Mezco has some cool figures and all but there’s no height scaling at all between figures and I hate that, you know considering they put so much detail into everything else about the figures is a shame they don’t do it for their height.
Mezco does such a good job with sculpted plastic, I wish they would do that and no soft-goods. As a fan of your reviews I respect your opinion, but as a collector of mezco I do have to disagree when it comes to THIS figure. Being a mezco collector I am hard on the figures if I don’t like the look or the articulation I will sell it so I’m not thinking with a closed mind. This figure compared to the first release of tiger strip is way better in my opinion. To each his own. Not everyone is a fan of the cloth look, but for me as a photographer I love figures that give a realistic feel in photos. As you said for some who collect casually they may not enjoy it when it comes to the pose ability but that depends on the collector at the end of the day. Again I appreciate your honesty which is why I watch your reviews. Great job keep up the good work.
Same here and I agree with your assessment 100%. The strength of a Mezco is a realistic approximation of a character based on their drawn representation. I think Mezco has done something that is very difficult to pull off on a 1/12 that is usually seen in a Hoy Toys 12-inch figure. Mezco costumes are fantastic in photogenic light and don't stand out under a bright white sterile background. Behind a custom backdrop and good lighting and these are wonderful models to pose. I often appreciate the candor of the reviewer but I kinda feel like this was negative just for the heck of it. Other toy reviewers agree that this is an outstanding figure for the price point.
I haven't got a Mezco figure since 2020, and even then it was a relatively brief time I spent collecting them and I didn't get many. For me I stopped namely due to the price, but also because whilst I do like how they look I never pick them up or pose them, and that's due to a fear of straining or damaging the material. That's why I never plan on getting into Hot Toys, I imagine that like Mezco I feel like I'd spend more time concerned about how they'll hold up over time rather than just enjoying them for what they are.
You hit the nail in the head. This is why I'm not really a fan of mezco, because most of the action figures look like cosplayers instead of super heroes, also since the cloth goods are overlays for the whole body(mostly), they tend to limit articulation.
Yeah, some have an issue with their leather, some don't. The yellow Daredevil is notorious with it and why many custom makers ditched the original suit. None started to degrade bad and I keep them in a temperature controlled/humidity controlled room with barely anything but the most neutral of poses. Needless to say all my Mezcos are all sitting in their boxes. Don't even display them anymore. They were all the rage years ago, but then I got kind of tired of them and stopped collecting. Got too expensive and all the more iconic versions of the figure was always locked into exclusives that became too hard to grab at retail. Fuck that.
I have some mezcos but I got tired of their bad articulation (abds and ankle) for some characters meanwhile their originals are super articulated, so I either get the mafex or marvel legends, when it comes to DC you are kinda screwed because the only close option is mafex and they are doing very limited characters
I guess maybe I'm just not as observant as the rest of you, but this Mezco Wolverine is hands-down my best Wolverine figure. I can't stand Legends and their hideous joints, the AY has bizarre proportions, and the MAFEX, while awesome, has those STUPID blue stripes for no reason. Best figure I've bought in a long time.
The missus has a few Mezco figures and the ones she has look incredible on a shelf together. To me they’re just not conducive to figure photography because the clothing pulls the joints around and adds friction and it’s not the most fun experience. They do feel very premium to handle though in my experience and the unboxing experience always feels like an event.
As a mezco fan, I do agree with some points. Like, the figure definitely does not have Wolverine proportions. And I do their their ab and ankle articulation needs to be improved. But I think there’s also a lot to like about this figure. I think a 5/10 is a bit harsh. But to each their own. See if your friend will send you a mezco Batman (preferably their “supreme” or “sovereign” versions of Batman) or punisher figure. Those are typically done pretty well, and I’d be interested in hearing your opinion on them.
the sovereign knight batman also has bad ankle and ab articulation tho, the vinyl in mine started to deform in the elbow joint and the cloth started to turn brown for some reason
Not defending the retail price, but didn't it include a diorama piece as well? I don't have this figure nor do I plan on getting it. I don't mind the cloth look as I already collect 1/6 scale figs. Most of my 1/6 scale collection are kit bashes with a few bought completed figs.
Awesome review! Gotta say, you definitely hid many of the aesthetic issues in your photos at the end. So, it can be done. You're right. If it were me, I'd say he needs to be shorter, arms a bit shorter and legs/ass thicker. That would've gone a LONG way.
When I see figures like this from any line, I always compare it to the cheaper alternative. For $150 are you getting a proportionate increase in quality compared to a $20 Marvel Legend?
