_"Japanese folklore also says Tanookis use leaves to transform..."_
Is this why a leaf appears in various Mario games that transforms Super Mario into a Tanooki? Interesting.
Yep, spot on!
Nintendo does provide some japanese references in games. So probably
YES
just hearing jon's voice is enough to make my day.
yeah, anyone that knows Jon in a friend capacity is one lucky duck X.x

Mr. Resetti's surveillance center? Wow, these games are so realistic that they even have their own NSA!
To be fair, Every super power in the history of the world has had it's own secret police.
Mr. Resetti is the secret police for Nintendo.
Over 300 villagers... still gets Goldie from the start 4 games in a row lol
+EMandarins I love Goldie tho XD
Ah I know how you feel. I got Buck and Angus so many times when rebuilding Wild World towns...
I got Grizzly on the GC Animal Crossing and then got him again in City Folk
Did you get her this time again?
I got Yuka for the 4th time. That bi***
I want Jon to say Totakeke forever and ever.
Did you know that in the Australian and other areas port of animal crossing-city folk, if mr. Ressetti talks to you 49 times for resetting, and you do it a 50th time, he will delete your save data. You lucky, lucky, Americans.
Oh my god, that seems like an unessesary punishment. The only bad thing in the European English Animal Crossing is that Let's go to the City is a mouthful compared to City Folk.
Well.. I guess you'd better think about saving huh?
This doesn't sound legit. Could you upload a video showcasing it?
i do not own a wii, or the game for that matter.
just look at chugga crossing's animal crossing walkthrough.
That sounds specific to something I dealt with on the GameCube animal crossing. I happen to be from the states and when I was 7 I was getting so irritated by that flippin' mole that i purposely kept resetting to glitch the game. at one point, Ressetti was writhing is rage that he states this, "YOU HAVE REALLY DONE IT THIS TIME! YOU RESETTING CHEATER! I will make your game go Bye-bye!" and the game would go directly to the Nintendo screen. you tried to log into the game and it is Majora's mask De' javu all over again. at that point I lost so much faith in the series until I got Animal Crossing Wild World on the DS.
I'm kinda disappoint that they forgot to point out that Gulliver also says things about rogueport and bomberey from the Thousand Year Door.
*Bobbery
I can't help but point out the errors starting at 2:30. You're going to want to use combinatorics to figure out the probability. There are 218 choices, and 6 are being randomly chosen. 218! / (212! * 6!) = 139,081,484,934. Therefore, the chance of two games having the same characters are 1 in 139,081,484,934, and i'm not going to bother converting that to a percent since it is astronomically small. If New Leaf also uses 6 characters, and there are 333 choices, then 333! / (327! * 6!) = 1,809,928,822,548, so the chance of two games having the same characters are 1 in 1,809,928,822,548.
Isn't it just 6 divided by 218?
Marcus Sowinski No, a combination lets you find all the different ways a group of items can be chosen. This is method is often seen in marketing, such as when a fast food restaurant advertises the number of ways to make a burger king whopper, or something like a chipotle burrito. To find the probability of two people having the same result, you find the number of combinations possible, and then divide 1 by the answer, since 1 represent an arbitrary combination that is already present in the total number of combinations.
Marcus Sowinski
if only it were that simple. back in my day, we only had addition and subtraction and we made due.
Thomas Jenkins heh
Yeah, but didn't he mean 6 *unique* characters?
Gulliver also mentions Bobbery from Rougeport which is a reference to Paper Mario Thousand Year Door in New Leaf.
Look Mr. Resetti is probably the sole reason i remember to save regularly, if it makes a child a little upset then they won't do it again I don't think its harmful that is how people learn.
Negative reinforcement doesn't work for everyone. Take the example of someone who has a lack of electrical current in their brain, and thanks to that, they can't learn from mistakes well. Authority is usually something people listen to, which is why Resetti comes in handy, since he comes off as an authoritive figure.
