You're missing some really important definitions and contrasts between the applications of fundamentalism. Any religion can be fundamental if its members are able to apply their understanding of the faith/belief to make choices. The traditionalist view is that a person's choice is non-essential and ill-advised, preferring that its members practice tradition over choice. The other major difference is in the individual religions themselves. How one religion handles the "others". What is fundamental to a Christian is love and forgiveness where by contrast to the worship of Habal (called Allah nowadays) the "others" must either convert or die. This, oddly, enough, makes catholicism of the 1800s and earlier both a traditional and fundamental (to its pagan origins) style of faith as practicers also used the convert or die approach. All of these points make for an interesting discussion as it may seem to the casual observer that fundamentalism is similar to radical and that traditionalism is more akin to unifying/accommodating. I would ask that we look beyond the terms and ask why is it so important that we label and that we define the groups today. Is there a need to standardize, and how far would or should society go to ensure there is a standard? Should we practice do or die in order to get there? If so, isn't that both traditional and fanatical?

Fundamentalism is about practicing what is written or what is scriptural in a particular belief. The flaw; and this is a stretch, is that a person practicing what is scriptural may, by their own interpretation, practice differently than others in the same religion. What most seem to miss about fundamentalism is that it's the most personally honest practice of a belief. That is actually what fundament is all about. This video argues that there are common traits between fundamentalism, which are negative or contrary to society. This is completely false, however, since no two societies are the same, and there are at least as many societies as there are countries and actually far more. There is a very naive idea among some Western thinkers that there is such a thing as a Western society or even a universal society (even more incorrect). Every neighborhood in the US, for example, has its own society and its own pecking order, and the rules can change dramatically between streets or blocks. What most of these deny is how close the world is to a complete collapse of law and order due primarily to the decay of fundamentalism and the rise of universalism/traditionalism.