You're the only reviewer who's pointed out the fact that his head is oversized. I see mezco improving but they still have too many problems with their mezcofication of charecter designs and trying to make clothing look good for the 6in scale. I have their blade and iron fist and I think those are some of their better offerings.
I have only one Mezco 1:12 and it's not even a superhero. Some of them turn out great, many do share the flaws you pointed out here. Collectors really need to start demanding better of every line that asks for 80+ dollars. I'm not saying they shouldn't ask better from Marvel Legends too, but 150 for something that doesn't EXCEL in every area is kinda ridiculous.
What would be the best Wolverine out there for you? Because yeah….that Mezco is certainly not that one…I don’t own any Mezco figured and I guess I still won’t x)
I like how they finally made him 5’3 (160 cm) as he should be. Shorter people have bigger head proportionally and shorter limbs so I don’t get your grip on it
I'm glad that you reviewed a mezco.i was very curious on your opinion on them. I was a huge one 12 fan and I still do collect them but I cut down A TON on them. your gripes are valid honestly.a 5 may be a bit harsh but I get it. I personally have this figure and subjectively I do like it.
I'm the same as you. I had around 75 at one time, now around 60. On some figures , they absolutely kill it . But when there's a design flaw , that flaw is amplified just like the price. I have no plans to pick this one up but I do have Mezcos Samurai Wolverine and love that one . I would like to have that 89 Batman I pre ordered 3 years ago.
I do not like clothing on action figures...But, I do have a Mezco Batman, the supreme knight, and I love it. I've had it for almost two years and it has held up pretty well.
You make action figures and know exactly what you’re doing. You know what you’re talking about unlike other reviewers who are never honest because they probably don’t know how to make action figures or how they work. You’re honest and I appreciate that and you know your stuff which is why your videos are very informative. Don’t let any haters get you down man. Pointing out the flaws and talking about how to make it better is great and essential. Sometimes you gotta tell the truth and put these companies on blast for showing no TLC to their figures.
I agree with most of what u said except for it not looking good lol. I got alot of mezco figures and honestly besides the earlier ones, they have come a long way in regards to articulation with clothes on. But yeah I have and love this wolverine. My only gripe is the height. Great review, hope u get to do more mezco ones in the future
With all the flaws you gripped about!? The figure to me is the best Wolverine figure for the astonishing Wolverine look it works for me.. you kept sayin 150 worth but it comes with so much accessories you wasn’t paying 150 for one figure with minor accessories you was paying for that amount for the amazing looking stand it comes with and the accessories and effects with that fig. I’m speaking this at the time they just announced the new wolvy fig which is 85 for a fig with minor accessories! Which I’ll be gettin that one too lol
I think the cloth just comes down to the type of collector people are. The cloths look good to cloth type collectors I guess. I agree with the head being too big too. I kinda disagree with the colorings and details for the stuff though. Mezco is known to “modernize” some figures and this is one of those they tried to modernize. Wish the belt didn’t have pouches. Not like he carries anything but motorcycle keys and cigars.
Yo guys my own version of question of the day: Does anyone actually want superhero figures that don't look like superheroes? Like you see a figure and say "oh, too much muscles, so unrealistic" Let me know cause I genuinely want to know
I dont like clothing on figures at all, I dont mind cloth capes that much but when its a comic/ animated character i think plastic resembles the flat colors way better. cloth doesn't scale down well and a lot of the time the figures look too fat and the stitching and folds look off. Mezco are expensive but the accessories that come with this are amazing.
I'm almost certain that his head is a batman head with the huge black thingys added.... And that's not something just for this figure, but I always tought that wolverine having hairy arms and a smooth chin, it'd be so much more in character to have at least a 5 o'clock shade in there...
Funny… just picked up the most recent Uncanny version. Seems like they took some of your pointers. He’s got traps, the light blue colorations, nicer detail and about $60 cheaper (less accessories though). Still has some of the same issues like head size and some articulation gripes but, I gotta say it’s a better figure in my opinion.
Im not a mezco fan, I don't like the fabric as well, but that figure is not that bad as you described it. Perhaps it is not the best Wolverine figure, but definitely those accessories are superb. Although it tries to offer a few versions of Wolverine to the fans. No way to be perfect but it is satisfying enough. Let's not forget the inflation , everything is more expensive those days.
I like sculpt, not fabric. It just makes figures look like dolls and you lose a lot of the sculpt and musculature. I'm cool with fabric if it's something like a cape or jacket. A lot of Mezco's look pretty nice (like the new Superman), but I can't get into the line because I can't get past the fabric look. Even with someone like Superman, it makes him look unflattering and unsuper. So less Superman and just Man.
