Because of that, I think the 11 inch just makes more sense for 99% of people. It’s much better at being a tablet compared to the 13 inch, plus its way cheaper

Thanks for the video!! One thing I would say about the editing is when your lettering appear behind you, it dont show the text once, to fix this i recomend you make a movement keyframe of Y position, to show the leeting entrance then return your position to standard place. Other than that the video is amazing!!! Still S9 Ultra is better!
Amazing review…as someone who abandoned Mac laptops many years ago and only use desktops (Studio and TrashCan) upgrading from my 2018 has been amazing, speed ram management and how much I enjoy iPad as a tablet is another amazing companion but an expensive one. Air is the way to go and even the m1 air. Thinking about getting one for the office
Thank you so much for talking about these issues with iPados, like no one ever discusses this like you are. Like it feels apple needs to justify the price so they release half baked software as a 'feature'. Samsung Dex seems like the better option and samsung tabs come with the pen included and has micro sd card for expandable storage, sure the ipad has power due to the m4 but it doesn't make sense with the lacking os
I’d say this review is very short sighted, and compares iPad in computing tasks that macs are supposed to deliver. Try doing it the other way around, and consider professional use cases for artists, writers, or designers. A mac is simply less useful for me as a writer because it doesn’t allow handwriting input when I need to. Mind mapping is less functional without a pencil/stylus. And professional writing softwares such as Ulysses are pretty much similar across mac and iPad.
I completely agree with this video. I've been trying to figure out how to use my iPad M1 as a "laptop replacement" but as Ella said, power users will not enjoy the experience. Even official apps for productivity such as MS Office, Canva and the like, offer features that barely scratch the surface of what you can do on a full fledged laptop (Mac or Windows regardless). Refreshing to hear an on-point review for once. Thanks Ella!
You are missing out the m4 ipad, i genuinely think it is worth it. Almost no heat, deep black screen, good battery, powerful, and fully replace my work mbp. Unless you are video editor ipad pro m4 absolutely worth it and can be your only device for all your work or study purposes. For those apps you can use word apps from apple, canva is available on ipad aswell. Photo editing with this is good. Light video editing without much effect or complex structure timeline is good aswell.
Your example with the TH-cam app is 💯 and I felt that. I also noticed that the ESC key basically does nothing, you can't use it to stop full screen TH-cam, or much of anything else. iPad is great for iPad stuff, with touch screen. Keyboard is only for people that want to type up a lot of emails or work on Pages.
Upgraded from 9.5’ iPad Pro to m4 13’ received $135 as a trade in through apple. It was working fine but battery was not doing too well also selling my 2017 iPad Air which is getting old. Replacing two items. One to carry around for entertainment and playing with photos.
I believe the 120hz mode for Safari is something turned off by default (likely for power consumption). These iPad Pros have a number of ideal use cases. For children, even, they’re fantastic. FaceID is seamless, you can control what they access easily, and they seemingly last forever while playing games really well.
Thanks for the video. I learned about your channel when I was deciding whether to switch to the iPhone from Android, and you convinced me that I should give it a try. Since then I've been buying an iPad, MacBook, Apple Watch, Airpods, etc... 💸💸
TL;DR to my longer comment - this ipad is not a good computer, but it is a fun piece of tech. The 11 inch ipad is the perfect size in my opinion, and now that it also has the best screen, I wouldn’t get anything else. It’s just fun to watch content on, and to draw on and share. It’s kind of like a really expensive toy. Never replacing my computer, but it’s nice as a companion !!
Yeah, I purchased ipad pro 11 inch thinking it will be more portable and convenience. Turns out I always come back to laptop for convenience. Ipad now become an accessory and only sometime useful when Im not working at home. I prefer laptop even when I'm outside
I have literally all of the same frustrations as you LOL I felt very seen by this video. I got the 11 inch instead of the 13 inch, and finally sprung for an iPad because the smaller ipad pro got a good screen at long last. There was no way I was ever going to buy a big ipad. I agree w/ all the complaints, but I feel the biggest thing about this ipad that I know I wouldn’t get if i spent the same on the macbook is fun. There’s no way around it, this is the most fun product. It is not the most practical product at all. But me and my partner have fun drawing on it. It’s really fun to watch content on, the screen is drop dead gorgeous and it’s in a great size. It’s much easier to just pick up and use for a quick task compared to even my 13 inch macbook air. This screen is basically just a bigger version of my iPhone screen but that’s why I love it! It’s much easier to see and enjoy, i love my iphone screen and I’ve always wanted to watch movies on it but even the max is tiny for such a task. This is great! Everyone always says that the older iPad has essentially the same screen but that’s only true for the bigger model! I feel like this is the best screen you can really get on an ipad at this size, and I think that plus the novelty and the fun factor of it is nice. But hey, maybe after a month it’ll wear off and I’ll stop using it much. But for now, I’m enjoying it!