Besides he teches a little more than that. He says that in real life you can't just turn off and try again, you have to face the consequences of your actions.
hes kind of scary to me expecially when i was 8 and watched zack scott play it
he made so many animal crossing videos i think 5-10 per week
@@hamsandwich9162 what a pussy
I dunno, all resetti did for me was scare the piss out of me when I stayed up too late. I didn't really learn anything from him, but I guess it's just because I already knew to save the game.
2:08 This is why we love jontron
Also totakeke is the real name of K K sliders (which is a nickname actually) in the US and euro version, he tells you.
Interesting, I thought Totakeke was some kind of translation for K K Slider.
MoonTheLoo Hey. Totakeke?
Totake
Totaka
Totaka's Song
:D
I’d have to check again, but iirc, that’s his name in my GameCube game (Canada). When I saw the name KK Slider on the internet a couple years later, I had no idea who this was.
I was half expecting Chugga to be the host for this episode, since he's doing a playtrough of New Leaf
Snake was in my town in New Leaf for a while. We were like brothers.
Then one day he got up and left. When I realized he was leaving it was too late. He had already gone. So I crawled into a coffee mug and I've been there ever since.
Yup. The coffee is cold and doesn't taste all that great anymore.
AldentheBlue Have you tried putting it in a microwave?
Yeah, but it still tastes terrible and the mug gets too hot.
Why haven't I just made a new cup of coffee?
Yeah.
It's funny how attached to NPC villagers you can get.
I was like 7 when I played Wild World and saw Mr. Resseti and wasn't scared just annoyed.
heheheheh, 7 asses
they might wanna change the outro considering it has been more than a year since the youtube layout was that style
How dare you disrespect DYKG? Fuck you. Fuck your shit.
***** I was about to mute you, but I can't mute a doctor.
You would regret it, honey.
Those were the days
Actually it's been less than a year. TH-cam introduced the One Channel layout as an option last February, and it became mandatory in June.
I'm sorry, but if Resetti made your child cry, you should probably get them off the video games for a few years because they're to much of a baby for them.
When I was younger I played wild world and when ever he asked me to do the thing to make him leave it always was wrong. I ended up trowing a fit cause I was so frustrated with it 😅
K.K. Slider's got the real beats.
Mr. Ressetti made me cry once as a kid... Not because he was angry, but because one time I quit the game to revert a roof paintjob my villager thought I would like without my permission. when I loaded back into the game Mr Ressetti was so upset from previos restarts he said "Thats it, im done, your game data is going to be deleted now" and the screen suddenly went black. I ran around the house crying for a good couple minutes. When I came back in the room he was back on the screen and said "Haha, got you for a second didnt I?"... to this day I have not forgiven him and He remains jobless in new leaf.
I think he pulled that on me once, too. I got just as understandably mad...
"The Resetti Survielance Center may be found in the city." Do you mean the "RE-CITY?"
*ba-dum tss*
*Insert canned laughter here*
No
Genius
*>:(*
I understand why people don't like Resetti, he is a bit rude. But i also understand why he IS a bit rude. He gets angry because some people never listen to him. I would be hella annoyed if i told my friend to stop doing something if he ignored me and kept doing it. That's only one of the reasons of why i love Resetti. (The other reasons is that he has an awesome personality and that he is adorbs :3)
LOL JUST LOL
SuperDeath90000 X3 But srsly i adore him :P
i never had any problems with resetti probably cause i save alot so i never have to
worry about him poping up and bugging me
***** I always save too but once i reset just because i wanted to see him :3 I also met him because i simply forgot to save. I got so angry, but still happy. :c
catcakey in animal crossing new leaf i found out the resetti lost his job thats why you have a choice to build his save center. cause i like resetti i built he save center and gave his job back :)
Hey, I had Roscoe in my town in New Leaf! :D It was cool since "Roscoe" was my childhood nickname. ^^;;
Anyway, Animal Crossing has always been one of my more beloved game series, ever since the original GameCube one. So many memories...
I remember Mr. Resetti scaring the life out of me, I didn't play Video Games in a month and I've never played an Animal Crossing game since the incident.
