When she's in her personal quarters, Jia Gui Fei always wore the korean bun hairstyle that only married women are allowed to wear in the Joseon era. However, when she died she was wearing the unmarried (braided) hairstyle. In a way, it symbolizes that she's finally free from her binding love for the Yu clan leader that ultimately caused her downfall.
What's sad is that these kids were brought into the world not because the mother loved them but to be used as away to get power and a rise in status in the harem
That why consort rong (xianjiang) didn’t mind and wanted to take the potion to render her barren because she didn’t want a child with someone she doesn’t love and to be used as a pawn for power
We cant blame her for doing the things she had to do. Yeah it was wrong, and awful. In the end, though, the harem is a game of survival. They need to act behind the scenes for the sake of their survival and their family’s
Nah, she can be blamed one hundred percent. She did it for the prince that she was obsessed about, not her children nor her clan, and she did plenty of terrible things out of pure enjoyment, and not necessarily for her benefit.

I thought the Imperial Noble Consort rank was given after her death. As of now in the show, she's but a commoner. All her titles and ranks were stripped.
@@blenderpain8249 I think they're referring to the title used in the description. Imperial Concubine, which is not the same as Imperial Noble Consort. Although she was stripped of her titles, in the end she was granted the status of Imperial Noble Consort which few consorts have held while alive. The reason was that Imperial Noble Consort was only second to the Empress in rank. Generally, consorts that had this title were in fact the master of the harem which would mean the Empress Consort could no longer perform her duties. For example, in Story of Yanxi Palace, Wei Yingluo became Imperial Noble Consort while the Empress was alive because the Empress had lost favor completely and was essentially Empress in name only.
Even if she did a lot of awful and evil, unforgivable things, I felt sorry for her in the end when she cried and I empathized with her sufferings and regret
Jia said that she would not do all these things when she knew she would get nothing shows again that she did all of these for her love... I believe that Jia would not be like that if she wanted to make her love happy : / she would be good : (
Jia Guifei in this series indeed had a strong impact and very good acting, unfortunately I didn't like her background that this story built for her. She said that she dedicated her life for his first love, the 'young master' who would became a King of Joseon. King of Joseon who? The King of Joseon in the same Timeline with Qianlong Emperor was King Yeongjo and he was already a King since year 1724 until 1776. So this was a fiction if by the time around 1955 Jia Guifei still called him 'Wang Ye' or 'Prince'. Not that I didn't like a touch of fiction, but for a history-freak like me, and considered what would they thought if this drama being watched by Koreans and they did their research a bit.. I felt kinda her background story could be better if the writers research more..
Hi, this King is not referring to the King of Joseon of that era. Korea (Joseon) was a independent nation that had diplomatic ties with the Qing dynasty However some of the Koreans decided to turn in their support and rely on the Qing dynasty. Hence the Emperor bestowed them Manchurian surnames and enacted them into Manchu Eight Great Banners. They’re considered to be citizens and serve the Qing dynasty. Yes, Jia Guifei still practices the musical instruments, attire and even consumes the dishes from Joseon, but she had also declared her clan’s allegiance to the Qing dynasty multiple times in the series I believe her clan was given a self governing province and has their own monarchy system, hence why the young master had succeeded to be the ‘King’.
@@gp2779 Ooh... thank you for your explanation! Hmm.. but that self-government, was it still called 'Joseon Kingdom'? Because he was called 'Wang Ye' (Prince, called to a real prince with a king as his father or grandfather).. I don't think that was respecful for the real Kingdom of Joseon... And when her maid discovered, she was sent back to 'Joseon' too after she was tortured... Yes, I watched Korean Sageuk first before I get hooked to Chinese one, so I know Joseon-Qing diplomatic ties, but I still couldn't believe Qing Dynasty will support a dangerous manouver like make another 'Joseon Kingdom' inside Qing's territory. Or the translation of review that I read was wrong when it said the 'Wangye' will become a 'King of Joseon'?

This drama is base on a web novel which tries to upside down mainstream stories or history. 90% of this drama are flatly false. Consort Gia's family was from Korea yes. But her grandfather deserted korea and her whole family has lived in China for decades and served emperors as imperial nannies or officials. China and the palace were her home from the start. Consort Gia was selected to be one of his concubines before he officially married 3 main consorts. Maybe Gia was his first love. If not we can't explain why she was one of the 5 women who were allowed to be buried in the tomb of the emperor. Unlike the rest 4 women, she didn't have any top official elements to get that highest honor - she was not an empress, her sons weren't chosen to be the next emperor, her first son was not the emperor's first son, she was not his first high concubine. But Gia was among those 5.

When she's in her personal quarters, Jia Gui Fei always wore the korean bun hairstyle that only married women are allowed to wear in the Joseon era. However, when she died she was wearing the unmarried (braided) hairstyle. Actually is Imperial Noble Consort Shujia. It's different. Imperial Concubine is 5th rank consort. Imperial Noble Consort is 2nd rank consort

Korea (Joseon) was a independent nation that had diplomatic ties with the Qing dynasty
However some of the Koreans decided to turn in their support and rely on the Qing dynasty. Hence the Emperor bestowed them Manchurian surnames and enacted them into Manchu Eight Great Banners. They’re considered to be citizens and serve the Qing dynasty. Yes, Jia Guifei still practices the musical instruments, attire and even consumes the dishes from Joseon, but she had also declared her clan’s allegiance to the Qing dynasty multiple times in the series
I believe her clan was given a self governing province and has their own monarchy system, hence why the young master had succeeded to be the ‘King’.
@@dygoldenflower1129 the wangye in here isnt related to joseon kingdom , i believe he was the korean that "serving" for qing at that time , and technically Jia guifei not a korea "citizen" already , and pls keep in mind that it's only a series , they romanticized and dramatized everything 😂😂 we cant get it all correct
@@lt3081 Hahaha.. Like I said before, I don't mind a touch of fiction because all historical drama indeed always had them. But if its as big as a history of a nation and the citizen of that said nation could watched them too without more explanation it's a bit too far for me..
The title should have said imperial noble consort not concubine
The title wasn't given oftern as it was 2nd only to the empress and was sometimes given when a concubine was sick and the emperor wished her to get better
