That's why i always carry a heavy-duty ratchet strap. You can use them like a come along or if you have points to wrap it around rite behind the back tire and to the right of the rock you can wrap it around the tire and use i like a wench to pull the rock to the right.
I was always taught that if someone loaned you a vehicle you always returned it to them better than picked it up. I always filled up there tank and cleaned the vehicle before I took it back to them. I thought you were about to use the winch with a snatch block anchored to one of the old trucks on the side of the road and do a 90 degree pull on the rear end of Heavy D's truck. Same effect as what you attempted with the hi-lift, just easier. Love the fortress videos Wizard.
Alan, If you keep a 3.2t Tirfor at the base of the mountain you have enough heavy equipment anchor points to pull anything where you want it. Great work getting the truck out without damage anyway.
What a great adventure in life... Thanks for sharing with us. Over time, it looks like your going to need to have snow management equipment on site. ... and perhaps a secure storage/ refuge building for when you are unable to get up the hill.

Howdy Al glad you managed to get back from California ok I think you may need to boxplane the road come spring summer and a stick of dynamite 🧨 will sort that rock out and stop it getting caught in front of your rear wheel in future. There’s nothing worse than a rock that’s 1/100 sticking out the ground getting caught in front of your rear wheel.
Consider building a tram (ski lift) from the bottom of the mountain to fortress? Imagine riding up with your packages instead of navigating the road in ice, snow, and floods.

Hi Allan.... Love watching your trials and tribulations! Not that I know anything about it (as I live in the UK and we don't have the snow you get) but I thought that the forklift would be a great and useful addition to the mountain, i'm not sure it is powerful enough or it would be safe (or possible) but is there any way of making some sort of snow blower to fit to the forks to help you get to the Fortress???, even getting to your base camp seems difficult in the winter! Keep plugging away, you'll get there one day 👍
Not right words for you but it is relaxing watching you overcome obstacles. Might have been bit easier to move rock abit with strap and forklift, would be lighter and less expensive than that beast of a 4x4

There is snow season then it is followed by mud season. Been on my place 20 years and this year I had to chain up for the first time. May have to again when all this global warming melts. Good luck next time. Good recovery!

You need a snow blower to clear the track so you get up top but then again you need decent wide track so you can get up the hill

Wizard reminds me of some of the old farmers I grew up around. Ingenuity requires illogical methods most of the time. You have to use what you got.

I think they were saying that Alta Ski resort broke 600 inches of snow on this last storm so we have a ton of snow up higher! That's 50 feet of snow!

Snow has to be your 2nd biggest obstacle on the fortress project. You need a bobcat on tracks with a snowblower to clear the way.
