- Hello, my name is Sam and this is the $100 - $100,000 bankroll challenge. We began on March, 24th 2023 with a $100 deposit on pokerstars, after grinding microstakes tournaments, we took our $1,330 and went to the live 1/3 NLHE streets. I think it’s better for you to stay at 1/3 instead of playing short stacked 2/5. I think you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage playing a shove or fold strategy as I think you play very well postflop against the 1/3 player pool.
I definitely agree, gonna be grinding 1/3 until I can comfortably shot take $1,500 buyins.
I play 2-5 when I got to Vegas even though I normally play 1-3.
Bellagio and Cesar’s both have $500 cap 2-5 games and I do pretty well in those.
Yeah. What the table max at 2/5 there? I'd take 1k if possible.
I’m just a rec so YMMV, but in my room those raise/3bet sizes are way too small. They may be GTO approved but live players aren’t folding. That said, love your vlogs. Best of luck. Will keep watching.
@@nicholi2789 Hard Rock, and Riverrock have 2/5 with $800 cap, but they don't get going that often, even on weekends

QJcc hand, I think river has to be a value bet. Worse hands that would call will likely check to you or check back. Hands that have you beat are gonna lead river or value bet when checked to most of the time. Plus being put in a tough river spot if you get raised actually isn’t that tough. Live 2/5 you can pretty confidently bet fold as river raises are so underbluffed that I wouldn’t lose sleep over it
Yeah, I think bet fold is probably a better line

Dude called an all in with KQ off. That is the type of player you want to keep at the table so he can ship it when you have AK and he had KQ off again lol
don't lose heart! Did you take any time off between these individual sessions or are they played in back to back to back days? I know you aren't practicing any kind of strict BR management due to being gainfully employed, but its still a good idea to take a mental break after a big loss or two just to reset and chill mentally.
They were B2B2B sessions after work. I'm very good about stopping myself playing as soon as I tilt, and during this BRC I've only tilted once, I picked up my chips about 30 mins after and took a break till I knew I could enjoy playing again. Thanks for the kind words Charlie!

5:45 I think even with the bounty you're smoked here, you're getting 3 to 1, especially against 2 ranges, but even against 1 player I dont think you have 25%, there's 4 combos of Q9, Q8hh and Q9, Q8dd which is absolute best case scenario, but lots of AJ and NFDs you only have 22-26%, then against straights, sets and 2pair you have 14-16%
7:40 after turn checks through then FTA checks to you on river, I think you for sure gotta value bet here and target all the Jx, unless these games are significantly tougher than average live games, you can just happily fold to a raise. And with the Btn tank checking like you said, that looks exactly like JT or J9 or something, definitely not checking back a flush
the bounty hand I would have at least calculated (probably poorly, and with bias) my odds, just unfortunate to be a few dollars shy hahaha
Yeah, that was a missed river bet for sure. So many hands that can call a bet on that board, so few that can bet themselves.
@@BluffaloSam glad we're learning together! Probably the biggest problem with my game at this point is my ability to actually implement the thought process at the table in the moment.. It's easy to do it watching a video or a live stream, but I need a lot more experience to get more effective and efficient at the table. I'm definitely much tighter with my bankroll management too, ive decided I want 15 buyins of the next level before taking a 2 bullet shot and go back to lower buy-in if I lose a total of 2 bullets until back at 15.. its nice bc the 1/2 game here is 200-500 + match the stack, plays closer to 2/5 most of the time, so I should be able to play the same game with same player pool up to even like a 750 buy in
@SoulfightPoker One thing that helped early on was thinking about the situation from a 3rd person perspective, pretend you're reading this hand history online and reviewing it. Completely took my ego out, and only had to do it for a few months before it just became 2nd nature to think like this
@@SoulfightPoker You're definitely not alone here. 🙂 If you have the ability to play online, try playing one table and thinking about every hand. With the timer, it forces you to think quickly. Also, watch some play and explains but pause them at each decision spot, think about how you would react in a particular situation and then hit play again and compare to the person actually playing the hand. Take notes where your thought process is different....
The end result of these sessions is why I say that you should not be playing 2/5 with such a small bankroll. You played well, and made very few mistakes, but even a well played session can destroy your bankroll if the cards don't cooperate. That sucks. Sorry! Grind it back up! 🙃
AJo: On the turn you stated that you sized up to get all in by the river. Sizing up is unnecessary because the SPR was only 1.5. With such a low SPR, I would just jam the turn after the A hits. You can do that with heart draws and KQdd and KhQ, etc.
65s: Perfect bet sizing on the turn, good reasoning, and good fold.
TT: I am not sure about your reasoning on the river. Villain raised on a river that was extremely good for your range, which I think means either he has Kx+ and/or isn't concerned about your Kx.
AJo (18:39): What do you mean by "linear sizing"? BU should never fold to a bet of 70 after raising to 30. SB should 3! LARGER than 3x, not smaller. (As an example, GTOWizard changes 3! ranges, not bet sizes, when 3!/folding.) On the river, I can't find any strategy videos or articles that say you should block bet with a bluff. Usually the block bet is to "set the price" for thin value hands, make a bluff by villain slightly less likely, and get called by some worse hands. I'd maybe do that bet sizing with any pair between 6x and Tx.
AK (23:29): Wp. Good job getting full value.
KQs: I am not sure about the "he's trying to iso" assertion. He is raising out of the SB and he still has to contend with you being in position (on him), so his range should be really top-heavy, especially when his 4! size is so small. If he's a pro, IMO this means he wants the call (rather than just a misclick). On the turn KQdd is your best no pair hand. The A is much better for his range than yours, and you can still get it in on the river, so I think I'd just check back (even AK).
That's a really good point about the TT hand, I should be thinking about that from his perspective.
For the AJo hand, I saw some high stakes regs putting in very very small 3 bets when playing 3b/fold, like slightly over a minraise. If I'm betting value with a certain size, I also want bluffs with that size
Yeah, I really think I should've checked back my KQ flush draw on the turn on that card. Definitely a pretty costly mistake.
Amazing after a huge winning session invariably we have a huge losing session. Just when we're super optimistic about our play and the poker future for us we are often acutely reminded how swingy this game is and our hourly is a small amount of our total investment.
Absolutely, looking back I should not be firing 1 more 1k bullet at 2/5 with a 3.5k roll 😂 although I still feel very confident with 5-10 buyins at 1/3
don't reopen pots on the river for small sizing ever. ull find solver hates it its a 0% line
I think live is a bit different. If you're up against a villian that has never check raise bluffed a river in their life, then small sizings definitely have their place.
Just short term variance youll be at 100k in no time. Your levels ahead of 90% of your opponents at both these stakes levels. If you had the roll for 5/10 and 10/20?I'm sure you'd be at 100k in a few months.

It's the guy directly on my left. The player with the bounty on him is very very nitty, so he actually appreciates the action, he's almost always getting it in good and people are trying to suck out for the bounty 😂

13 buyins is not properly rolled. You might get lucky though. Good luck!
I take pretty aggressive shots with my BRM. I can always drop back down to 1/3, or online tournaments. Plus once we're at 2/5 there isn't much room to move up, so I wanna get there ASAP.
