would also consider my mains too like King, Betty even Maxima in KOF. But you just feel cool, and I have fun when doing his special moves or at least I do and sometime say them in my head when I do them. When he got into Smash Bros Ultimate that's how I got into KOF because of it lol.

Happy B-day. I loved this video.. Just gushing over yer favorite fighting game characters is THE SHIT Here are mine (not in chronological order just in what order i remember them):
    - Bloody Roar 2/3 Long/Stun/Marvel... all of em really favorite game ever.
    - Soul calibur 6. 2B but the game really wasn't for me (i play her for the exact same reason you do. She is best girl of best game fight me)
    - Injustice 2 Gorilla Grod. He is a gorilla with mind powers why would i NOT be playing him?
    - Killer instinct Aria (this was almost a decade ago. Want to retry it again and just play Riptor)
    - Mortal Kombat 11 Shao Kahn first but then quickly moved on to Frost. Very cool character but she is gone now and so is that game. Also first fighting game i actually tried to get good at (r y'know dip my toes in).
    - Blazblue continuum shift (yes way before centralfiction) I played the squirrel girl because she was all about punching the shit out of people.
    - Tekken 7 a little bit of Lydia. Some Kazumi and then Armor King my beloved.
    - Tekken 8 been playing for a week non-stop now. Picked Reina because i regretted never giving Heihachi a chance cuzz he was to scary. Am now rank 14 Eliminator (orange) (but i can't help but glance over to Jun every now and then)
    - Guilty Gear Xrd Kum. I need Kum to come back into Strive!
    - Guilty Gear Strive Bedman? Your Strive journey inspired me to give the game another go after Zato and Pot and now i have found my main that i love very much thank you... I just can't seem to get into celestial rank BUT i considered myself the top player in europe for a short bit since i was LITERALLY the only person in europe's 10th floor XD
    - DBFZ 16/21/Vegito for the 1st 100 hours until i got to demon rank and i quit.i got REALLY into fighting games thanks to this one and a group of friends that coached me. I started out together with this guy and i am still very proud of him for making it into a big tournament. He inspired me to give it another shot a couple months ago and i changed my team into who i actually wanted to play (aside from Roshi.. To much for me) Kefla/16/Baby and i managed to push my rank to SSJ3. I hated this game as much as i loved it.
    - Street Fighter 6. Cammy my beloved! Tried to get to diamond rank with her but then i broke my wrist in september and i never came back.
    - Skullgirls my memory is a bit foggy but i definetly played Robo Fortune for a bit. beep-beep-blarb
    - Granblue versus new release thingy demo version. I play Soriz every chance i get. He is hella fun. Might consider buying the game when 2B actually releases because... well 2B

My first FG was SFV and I had an eternal character crisis that led to me bouncing off from the game. During my process of trying to learn I really liked Ryu and Necalli.
Later down the line I tried learning Melty Blood Actress Again and found one of my favorite characters I've ever played, Aoko. I love that she is *almost* your typical shoto with the very important distinction of having BALLS instead of fire balls. I loved the oki from getting a knockdown and doing instant air ball on them into a mixup.
During Strive I picked up Leo and Ky. Leo is actually the character I earned my first tournament win with (which is to say I went 1-2 and not that I won the tournament) and will always have a special place in my heart for that.
And finally my current favorite character of all time is Jamie. I love his style, I love his level up mechanic, and I love that he drinks tea. He's the first character I was able to push into the realm of "feeling like I know what I'm doing" with. That said he also taught me that my preferred playstyle is defensive counter-poking, which is not his forte so I'm learning Chun li now. But I can always fall back on Jamie.

