Imagine the thrill. You write this song as a 19 year old kid and, all these years later, there's a small orchestra behind you and guys who've played it with you for years, to a nationwide audience. What could be better?
My favorite group of all time!!!!! Justins voice is like angels singing !!!! They got me through some fun times in my teen years, and sad times!!!! Love them finally getting in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!!! ❤❤❤❤... 💙💙💙💙💙.... 💃💃💃💃.....
I LOVE LOVE THE MOODY BLUES!! Justin's voice is so beautiful ..he's breathtaking to me...I had the pleasure of seeing them in concert here in VB late 90s...what a phenomenal concert I have ever seen...couldn't sleep when I got home because it was so fantastic...Rest in peace dear Ray and Graeme...your fans love and miss you..I love you all
Justin's voice never changes. He sounds today just as he did in this video, which sounds just as good as he did at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970. amazing!
Well, not quite as good as the Isle of Wight concert. They were totally on top of their game at that time. Justin was young and looked like a Rock Superstar and his voice was really strong. But yeah, I feel 'ya.
THE MOODYS' were so far ahead of the time; it took so many years for many to recognize this great band. Just listen to the body of work they've left for us!
I'm with you. Their music had such profound meaning. Not only was the music itself incredible, but the words to the music told a story. When I think of genius artists, I think of The Moody Blues.
SpectorTippy. Yes, it spoke to me some 50 years ago when I was young and in the middle of a profound spiritual awakening; “. “I’m just beginning to see, now I’m on my way, it doesn’t matter to me chasing the clouds away, Something calls to me, The trees are drawing me near, I’ve got to find out why, Those gentle voices I hear, Explains it all in a sigh,”. These lyrics and music validated an experience I was going through back then, and I didn’t feel alone on my own journey. I could see, or rather, hear that this band, or some of its members, were also on the same wavelength!
Last time I saw them was in 1992 Harrahs, Lake Tahoe, NV. Best Moody Blues show I ever saw. The stage, the orchestra, the back up singers, the band all looked and perfomed phenomenomally. This band is one of my all time favorites and you can tell they love performing for their fans. When Justin sings it's as if he is singing just to you.
I grew up with these guys in my ears courtesy of my Dad.......one of the greatest gifts he ever bestowed upon me......I was born in '74 so otherwise would have missed them altogether. Cheers Dad x
I have been a fan since I was a child. I got to see The Moody Blues in 1981 when an unknown (at the time) guitar player open for them by the name of Stevie Ray Vaughan, who just blew the crowd away, and again in 2012. What’s really is it would be the last time I will ever see a Moody Blues concert, as Ray Thomas and Graham Edge are no longer with us, and the remaining members have decided to call it a wrap. The closest we will ever come is going to see Justin when he is on a solo tour, John Lodge also tours on his own but, without Justin, I’ll pass.
Where did 20, 30, 40 , 50 years go... Saw the Moodies in' 68 and about 30+ times since and now in 2015 Jan and I see them again at Red Rocks, where she first saw them and I was there for the recording of"Live at Red Rocks"backin the 90's - seen them all over the world- always fantastic!!!!
Saw them about 6 yrs ago in Miami...did not want to leave the theater as parts of my life unfolded thru their wonderful songs! I'm sure the entire audience felt similar!!!
Hubby and I (and a bunch of Moody friends) were there in the audience, after standing all day in line! This was an incredible night. Then we all converged on Vegas for more shows at Caesars and our wedding on the 25th :-) Lifelong memories, this video makes it even better!
MoodyJill-you continue to blow me away with what you find. How many bands would drag half an orchestra to appear on Leno? Only the legendary Moodies-and I miss Ray (though Norda is fantastic).
One of the secrets to The Moody Blues is the way the vocal harmonies are phrased in either lying low at the end or ending high at the end as both styles sound as if they are reaching into the future...Aaaaaaa - high at the end...Oooooo - low at the end, both styles reaching beyond into the ether, plus the echo and the reverb is classic sixties genius. Brian Wilson had this down as well...G...
The Moody's music sounds so orchestral and complex, but it's just really nice, clean pop music - they just have the chops and voices to make it shine. The Mellotron sounds like an army of musicians, too. How many bands survive losing their lead singer and come back even better? Rare.
Love seeing them all together, Justin's voice is strong, RIP Ray...you were all wonderful and a major part of my life! Thank you! Justin, thank you for the On the Blue Cruise and wonderful memories there too!
One of the very few times the band has appeared on "prime time" stuff. Ya know what? I'm glad that us fans get to keep them to ourselves. It makes us feel special 'cause so many people are missing out on this. 50% of the people you know are below average
I didnt realize that Justin Heyward was born same day as my father. No wonder he was such a big fan. I remember him playing "Days of future past" for me when I was 14. I was listening to Twisted Sister (or Quiet Riot) and he laid this on me. Totally blew me away. Fan ever since.
Ahh, Ray Thomas was still with them for this appearance. Great Band!! Justin, John and Graeme are still out there performing. Hall of Fame doesn't know talent, especially with some of those people they allowed in. The Moody Blues should have been in YEARS AGO!!
They, along with groups like Yes & EL&P, produced brilliant albums I always figured couldn't be reproduced live to a realistic level... but in fact surpassed those expectations.