What happened to the 10-15 second intro for the games? I always liked that.
It's part 2 though?
I thought about that. It's still nice to be eased into the video.
lol Mr Resetti makes children cry .
Why was Jesus fighting an angry ninetails?
Resetti is not scary at ALL.
Nah, just repetitive. I always hated having to sit through his lectures.
John Crum if it wasn't for Resetti I wouldn't have been prepared for college!
Heh!Chris Egan
I hate him... When I played wild world he'd just go on and on and ONNNNN... I was only four! And I hated a cartoon groundhog... I still do to this day.
Bella Testerman
I always hated sitting through Tom Nook's dialog. He wasn't anywhere near as brusque, of course, but man could he drone on.
Need more JonTron in my life.
LOL I just imagined, what if all the furniture really are leaves? Your house is just full of leaves! HAHAHAHAHA Amazing
Dont ruin it
So foxes are mischievious, according to the Japenese...........................I'm telling Fox Mcloud.
don't forget foxy the pirate!
Supa' Spider I knew that would be coming.....
Or Tails now that we're at it
Well, there is Redd Fox, Mr Fox, Disney's Robin Hood, etc, I don't have many of them in my mind right now :B
That's the one I said x'D
JonTron *and* Animal Crossing? The best combination I've seen in ages.
Did you know, in animal crossing for the gamecube, if you shut down your game while on the train to another players world, your characters eyes will turn into black dots until you reset again.
(This is what i remember from playing the game when i was a kid.)
I remember that. it scared the sh*t outa me
Goldmario5 Gyroid face. ._.
Goldmario5 it Must of scared every kid that did it.
I havent tried it in a while and just now realized it is xD
Is there a video of this? If so can you put a link for me i really want to this :D
I knew gaming
Did you know? 6 variations of Totaka's Song exist in New Leaf.
- K.K. Slider's Acoustic performance on Saturdays
- DJ K.K.'s chiptune performances
- DJ K.K.'s standard performances
- The Song playable on home players
- The music box version
- Kapp'n's whistling when travelling to the wifi island.
5 of the variations you listed are common, the only one that all others don't have, is Kapp'n's lagger song.
Mason Simmons
I think you missed the point of my post entirely.
No I did not. Not that your point sticks out.. Anyone with a good brain, i.e. few of people on the Internet, could figure that out anyways.
Mason Simmons
Dude they're just meant to be facts of interest even if they're not necessarily that hard to discover. It's just kinda significant that Totaka's song happens to appear this many times in a single game.
thanls for using my video footage of resetti's home
DYK the "Tales of" series!
I hope our dream becomes a reality. xD
I remember when I got Animal Crossing Wild World at 6. I had no idea what to expect from the game (or how to save), so at my, like, 5th time not saving Resetti tells me that I had to repeat phrases exactly down to punctuation. I remember becoming extremely frustrated and asking my my mom for help. She was able to do it, but when she got it, she said he was verbally abusive!
The language of Resetti had no effect on me, but then again I was the one to enter in 'Ass' as one of the animal's catchphrases...
***** lol
hahaha
Ah, Wild World came out when you were six? That makes me feel old. ;_; How old are you now if you don't mind my asking? XD
ah... 13 1/2
04:35 look who resetti is talking to. Don't piss of the villager that was in smash.
+TheAngrierBirds No.
Oh snap.
+TheAngrierBirds Actually, that particular appearance is more or less him going "Thanks for getting City Folk. I see that you've saved your game before quitting. That's good. i like that. Just remember to do that, when you're done playing, alright? Later."
Resetti's tone REALLY changes in New Leaf. When he pops up, you get a choice of what your excuse is. If you say you had no choice, or that you ran out of batteries, he'll actually sympathize with you. On top of that, after the first time, he won't pop up again. Instead, Isabelle would just be like "Oh! You didn't save! Let's hope you remember, now, okay? Take care!"