Melee/Smash in general: Sheik, if it wasn’t obvious from my pfp. I fell in love with this character at my daycare when I was like 6, and stuck with her until I started playing competitively in high school. I play her in every smash game and have no intention of ever dropping her. She’s my baby.
Cammy: I picked Cammy up cause I thought she was cute when I was like 11. Have not looked back. Luckily for me she’s incredibly popular so I never have to worry about her being cut from a Street Fighter game, is always pretty damn strong, and so I’ve never seen a reason to play somebody else.
Mortal Kombat: I really like the palette swap ninjas, just as a concept. In particular, I tend to gravitate towards Ermac and Reptile whenever they’re available, and usually also like Rain and Tremor though they show up less frequently. All of their powersets are really cool to me and they all tend to have a focus on cool extended combos.
Gear: In most games, it’s Venom. A buddy of mine brought Xrd to a party in high school and had us try out the cast, and I gravitated towards Venom because I immediately saw how cool and versatile his ball set patterns were. Unfortunately, he’s not in Strive, so I went with a new character and tried out Gio for a while, until Jack-O was released and I saw shades of Venom in her. She’s now my current main.
Tekken: I was on vacation and the place I was at had an arcade with a really broken Tekken machine. Buttons just kind of did what they wanted and the lever was sticky, so you basically just got a random character on character select. It happened to select Julia for me, and the computer kicked my ass. Several years later, upon picking up Tekken for real, I decided to give her a proper shot, fell in love with the execution requirements for some of her combo routes. Missing her in 8, but I’ve also dabbled a bit in Asuka over the years, and Jun seems to have the parts of Asuka I really liked, while replacing the parts I wasn’t a fan of with stuff I prefer, so we’re trying her for now (or until they add Julia back in a couple years).
KoF: I had a bunch of ports of KoF games on my iPad back in Junior High. 98 and XIII in particular. During my time with those games, I had quite a few mains. I love Blue Mary, her design is super cool and I play her whenever I can, and I’ve also really taken a liking to King, Ash, and Kyo, just because I like how their combo routes flow (sans-culotte is a bit above my pay grade though).
Skullgirls: Same friend who had me try out Gear for the first time also got me into Skullgirls when it came out and we were in Junior High. Initially, I thought Painwheel was cool, but the more I played the more I gravitated towards Parasoul for her cool links off of her charge projectiles, and Cerebella because of her easy routes and damage output. Still haven’t decided on an anchor but I like Beowulf.
Soul Calibur: I had a friend in middle school who loved the game and mained Nightmare, so I picked up Siegfried on a whim to kind of be his opposite. Ended up loving his stance-heavy, seamless sort of playstyle as well as his focus on long range and his fat damage output. I also play a lot of Sophitia, but she’s a little fast for the speed I like to play SC at.
Blazblue: Noel’s a cutie and Nu has some really wacky stuff going on with her projectiles
UNI: Linne, not a lot to say about her, I just like the way she feels to play the most.

Happy turn around the sun, Gekko.
My first fighter ever was Blanka in SF2, in a very small Arcade far from my home. I think I was 11, and I didn't have any money, so I rarely played, but I really loved the electric green simian.
Then it was Basara in Samsho for a time (there was an arcade in the walk from school to my house).
Then I played Tekken for the first time, and that was it: I tried King, then Alex, and finally discovered my true main, Lei Wulong, who became my pal for decades, until I left T7 tired of the bad connections.
In the meantime, I played and loved many, many weirdos and a few waifus: Voldo, Ivy, Peacock, Arakune, Taokaka, Zappa, Baiken, Kabal, Devorah, Chin, Vanessa, Gen, Chizumaru, Asuka Kazama, Xiaoyu, Mika, Merkava, and so many more.
Now, after the miracle year that was 2023 for the FGC, I'm finally playing more seriously, and have been truly advancing with my current roster of beloved freaks:
    - Blanka again, in SF6, still amazed how incredibly fun he is.
    - Cagliostro in Granblue Rising, truly a love at first sight, she is so annoying and sardonic.
    - Mika in UNI2, absolute wacko of a character, still learning while connectivity gets properly fixed.
    - Always unpredictable Xiaoyu, trying to get her as high as posible before Lei comes back to T8.

I have three chcaracters that speak more to me with a few honorable mentions:
    - Neo and Adachi in BBTAG. BBTAG was my first fighting game and these two were the characters who I settled on as being my mains for the game. Adachi was a half-meme pick and half-Magatsu Izanagi is really fucking cool and I just really liked Neo’s design. I also think her being 4’11” in heels is really funny.
    - My third is a character I could probably write a video essay on about why I love him, but it’s Asuka. I had played Strive since release as a Ram player, but she didn’t keep me into the game when the second season pass came out. That all changed when Asuka dropped and specifically, when I heard his theme, “The Gravity”. I am a huge prog head, built an obsession with space because of Gundam, and loves wizardly shit because of my time playing D&D. Asuka being the strongest magic user below Chaos, having that cool-ass space cape, and fucking Jordans for some reason were just too good for me to not buy just him and immediately pick him up as my main. He’s also why I started to actually learn the Guilty Gear lore and I also grew to absolutely love his character as well. Asuka really just felt like a character that was made for me and is one of two characters that has achieved that status.