I’m going to keep it 100 a student using over a regular iPad or air is wild NGL I’m struggling to see how that would be a good ROI. The Mac book air argument as well. Apple strikes me to be like Porsche the 911 looks and is great and most people will be in awe but a 911 turbo S can be right next to you looking roughly the same but cost double the money. It only exists for people who want a tax write off or love to track. At 2000 for a iPad 11 with nano screen. I can’t say many people would need that ❤
The main problem I’m having with my m4 iPad Pro atm is how hot it’s getting when I’m working. I use procreate for my work and I’m finding it is running so hot that it’s hurting my hand. It even started freezing the other day it got so hot. I don’t know if anyone else is having this issue but my old iPad Air 4 didn’t have this problem
Thank you for sharing your latest findings, it's 1st time for me to come across heat dissipation issue found on m4 ipad pro tablets... so physics is physics, when heat can't be dissipated away from processors fast enough, thermal throttle happens... so this isn't limited to CISC architecture based CPUs, and it even happens to M4 processor... thx.. hope you'll be able to find a solution to work around this overheating issue... all the best...
My take on this review is that it goes around the idea of having an iPad as 'a single all purposes one device' replacing a computer entirely. It certainly has a screen big enough for it, as well as the processing power along with its price tag. But that's not how I see tablets. I believe that's not the vast majority of iPad users see them. Since iPad introduction, a new market was born and it has a healthy rich environment full of specific designed apps for the platform both for work and fun. We shouldn't expect to find them and work with them out of the iPad, not it would be a better experience. This iPad Pro is about the best tablet experience possible. Not about replacing your personal computer. At least that's how I see it.
Exactly, I 💯 ageee with you. When I was in school , I needed a computer because majority of the apps run better on a computer. I always thought of a tablet more of a multimedia device than a computer.
My use case is as follows: I work for a a corporation in a highly regulated industry. I use it for 85% of my work tasks. I consume a lot of content. Email, power points etc. I do create content but TBH i usually create outlines and give most of what I do to analysts and others to then into PowerPoints etc. So always on, and no vpn is great. But I have an M1 iPad Pro and will see how it reacts iOS 18. I would love the better keyboard, screen and lighter footprint but I’m not sure that I need to shell out 2k for that right now. Down the road as the M1 bogs down, I’ll replace it.
I wonder, which would be better for students? a 256gb 11inch iPad Pro M2 or a 256gb 11inch iPad Pro M4 considering that the M4 is $100 more expensive compared to the M2?
@@mythicalism1468 That's actually what I currently have and I'm not a big fan of how the keyboard feels, so I'm switching over the magic keyboard. I just returned the new one and got the old one instead
this ipad has a great screen, but does it affect your eyes? what is your experience with it? i'm going to buy one for myself, but i'm a little worried about the PWM
I think that's the point with Apple not adding pro features that everyone keeps asking for. You still have to buy a Mac to fully utilize pro apps and have a desktop experience. It's really sad because it's the reason I'm going to be getting the new Surface Pro. I want an all-in-one device and now that they're ARM based with good performance we have a decent option. For tablet use I'll stick to my M1 iPad Air.
There’s a small mistake in the video. The Mini-LED iPad Pro can only reach 600 nits in SDR, whereas the OLED iPad Pro can achieve 1000 nits in SDR. This is a slight difference from what was presented in the video. However, both can reach 1000 nits in HDR full screen.
