If you're not concerned about magnification then why use binoculars? Your own eyes have a huge field of view.
A good pair of sunglasses is really all you need.

I carry the 12's and that's the only piece of glass I need. Use to carry 15 slc and 8's. With the bigger fov on the NL 12's, I feel like I can handhold the 12's no problem.

Do you use the 12x42 also in the woods? Not too dark? Too much mag?
Not cocky at all. Just an honest review. I think higher magnification binoculars sell so well because inexperienced people are buying them not knowing what it is that they lose choosing higher power over lower power.
Thanks for the comment! It's all subjective, but it seems these days that glass quality is making high magnification less of a factor for some folks.

I am considering a larger mag als extra bino.
Do you recommend 10x32 or 12x42?
I have had the 8x42. The headrest works great and makes me seriously consider to choose the 10x if I get this binocular again. The headrest makes 8x stable as normally 6x, and 10x will be similar to normally 8x.
This optic has really challenged some notions regarding magnification!
How would you compare the dusk and dawn light gathering (NL 42MM Objective) compared to the 50mm objectives on the EL?
I also agree FOV is important, meaning you catch more movement in game. But kind of disagree on power selection, meaning there's a difference between hill side woods and hillside desert hunting 🤔 The desert "grey Ghost" is a different animal!
Hey Robert! All Ryan hunts is coues deer, so that's what his opinion is based on. As far as light gathering, it's very tough for anybody here to tell the difference.

I am selling my 15’s and looking between the 10’s & 12’s. If I don’t have a spotter should I get the 12’s or do you still recommend the 10’s. Great review man
Hey Max. Ryan says he still thinks the 10s are the ticket, but the 12s are great if you're going to need that extra magnification (ie: glassing over 1000 yards). The good news is it's real hard to go wrong here 👍
12s I can do anything with cause I was use to my 15s. 12s and btxs I’m never buying any glass again
For me, 8X for low light
Debating between 10x42 amd 12x42 for birding. Fov doesnt mean anything to me, already know general location of bird i want to look at but i want to be able to identify them better. Also i wamt to be able to identify and track them while they are flying. Is 12x too much for that to do handheld?
In your case, between those two, I'd go with the 10x42. For tracking a moving bird, I would highly encourage you to check out an 8x or even an 8/10x32 and get one in your hands. The clarity of these optics really changes your understanding of magnification. The 12x42 is excellent, but it's field of view seems to shine at longer ranges (500 yd+).
Field of view probably has the biggest effect on tracking a moving object. More FOV = less chance of an animal escaping it, and the more perceived stability you'll have. Thanks for the question!
I'm looking at buying nl pures for birdwatching. My go-to is usually a 8x32mm, plus I have a spotting scope sometimes. Do u lose much brightness between the nl pure 32mm vs 42mm? Thanks

@@Outdoorsmans thanks for the info, what about the 8x32 vs the 10x32? Is the 8x much brighter? I usually prefer 8x but I have heard some people say the 10x32 is pretty stable?
The 10x32 is still extremely stable. For reference, even the 12x42 is very easy to hand hold. The 10x32 would be my choice in your case. Brightness is excellent throughout the range!

8x32 vs 8x42?
It's closer than it should be between these two. Dusk/dawn = 42 has the edge. The 32 is crazy good for how tiny it is. For archery hunting or glassing
What about diameter, 42 or 50? 😮
The NL Pure only comes in 32 and 42 😬

yup, 8s and the new swaro 17-40 x56 spotter will do the trick ( really don't need the spotter, but holly crap, it does look sweet .....