***** Actually, that's only if you decide to NOT install the Reset Surveillance Center.
EDIT: I was referring to " On top of that, after the first time, he won't pop up again. Instead, Isabelle would just be like 'Oh! You didn't save! Let's hope you remember, now, okay? Take care!' "
ACCFMii1
I know that much. Even on top of that, Resetti still gives you those three options for an excuse, from what I've heard.
To add to the Gulliver Ninteno references, in one of the encounters Gulliver recalls how he once met "Admiral Bobbery," who is one of the partner characters in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
Still disappoint that they left that out.
When I was younger I remember being scared of Mr. Resetti and always made sure to save because I didn't want to see him. I would always tell my siblings and friends to save because of him.
I loved Recettie, I would purposely reset the game just to see what he says, honestly though, while a little humorous, he is also a little condescending....
Kacilyn Cat
MY GOD THAT WAS HORRIBLE
all the low percents for same villagers to spawn and i still got them a lot.
I love the Japanese folklore references.
Also, the Monty python thing was neat.
Ps. Totaka is an awesome composer.
And him having a connection to KK Slider and vice versa makes it cooler (since he voiced KK too)
I LOVE Did You know gaming! I so wish it was a TV series or at the very least a weekly web series
JonTron, I guarantee you that Proto Man was indeed NOT the photographer in Earthbound.
Is anyone else SUPER excited about the Animal Crossing Villager to be in Super Smash Bros.?
Yes. He was on my wish list and also, Sakurai said that he was suppose to be in Brawl but he didn't got his moveset ready.
A small note I want to point out about the totaka song in new leaf. There's actually two ways to get it, the first way being the one mentioned in this video. The second one being that if you go into club lol, there is a random song that will play and the first few notes are totakas song. I didn't record it and I don't know if there's any footage of it online, but it is in the game.
Characters name is Snake. Obviously a Metal Gear reference. Lol c'mon guys.
He said that.
or Snake Plissken
did you see the boxes?
***** lol, that wasnt intended to be a reference. They were just there because snake was moving in :)
3:12 - is that supposed to be Finn from Adventure Time?
Finn's hat has smaller ears with less detail.
It's a bunny cap. There are pink holes for the ears at the front, but you can't see them with this angle.
RIP DYKG, it was a fun ride . .
Can't wait for the outtakes!
DYK gaming should do more Easter eggs. They are always funny and interesting, not saying this kind isn't, this is what the channel is about. I just really enjoy the Easter eggs.
I don't want to be an ass, but crying because of a Resetti lecture? Those kids won't have an easy life...
El Ole Sure, but the only intimidating thing about Resetti would be the length of his speeches, there isn't even a change in tone, the screaming is shown by capitalizing the letters. I can't even think of anything that's just as harmless to draw a comparison.
***** I remember how it was to be 5. I'd cry when somebody took my favorite toy, but this is a virtual character giving you a verbal lecture which you have to read on your own. That's no reason to start crying.
***** I know that there are exceptions, but there were enough cases for Nintendo to add a warning.
I don't remember ever crying because of him, but I do remember having reset too many times in the original and him saying: "That's It! I'M RESETTIN' YOU FOR GOOD!", or sumfin like that, and me, breaking out into a sweat, screaming "NO!" and slamming the power button on the game cube. I walked away from the game for a while after that.
Yes, small children crying at weird things at a very early age possibly before they've even developed concrete faculties is truly telling of their later difficulties.
Fuzzy pickle huh. For real Nintendo. Did you really think we all don't know what your fefering to
Sorry I meant referring fefering
Feferi!
Terezi Pyrope xD
***** No, I'M legally blind. I have a dragon cane and everything!
Justin Benally
James' Shitpickle
I was playing Animal Crossing for the GameCube, and Resetti was giving me a lecture, and then it went first-person. It was amazing.
Gulliver in new leaf also mentions Bobbery from Rogueport as a reference to Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year Door
Kevin Bacon...
I see what you did there :D
I fucking loved Resetti as a kid. I would reset the game intentionally just to watch that bastard get all flustered up. Damn emotionally fragile children....
Anima crossing is the best game series ever!
JANTRAN, YES!
rip in piece jantran
2009-2012
"But I didn't die though.