And nooooo one commented that the browsing web is limited at the 60Hz on ipad pro……. I am pissed off! I ALMOST buy an ipad pro m2 and loose the new apple pencil pro feature that is so more nice for me that will buy my first ipad to change for a digital notaking, because i was listening that blablabla of 60Hz and face ID… oooh cool that you don’t have to move your finger to turn on you tablet but still needed that to open or close something in the apps of this tablet because the cursor does not work properly 🙄
It’s just a big phone, but I like that way. To do research on the couch and get a bit more work done than a smartphone. The older iPads are more worth the money
I have an M2 iPad Pro & want the new M4 only for the landscape camera, the thinness & new features in the Pencil Pro, as I’m just getting into digital art… but I don’t really feel like those things are worth the upgrade, even if I trade my current iPad in 🤔 I feel like Apple’s been doing the bare minimum for a while now & it’s getting harder & harder to want to keep up with their tech. I just graduated with a degree in Computer Information Systems & love to have (& professionally benefit) with keeping up with new tech & I just am so torn because it just doesn’t feel worth it… 😕 Also, I’ll trade off the thinness for better battery any day. Having it be lighter is nice, but being able to use it longer is way better, imo 🤷🏽♀️
I agree, once I got my m1 14” macbook a long time ago I used my ipad less and less. I have my 2018 ipad pro, and still I don’t see any reason to upgrade 😅
Actually, davinci resolve is completely unlocked. You just need to use your keyboard to set up quick keys, then you can access the other 90% of it. It can even generate proxies and everything.
I think M2 iPad Air 13 inch is best iPad for students like me who wants big screen and the new apple pencil The M4 iPad pro is kinda waste of money for iPad OS
Correction: mini led did NOT necessarily have the same brightness as the m4 it only did 600 in sdr while M4 does 1000 which is what most people will be using.
I'd say the iPad Air is more worthy or even the older pros (depends if you want Pencil Pro or extra cameras) Or just any Android tablet. If it's going to be JUST a tablet.
If I can give constructive feedback here: in terms of iPad security you should set up your passcode to unlock your iPad to be alphanumeric passcode Your iPhone too but this is an iPad video
Couldn’t agree more with this review. As a professional developer, the iPad Pro has nothing for me in terms of Pro workflows. Which is sad. Give me an option to boot into macOS on the Pro and I would be all in on the device. Unfortunately, since that is not the case, I’ve opted for the iPad Air and even that is kind of a luxury purchase. Apple needs to stop hamstringing the iPad and let it reach its full potential.
I have a iPad mini 6 for note taking and the OS experience is exactly the same as the new iPad Pros, maybe except the external display support. Still, I won't be upgrading anytime zoom
you brought really good points! if we could have something like Samsung DEX, that would be so great!! but probably apple wont do it as it would cannibalize mac profits
If I wasn't an iOS Engineer and I had to buy it for development purposes. I would just go and buy a Samsung Tab. It's an awesome bundle of software and hardware and overall cross compatibility. And it's more friendly.
Ipad m4. It is good machine and the temperature is great, you won’t find device this cool without fan. Samsung is prone to heat. Plus if you are student the documents scanner with lidar is really useful.

I just switched from my MBPro to ipad pro m4. It is the perfect device for me. 11inch is perfect.
Very excellent job, you checkmark all the important aspects that other ytbrs don't cover!
5 Stars worth video 👍🏾
这集Ella真的自己都讲high了,隔着屏幕都能感受到的热情,very convincing!👋
5:54 那句5年定论真的扎心了
I believe the 120hz mode for Safari is something turned off by default (likely for power consumption).
These iPad Pros have a number of ideal use cases. For children, even, they’re fantastic. FaceID is seamless, you can control what they access easily, and they seemingly last forever while playing games really well.
Your honest review about the negative side of iPad pro makes me subscribing to your channel. :)
Thanks for the video. I learned about your channel when I was deciding whether to switch to the iPhone from Android, and you convinced me that I should give it a try. Since then I've been buying an iPad, MacBook, Apple Watch, Airpods, etc... 💸💸
Ela no one thought this were perfect gurl
A bit like your English
Thanks for the honest review.
Both ladies do their research. They both give accurate information about the iPad I just got the iPad Pro M4 It is extremely thin but I love it
TL;DR to my longer comment - this ipad is not a good computer, but it is a fun piece of tech.
I love your videos, fun and informative. Please keep doing them.🎉
Fantastic review!!!! Concise and well thought out. 🌟
Good review. It's frustrating how the charge so much for ipads yet so many basic features are missing.
Isn't the front camera a different location? Along the long side of the ipad so making the facetime/ zoom more optimal?
This will never replace your laptop
Its more like a travel or outdoor laptop
Because ipados has so many limitations 😢
Excellent review with excellent editing. I agree with all points made.
Wish I saw your video before I bought my IPad Pro m4.
I can’t say many people would need that ❤
Love the honesty, great review Ella!
The Safari is definitely churning on 120hz on this iPad. This is the smoothest I have seen web pages just flow.
I wonder, which would be better for students? a 256gb 11inch iPad Pro M2 or a 256gb 11inch iPad Pro M4 considering that the M4 is $100 more expensive compared to the M2?