Not a big fan of cloth stuff outside of maybe a wired cape that looks decent. I bought this set for the base and am selling the figure itself....sacrificed a bottle of lagavulin and a bottle of vodka but i see it as a fair trade for my liver. Last time i had a figure wearing cloth it was Marvel famous covers Storm...was pretty neat gave it to a cousin of mine for her birthday back in the late 90s.
I've been done with Mezco's for a minute now, the fabric especially the leather ones just disintegrate after about a year and the limited articulation is a Joke especially for the price point! I totally agree with you.
I can look past overly long arms, longer lower legs, even low shoulders sometimes, but something about oversized heads really bugs me. It has this unsettling look that really detracts from my enjoyment. Also at this price point, I would expect comparable articulation to Mafex.
The biggest question for any Mezco figure is this: “Is he wearing a sock?” Yes, Wolverine is wearing a sock. I immediately thought of a weekend warrior cosplaying in a cheap suit when I saw this- he saw the $100 costume and the $500 costume and picked the $100 one. If the rest of the suit was the same leatherette as the diaper or they used the same stylized patches and neoprene-like stretchy foam material as they do on Black Bolt or Magneto, maybe it would have worked better, but the proportions still would stink as Wolverine shouldn’t have love handles. I might pay $50 for this for the base, stand, and the clear effects, but I’d definitely still sell the figure or just give it away because it’s just ugly. There are so many figures being released these days that I wouldn’t even take for free because they’re just so poorly executed.
I would not consider myself a "die-hard" fan as that term for me always comes with some sort of baggage but it's my main line of collecting. That said, I can't argue with anything that you said. I look forward to this figure as I like the fine line between articulated figure and posable statue and I like the own spin Mezco does. But yeah, the neck and size are like that since the first Wolverine released and nothing changed. That's def. a bummer.
I would like to see Anthony Judge a mezco gomez fig. Mainly for articulation and range of motion, that would be awesome. Plus he don't have butterfly joints but arms move well, which I think Anthony likes.
Seeing this now, the height and proportions being off is a common problem with mezco, its the whole reason why I buy mostly they're original characters compared to the licenced stuff. Some of their worst being Darkseid, Hulk, Variant Cable, most female figures ( bad proportions and articulation), and all suited figures not named Gomez or Skulls. They were originally made with detail, cloth goods, and articulation in mind; considering they advertise it on the box, but very few people are willing to critisize them for mistakes and just sheer laziness. I mean seriously, is it so hard to have decent articulation on all of these figures (taking muscle mass, proportioning and scale into account), considering your paying $90 to $200 for a "premium quality" product.
Yeah I noticed it seemed off when I got this figure and thought to myself "I wish Anthony would review this to point out exactly why it looks so weird but he probably won't." And here we are. Yeah the accessories are epic but them proportions are killing me 😭
When you buy a mezco, you would not expect some things like great articulations, marvel legends scale and a variety of figures. In the other hand, you would expect a lot of accesories, bad ass designs and of course, being expensive!.. This figure brings a lot of accesories, a bad ass sentinel piece, effects, a lot of hands and an incredible design.
I love the figure but I do agree with what you said. Love your reviews. It helps me decide if I want a figure. I was not gonna get SH Figuarts Cooler and your review changed my mind and I love that Cooler
Yeah, not a fan of cloth. It always makes me think “the 70’s want their action figure back”. Especially when they’re not done as well as the GI Joe cloths I got as a kid in the 70’s.
I mean the head size alone is so immediately noticeable, I don’t know how anyone could possibly try to objectively push back on that point. Its enough to completely ruin the aesthetic, aside from all the other issues.
I prefer the action figures of Mafex over Mezco in comic lines. I think that tight clothing does not work as well in this line, the seams are messy and the muscles are completely covered. In other characters that are not superheroes I think they nail it. I have a Hellboy and he's cool, I'd like to get the Nosferatu too. BTW, great review
I really enjoyed their mk figures.. but when they said they would do cloth figs at that scale, i was impresses that they tried. Never bought any of them though.
It’s actually pretty accurate to human proportions. Typical male shoulder width is 3 heads wide and the height of the head is the same as chin to bottom of chest. So maybe it’s the exaggerated fins that are throwing you both off. More often he says the heads are too small but he likes when the shoulders themselves are bigger than the head, so I’m not sure what he’s looking for exactly. Accurate human proportions or exaggerated super hero aesthetics?
Honestly, I just get the rumble society stuff. They seem to dump all the love and care into those. I have like one Batman and both Moon Knights. While I do love them, they can be a little frustrating to mess around with. I was on the fence with this one for a long time but I’m glad I passed.
