hazbin hotel is an adult animated musical web series created by vivziepop, who is also the mind behind helluva boss. the series follows charlie, the princess of hell, as she tries to rehabilitate demons to reduce overpopulation. the show has gained a large online following the released pilot on youtube. angel dust is a spider demon and a former pornographic actor who in hell after overdosing. angel dust is known for his flamboyant personality and often acts as comic relief in the series. the character has gained infamy with his overtly lewd gestures and comments.
hotel mario is a puzzle video game developed by philips and released for the cd-i in 1994. players control mario as he navigates through hotels and closes doors to progress through each level. it received popular online status due to its low quality cutscenes and has been heavily remixed in youtube poops since the early days of youtube.

To be honest Mario's verses were very mid.
Angel's were also mid.
But he actually got some disses, which is pretty disappointing, considering Mario had so much to diss.

I think this may be the first Mario battle to use the Hotel Mario version of Mario's voice rather than Charles Martinet's voice as the basis for their Mario Voice. It's really interesting to think that those Phillips CDI games don't have more Rap Battles based upon them. Or battles based upon other YTP sources, like the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog Cartoon or the Super Mario Super Show. I mean, they could be used in less serious battles which focus more on Comedy rather than seriousness. I've been thinking of some matchups. Like Robotnik (AoStH) vs Heavy (TF2). You know, Pingas vs Pootis. A joke matchup.
If you want this Mario rapping in another battle, check out Superman 64 vs Big Rigs by Gaming All Star Rap Battles, he raps for a bit in it alongside other CDI characters and had my favorite verse in it, the empressions and lyrics were on point just like in this one.

This silly joke battle was what got me to check out the rest of your stuff, so thank the lord for this battle.
First of all, this battle is absolutely hilarious. The way RecD delivers some of the lines get me dying. All of the references to memes (like Angel's first verse's finisher) and such were also hilarious. The cast is godlike, the writing is amazing, wow, such a shocker (not)! And the editing is some of the best I've seen in any rap battles, you literally made it seem like the things they say were in the actually in the source material. Another hit from GamingPlush! Keep up the great work (also this battle has the Toy Freddy vs Jerry situation, a joke battle being outstanding. Speaking of which, Toy Freddy vs Jerry 2 when?)

Yeah a pretty solid April Fools battle. I will say Angel's wordplay and overall writing was better especially that sheets scheme in his 1st, but Mario just had too many quotes to use as shots and that hooker bar was an OUT THE GATE punch. The toaster power was also another good one. Angel's 2nd had a lot of good points like the contract with Sony and how the console Hotel Mario was on no longer sells, but the rebuttal of Hazbin Hotel's humor and it being in the shadow of Helluva Boss (I don't watch either show so please tell me if this is accurate), and pilot bar sold the W for Hotel Mario.
Yeah, Hazbin kind of has been in the shadow of Helluva boss. However, I think this is mainly due to the way they've been released. Hazbin Hotel was a pilot, and while waiting for it to be picked up by an actual studio (it now has and we should expect the series to come soon) Vivziepop made Helluva Boss. So the main reason for that is that Helluva Boss got more content released (an actual series) and thus had more opportunity for exposure
