GOOOD DAY AXOLOTS today for #entertainment we venture out to the great lands of college, an unknown territory filled with the scent of despair and coffee. In this episode I bring you along with me as we explore the differences between college and high school, as well as make my dormmates hate me at 1am.

I love that Faline puts subtitles on their videos, I always use them because I have ✨problems listening to things✨ and some videos don't really have them, but the fact Faline does the work of putting the subtitles himself is amazing to me

I'm 14, but I've been looking forward to college ever since we did a tour of a local college this year to hype us up, and this makes me even more optimistic

Me too! Here we can go to college from age 14-18. I’m 12 years old and can’t go to school, so I’m homeschooled; but college sounds much better. People with similar experiences to mine have said the college I’m going to is good, so I’m definitely looking forward. (i’m in england, the college is different from the us. i guess it’s like a american high school mixed with american college [and i guess that could be like uni here])

With how chaotic Faline usually is, I actually really appreciate that genuine message at the end. I’m nearing college (and possibly moving to a completely different continent to study) and it’s all very scary to me as someone nearing adulthood but is still very much naive. don't worry about it do your best you will do fine yes the start is something else but like anything after a while it will be routine. I was a mess when I started back in 2021 in the middle of the pandemic in a different country but now near 2 yrs of study I feel like I understand to focus only on what I can control and no one can expect more than that you will be fine good luck.
I did the ”completely moving to a different continent” too and yeah it’s scary at first but my advice would be: Don’t worry about making friends and don’t hold back from talking to people.
I know it sounds contradictory but I’ve found that unless you’re in a very competitive field, most people you’ll meet in college are very chill and most likely in the same boat as you, so connections can form very fast.
Also always have the contact info of at least one person in each class, that way you can get their notes in case you have to miss a lesson.
Faline has never made a single bad video, I'm so proud of her :D

I’ve always been terrible with change and worried about big moves and, while I’m not going to college (yet) I’m taking my GCSES this year and I feel worried about them and like it’s a big step (my teachers and parents have been ‘hyping them up’ (for lack of a better word) for years), so thank you for reminding me I’m not alone :)
Worry about your A levels, not GCSEs. You can get into mostly everything with just a 4 in maths and English. Obviously, apply what you've learnt in the exams, but enjoy it and mess about too. They really don't matter. A levels however, phew I got through that with just one panic attack which is an achievement for me. Prep for A levels early

This perfectly sums up exactly what college has been like for me, just finished my freshmen year. The independence is both the best and worst part of it all. I also kinda miss having a school uniform, takes away the decision of what to wear every morning.

I spent 3 years doing absolutely nothing after highschool. It sounds amazing as an active student, until you've accidentally potatoed yourself. My BIGGEST regret is wasting my budding years on my mom's couch.
No work, no school, just kind of existed there, and barely even that. I developed serious social anxiety and depression; I thought I'd literally die at any moment. So many experiences I've missed out on and youthful years I'll never get back. I wish I had someone around that cared enough to reinforce the meaning of a "gap year."
I've since moved out and _attempted_ Vet college. (I promise it's hard to kick yourself back into gear when you've spent an eternity outside of a classroom.) Every moment I spend adulting comes with a bittersweet memory of me just loafing around. I'm still proud that I even made a step out, even if it was a bit overdue.
good job on leaving the couch :) ik about myself (still in hs) i often spend sundays in bed till 3pm and then just have trouble figuring out what time it is and actually doing things, this also happens in the school holidays just its extended and worse. its hard getting back into the swing of things. good job.

good luck on your college experience, fal! being independent in my uni days were probably one of the best things ive experienced in my life so far. really loved the freedom and all that. only con was that i had to be able to feed myself and get through the week with food my mom made me to go bring to the city and eat as well as, well, fast food. hope you enjoy your 4?? years of college and independency!

I’m going through my first semester of college right now.
Currently I’m in 5 classes working towards a major in education.
I’m struggling heavily in statistics and I have no friends of my own (I have three small friends but they’re really my sister’s, not mine)
I fear that maybe I’m making a mistake about my future and that I’m wasting money my family had to scrap to get me in.
But, seeing this video reminded me that I still have a lot of freedom on my own. I can go wherever I want and spend my own money on my own time. I don’t have a lot of my shit figured out and I’m really scared. But at the very least I know I have the liberty to make my own decisions. It sounds silly but, this video put something in perspective for me.