I tried to collect Mezco but a lot of their superhero figures just don't look right. They can't achieve the exaggerated musculature look of comic characters with cloth over a plastic body. Their non-superhero figures generally look pretty cool though.
As for cloth, only for 1/6 scale. Bar none, Hot Toys and ThreeZero figures, look amazing but in neutral stance. For dynamic figures.....plastic sculpt all day.
It's so weird that nobody else I've watched has mentioned how huge the heads on Mezco figures are. People clown on McFarlane proportioning but for these expensive Mezco figures nobody says anything.
You get a bunch of head skulpts effects parts a dio piece that lights up, the soft goods are top notch, I get it soft goods at this scale is not for everyone but what action figure is honestly worth it’s price tag these days, 100 bucks for imports pretty much. That master chief from 1000toys cost the same with less accessories, no stand a few hands and 3 weapons? Is this hobby even worth it anymore?
Damn. I do respect you cuz u do usually keep it real with all the issues or what can do done better. Even when u like the figures or character, which clearly u don’t like this or mezco. But yeah this one hurt mines is in my pile of loot now at bbts and idk if I should even get it now or take store credit. And I been looking forward to this figure
Lol, great review. Here’s the thing, I am a Mezco O12C fan and have some of them in my Marvel collection. However, I completely agree with you on this one. From the first time I saw it, I was like “nope”. Just like their Spider character figures the articulation and use of soft good clothing just doesn’t work. Maybe some day they’ll figure out how to make it work but for now, it’s a hard pass on all non standard body type characters from Mezco.
Glad I canceled my order of this guy and saved 155$ . Mezco is hit or miss for me as a collector . I’m not a big mezco guy personally. Also to mention I’ve seen a video of this wolverine soft good costume was stitched off centered lol!!!
so funny you saying they look like migos because I have said that too. I have owned a couple in my collecting but could not afford them for one and I could never get past the cloth goods at this scale just makes them look like dolls lol. also limits articulation
The only Mezco figures I own are the 18 inch hellboy that are well proportion and when Mezco used to be good. I always said that the proportions of the new Mezco figures where midget like limbs and I never got my head around why people praise them so much. Specially for the price. Is like the follow the old school Mattel He-man proportions. Who in their right mind as an artist/ sculptor do that?.

The 5/10 is the result of the price being so high
the sovereign knight batman also has bad ankle and ab articulation tho, the vinyl in mine started to deform in the elbow joint and the cloth started to turn brown for some reason
I definitely prefer cloth cape. But I do prefer cloth costume if done right.
Not defending the retail price, but didn't it include a diorama piece as well? I don't have this figure nor do I plan on getting it. I don't mind the cloth look as I already collect 1/6 scale figs. Most of my 1/6 scale collection are kit bashes with a few bought completed figs.
I showed everything that came in the package
Love this figure! I did not like Mezco 1/12 line until I got one and been hooked ever since. You like what you like🤷🏽♂️
Just recently purchased this figure and I think it looks terrific! Still, i always thoroughly enjoy Anthony’s reviews.
you can't do that. you have to get mad and hate someone sho says things you don't also say. it's the rule of the internet.
@@AnthonysCustoms All right, all right , I hate you. And by the way, your reviews suck!!!
Awesome review! Gotta say, you definitely hid many of the aesthetic issues in your photos at the end. So, it can be done. You're right. If it were me, I'd say he needs to be shorter, arms a bit shorter and legs/ass thicker. That would've gone a LONG way.
I like that standard swap out belt buckle. Awesome review!
When I see figures like this from any line, I always compare it to the cheaper alternative. For $150 are you getting a proportionate increase in quality compared to a $20 Marvel Legend?
Not even close - this crap is overpriced
I don’t collect mezco but wanted to see ur opinion since ur reviews are the most objective on TH-cam as so many people are raving about this thing
Shorter people have bigger head proportionally and shorter limbs so I don’t get your grip on it
Not like this
@@AnthonysCustoms I think they should've gave him broader shoulders.
Otherwise it looks okay, to me
who cares how real short people look like. Check how Wolverine in the comics look like. Mezco looks like a cosplayer
Its pretty good but in articulation i prefer mafex
I like strategically placed fabric: capes, trench-coats, skirts, etc
That sentinel base is incredible
Im very suprise to see you review a Mezco figure! Great review! :)
Hey Anthony, in your opinion what IS THE best wolverine figure out here rn? Wether old or new ?
Hes the best midget wolverine. Mezco figures made them all out of midget characters
Sometimes you gotta tell the truth and put these companies on blast for showing no TLC to their figures.
lol
I mean… he makes shitty action figures. So yea he knows what he’s talking about when it comes to shitty figures.
