This is Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye (MTMTE). The story follows a crew of Cybertronians led by Rodimus, who go on quests in their starship, the "Lost Light". But this section follows Ultra Magnus and Rodimus as they discuss Tailgate, who wants to become a Decepticon!

His voice in the end… guy sounds depressed and traumatized. And for good reason. Dude Just watched an entire war that lasted for centuries in a matter of 11 seconds. I Feel bad for the guy.
What made it worse is that it wasn't like watching a video but he got the memories of those who fought. Minus the emotions.
Unlike organics cybertronians have their memories stored in drives that can be accessed even after death.
It's this simple reason that Shockwave and Soundwave had their memories encrypted. Starscream's was so scrambled with his personality it was futile to try to download as you wouldn't know what was his illusion of power and actual memories. Megatron booby trapped his to kill him and any autobot attempting to try.
I love that panel showing tailgate's optics behind the visor. Or, really, the whole sequence. The writers could have gone with a hundred different approaches to convey the horror of the war, but instead, they went with something more subtle, closing in uncomfortably on tailgate's face as his eyes(?) widen more and more. Then showing that shot of the light coming through the visor, exposing his raw optics with all that mechanical detail while tailgate just sits there in silence, perfectly conveying the feeling of "internal screaming".
And the way the lighting doesn't turn dark or change at all just adds to the creepiness.
Not quite the voice my head cannon has for Tailgate, but really good none the less. Rodimus, Rewind, Magnus? Spot On.

But yeah, it’s surprising when you find out those guys have aliases based on cities.
Those are also Deception cities
Specifically Tarn is named after the city where Megatron is from

The Simanzi Massacre was a watershed moment for the Cybertronian race-a titanic battle in the region known as Simanzi that raged for generations, annihilating half of the entire Cybertronian race and leaving the devastated planet Cybertron almost entirely under Decepticon control. Something called the Crucible was at the centre of it; an associated event was known as the Forced Flood. So great were the forces unleashed that the planet's southern hemisphere was superheated.
They said that after Simanzi, Cybertron glowed purple in the heavens...Megatron, "The Becoming"

Can we talk about how they basically downsized the cortical psychic patch into basically a headphone jack, and based on the way we see it used between Rewind and Tailgate it can seemingly just transmit information directly instead of merging minds so it’s arguably safer
And they treat this as a casual piece of equipment

Ngl I get what they are doing but at the same time it’s from a bias point of view as it’s just the auto bots side of things not the decepticons if it wa another this would be in simple terms less of a history lesson and more of a side choose

Yeah I choose Decepticon.😑 The Autobots are kind of jerks, I mean at least the Decepticons are straight forward about it.

the only time i sympathized with the deception's were in TFP where in the novel they were lowly workers judged and oppressed by the caste system who are forced to work based on what ' alt mode ' they have until Megatron ( at first ) wanted equal treatment of all bots and wanted to throw the Caste system into the abyss for a new and better system until he was betrayed by his only close comrade Orion Pax ( Optimus Prime ) for wanting a ' peaceful ' route to change ( which is what the corrupted leaders wanted to keep their seats ) thus becoming a prime on the spot, and then the war ensuing that decimated Cybertron

Yeah, I feel like that line of thinking is problematic. Take this line in the context of this continuity. Yes, the war is far more morally grey with the Autobots starting out as enforcers of tyrannical Primes and corrupt Senates while the Decepticons started out as a peaceful social movement until Megatron and many others deemed revolution the only method of change. It is in fact the Decepticons who convince the Autobots to help them overthrow Zeta before they betrayed them, like how Megatron convinced Orion Pax how corrupt Cybertron was in the Aligned Continuity. And when the war reached into space, countless organic civilizations died due to becoming battlefields and the Autobots had plenty of war criminals which Prowl covered up.
However despite the dark similarities between the two sides, they still have important differences that are easily forgotten in the moral grayness of the story: the Decepticons became determined to wipe out not just all organic life, but all non-Decepticon robotic life to ensure peace. The Autobots for all their faults eventually came to fight to coexist with other species, even if they had issues with them. If Megatron won, he would have ruled as a tyrant because only his people would be left. But when Optimus won, he stepped down when the people demanded it.
Decepticons and Autobots in IDW may both have monsters with the former being open and supportive of them while the other keeps them in the shadows, but you have to remember why the Decepticons embrace such terrible people and why the Autobots don’t.
Who said anything about Megatron it Starscream I side with.

not how i perceive brainwashing, but i can see the way you're looking at it. to me it was just...highly aggressive. there was no conditioning, rewriting, just showing info of historical events. extremely dark and potentially traumatizing events, but still just showing.
@@roypythor7962Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't this take place still hot off the heels after the war? Like only a couple of years maybe less? It would make sense why they still have a prejudice towards decepticons, because for them the war hasn't been over for that long. Still though I'm surprised that even post war they still have factions, wouldn't it be better if everyone was neutral?
