    In Transformers 4 when Optimus wakes up he's yelling for Sam to run. That combined with all the bullet holes in Optimus' body means Sam's death was always pretty obvious. Especially since when they were talking about hunting down the Autobots they specifically mentioned killing off their sympathizers to draw them out.

      All I'm saying is it makes sense for the character to say that. He doesn't know how he's alive.
      Granted, it's explained in the novelization, and there was apparently a deleted scene film where it actually its explained how Palpatine "lived".
      Spoilers, it's like 90% the same as it was in legends with a few details and location changes.

    • @killzolot
      @killzolot 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In legends, Palpatine transferred his consciousness to a clone body. I agree with theautomator that it makes sense the character wouldn't know, but I think they still should've explained it in the movie at some point for those who don't know the backstory. Plus, iirc, legends isn't cannon anymore, so really any reason could work

    Rosario Dawson was filming Star Wars stuff during the time Clerks III was shot. It was a scheduling issue….but Becky’s death is a vital reason for why Dante is so willing to risk everything for a person he loves who almost died. There’s no way he puts up his half of the stores for collateral for Randall’s movie if Becky and his child are alive. Also, the scene with Brian and Rosario leaving the movie theatre…so heartbreaking, but sweet. Dante can finally rest. There are only days off now.

    The death of Becky in Clerks 3 was really difficult for me to accept or even understand. I mean Rosario Dawson was still in that movie as Becky. But the fact that they killed her off sometime after Clerks 2 was really screwed. And being that time has passed near the end of 2 during the montage where Randal and Dante were rebuilding the Quickstop and shows Becky well ahead in her pregnancy meant she died very shortly after that film. It's just mind-boggling.

      The point was to show that Dante, who spent most of his life hating his job, in grief and only had a small circle of friends, at the end of the day looking back he saw himself as having a great life. If you kept Becky and her child alive and changes the story. I thought the death of Meryl Streep's character was actually done well in Mama Mia 2. We still got to see Donna at the end as a spirit/vision at her grandson's Christening, showing the bond with her daughter Sophie and others. It also framed why there were so many "flashbacks" And her offscreen death had impact throughout the whole movie on multiple characters. I wouldn't call it a lousy death, but a well done one given the circumstances. And if a lousy death, certainly not a number three (or 13 if you look at the first list as the top 10) lousy death.

    Resident Evil for me, they finally unite the survivors at the end of Retribution, just for Alice to take the lead again in Final
    Chapter.
    Not even explaining how the survivors died off, instead the novelization gruesomely killed the survivors in one fell swoop via a biomass. To which none of the survivors have been killed off in a game entry.
    It could really be argued that Paul WS Anderson and Milla Jovovich hijacked the Resident Evil franchise for exposure. As the film franchise and stunt work centers around Jovovich’s character. They basically used the franchise as their own personal portfolio for the sci-fi industry.
    Which worked because Paul would go on to direct Monster Hunter with Jovovich at the helm there too. Their daughter was also cast as a younger Natasha Romanoff in Black Widow.

    No it's not reasonable to assume the character just decided to do whatever somewhere else in Zion. A character like Tank would continue to follow his crew.

    • @zwordsman
      @zwordsman 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      arguably it would've been plenty good to have had Tank retire to teach others or train others due to his injury.
      It would've been a fantstic explaination for why so much of Morpheus and Neo became such a viral sensation to zion...when the leader ship didn't really like them much and it was heavily implied it was a word of mouth that spread it through neo rescuing but Morpheus was before.
      I would've liked the implcations that tank and others were pushing for them at home the whole time they were out. Since most of the folks they actually rescue in the matrix are out of zion on ships too.. so it always felt a bit weird. Even considering rescued folks go to Zion generally.
      They needed a home team to really push that.

    Although Hagen is sorely missed in Godfather 3, I still think its a pretty good film. The studio should have given Duvall what he wanted.
    Ridley Hack made Alien Covenant out of spite. It also needs to be noted that he suddenly rushed this movie into production after the Blomkamp idea for Alien 3 was gaining a huge amount of momentum by fans. He has now recently started whining about how he wished he made the Blade Runner sequel instead. This is his fault. He has no one else to blame. Alien Covenant is not only one of the worst movies of the last decade, but it also ruins Prometheus. Prometheus was strongly flawed in its script, but it had interesting ideas. A potential sequel could have built up on these ideas if done properly, but Ridley Hack put this pretentious garbage out that is clearly not what he had initially set up with Prometheus.
    With his awful Alien prequels, & other trash like Hannibal, it is obvious that Gladiator 2 is going to be more rubbish. Not to mention that the original film, while enjoyable, is still a cut & dry revenge story with one note characters that doesn't warrant a sequel.

