as someone who has already graduated uni/college, it should not be your peak in life. like… yes, it can be a fun period. but don’t let the weird expectations of what it should be dictate how you actually enjoy it. it seems that most people are lonely while in uni. my genuine advice to anyone in uni is to make plans with your friends (or coursemates) to hangout, even if it’s just at a cafeteria or a cafe doing assignments.

My social anxiety led me to barely connect/keep in contact with people for about 16 years straight, let along make enough noise to get people to consider doing homework together outside of mandatory group assignments.
Alternate advice: stop caring about friendship and focus on being content with being alone and only be social for professional networking reasons while making sure the loneliness emotion is always suppressed.
I love how Faline is always like “wow I am so bad at school I’m gonna fail this test” and then has straight A+

yeahh first yr of uni was basically a lot of loneliness and confusion while i was still adapting to everything - but once you have a bit more of a grip on what to do, who your friends are and what your hobbies are, it gets easier and i feel a lot more content and in control now. and yes, clinging to good grades WILL help you through it lmao, you're doing great 👍

Honestly, i always loved the videos Faline made, it kinda gave me a glimpse of hope, Watching Faline cry just breaks my heart
yo honestly don't worry too much about feeling like you're missing out by not partying or going out all the time if that was never your thing before. it's true that it can be super crushing feeling like you have nothing or no one to look forward to, but having even one person in your life that you can see on the regular can really make that feeling turn around. I know it's the fuckin cliché thing to say, but if there are any clubs or other student organizations you can join, that shit really helps. I was part of the pokemon club when I was in university and lemme tell you what, dumb as it sounds, having that one thing to look forward to made everything else so much more bearable. the burden's a lot less heavy when you're not the only one carrying it. 💙

Don't worry. The first year of college can be a hard one but it gets better. Especially if you keep putting yourself out there and doing sociable things like joining clubs (in UK universities they're called societies or SOCs for short). Which is something I highly recommend!
Lots of people struggle in the beginning. Also, being away from your family at New Year is not easy. So don't be hard on yourself and keep trying because it will definitely get better!
I spent most of my high school senior years in lockdown and didn't even go to social events such as prom. Now I am even struggling getting into college/uni and it's like I'm missing out the normal milestones/self-discovery of entering college or experiencing that freshman experience without my mates 🥴

Okay so
I'm planning to apply to college sometime soon so that I can start in the fall, and ngl this video and the last college video actually alleviate my anxiety about the whole thing. I'm really twitchy about going to school again after 2 years of being an anxiety-riddled lump that's afraid of commitment, but these videos make me feel like it won't be so bad.
Also, the 'tap the friend on the shoulder and write the word 'slur' in their book' thing just reminds me really strongly of my friends and seems like the kind of thing we'd do to each other, so that just tickles me.

Yeeeeaaaahhhhh first year was rough for me too. Never cried more in my life up to that point. Also first time I considered that it would be easier to not be alive (but don't worry, I just mean literally because it is damn true bro). I moved away from my family for the first time and even though I was a 1-hour drive away and saw them every weekend... me was sad. I'm almost a year post-graduation from my 5-year stay uni, and I will tell you it GETS BETTER. Read on for my tip if you're a sad uni student
My #1 tip is join clubs or other groups so that you can make friends. It gets harder to make friends in uni because you aren't spending time with smaller groups of the same people every day like in public school, so you have to create that environment for yourself where you see people regularly enough to create connections or otherwise go out of your way to talk to people. Don't feel bad if you don't have a friends group like in the movies, kids. You might just have singular friends and one really great friend like I did. Uni is as much about developing yourself as your academics. And that means you'll learn more about yourself, how to live independently, and you'll develop your social skills. So talk to people and join clubs and events even if you're an awkward introvert like myself and just DRAG your butt out of the door! You might meet a best friend or lover that day. You'll never know until you try and you'll look back fondly on all the memories and things you learned while interacting with other people, even if it was unpleasant at the time.
As for me, I wrapped-up my university life on a high note. It took me until 3rd year to say I had a REALLY GOOD YEAR of uni, but that's okay. Enjoy it because although you'll probably be like me at the end and won't be able to wait to ditch assignments, tests, and homework for life, you will soon be MISSING it 😐 (TAKE ME BACK!!!!)
It's also my first year in college (after purposely pushing myself back because 18-year old me is in denial about being in the last stage of before-selling-your-soul-into-corporate-swamp-pits don't be like me) and I'm glad that deterioration of your mental state during college AND living away from family is a very normal thing.
The world has failed us and therefore deserves to burn.