Juri in street fighter 4 was the first character I felt like I could call my main and while I didn’t love what she had going on in 5 she solidified herself as my favorite again in 6.
Special mention also to Seth in SF5 who reminded me I actually like training in fighting games,
Shermie in KOF15 who got me to actually learn how that game works,
And Byakuya in under night who made me fall in love with the very specific “rushdown trap setter” archetype.

Sakura and Poison in SFV were the first characters I dedicated time to so they hold a special place in my heart.
Ryu however has been my main ever since I took the time to go back and play Super Turbo, Alpha 2, and Third Strike. He’s my favorite fighting game character and if it weren’t for me discovering him I probably would’ve never learned fighting games at more than a surface level.
I also went back to play KOF98/02 and Garou always running teams with Terry on them and Yuri (except for Garou). To me they are the Ryu and Sakura of KOF so they really speak to me.
For Tekken, I am new and still learning but I am really looking to find that special character for me!

Then Joker in Smash Ult was the character that really made me want to practice fighting games and go to locals and kickstarted me into playing other games. Love him to death.

I don't play fighting games that much & I'm pretty much a casual with them but if there's a few I could point out:
SCV Nightmare: My very first "Main", originally started out with Seigfried coming from Lost Swords but wasn't the most fun and felt stiff with his stances & never understood them well. Picked up Nightmare and immediately fell in love with how aggressive and "free" he was compared to Seig and I also loved how overly edgy and dark he was.
BBCPEX Terumi: Browsed through all the characters on dustloop prior to picking up the game and saw his portrait and said "Yep. Him, I'm gonna stick with him." and pretty much did so. He's genuinely just very cool and I love how evil and edgy he was & him being so easy to pick up and learn was also a bonus that kinda made me stick to him. Still played him once I finally got BBCF but I branched out to Jubei too.
GGXrd Sign Ramlethal: She's more of an emotional pick compared to most of my Mains. I originally didn't have much interest in her until I played through Sign's story mode and I kinda just got drawn in by the way she thinks and acts and I kinda see parts of myself in her a bit and all these things together just made me pick her up and try her out. And well I was kinda sold.

I only REALLY got into fighting games around 3 years ago but played Smash Bros since I was a kid with Sonic and played a bit of Street Fighter 4 with Ryu. BBTAG was my awakening into the genre and Neo from RWBY was the character that got me into it alongside playing her with Hyde from under night
Since then I've played UNIST with Eltnum, Blazblue Central Fiction with Mu 12, Melty Blood Type Lumina with Miyako Arima, Ferry in GrandBlue Fantasy Versus, Skullgirls 2nd Encore Filia and Fucua and Garou Mark of the Wolves with Rock Howard. I want to eventually pick up Tekken 8 since I never played much Tekken besides a bit of Tekken Dark Resurrection when I had it on my brother's PSP and Street Fighter 6 too. Fighting games are amazing and the community that I got to know through them is even better both in traditional 2d fighters and the Smash scene

Yosuke and Ruby from BBTag was probably first ever mains and I still love playing them to this day. They sorta taught me to love rush-down characters and characters that have a more mosquito approach to combat. That I mean being a little goblin and moving around.
Leo Whitefang from Strive is my favorite character in that game because of his goddamn POWER. He’s so cool, so awesome. A even greater but I had no idea he was a top pick XD
Kokonoe from BBCF is my new main in that game and although I am new to that game, I love her style of gameplay.
    And das it :>
Gonna try and get more fighting games soon so I can test em out but I hope to find more character that I’ll enjoy

Picked uo asuka as I like zoners, especially ones where I can switch up to attack when I get an opening. I love when there's huge toolkits that offer a lot of options and variety. I mainly like projectiles as I find they feel good and are great to land (especially in fps games where they can be tough to hit) I also love the character, lore, and wizards in general. I'm also a yugioh player.
Asuka is everything I could want out of a character both gameplay and character wise and he is now my favourite character of all in every aspect (especially gameplay). if it weren't for him I'd probably be running nu-13 in bbcf as my main character.
edit: good screen control and making a bullet hell are super satisfying to pull off to it's why testament is my side character in ggst