    This list seems a bit nitpickyy. Not every death needs an explanation no matter how important or favored the character was. Not everything needs to be explained. Sometimes it could ruin pacing or change a story just to keep a character in just to kill them off and since most of the actors in here were problematic Im not sure what people were expecting the studios to do. Grit their teeth and bare with a troublesome performer and risk the whole production?

    Killing Becky off screen made sense in the context of the movie because it allows the movie to focus on Dante's inability to move on and cope. He's a shell of his former self because he found happiness, and had it brutally ripped away from him in a tragic and sadly common way. It's not something you have to build to which wouldn't have allowed the movie to tell the story it
    needed to tell, and it's not something that would have been done suddenly because then it would have started the movie off at a place where it would have been extremely difficult to come back from IE killing off a beloved character in a brutal act of violence mere moments into the movie's start. So yea, killing off Becky makes sense, and its not as if she doesn't appear in the movie. She's just not "alive".

Though Kennedy DID have to reshoot the terrible ending with Indy dying the damage was already done. Hell, George Lucas made it pretty clear he had no respect for Kennedy by intentionally leaving her out of his speach where, despite being right next to him on stage, he congratulated the OTHER people he’d worked with in the past.

    January Jones was a jerk and tried to extort money out of her baby daddy. Then when the judge told her that wasn’t allowed, she was basically throwing a fit and then was being a jerk so they fired her from the X-Men franchise. Even the kids who played her kids on Mad Men said she was awful to work with. I have no sympathy for someone like that.
    Shia was being a total punk. He blamed Steven Spielberg for his downfall when Steven called him the next Tom Hanks and praised him. Shia sank his own career and was also saying he never wanted to do Transformers again saying it destroyed his career. Once again, no sympathy.
    Edward Furlong. Wow he flushed his career down the toilet. He had so much potential and what did he do? He got hooked on drugs and became an abusive piece of trash. Sorry, but even his on screen fate in Terminator: Dark Fate was too good for him. I don’t respect Edward Furlong and he is refusing to pay child support. He’s instead spending his time abusing drugs and abusing his frequent gf Monica Keena. Not being funny, that’s what he is doing. He had a restraining order against him for beating her up, only to be found with her coming out of a restaurant, flaunting that he doesn’t care what the rules are.
    Oh and lastly with January Jones, she wasn’t even supposed to play Emma Frost. That was going to be Alice Eve but she bowed out due to scheduling and not being happy with the character.

    I don't think Sam Witwicky's death was "insulting" per se, since every story beat in Bay's Transformers series is insulting; couldn't even keep narrative and world-building continuity between films, so hardly surprisingly the ostensible protagonist was eventually forgotten, too.
    I didn't mind the Sarah Connor cancer death; obviously, as everyone notes, only the first two Terminator movies are really good, and the rest are mixed bags to say the least. I enjoyed T3 less as a follow up to T2, and more of fun sci fi action movie.
    I didn't find Mutt's death insulting, since I had no attachment to the character; he was an annoying studio note in the first place (youth, young person, cool, rides bikes, swings with monkeys, kids!), so why would I care if he is discarded due to another studio note.

    Most of those death has to do with the horrible "sad old man" trope. Lazy writes do not know how to motivated old character whose stories got a good resolution, so, they kill someone important as to put the character in the sad old man place whose life has to be fix, thus having a reason for the movie to exist. Ever since Logan was a success almost all legacy sequels. Ironic, the one who did not do it, was the most succesufull one. Maverick. At the star of the movie Maverick life is not perfect, for sure. But he is not a sad old man. He is doing a job that he loves, he still friends with Iceman, in fact, seems to be a friend of the family, he did not rise to the ranks but had a very full career (and lets be honest, Maverick is a lot happier as a captain than as an admiral) and still shockinly, they found a wya to motivated the character. Did hollywood learn their lesson since? Off course not, more sad old man in every franchise possible.