Dedicated to Paul while riding up the lake on Sat nites. And it was his '67 Mustang and the Moody Blues that always got us there. RIP Paul, my first love~ ♥️
The Hall of fame lacks The Moody Blues, Rush, and Heart = That should be considered as crimes against humanity. But LL Cool J got right in. Ya know, because of the decades of hits he produced.... PFFFFFFFFFFT!!
yea they sound amazing still have it and are still touring this song has always stirred deep emotions inside of me that i might not have known where there took me away and painted a picture of piece in my mind breath taking truly breath taking it stands on its own and has always been my favorite above nights in white satin but i have grown to love nights in white satin over the years as well
Pam & I just celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary last Thursday, but will be celebrating with the Moody Blues in concert May 1st, 2015. Looking forward to this our 3rd concert with them. Thank you Moody Blues for all the joy you have shared with us and others over the years. Pamela & John W.
Saw them in Sioux Falls around this time with the full South Dakota philharmonic orchestra onstage. Lot's of gowns and tuxedo's in the audience. It was a surreal experience to me. Just fantastic....
The Moody Blues have moved way above/ahead of the R&R Hall of Fame. The HOF could save no face by inducting them now. It would almost be a joke. Great clip!
Wow-thanks for bringing up the headphones because I thought mine were broken. I don't think the vocals were that great because it was recorded off of an analoge TV. Anyhow-agree with everyone about the Hall of Fame. These guys really deserve their own special category. I truly believe that they saved the sanity of many guys who were drafted into the Vietnam War and came home to still more insanity. Teenagers in high school these days can not imagine what it was like then -the draft into war.
It's the Moody-freaking-Blues, and they have gone to the trouble to bring along an orchestra to take Pinder's place and sound like people expect them to sound, AND they sing freaking "Tuesday Afternoon," one of the all-time greatest songs, and JAY LENO GIVES THEM THE BUM'S RUSH! Six minutes total for the song and interview! Wow, thanks Jay, are you sure you can you spare it?
I saw them several years ago in Daytona Beach and they were, as usual, awesome. I saw them again two years ago in Orlando and the show was very disappointing. The sound engineering was way off...instruments were crashing loud which forced the vocals to scream the songs. The songs we love and have heard for many years was unrecognizable.
Thank you for this. As always, the guys look grand! My headphones couldn't pick both sides. Only the right ear played. Did anyone encounter this? Again, thanks~ Janet
They are not in the Hall of Fame. That organization is to consumed with being politically correct to induct real talent such as the moodies. A real shame!
No! The have never been nominated. According to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Committee and other fellow musicians from different genres, they agreed that the Moody Blues "lacked" the Rock and Roll edge" I think that sucks. The Moody Blues have given us some of the most beautiful music. They are not rock and roll, but they are worthy of getting in to the Hall of Fame. I love this song, especially.
Cate Stone lack the rock n roll edge eh? THEY lack the ability to see further than their limited version of rock n roll. Rock has taken many forms through the years and what can be said of the Moody Blues, that cannot be said of them, is that they have their own distinct sound that has the ability to bring in classical music, and make a blend that is both pleasant and uplifting spiritually. All of us older hippy types classed their music as rock n roll- even if it wasn't limited to guitars and drums. Keep the old fogey musicians and their biases out of the nominations and the fans would put them there in a heartbeat- especially when you compare it to some of the groups that HAVE made it in that I never even heard of. The millions and millions of record sales and sold out concerts speak for themselves. The Moody Blues deserve a spot in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and are still proving it 50 plus years later. Shame on those crusted old "in the box" thinkers. You'd think a rocker would know better. They've become as limited in their thinking as we all complained about our parents and elders of being (sorry for the confused language there, but you get the idea.).
I read an article that stated the lacked the edge to get into the Hall of Fame. They really are not Rock and Roll. But like I said before, they are one of the best 70s bands. I don't know the right word to describe their music, except AWESOME. Whatever, eh?
The artificial leg was thrown in a concert in Hampton, VA. Early 80's. Ray Thomas remarked that a lot of crazy shit had been thrown on stage, but this was the craziest.
They are all gorgeous! Justin is a golden one to look at, but they all have that special something. Their music is simply timeless. Kids today could learn a few lessons from this MUSIC, as opposed to the junk they listen to which has absolutely no melody and atrocious words that pass for lyrics.
Imagine the thrill. You write this song as a 19 year old kid and, all these years later, there's a small orchestra behind you and guys who've played it with you for years, to a nationwide audience. What could be better?
There was a small orchestra on the studio version,London Festival or something similar.
My favorite group of all time!!!!! Justins voice is like angels singing !!!! They got me through some fun times in my teen years, and sad times!!!! Love them finally getting in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!!! ❤❤❤❤... 💙💙💙💙💙.... 💃💃💃💃.....
2023 - Justin sounds just as good as he did then. 💙💙💙
Agree ❤❤❤
Happy Birthday, 🎉🎂🎊🎁🎈 Justin! October 14th, 2023 also the day of the Solar Eclipse commemorating this special day! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
JUSTIN IS AN ABSOLUTE ANGEL