I literally can't hear you half the time 😞
I'm still so sad that the latest magic keyboard only works with the latest iPad :( I need that function row!
I recommend a Logitech combo touch
@@mythicalism1468 That's actually what I currently have and I'm not a big fan of how the keyboard feels, so I'm switching over the magic keyboard. I just returned the new one and got the old one instead
Love your videos. Keep it up!
Can’t you use the “wasted potential” title for all Apple products though?
The new surface really does look great security issues aside.
I love Dex but we need davjnci resolve there.
Great review! Love the improvements in production quality and presentation 🎉
thanks so much!
Pretty nice and indepth review 👌🏾
this ipad has a great screen, but does it affect your eyes? what is your experience with it? i'm going to buy one for myself, but i'm a little worried about the PWM
I’m watching this on my iPad Pro 1st gen (2015)
There’s a small mistake in the video. The Mini-LED iPad Pro can only reach 600 nits in SDR, whereas the OLED iPad Pro can achieve 1000 nits in SDR. This is a slight difference from what was presented in the video. However, both can reach 1000 nits in HDR full screen.
Have been waiting for your review… thank you very much!
Finally, HONEST HONEST HONEST REVIEW!
Thank you for your honesty and presentation.
I just graduated with a degree in Computer Information Systems & love to have (& professionally benefit) with keeping up with new tech & I just am so torn because it just doesn’t feel worth it… 😕
Also, I’ll trade off the thinness for better battery any day. Having it be lighter is nice, but being able to use it longer is way better, imo 🤷🏽♀️
9:29 just zoom in to fill most of the subject is within 4:3 weeks grew up with 4:3 and no problem lol
Works with usbc pencil as well
I agree, once I got my m1 14” macbook a long time ago I used my ipad less and less.
I have my 2018 ipad pro, and still I don’t see any reason to upgrade 😅
Actually, davinci resolve is completely unlocked. You just need to use your keyboard to set up quick keys, then you can access the other 90% of it. It can even generate proxies and everything.
I think M2 iPad Air 13 inch is best iPad for students like me who wants big screen and the new apple pencil
The M4 iPad pro is kinda waste of money for iPad OS
How does iPad's Stage Manager experience compare to Dex on Samsung Tab's, when you want to do multi-tasking and such 🤔
Correction: mini led did NOT necessarily have the same brightness as the m4 it only did 600 in sdr while M4 does 1000 which is what most people will be using.
I'd say the iPad Air is more worthy or even the older pros (depends if you want Pencil Pro or extra cameras)
Or just any Android tablet. If it's going to be JUST a tablet.
Thank you for being honest and impartial. Especially with all the hype Apple generates for its products.
Great video! Probably still keeping my 11 inch m1 😅
My Hardcore Apple worshipping friend does not understand the Negative points of iPad M4 😂
Most helpful vid for ipad pro m4 chip
the difference between the mac and ipad versions of microsoft office is another reason why i’ll never see the ipad as a computer replacement
Well done! Great review!
Finally, i used to play HP quidditch so much on thr ps2... though the art style is perculiar as if its a mobile game compared to Hogwarts Legacy
Nah I use clip studio paint and it does need the power of the m4 chip. Especially working with vector layer
If I can give constructive feedback here: in terms of iPad security you should set up your passcode to unlock your iPad to be alphanumeric passcode
Your iPhone too but this is an iPad video
Thorough and knowledgeable 👍
you brought really good points! if we could have something like Samsung DEX, that would be so great!! but probably apple wont do it as it would cannibalize mac profits
If I wasn't an iOS Engineer and I had to buy it for development purposes. I would just go and buy a Samsung Tab. It's an awesome bundle of software and hardware and overall cross compatibility. And it's more friendly.
Please I'm confused between the Samsung tab S9 and the IPad pro M4.
Please which one should i get?
Ipad m4. It is good machine and the temperature is great, you won’t find device this cool without fan. Samsung is prone to heat. Plus if you are student the documents scanner with lidar is really useful.
@@MaverickSmasher thanks a lot, I'm satisfied with your reply 👍
Great work as always Ella! Being a student myself, your insights into the functionality of the tech from students perspective is always helpful! At "09:30" , just want to mention that the M4 ipad is compatible with the last gen apple pencil but the apple pencil pro is not compatible with the last gen ipads.
In short, just buy Macbook as the main productivity device and supported by iPad air is more than enough