The one that stands out the most to me is Karina Toyota from the Asuka 120% series. She's the only puppet character I've EVER managed to get into! And her puppet is a wee lil' frog that she calls "Kero-pyon", and she baby-talks to it in a sweet tone of voice, while being stern and standoffish towards everyone else lol
And then during battles, she can make the frog stay wherever she is, or come back to her, launch the frog on-fire towards the opponent both on a straight-line or in a short-ranged upward arch, set it on fire pre-emptively to buff the frog's attacks, and summon an army of Kero-pyon as one of her supers! It's amazing, I love her~
Besides Karina, some of my other faves are:
    - Megumi Suzuki, my other main from Asuka 120%, who's just really cute and easy to play as.
    - Death Scythe from Gundam Wing Endless Duel, which is quite possibly the BEST fighting game of the 4th console generation and holds up Incredibly Well!
    - Sakura from Street Fighter, two words: Girl Ryu.
    - Platinum the Trinity from BlazBlue, cute and sassy magical girl who's easy to play as.
    - Millia Rage from Guilty Gear, a comfort character who's always there that I can count on.
    - Jam from Guilty Gear, she's So Cute! I wish I knew how to play her better...

-Jin Kisaragi, love at first sight in BBCS. Ice powers and a katana. Cold character with a dark sadistic side, cool AF.
-Hakumen, big katana and I love counters. His Astral is my favorite super ever.
-Juri Han, I have a thing for sadist characters, also I practiced Tae Kwon Do back in the day.

If we're talking all fighting games, I've been playing smash since I was young and the first character I ever played in Melee, was Link. I don't know if it was the Zelda fan in me that possessed me to play him but I will always credit him for getting me into smash. Later I got into Marth, then when Brawl came around, I played Ike but not much to say there. Then Smash 4 came out and I was all over the place. I didn't really play anyone for to long before going to the next character. Then Ultimate came out and I played so much Isabelle, then as DLCs came I jumped onto the Joker, Hero, and Terry bandwagon.
The next game I got into was Rivals of Aether. Playing Ranno, and Clairen when they were some of the only DLC characters was some of the most fun I've had with fighting games ever. Going so far off-stage with Ranno to the point of sacrificing a stock for no reason, or just playing a fast character with some fun pressure was so enjoyable. Then I got Ori. Then Workshop dropped and I got into Olympia and I haven't looked back since.
While playing Rivals I got into Soul Calibur 6. I could not tell you why but I fell in love with Ghor's fighting style. I didn't even play the character. I just took an avatar into the story mode, gave them funny double sword and went through it all in like 12 hours. It was fun.
Strive was the first Traditional Fighting game I got into, The first character that caught my eyes while getting into it was also Gio. For a lot of the same reasons. But also, hot woman must be good right? And she's done a lot for me. Even now she's my backup for my actual main who has become Ramlethal. Being able to just zone your opponent because they looked at you funny then transition to a rushdown and stop them from playing the game unless they wanna use their burst is some of the most fun I've had in fighting games since Hero's release in Ultimate. (I am speaking from the position of a tower 5/6 player so don't take my description of Ram gameplay too seriously)

(Fireballs, decent dps and a jack of everything master of none) ken, chun- li, Ky kiske, but KING from Tekken made me love grapplers, the umph the pile drives, the tombstones, the punches and the enziguris. He is a love letter the wrestling and a charecter that blends the line of reality. Show the pain that can be inflicted when these moves are preformed with no stelrings attacked. First fighting game experience was Tekken 3 when I was 9 years old in '99 x) at the time it was just button mashing but T5 is where I delved deeper into it with King, who is a character inspired by an old '70s anime Tigerman, and continued to be my main since. Then Armor King showed up, and so I played both characters through T6 and 7. I'm hoping AK returns in Tekken 8 as a future DLC, but keeping my expectations low.
And then there's Soriz from GFV:R that struck me with most interest, being a fist fighter with hard, hitting moves, and a charming personality, thanks to you and your friends hype for the game's release xD Which was also a whole new, fresh experience trying a 2D fighting game after years of solely playing Tekken. I might buy the whole game to dabble some more with him, but for the time being, I'm burning through Tekken 8 to learn it's new mechanics and combos.

