- Tips To Beat 2BC In Dead Cells | VeeDotMe Dead Cells Guide
"Hello VeeDotMe, Any tips for beating 2BC? I have been stuck in 2 Boss Cell Difficulty for days / weeks / months and I am hoping for the best way to beat Dead Cells in 2BC"
I answer a lot of these questions and play through 2BC difficulty in an attempt to show the decisions we made to make this win possible!
Dead Cells Update 20:
Brings a new biome to Dead Cells, an alternative to High Peak Castle. The Derelict Distillery is accessed through the Collector zone leading to High Peak Castle after either the Giant or Time Keeper.
Also introduces 2 new weapons, the Tesla Coil Turret and the Barrel Launcher weapon.
Dead Cells Update 1.9:
Lots of items & weapons have been nerfed or boosted, with the goal of opening up a wider range of builds, while not sacrificing what made the previous meta builds fun. If you want to know exactly which items have been changed and how, check out the patchnotes (link at the end of the post).
About the Dead Cells The Bad Seed:
Explore a relaxing Arboretum, wade through a noxious Swamp and take on a new boss in this new early game content designed to expand the Dead Cells universe and add variety to runs for people who want to support the development of the game.
So you’ll be able to play through:
The Arboretum: A relaxing and peaceful greenhouse inhabited by a peaceful clan of mushrooms, with an understandable desire to murder the Beheaded.
The Swamp: A noxious environment ruled by a band of tree dwelling mutans with pointy sticks, sneaky dart shooting frogmen and a bunch of deadly bloodsuckers.
The Heart of the Swamp: Domain of mama tick, if you’ve seen StarShip Troopers, you get the idea...
The two new levels and their monsters are alternatives to The Courtyard/Toxic Sewers and The Ramparts/Ossuary/Ancient Sewers, with the boss designed to be on par with The Concierge, so hopefully it’ll spice up your early game runs once you’ve played through the core game.

To add a perspective on why 2BC is such a sticking point for so many:
Everything vee says is correct, and important, but it’s all small pieces. There are two big picture issues that are worth mentioning.
First is merely being able to reach hotk. Until now, on 0 and 1 bc, the game doesn’t punish you much for getting hit. That is, you can take tons of hits at all points, biomes, bosses, etc, and still win. Put another way, you are allowed a high number of mistakes on 0 and 1 bc. Players get used to playing that way: sufficient to win. 2bc is the first time players are really asked to stop getting hit-this takes a fair degree of additional skill, and a change in mindset, over 0 and 1 bc. The second big issue is passing hotk. I had only 4 attempts at hotk prior to reaching 2bc. And my early 0 and 1bc wins were frantic luck fests. 2bc isn’t going to let you do that anymore. You actually have to learn hotk’s moveset and figure out the timing to either roll jump dodge or parry his moves. This is perfectly doable, but like anything else, it takes practice. Since hotk comes at the end, it’s simply tough to get reps against him, especially if you’ve unlocked 2bc and keep doing runs and dying before you get there. All the other meta strategy and build decisions and understanding build synergies vee is discussing here absolutely matters, but I’d argue that the 2 major factors I’ve added are even bigger factors in people’s struggles with 2bc. In many ways DC becomes a new game requiring a different approach at that point, and learning those things takes some time and practice.

true but considering there is another 3 boss cells the difficulty spike goes too high. Since it severly punishes you without giving you health vials at all ( maybe 1 in 3 maps) it could compensate with something else to balance it. I get the difficulty philosphy behind this but there is a thin line of having fun and frustration. But then again the accomplishment feeling its nice.
Fuck, I've been stuck in 2BC for too long, but with the Fatal Falls release I decided to get my hands in beating the game again. I guess this tip is the best I've yet to find, even if I have been carrying a shield with me through all my runs. Guess I'll just have to force myself through it

@@codycriss7910, good thing is that today I reached High Peak Castle, and that was the farthest I got with 2BC. Cool thing, I believe the bosses don't get exponentially harder, I defeated Time Keeper 2BC first try. Of course, HOTK will be a much different story, because that guy always trashes me, 0 or 1 BC
So, everyone I know (irl) has had the most trouble with 2BC. The problem is that the game is "harder" but the bump up in equipment does not equate to the difficulty bump. You are right, free stuff is the most important, because you have to "buy" your way into the weapons, which means that you are always poor.
Ya I pass 2 BC maybe last month and everything became easy after. Now I stuck on 4 BC Giant boss. Watch your guide helps a lot thanks.
That info about using the cluster grenade to clear the curse and then switching it back out was super helpful information

if your still stuck on 2 bc just realize health flask are not the only way to heal and food will be your primary 2nd take your time looking over the dungeon being fast does not matter
I just beat the giant on 4bc and got the 5th cell tonight. It's amazing how great this game is and addictive and the difficulty scales really well.