@@disturbed680 beat me to it lol
No cloth, unless its like a cape or something with wire.
It looks like he got ripped straight out of Robot Chicken
Underrated comment
Mezco : Crying while watching this.
Hasbro : "First Time?"
I'm glad you're enjoying the figure. It's my job to review them though. If the things mentioned in the review don't bother you, that's perfectly fine.
I laughed when you pointed out the silver on his lip, never would have noticed that.
Yo guys my own version of question of the day:
Does anyone actually want superhero figures that don't look like superheroes? Like you see a figure and say "oh, too much muscles, so unrealistic"
Let me know cause I genuinely want to know
I dont like clothing on figures at all, I dont mind cloth capes that much but when its a comic/ animated character i think plastic resembles the flat colors way better. cloth doesn't scale down well and a lot of the time the figures look too fat and the stitching and folds look off.
The shoulder pads go up for when u display him as the first appearance. His shoulder pads sat higher in the comics
But they were also a different design
Funny… just picked up the most recent Uncanny version. Seems like they took some of your pointers. He’s got traps, the light blue colorations, nicer detail and about $60 cheaper (less accessories though). Still has some of the same issues like head size and some articulation gripes but, I gotta say it’s a better figure in my opinion.
Review more mezco figures
This was great.
I think the blue shoulder pads is what makes it look like he doesn’t have traps and a long neck
You should do a top 10 of 1-12 scale Wolverine figures
The biggest question for any Mezco figure is this: “Is he wearing a sock?”
Yes, Wolverine is wearing a sock.
Mafex Brown Wolverine is the best comic Wolverine out imo
I would not consider myself a "die-hard" fan as that term for me always comes with some sort of baggage but it's my main line of collecting. That said, I can't argue with anything that you said. I look forward to this figure as I like the fine line between articulated figure and posable statue and I like the own spin Mezco does. But yeah, the neck and size are like that since the first Wolverine released and nothing changed. That's def. a bummer.
I like the sentinel base. I think its too much for what you're getting. The tin comment was spot on, cmon metal? 😆
I wouldn’t mind getting the headsculpts onto marvel legends
Granted it may have flaws I'll stick with the mafex one this Logan isn't so bad but I'm not a fan of cloth figs anymore
Is there any chances that you will make video about Mafex The Dark Knight related figures ? Really interested in your opinion..
This figure brings a lot of accesories, a bad ass sentinel piece, effects, a lot of hands and an incredible design.
the line has 1:12 in the name and it's even bigger than ML which are already too big for that scale...
I wish you would’ve done a photoshop for this one, but good review. I got this figure and loved it, but you had great points.
I agree. But some people can't accept that they bought something with such glaring flaws.
I love how Anthony has people lending him their figures just to see him roast them lol
I really enjoyed their mk figures.. but when they said they would do cloth figs at that scale, i was impresses that they tried. Never bought any of them though.
wow i didn't think the head size was that giant until you brought out the marvel legends
Yeah they screwed up moon knight with no ab crunch and no ankle articulation
I tried to collect Mezco but a lot of their superhero figures just don't look right. They can't achieve the exaggerated musculature look of comic characters with cloth over a plastic body. Their non-superhero figures generally look pretty cool though.
Wired cloth capes only for myself
I also feel like mezco always look boxy to me
As for cloth, only for 1/6 scale. Bar none, Hot Toys and ThreeZero figures, look amazing but in neutral stance. For dynamic figures.....plastic sculpt all day.
Man, you keep saving me money. Good job
Glad to help
It's so weird that nobody else I've watched has mentioned how huge the heads on Mezco figures are. People clown on McFarlane proportioning but for these expensive Mezco figures nobody says anything.
Wooow 5 lol. Lots of people were praising this. Never seen this in hand tho.
I have it and enjoy it. Mezco isn't for everyone, and yes the price is too high as is every line now.
X effect yo can use it on character (figure) to imitate de weapon x finish of the marvel vs capcom games, or not , I think it fits 🤔
Is this hobby even worth it anymore?
it was built way better than this. this is kinda like a bad ML with clothes on as far as the body is concerned.
Ngl the brown suited mafex wolverine is my #1 as of lately
I don't like cloth and soft goods in general. That's why I prefer Amazing Yamaguchi for example.
Glad I canceled my order of this guy and saved 155$ . Mezco is hit or miss for me as a collector . I’m not a big mezco guy personally. Also to mention I’ve seen a video of this wolverine soft good costume was stitched off centered lol!!!
Off topic, hoping you do that wolverine head for the marvel legends wolverine from the apocalypse wave again
so funny you saying they look like migos because I have said that too.
I agree. The body proportions are nuts