I only play fighting games offline when I have friends/siblings over but I love them so much.
My first main was probably Hawkeye in MvCI (my first fighting game) because being he could flip around and shoot ice arrows and annoy everyone.
I love Eric Myers in Power Rangers Battle for the Grid (due to being voiced by the same VA as Vergil from DMC) and Ninja Adam because of the Adam Gang campaign that got started up by a now friend.
These days I've started getting into KOF XV and when I first had someone over to play I used Clark a lot, and managed to do a lot of his grapples semi-consistently and I think he's just a fun guy that I enjoy!
Also oh my god I love BBTAG even though I know next to nothing about almost every source (aside from RWBY) and it's always a big hit with the friends I have over, but I never really settled on a main in that one, I just hit random and try to make whatever combination work (to varying degrees of success)

Anji Mito - This guy is Guilty Gear for me. I dabble on other characters but they only end up reminding me of how much I'd rather play him instead. Nobody else has that combination of elegance, power and stupidity. Blocking is for cowards, watch me SPIN.
King (KoF) - She's so fucking Gender. The only zoner I have ever found fun. Technically my first main ever since I started with that series. Y'all should play KoF.
Anila - I'm new to Granblue and I don't care about anything but the big tiddy sheep girl with long range and a KoF moveset. Is she the easiest character in the game? Yes. Is her damage output ass? Yes. I still love her.
Olympia - RIVALS OF AETHER IS THE BEST PLATFORM FIGHTER! My absolute favorite character. Anji comes close but no, it's her. Angry rat lady PUNCH

I like the Bridge, because Strive is like the only fighting game I've ever seriously played and Bridge is the only character I play. I am still a fighting game infant, tho

Well hey, being new still never hurts anyone! I remember when I first got into fighters that I only really had a few characters I was successful with, but over time I learned to love so many more as I learned about them! So never be afraid to branch out in either character or games! So many people will be happy to help you with stuff like that

I'm sort of new but I've always played the beasties. Was a big Ferra-Tor main in MKX but I didn't take fighting games seriously until SF6 when I played Blanka and neurons fired in my brain like crazy. I love his command hop, his ball attacks, his install (I LOVE it), and now I'm addicted to charge inputs. Tried Strive and obviously I played May because charge is in my system. But in Undernight In-Birth 2 I am now a Merkava main because he's a monster rushdown-zoner hybrid. If they're beastly/charge then I definitely have to try them out.

Happy Birthday. I've been trying to do a video like this but I keep on changing my favourites each time other than the top few.
    Those are:
    Sol Badguy (Guilty Gear)
    Cassandra Alexandra (Soul Calibur)
    Ein (Dead or Alive)
    Mai Natsume (BlazBlue)
I hope you have a great day.

When you got to skull girls, all i can think of is how Squiggly was the character to get me really into 2d fighters. I had some experience with guilty gear and blazblue, but i never had internet on my consoles back then. When i got a pc, fighters were far off my radar.
Then I saw Squiggly, and the rest is history.

    1, Happy birthday!!
2, going insane over the constant overlaps with myself here, I picked up strive in season 2 and picked baiken as soon as I saw her colour 8 bevause elegant pink lady she just like me fr fr, then fell in love with how she works in strive (xrd baiken would be really cool of not for me hating the azami input, thank god samsho fixed it I should play her more there), but started dooming over baiken in early season 3 and picked up a pocket gio as a break until I got my energy and love for Baiken back, gio's really fun too. Then in tekken I initially picked alisa purely because I saw her and went "no way pink hair and pronouns" not knowing she was a silly robot girl and I loved her. (Add-on shoutouts that break this trend to jamie street fighter he's so cool wish I could play him ok, and grimnir gbvsr, my chuunibyo psychosis femboy airdashing nonstop)

I’ve been casually playing every Tekken that’s released since I was about 5 years old, but it wasn’t until last summer that I really got into fighting games. I had known about Testament (we shared the same birthday :p) for about 4 years, but last summer I was in the airbnb at DreamCon with my friends who LOVE fighting games and I got to see them play so many different titles. That was the week I fell in love with GGST :))
    That being said:
Tekken: Hwoarang is in my blood for any Tekken title, and so is Eddy
GGST: Testament is my heart and soul, however, I do enjoy playing Ky 🫢
SF6: Manon’s increasingly ridiculous command grabs scratch my brain just perfectly. Also I love fashion haha