It was a joke" ~JanTran
Ironically, the Mr. Resetti assist trophy in smash brothers actually causes me to reset the game.
DYKG of the Tales series!
I got wild world right after it came out, and Mr Resetti scared the hell out of me. Never forgot to save again.
Same except mine is on new leaf, I just logged in and then turned it off and I logged on at night and he came up
Mr. Resetti scared me when I was younger, and I always felt really sad and bad after he showed up.
Animal Crossing For Wii U.. Hope it will happen.. :)
It happened but it was shit.
For the switch BAYBEE!
Recently found an easter egg in New Leaf. One of my villagers wanted to buy something in the retail shop and the answer: ''you only live once!'' appeared, so thats pretty cool... i guess... though i haven't seen it since.
You only see it once! Lol
Hello my friend
Mr. Resets is actually the reason I quicksave before doing certain things I might regret in the Fallout series
If they do another one on Animal Crossing, they should mention the story "The Terrible Secret of Animal Crossing." One of the best short stories I've ever read. Definitely worth the mention.
3:04 is that japanese jesus lol
Kids actually cried at Mr. Resetti?! Wow... kids are extremely sensitive now-a-days, aren't they?
nah, if i was 5 years old playing animal crossing, i'd cry too. kids at that age dont like the idea of getting into trouble, after all.
To be honest I was 18 years old the first time I saw Resetti and I felt kinda uncomfortable with him (the whole fourth wall breaking really annoys me)... I can see why some kids cry
Payuk That fourth wall shit is too confusing for kids.
The only part I hated about Mr. Resetti was that it took such a long time skipping through his "lectures", despite me being forced to reset due to connection problems.
i think a lot of kids would cry after being yelled at, especially in an environment they expect to be happy & welcoming like a video game such as animal crossing
I've never liked Resetti but I do like the option in New Leaf to give him a reason why you didn't save. He made my sister cry so much when she didn't save and wouldn't let her continue.
what a cool Christmas present DYKG EPISODE!!!
I want to know what did Mr.Resetti say to make the kids cry ? If it wasn't nothing that harsh then those sure are some soft kids LOL
Kids are soft in general nowadays. They're terribly molly-coddled, and parents are far too worried about them even getting scraped or bruised up a little. Getting hurt is a part of growing up, otherwise, children have no frame of reference for bad situations. Everything that happens to them as an adult becomes a tragedy in their eyes, since they've never known any worse.
VictusBcb Look out a Prinny!
Number13teen Dood! I don't have any humans to throw me, you're safe ^_^
It was mostly the fact he never shut up about not saving, so irritating ¬_¬
VictusBcb these kind of parents and kids have always been around its just now the media gives them more attention. its not like mommas boys didn't exist in our generation
Jon
Resetti can also be visited in New Leaf after you build the surveilance center, with the same rules as City Folk, on random nights after 8 PM :3
JonTron makes every video better
I just realized jontron voiced this
I didn't know anything this time, which is rare! AC is such a fun game!
another thing that Gulliver will reference is that when you help him he says "I have not met a more noble skipper than Bobbery from Rogueport" (or something along those lines) a reference to Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Oh so that's why you get your tinuki suit when you find a leaf in super Mario bros 3
I heard the Totaka song like 30 times before making to the wifi island. Man, my internet is horrible
So a cartoon mole lecturing about the importance of saving is traumatizing to children but running around with a gun shooting at anything that moves and senseless killing with graphics that make other characters look like real people (at least to their child minds) in a first person point of view doesn't?
***** i don't. I'm just assuming for the sake of this joke. And I'm also assuming other people see that I'm assuming. XD
It does seem like a really weird thing for a kid to get upset over. I mean, really? A mole tries to tell you how important it is to save and the kid, what, just starts sobbing? Somebody needs to tell that kid to grow a pair! What's worse are the parents who actually took it seriously enough to write letters over it.
I wonder what those parents said in those letters?
