    I remember seeing this for the first time and was so moved not only by the acting but the music that accompanied it as well. Several songs became huge hits... Never understood why the critics were so hard on this picture. It's a beautiful story about family... Can we at least agree that we need more movies like this in our lives right now...... Salute to you Mr.Dimond.

    I grow up with Neil Diamond and the Jazz Singer film. As my mother was a MASSIVE Neil Diamond fan. I have always thought this scene was extremely powerful. It is all about forgiveness and love. Yom Kipper is the day of forgiveness. We should learn to forgive more. Whatever your religion/faith.

    I've heard this many times in shul~but this is the most beautiful version in my book.
    I had to hear this yesterday,as it was Yom Kippur and it brought me back to the
    days when I hear my uncle David,then a Cantor,now a Rabbi sing it.

    • @carminemurray6624
      @carminemurray6624 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once a Cantor, always a Cantor, a Rabbi is still a Cantor.
      Cantor just means singer, even in many other languages.
      Spanish, Cantar is to sing.
      Cantor, singer.

    I'm not Jewish. But, this movie and this scene... powerful! Everybody's voice is so beautiful and then Neil Diamond walks in and carries it to a whole other level. This movie means a lot to me. It doesn't hurt that my father introduced it to me as a kid in the early 80s because of his love of Diamonds music.

    I'm am not jewish, but this scene and the way neil sings it is awesome. I have been in a Jewish church just once and I have to say that the higher ups really knew how to sing. I don't think our pastor at my church can carry a tune, but those I heard could really sing ....like really really good. A joke that i found funny is in highschool my girlfriend (Sarah) was jewish ( I would have married her, she is and always will be my first TRUE love. She past away when she was 25 due to blood clot) when ever one of her family asked if I was jewish I'd say ....well no ...but I did watch the jazz singer with Neil diamond. This made them smile or laugh. Sarahs grandmother said...such a nice boy,....to bad he is not jewish. Lol She did like me I was the only non jewish boy her grandma ever truly liked... cause grandma asked if we had a child would we raise it jewish or christian. I said BOTH. When he or she is 12 they can pick the one that they like.most and just go to one from that time on. but I would celebrate both Jewish and christian holidays equal. She liked that answer...

      Well Jesus was Jewish, and under the New Covenant all being grafted in to the Abrahamic line, everyone is technically Jewish in any case, Welcome to the family.
      Essau voluntarily sold his birthright for a bowl of lentil 🍲 soup and this established a precedent that you can purchase the birthright through an act of loving kindness to others.

      @@carminemurray6624The Christian's bibles are just very badly mistranslated and corrupted versions of the Torah/Tanach (The Real Word of G_d) with a lot changed including names, a whole lot added, and a whole lot taken out. Everything that G_d said not to do, Christianity did! Christianity lies! NO Hebrew/Jew was ever named Jesus, nor John, nor especially James. There is no letter J in the Hebrew alephbet nor does any of the Hebrew letters even make a J sound. Try actually reading the scriptures where G_d gave the Torah and the Commandments to Mosche and the Children/Nation of Israel on Mt. Sinai. G_d specifically told them in no uncertain terms that neither they nor any of their descendents all through time are to Never veer to the right nor left of the Torah/Tanach! Never!!! G_d also told them in no uncertain terms that neither they nor any of their descendents all through time are to Never accept anybody else's religion! Never!!! The One True Creator G_d also warned not to add to, nor subtract from the Torah/Tanach, but Christianity did it anyway. Christianity adopted way too many idolatrous and pagan beliefs contrary to what The One True Creator G_d actually said.