In chronological order of when I first played it:
    - (Honorable mention) Tekken 4. Jin: he was my first ever fighting game character I played as a kid and I thought he had a really fuckin cool character and design. Bro convinced me and my dad to take karate lessons just because I thought his style was sick.
    - Honorable mention) Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2. Rock Lee: Didn't know anything about the series. I just thought that in this game with these magic children, punchy, kicky kid looked neat.
    - (Honorable mention) Street Fighter 4. Evil Ryu: I liked the edgy crap, liked going unga bunga, and thought it was really funny whenever I just spammed shoryuken and won.
    - (Honorable mention) Dragonball FighterZ. Adult Gohan: Literally only because I thought a TH-cam video of his fight against Buu was cool.
    - Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. (320 hours). Little Mac: Punch-Out!! Wii is one of my favourite games to the point I can 100% it blindfolded. I discovered I like fast, easy to learn, in your face, explosive characters. It's the first character I've ever gotten *good* at.
    - Guilty Gear Strive. (305 hours). Giovanna: my first *real* fighting game. The first I ever took seriously and got me into the fgc due to now having friends to play them with. I've had an extremely similar journey with her. Probably my favourite fighting game character ever and cementing my taste in characters, but ArcSys kinda ruining how she felt to play made me try out other characters like Ramlethal, Leo, Baiken, and Bridget. No other character could quite scratch that itch though.
    - (Honorable mention) Skull Girls. Fillia: Not much time played but enjoyed what I put in.
    - (Honorable mention) Blazblue Centralfiction. Makoto Nanaya. Man when I actually learn how to play this game she will guaranteed be one of the most fun characters I'll ever play.
    - Street Fighter 6. (91 hours). Ken: Taught me to enjoy neutral. Convinced me that Street Fighter might not actually be a boring series.
    - (Honorable mention) Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising. (109 hours). Cagliostro: Picked her as a complete antithesis to who I usually play and found I enjoyed her a great deal. It's hilarious watching people try to figure out how traps work. Her combos and teleport also feel really cool to do. First character I actually did really good in tournament with.
    - Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising. (109 hours). Yuel: After switching from Cag, she's so insanely fun. Her pressure that dares you to mash is incredibly engaging. She's also just adorable as hell.

Got into fighting games just before this year with strive. I knew I was a pot player when I was playing against a May in a very laggy match that slowed things down enough for me to HPB her and I've now gotten to floor 9 with Pot.

My FG journey started in DBFZ, I mained Blue Vegeta, Jiren, and Baseku, I also played Gogeta Blue back in the day and he's what got me to love combos but i dropped him, I went on to play +R and fell in love with Anji but slowly moved away from him as now I play Pot/Axl, then Strive came around and made me adore Leo/Sin, I also play Leo, Sol, and Sin in Rev 2 but I dont really play that game much, to list off other mains rapid fire there's Paul in Tekken, Baraka in MK, Enkidu and later Tsurugi in UNI, both Sho's/Kanji in P4AU, Ladiva/Siegfried in GBVS, and Zangief/Ken from SF

First main was technically Pokémon Trainer in brawl, also played a lot of Dark Pit in 4 and Lucina, Marth and Sephiroth in ultimate. In terms of more traditional fighters, I played Chipp in strive before switching to Sin when he released, love playing him, even more so with the new buffs, in bbcf I play Jubei for the amazing mix ups and Raven in xrd for pretty similar reasons, I like characters with a lot of mix, didn't play as much type lumina as I wanted to but for the little time I played I enjoyed Edmond Dantes and Sabre, both very fun characters, just wish I played more.

I love when chars have many options on close or mid distances, and have answers when opponent rush on your face. And i love Lilica, because she everywhere on the screen and do flashy things.

I like to jump around the rosters a lot, but there's a few here and there that are longitme favorites and I'll always start with.
Street Fighter: Chun-Li - My first ever fighting game character, back in the days of OG Street Fighter II when I was about 8 or 9 years old.
Soul Edge/Calibur: Sophitia - Again, back in the days of the original Soul Edge, the damsel of the Sword & Board caught my attention quickly. I still have a memory of my mom taking me to the movies and playing Soul Edge in the arcade next to it in the mall.
Mortal Kombat: Sindel, ever since MK 3. Super screams, flying, and hair attacks. She became a favorite. In the 3D era I grew to like Ashrah and was thrilled she was playable in MK1.
For series I started more recently:
Guilty Gear: I-No. I started w/ Chipp b/c I like the speedy characters, and tried Axl some, but found I-No to be the one I gelled with fastest and w/ the most success.
Tekken: Ling Xiaoyu was the character I used most when I played an arcade Tekken. I think I even got her ending once. In 8 I've been playing ranked w/ Alisa. I wouldn't say I've been successful, but I feel good w/ how I've done.

Every single character in Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection, I played a shit tonne of Tekken 5 on PS2 and then even more on PSP, but I was still super casual button mashing back then as a young lad, but playing that game so much gave me a deep love of every single character on that roster
