I have the H6 and I love it. So versatile. The main thing I use it for is hooking up microphones to it while I'm recording interviews out on location. Much better than trying to plug mics directly into my Nikon cameras. I also use it for recording sounds in the studio.
Got myself a H4N Pro and a power supply, second hand for around 150€. After a month, I got around three hours of stuff in there. Owned Ableton Live for years, never got anything done with it, just ended up frustrated and feeling guilty. I plug the Zoom into a cheap mixer in my rehearsal space, and track stuff down. Gotta recommend it to everyone, these humble devices spark creativity real easy.
That’s dope bro. I used to have my H5 at the end of the chain for my beats too. I need to try that again. I liked the flow of it for some reason. It felt nicer than recording into my laptop
I believe inputs on H5 are XLR/TRS, which means you can plug SP404 mk2 just to one input (via 2x mono to 1x XLR/TRS cable) and you don’t need to think about balancing left and right with the wheels and you have 2nd input free ;) Personally I have H2n which I use for multiple things but I wish I could have more versatile input options (it has only mini jack input). Thank you for the content, amazing as always ❤
@@artisans8521 same! It’s my sampler, field recorder as well as main tool for interviews which are essential to my job. It never let me down and it’s one of the most essential pieces of gear that I own. Also it’s so nice that you can just take your SD card from Zoom, straight into SP-404mk2 and work on the samples straight away 😀
That doesn't work, while they are TRS cables it's still a mono input. You still need to plug the left/right channel cables in to both inputs for stereo, though you can "link" them in the Zoom recorder as a stereo track (which will create one stereo wav file instead of two mono ones). But for stereo input it will still take both inputs.
@@vitafloSure, you right. Appreciate it, I didn’t mention it. You will still end up with one, mono track. Although, for example, you won’t miss any panning you did on a SP. As you said - you will link them that way.
I also have the amazing Zoom H5. One thing I do with it is record live events with it using the XY microphones and the XLRs connected to the mixer for a board output. The H5 is a four-channel recorder. However, the one accessory that is a game-changer is the EXH-6 Dual XLR/TRS Capsule. This replaces the XY microphone capsule with two additional XLR/TRS inputs. But there is a 1/8” stereo input on the XY Capsule that bypasses the microphones and this can be used for working with DSLRs and other devices with headphone type outputs.
That’s dope I didn’t know about that attachment! does it record the tracks separate? If that’s the case I could probably pick that up instead of upgrading 👍
@@spvidzit does! 4-track recording. With the XYH-5 capsule the line input is forced stereo. The EXH-6 allows the two inputs to be kept either as stereo or dual-mono just like the built-in inputs.
I have the Zoom H1n / H5 / Tascam DR5 / Tascam DR-70D - I do Field Recording and not used them as a computer interface yet, I will have to give that a go ..... Good video
That's is an awesome device, I just got the Zoom H1n for Christmas and it works great for recording my beats on the sp404mk2 & ep-133 👍
i have a Tascam Dr-40x, and it has a similar function, but those interchangable capsules and rotary knobs do look useful

Very cool man! Great to hear about the different ways people use them 🙌

Interesting, I'll have to check that out properly!
The h2n is my on the move sampler....

a friend of mine recently gave me a tascam one and I've yet to figure out how to use it (workflow wise)

@image66media thanks for the info. Very tempted to get one of those now
I rocked with the H4N for years. Now I just put my son on with. I use the F8 to interface with my MPC Live 2. Zoom make great recorder/interfaces.
mate I got a h2n and I tell myself the same thing. These little things are clutch as hell.
Love your channel cheers.
Sounds like quite a few people have the h2n! The zoom stuff is great 🙌

Nice! They're great little devices! Love my H5
Yes! I have been wanting to know about this so thank you for posting it!
No problem man. Great little bit of kit 👌
I’m wondering if H5 being an external mic with SP404? So I can live record and sample my voice with the 404 Fx
With the right cables I think it would work. It has line-out and headphones out as well
Yesssss! I recently got a Zoom H4n for this, I'll start using it to capture stuff for using on my SP. Really cool tool
Nice! 🙌
Nice video! I have the H6 with the extra capsule that lets me have 6 inputs...its a boss.
Beast! 😂
I basically have no place to record vocals aside from my car, so a device I can just plug a mic into wherever I am really comes in useful.
Cars have pretty nice dampening too which is a bonus 👍
I have the Zoom H2N and h4n. They're really good.
Nice 🔥🔥🔥
awesome video!
🙌🙏
WHAT STAND ARE YOU USING TO RECORD YOUR VIDEOS?
I have a wall mounted bracket
@@spvidz do you have a link where you purchased
i'm still using a h1n for cheap
If it works, it works! 🙌
Damn those covers still suck like h4n. 😂😢 Solid workhorses though.
My Tascam is collecting dust… 🫤 Gotta show it some love again soon.
🙌