"Shame on you for making a cartoon mole that tries to teach players the importance of saving! It made my two year old cry! It totally wasn't the fact that he's two and that's just what two year old kids do, your colorful and somewhat abrasive mole-man is obviously evil and wrong!"
I guess these parents have never punished their children, someone saying something to them in an authoritative manner must be a foreign concept to these kids. I use to get my ass belted as a child...
OckhamAsylum I remember being super scared of not saving when I was younger because of Resetti. Mainly because I had seen online that resetting enough times would make your villagers move away and not like you, and I thought bad things would happen (I also wasn't sure which sources I could trust and thought I could lose save data) if I reset. Also, it made me really angry because the game would freeze, and I would be punished for Nintendo's own wrongdoings. There was another time when I got stung by a bee and thought that the bee sting would last forever, so I was super sad and reset and having someone yell at me just made it worse. I realize this all sounds incredibly pathetic but realize those are thoughts of an appr. 8 year old, and AC was my life back then.
Kids are dumb. Everyone knows that.
I love the Tokata Melody. I already found it in Zelda, Mario and Animal Crossing
Haha, Mr. Resetti kinda freaked me out as a little kid too. Not to the point of crying, but he definitely gave me the creeps.
Does anyone know why Did You Know Gaming aren't uploading any new stuff on the website?
Because they update every day.
Except they haven't updated in 3 weeks now.
you forgot about if you turn the power off when visiting another town in the original
Resetti scared me when I was like, 9, but it wasn't just him. The background music scared me to death.
The way he said "Tota K.K." was just too funny! xD
In the German Version Gulliver talk about Bart-Omb (Admiral Bobbery) and Rohlingen (Rogueport).
5:05 NSA
JonTron! It's good to hear your voice again, my friend. Two videos in two days -- please don't burn yourself out, we still have all of 2014 to get through! :)
did you guys also know that crazy redd also resembles the keaton fox from the legend of zelda majora's mask, K.K.'s name also resembles the sound composer Koji Kondo, and the K.K. song can also be play in yoshi's story when your on trial mode, and when you talk to your neighbors or other people the way they talk sounds alot like in starfox for SNES how fox, falco, peppy, and slippy sound like, and the robo furnitures resembles as R.O.B the robot, and snake's name is also a reference to snake pliskin from escape from new york, and escape from L.A., in new leaf if look at the ancient greek sculpture you'll see it's holding a UFO from wild world and city folk and when you talk to your neighbors when they ask you "what does SF stand for?" if you say "i have no idea" then they'll say "for an example Super Famicom."
What's up with that echo? Is JonTron recording in a school gym?
You mean to tell me, that when Margie the elephant was on my wild world, then I gave it away, and then she was on my new leaf, are you telling me that that was pure luck? MARGIE DOES LOVE ME! :D
same thing happened here, but with a different villager. :3
Aw! our animals love us.
When Mr Resetti showed up on my game and started talking I was like "lool kay then"
That moment when you think you know all the secrets to a game, but then you watch Did You Know Gaming and then you say to yourself "Everything is clear now" haha
I accidentally played animal crossing: city folk on my cousins dsi I turned off the ds and turned back on... Resetti yelled at me not knowing what to do I ran away and told my cousin "Resetti Yelled at me!" I had a nightmare that Resetti snuck into my room and yelled at me. I've had a had rid for Resetti ever since!
I meant hatred not had rid
+Mrcoolmuffin365 city folk on DSi? there is wild world but City folk is on wii.
thats what i meant XD
+joede24224 How was he optional? I never got that option (if it is one) and I got yelled at for just logging on and logging back off
*whispers aggressively:* THIS WOULD MAKE A GOOD REGION LOCKED TOPIC IF YOU ACTUALLY DID ONE
Yay a nichijou fan
LayzEE Yay Nano
One more thing to mention about Resetti and City Folk. In the game can it happen that Resetti threats to erase the save file but he never does it. In the european version however, if you have reset a total of 50 times, it is bound to happen.
I don’t think Mr. Resetti ever made children cry, they were probably crying with the realization that all their hardwork was gone.
