Putting that new camera to the test! Love the long format. 95% of poker is in the unexciting hands, and the short YT format necessitates biased samples to focus on the exciting parts; this content helps fill out some of those gaps by showcasing more “normal” play.
@@BluffaloSam I really enjoyed the long format as well, tons of vloggers putting out exciting hands, but I really liked hearing the thought process of when to float vs. when not. These mundane hands are most of poker after all. Keep up the good work!
This is one of the most valuable poker blogs I've seen for players that enjoy the analytical aspect of the game. You talk about the frequency, player tendencies, profiles, position, bet sizes, card range. Everything. Very impressive. And a daunting video to edit. You can be proud to say, this is excellent. And I watched the whole hour. Kudos.
Sam, I like this format, and I like your rule about leaving when you make a big mistake. I play long sessions and I tend to get worse towards the end of my sessions.
A very helpful and informative video with tips I can apply to my game too. Thanks a bunch and cheers! Also kudos for making the effort to edit such a long video
This vlog is amazing! Please do more of these full session vlogs as it’s great to see your decision making for folds. BTW, the latest Upswing video featured both your and my hands!
@@BluffaloSam Tough hand for sure. I figured my Kh was an out as villain played hand like an all flush. I just seen villain try a terrible bluff which is why I called him down. In the end, he masterfully played the flopped nut flush
Too many newer players have a vlog mentality in which they think 90% of their hands are playable to the River. This helps to show the slow paced reality of profitable poker.
I haven’t even watched the whole thing yet but I’m so excited, I wish more vloggers did long form poker content like this. I don’t like watching just the big hands; I’d like to see how people handle the more common spots.
Love this format. Seeing the “not so interesting” hands helps me out a lot. Saw u say maybe doing something like this once a month. That would be awesome. Already love your vids but think everyone would enjoy this format too.
This long format gives a much better perspective. On many shorter vlogs it seems like 80+% of the hands you play go to showdown. This looks more realistic
I know first hand the amount of work to film a full session with every hand. The editing is crazy. Props to you for an hour long video holy moly. Gj dude and nice session.
Best vlog ever for you and that's saying alot as they're all really good. I watched this one more carefully than I usually watch these vlogs paying attention to the hands you played to the river and where you got out early. Your decisions make a lot of sense. You seem to avoid letting your gut take over which is a great attribute. I went to the Lodge this morning for a few hours and tried to do the same. Played 1/2 and left up $390. BTW, I watch the Lodge stream of 2 weeks ago and you had a tough day there. I was pulling for you but sometimes the cards just ain't there. Good luck on your journey across the US and your drive to $100k. Where to next? Oh yeah, and Happy Holidays.
Thanks fella! The Lodge was a rough one, but it wasn't so bad considering how big the game was, and how tough the table was. I'm just hopping around Texas for now playing in different livestreams, but florida in January :)

Great video! Why did you show AQd bluff at 47:55? It was a great bluff, but I feel like it was not in line with the analytic decision making you've displayed. Just proud of the play or was there a specific analytical reason?
With the ace, King hand, considering you had the ace of hearts and the flush draw bricked out on the river. I wouldn’t beat myself up too bad over that call. I see a lot of recreational players shoving when they miss that flush draw. But that’s just from my personal experience over the years because they don’t know what to do when they miss. I did like the format by the way. Hope the continued success and run good continues! Definitely enjoying your travel and journey up to this point. Safe travels, maybe we will see you in Jacksonville Florida sometime soon.
Sucks to lose a big part of your winnings at the end like that, know how that feels. That's a good rule to have, to leave after a play like that, I should do it too..
I laughed out loud when you clicked up the A4 of hearts saying “just maybe he’ll fold an overpair” and then “he doesn’t give a shit all in” 😂😂 they do not care at the low stakes
AJo (3:45): "This is just never a bluff." I don't think you've played enough Texas 2/5 to make that blanket statement. This could easily be a bluff imo and is villain dependent. TT (8:15): Range on this flop does a ton of checking. TT bets 33% a lot but still checks 42%. 6h vs 6s changes TT's strategy very little on the turn. What's interesting is that this combo is by far the most passive. It actually checks 33% on the river (but jams the rest). The other 2 combos jam 100%.
I haven't found Texas to be that much crazier than Vegas tbh. In fact 3bet ranges are a lot tighter down here, with very little bluffs preflop. TT I'm surprised the 6h isn't a big changer to OOP's strat tbh. I reckon this combo does a lot more checking as we unblock front door and backdoor bluffs?
At 42:26 when you have KdQd, why are you so sure the 4-bet here is not a bluff, when you identified the similar pre-flop 4-bets in previous hands as a bluff? Would love a breakdown of the difference between the preflop action that makes clear why one is real and one is a bluff.
This was great. Two things, one, I thought I was a competent player, but now I know I’m a fish. So, there’s that. But, second, when you are calculating the percentage of the pot to bet based on the effective SPR, your math seems like it changes from hand to hand. I’m certain that I just don’t understand, so I was hoping you could explain how you are getting to your numbers. Oh, and do you have a personal coach or do you use an online trainer like upswing or JLittle?
Thanks fella! SPR on the turn usually determines my bet sizing. 3SPR 80% 4SPR 100% 6SPR 130% etc. I used to use upswing, I don't have a coach currently
So, how are you coming up with those percentages? One of these hands you figured a SPR of 9 and said you needed to bet 175% to get stacks in. Are they hard and fast memorization numbers or is there a formula for this?
300bb deep OOP 4-bet 4x + cold caller is standard tho? I mean 200bb deep GTO 4-bets 3x IP and 4x OOP, but I've heard when u go deeper the sizings go down at some point so I'm not sure what size solver would use there but I'd think it would be around the same as 200bb. And he has to put the 50 more because of the cold caller. That just seems super standard and if he did just 3x there you and the cold caller would have to defend almost full range there for the price.
@@BluffaloSam There is thread on 2+2 about deepstack 3bet sizings and someone posted results HU simulations BU vs BB and OOP 3-bets like this: (2.5x open) 100b prefers 5x 200b prefers 4x 300bb prefers 3x Haven't seen any sims of 4bet sizings yet but I'm very interested and there would be EV gains for sure to be able to adapt to perfect sizings depending on effective stacks because live games often range from 100-1000bb deep and it would be easy to learn if you just get the charts printed.
