Justin Hayward is a musical deity. Ray Thomas just passed away and the Moodies will harmonize no more. But they always will be. Hayward is such a gentle and special soul.
All members of The Moody Blues are great Human Beings. Very Humble and down to earth and gifted beyond measure. RIP Ray Thomas. You still are a genius. For your music will live on for eternity.
magda3102 Monaco makes sense. Tax haven and gorgeous, though they r very close. He could drive. How often does he go? I know he’s busy. It’s great he’s back to his Faith based routes. Wonder what he does on the road. Episcopalian?
Justin and his band mates created music that appealed to my spiritual nature as it did for many others as well, which was not the first, or the only time that form of music and lyrics were done, but the Moody’s did it for decades-50 years now, and their message of Love-Spiritual and love in the Romantic sense, have pulled me out of some deep holes I found myself in throughout my life. For that I am eternally grateful. There were moments I was flying ever so high, especially in the late 60’s and early 70’s, it sounded like the voice of God and the “Word” of God were carrying, lifting, and creating a joy in my heart that brought me to tears, but not tears of despair or sadness, or hopelessness, but a kind of faith that everything was ok, and that Love was all around, and within me, so I would just kick back and smile a mile! I wish I had their gift with words so I could explain what I’m trying to say in a way that everyone would understand. I suspect there are some that really do understand what I’m saying, and were taken to the same kind of joy that I’m speaking of! I’ve seen them a few times already and I’m going to catch them the next time they come out to Long Island near to where I live! I’m looking to forward to it!
It appealed to my spiritual and emotional nature too, even if I didn't always pick up as much hope or joy. Maybe that's my nature. But I did pick up on much weariness and sadness from Mike and Justin.
Yes, I suspect many of the sincere Moody fans love them for their messages of love and hope. Somehow even with the weariness and sadness that Mike and Justin may have expressed, there was and is an undercurrent of hope!
@@Godskingdomwithin You have a great screen name! It's something that I heard growing up as a Friend (Quaker) but their music really got the message into my soul!
ALL of the Moody Blues are nice guys ...I LOVE their music to this day.over 50 years..its beautiful! I'm sad Ray and Graeme have passed away...they will never be forgotten...they are the greatest band ever.
wow been a fan for a long time thanks to my hubby who took me when we were dating and we sat there and said if we stay together we should name our first son justin he is 23 yrs old and we are celebrating almost 25 yrs together !thanks moodies see every time your close by sorry we are missing the cruise.
Thank you for waking me up all the relatives are doing a good job of this and it is doing a real surface worldwide. We should not fear our relatives across the oceans we should embrace them because when we combine ourselves we begin to understand through connectivity that all things are possible
Yeah they are one of my favorite bands. I'm only 18. I got to know them, because my father sometimes play music of them and I loved "Nights in white satin" and wanted to know more about their music :)
This "lousy" guitar player has written some of the greatest classic rock hits ever. You heard of "nights in white satin"? ;-) And especially on 12 string, he is a legend... Don't despise him only because you saw him noodeling around in his appartment with lousy sound... Enter "Justin Hayward" in the search window and check him out!
I pray that the mother goddess will give us more time with Justin. At least another 10 years. Although I find it harder to go and see him as I am 70 years old. I saw him at Hampton beach new Hampshire. When he went solo, also at the egg in albany New York. With mike julie and carmen. I bet ive seen justin at least 75 times inthe last 40 years. I miss him I havent been able to see him in a couple of years . I live in the Berkshires in Massachusetts. Tanglewood in lenox Massachusetts is about 40 minutes from my home.
I really enjoyed reading your comment and it seems as though we have had very similar experiences with Justin/ the Moody Blues and their concerts. I live about 30 miles west of Boston. Since June 2023 we saw Justin 5 times at his solo concerts. I believe all of those concerts were sold out and it goes without saying that he was amazing! We started going to his solo concerts in 2013 which is when I believe he started touring regularly as a solo artist. I have no problem saying that for me, Justin’s music, songs, and voice were by far the best. However I absolutely love the Moody Blues and I think they are the best band this planet has ever seen! Over the last few years I made a decision to collect all of the music made by the Moodies and most especially all of Justin’s solo work. It wasn’t easy locating everything (or cheap!) but I did, both CD’s and DVD’s. I just turned 71 and I will follow Justin’s concerts as long as he is somewhat close to us. Best wishes, keep rocking! 😊
kinda bummed out tonite, you know just not feeling right, and this vid just brings a smile to my face, and a few laughs watch it all the time, and trying to following his guitar fun but ..good luck !
I have been a Moody fan from the start. There music was so geared to people with thoughts and org. My son who is now 22 is named justin? Don't know where that came from. I have seen them every time they are on tour and can't wait till the next one. I am from Toronto but have lived in the Uk since 84. wow time flies!
...and Driftwood is one of my favorites...such a lovely version he played. OK...so now he can do a LP/CD of his songs as acoustic. Just him and a guitar. And it just KILLS me to hear people say he's not a "good" guitarist. (I call B-S, cos 50+ years of music proves otherwise.)
I am always amazed at how a guitar works and the person playing it. How do you know what strings to play on the neck to coincide with what is going on below and not look. I love watching Justin play and this was nice just playing without any words. I love the song Who Are You Now.

Hey Scottmaster84, RELAX! Just kidding around! It's good to know that at least someone had the guts to jump on my case! The moody Blues are one of my favorite bands and were part of my life as I was growing up in the 60s&70s! Justin Hayward is the cream of the crop when it comes to song writing And composition! He's definitely up there with lennon&McCartney if not better in some way's! Gotta go....PEACE BROTHER!
This is definetely in MONACO (I used to live there), but I was looking for a MUSIC video of him singing Nights in White Satin "40" years ago (sound scary, doesn't it?)
I think that the first part of the video (45 seconds or so) is a mix of songs. It sounds like it could be a combination of Songwriter Pt.1, Lay it on Me, and Stagedoor. I could be completely wrong, but at first listen, that's what it sounds like.
This is his house in Monaco, not apartment. He still has those sexy long sideburns. Love the way Justin tells a story. He can have you rolling on the floor. He plays keyboards you see in that room. "The Day We Meet Again" is a good example. Something tells me his kisses very passionately. lol
Wow, I knew of Jerry Weintraub from the Karate Kid franchise, but I didn't know he began his career as a music mogul or had anything to do with the Moodies. I thought the clip Justin was playing had something to do with "Don't Need a Reindeer" from December. Is that his praised Martin which he mentioned during a 1995 Guitar Player column? Not to mention, does anyone know how he learned to play? I'm asking as a guitarist who took lessons for six-and-a-half years (plus a college semester of classical) and have witnessed some outstanding presentations from players like Dawayne Bailey who figured it out on their own.
Hay Graeme, listen to Mike he says he is sorry, so what more do you want. The next time I see the Moodys, I know Mike will be their it's up to you Justin. Now go for it. One More Time To Live
He has received so many awards for his writing. Hard to believe that the band can't get into the R&R Hall of Fame. Guess they'll wait for one of them to die. The Hall of Fame has become a joke since they have started inducting rap "artists". That ain't rock!

MrSharkey11 he is no longer there it’s a long time ago and he and family are in UK but he and Mrs H spend his down time between France and UK. I have lovely photos in both places.
Kind of strange to think of Justin in his one bedroom apartment (he said it once) in France. Still globe trotting but otherwise in some drab neighbourhood.
Its sad that he is reduced to living in that cramped apartment but he still has his guitar and a nice piano. I guess they could have used an honest manager to avoid mistakes and rip offs. The Blues can be happy though that they produced such beautiful music.
