The harmonica he plays in "Amazing Grace" his father gifed him when he was 7. Dan is a very humble man. He has in his covers documented his growth starting around 2009. He dedicates and shares his suicide prevention in his channel he sings" Don't Give Up, You Are Loved", shares a heart felt comment on a cover Chester did. I believe if you listen to his cover of “For All” and stay listening for the outtake he speaks of himself in the third person. This is the only place I have heard him speak of himself in the third person. Please check out more of his covers….you will not be disappointed. He has put many years into his training and discipline and we are all very lucky to be apart of his journey.🎶💕
As far as I know Dan does all instruments and singing himself. If he has others working for him he always has credits for it all at the beginning of the video

You should take it seriously, about Dan "speaking about himself in the third person." Dan writes ALL of his descriptions (on YT and on his own site), plus he does his own intros and outros (except that he had to stop doing the outros when YT started making changes about those). All it means is that he writes things like, "Dan writes about himself in the third person." That lets people know that other people in his own internet places, aren't writing about what he does and doesn't do, or how he thinks. He tells us straightforwardly and truthfully about what is important to him, and why he does what he does. Now, if he's talking to you, face-to-face (as in livestreams and podcasts), of course he doesn't speak of himself in the third person. When he's writing about these things where people will be seeing it for years to come, he does. 😀 Dan always does his own background voice parts. From the beginning of his channel, he has done that. More recently, if there aren't WORDS to be sung, he will insert a "canned" bit here and there, that indicate things like a hummed harmony, or an overlaying rhythm that creates a different sound than you'd usually hear in one of the songs he covers. In many of his videos, you'll see "Little Dans" pop up along the sidelines, and you can clearly identify which ones are singing which harmony line or counter-rhythm. One of his newer "Little Dan" songs is his rendition of "My Mother Told Me." It's fabulous!