Final Boss, "handu king" lmao!
If you're still struggling use Vengeance mutation and Tonic and Ice Shards with a spamable melee weapon like the Stiletto and have Heart of Ice to get your Tonic back up and it's pretty much impossible to die to Hand of the King.

It took me 43 runs to beat 2BC, and on my very 1st run on 3BC I killed hand of the king.
I've been hard stuck 2 bc because i play off and on but can confirm that bats are the things that hurt me most

The tentacles with Conjuctivius is what always ruins my run, even though the route with him is by far the best route to take.
Conjuctivius is a she most probably. But i prefer concier, he is very ez to beat and gives q legendary weapon.

This video got me from 2bc to 4 back in the day… and I would’ve easily killed the Giant, but I went for that 4bc door and died to the traps. Now after almost two years of not playing, this refresher course got me to 3bc and I don’t even have the spider rune yet. I take a free extra hits because I can’t stick to the walls and I don’t have armadillo pack yet(just unlocked the hunter grenade!!!), but this video reminded me how to win
Thanks for this video, I JUST in the past three days got past 0BC and just last night I beat the hand of the king for the second time, 1BC so now I need to go after 2bc but there's a huge change in my playing style after 1BC. Got the cycle tubes and now I'm stuck dying a lot in the first few biomes but I know I'm on the way with how many times I got the 30/60 kill doors between biomes because I've been moving so fast and rarely getting hit unless I'm really tired or it's like my first run or two of the day
Honestly all I’ve struggled with is getting through the biomes. Bosses aren’t hard. The actual enemies are a pain

I’m new to the game and have only played for the last two weeks or so. I breezed thru 2BC with frost blast and the broadsword while taking every green scroll possible. The wolf trap and the crusher also. Every few boards I bought the newer better versions of each and kept paying to upgrade them. You can get the broadsword w +175% damage on frozen shit. And use the frost bite mutation also to up the damage. You can freeze and then one shot every enemy all the way to the end. And if you’re being safe use the traps in spots to conserve health
Been stuck on 2bc since pimp my run update, maybe even earlier... still having fun!
From my experience the main difficulty in 2BC is the healing, flasks are needed for the hand so spending them on biomes should be avoided as much as possible, gastronomy is a great help because there is always at least two food sources per map, is both are minor you go from a 30% healing to a 60%, if there is one major one you get a full healing.
Crowd control skills are not as good as high burst damage skills, dead enemies don't respawn, and the hand don't give a crap about slow, stun, freeze and rooted.
Defensive skills such as tonic, smoke bomb and ice armor are really useful too, though they are best paired with skill cooldown reduction mutations.
Oh and the door after the collector can be destroyed to upgrade the legendary forge faster, saving a lot of money on later runs.
That's what I do on 1 BSC to farming until 1st boss and then redo again, ik it's boring but ++ is good stuff
Finally beat 2bc with an all survival build focused on healing and parry’s to get to the HOTK with all health vials. Start using shields and learn the parry’s. The parry healing mutation(what doesn’t kill me) and frenzy get me through to the end of every stage with nearly full health. This helps with gold too because I cash out the extra vials that aren’t needed in the passageways for $3000. The baseball bat is my preferred weapon for frenzy and getting a root grenade will make the bat deal critical hits. I like the gold shield to get more $ but any shield will work. It is crucial that you practice against time keeper and HOTK with a shield and learn to parry their hits. Time keeper is relatively easy once you know all the parry’s. And taking your time in each biome focused on healing is what turned the tide for me
I usually die in the second half, either to the second boss or the biome after the first boss. I think it's because I haven't memorized the attack patterns as I am inconsistent with what routes I take.

Once no hit timekeeper by pure luck I had two L weapons and I nearly one hit her, that was hella epic and + it was sheer luck so it felt even better!

Since you re playing on the PS4 ,how did you rename the Custom Preset??
2bc was a piece of cake, I'm pretty sure that I beat it in less than 5 runs, but 3bc was madness but beat it with scythe armour and tonic after lot of runs.
You should do something like this again. Just bought Dead Cells right after the new update and some of the recommendations got nerfed. Good stuff though!
I think the biggest problem 2bc players have is that they can't estus chug through the game anymore.
You are exactly right as to why 2bc is so hard for all new players. 0 and 1bc allow you to heal through all mistakes. 2bc takes that away and forces you to either use a sheild or not get hit at all because you can't heal anymore.
I know people say 2bc is usually where the game really picks up in difficulty, but I beat 2bc just a few days after I beat 1. I've been stuck on 3 for a while now though.

