A few questions 1 if you program it to lock the door and you keep the door open what does it do? 2 can you lock and unlock automatically at a certain time of the day? 3 if you open the door with the normal key, does it accept to lock it from the app?
I like that they have a keypad option with a finger print reader (something that August and Wyse seem to overlook) but I'm not certain about the NFC tags as current use of NFC is just a sequence of data much like the account number with expiry date and validation code, with credit cards and hence can easily be duplicated. NFC tags can even be read from a distance of 25 feet if you don't observe the FCC power levels. I would not want to enable NFC support on the locks unless a challenge response one time password system is used where the actual secret can not be gathered from the tag.
I have question, can this smart switchbot lock even be locked down the turn knot even outside using the key? Can it be screwed into the door instead of double-taped ? I've been using Ultraloq Pro Bolt like 3 years ...kinda good in term of quality ...but their wifi feature is struggling to work after years without any improvement (remote lock & unlock not really working via Wifi) This will be my second option to go with!
I actually ordered the newer version but I didn't work with my application. It required two screws from the deadbolt casing to be removed an my door handle and lock are one unit. So that newer one is at another home and I ordered this older one. It worked better for my needs
Really need something like this for my front door, i hate that it opens from the outside as the kids and the missus never f**king lock it behind them. Problem is and why this wont work for me, handle needs to be lifted in order to be able to lock the door.
I would love to see a feature added to the fingerprint keypad, so that if it will recognize a valid fingerprint, it can trigger a custom action like sending a command to a Switchbot bot to press a button or trigger an alexa routine, send http request etc. This would be so useful for a lot of cool smart home projects where I can trigger routines just with a fingerprint 🙂
The newer doorbell cams such as the Eufy dual camera doorbell with the Homebase 3 can recognise people's faces so you can take actions on that. I'm not certain if the AI to do the facial recognition is on the doorbell or the Homebase though I suspect the latter (so older doorbells might do the same if the Homebase is upgraded).
If anyone is interested, I made an extension for the Switchbot Lock. It lets you use it on locks that have a recessed knob that the normal part can't reach. Made a video about it and added links to the 3D model files if you want to make one too: th-cam.com/video/dwaqqWMg-p8/w-d-xo.html
Getting mine tommorow, really excited! The concept is so simple yet powerful; a small robot that turns your key. No real installation required

The keypad was not aligned with the lock. That made me go all Hulk on my own here. 🤣

looks so fragile. No screws, batteries, wireless, ... Sure convenient to install, but how long will it last.
Does it work with Jimmy lock

I agree that would be awesome

Good point
So when you say "any lock", what you really mean is "only 1 type of lock"!!!!
Which for North America is the majority of home entry locks.

Sweet! Appreciate you sharing this here.
@@DroidModderX Thank you for sharing your video too! It was really helpful. ☺️
Open contact looks too far away
Imagine accidentally unlock the door at night
I guess it could happen
We've got August locks which have timed auto lock features so the exact opposite happens as the locks lock themselves if we forget to lock them.

Dude. Your smart watch (on your wrist) is way to tight. Arguably unhealthy. You should allow your blood to flow without constraint.
Good point. I've lost a considerable amount of weight since this video and its not as much of an issue
@@DroidModderX Good to know. Thanks for the video. I have bought my SwichBot lock and can't wait for it to get here.
😁😁😁👍👍👍