Justin's voice never changes. He sounds today just as he did in this video, which sounds just as good as he did at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970. amazing!
That's because perfection never changes; the man was blessed w/ a perfect voice.
Well, not quite as good as the Isle of Wight concert. They were totally on top of their game at that time. Justin was young and looked like a Rock Superstar and his voice was really strong. But yeah, I feel 'ya.
@@cosmo1eleven855 Thank you.
@@cidspimms Yes a bit above the above average
yes really....how is that even possible.....Time Traveller !
BEST BAND EVER.
THE MOODYS' were so far ahead of the time; it took so many years for many to recognize this great band. Just listen to the body of work they've left for us!
Pink Floyd asks why you didnt consider them in this category or conversation when you made these comments?
@@davidroberts7282 Because Pink Floyd was recognized very quickly as one of the best ever.
I grew up the moodies , everytime I hear or see them, not afraid to say it I get tears in my eyes
I'm with you. Their music had such profound meaning. Not only was the music itself incredible, but the words to the music told a story. When I think of genius artists, I think of The Moody Blues.
I'm glad you weren't embarrassed to tell your true feelings. Women like that about a man. This band is in my soul.
Ur not Alone Mike. Me too... 😤♥️

I just cried my eyes out over Blue Guitar.
How exciting to see the Moody's on Jay Leno's show in the states.🌹
My favorite singer, songwriter, group & song of all times! What joy!
I love their music. Stops me in my tracks everytime I hear them. I still have a crush on the singer after all these years. One of my favorite bands.

What a sound- Excellent vocals

Their music will transcend time and last forever!
The prosthetic leg story is probably one of my all time favorites he's ever told. Just saw Justin a few weeks ago and he still sounds great.
It still seems surreal to know Ray is gone. It just...can't be true. Sadly, it is. Miss the man's voice.
WE ALL MISS RAY SINCE HIS DEPARTURE FOR ETERNITY ROAD..🙏😇❤💋🤗

also dream theater and many others kek

Their music is the music of heaven. I fully expect to hear this when I am departed from my body and am in the celestial heavens -- The Moody Blues.