I beat both 0bc and 1 bc with purple and using the deployables to kill everything then and beating the final boss cuz I had 5 flasks. 2 bc is the first time even attempting using shield.
The main reason why people struggle in 2bc is because they don't know about "merchandise category". I myself learnt about it after getting into 3bc somehow.

I thought the jump up to 2 BC was the largest until I went from 3 to 4 BC. That jump is huge. Especially before they got rid of the malaise on 4. I’ll need to really put in work if I’m gonna get to 5 BC. I just want to unlock all the weapons!

I did escape 2bc tonight, created a custom game to get traps and ice crossbow, finished hotk no flask remaining and 153 hp... really pulled it by an hair.

Only reason I beat 2BC was the two extra power scrolls I got from 2 challenge rifts. (Not a seeded run btw just really lucky). Even then my build was Giantkiller, Rampart, Tonic, and Ice Armor. I was able to complete that run and drink once total from my flask.

Great video, but is it possible you are earning too much money due to playing down from 5bc? I am at 3 bc right now, and I always kill everything, usually get the no hit doors, always go to the bonus level, and there is no way I have 23k at ancient sewers. I'm also stingy on my early rerolls.
Hmm, I don't think there is anything I used to increase the money gain. At least, I hope I didnt miss a detail on my gold gain.

I got to 2BC yesterday and almost got out by today, using the heavy crossbow and a a survival build. So I guess with that build it is quite easy..
Unfortunately I just wasted half of my potion in the sewers and then only had 1 use left to fight the hand of the king... :'( But still got him down to approx 10%..

aren't you using weapons from higher bc? if that's even a thing. I saw a lot of weapons I don't have unlocked yet. lacerating aura for example. I can get further through 2bc now but the bosses wreck me.
Lacerating Aura comes from Daily Challenge (as well as Meat Skewer and Swift Sword)

2BC is incredibly tough. 3BC is actually somehow easier. 4BC is very tricky. you mustn't get hit at all. the malaise will kill you faster than any boss can.

hey guys! im having a problem. Im trying to get the achievement for finishing the distillery without using the barrel launcher and killing the infected worker with his own barrel and im not able to get it as much as i try. I did several runs and im sure that i killed the worker with his own barrel and im even more positive that i finished the level without using the barrel launcher. Is this some error in the game or there is something secret that i have to do to get those trophies?

I stopped playing this game for good at 2bc, finally made it to the Hand of the King and barely scratched him, meanwhile his attacks all nearly one shotted me. That's enough of this bullshit and developers thinking it's funny to make their games unfairly difficult in cheap ways

Stats were removed from weapons. You will now only see stats on amulets (and the hunter's grenade)

I've tried "downgrading" to 2BC from 5BC a couple of times with the necessary limitations (Forge level etc.) and every time 2BC felt like an easier 5BC that has no malaise from mobs, less elites, no teleporting enemies and 2 free flask refills 😮 It felt very easy and if I didn't know better I'd be thinking "Well what's everyone's problem with 2BC? It seems pretty doable!"
From my point of view, _dropping down_ to 2BC with my 5BC skills makes it look easier than it actually is, because 2BC players are trying to _struggle up_ ... and struggling up is much harder than dropping down.
It's been so long since I was a 2BC main and there have been many balance patches inbetween. You can downgrade the Forge level but you can't downgrade your personal skill level in Dead Cells 😁

Rest assured that I had great difficulties when I entered 2BC for the first time in my life though.

This doesn't look right, you load up this custom mode and get some insane whip and start crushing ass, literally the only good weapon I've unlocked so far is lightning bolt and the dps from that is what carried me through 0 and 1 bc, try again with only having access to shit like broadsword, crowbar, vorpan, tentacle, nutcracker, and only default mutations because in like 30 hours the only mutations that have dropped for me are frenzy, what doesn't kill me and frostbite

Just wanted to note that you should rename this video to "shitting on 2bc players". As someone who still struggles to beat 2bc, this video did not help at all. Most of the stuff you used aren't unlocked for me yet.

I have died 1 single time in dead cells and it was in 2 bc (AFTER A METRIC TON OF RUNS AND PRACTICE AS WELL AS GETTING GOOD SO DONT GET MAD AT ME FOR BRAGGING MAYBE YOU SHOULD JUST GIT GOOD)
