- This episode of Capes is a little late but better late than never we feel! Taron Egerton has been long rumored to play Logan aka Wolverine for the X-Men. Sportsbooks have him as THE top choice. He has said that time has passed but lots of people aren’t buying it. We discuss. The new Penguin trailer dropped. Good stuff? Is it the gangster feel we were hoping for? Superman photos and will Chris Pratt join the DCU? This and more on Capes and Cowls with Kristian, Winston A. Marshall and Coy Jandreau.

Coy is so right about Gotham. I always thought it looked generic in Nolan’s films apart from the first one.
Matt Reeves should age his Batman in real time it's gonna be four or five years since we saw him, we should get a year 5 Batman.
Coy is spot on about the design of Gotham City in the Nolan movies. Batman Begins had a nice blend of that gothic style with the look of any modern city. In the sequels, it's just plain old Chicago and then NY and LA. That was one of the reasons I don't like the sequels. However, I have to disagree with Coy about keeping The Batman and The Penguin separate from the DCU. I think it's a mistake not to include them in that universe. It would've been the perfect jumping off point. I'm also confused by Coy's reasoning too, especially since he's a hardcore comics guy. Grounded characters and fantastical characters have always existed together in comics and their various movie and TV adaptations, so I don't get why Battinson and David Corenswet's Superman can't exist in the same world along with everyone else who will be in it. Not to mention the DCU will have Batman in it anyway. As far as Marvel casting the new Wolverine, I'm not entirely sold on the idea of Taron Egerton taking over the role. I can't picture him in it, but I'll keep an open mind if he gets it. Personally, out of all those guys on the list, I think Daniel Radcliffe is the best choice if they're going with a more comics-accurate look for the character heightwise. Of course, he'll have to put on some muscle.
I stopped thinking of Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter ever since I saw Swiss Army Man.
If that movie can't do it, no movie can. lol
Big name cameos as Logan will be fun in Deadpool and Wolverine, but for the "new" Wolverine go unknown we watched as Hugh became the character movie after movie go with an unknown and I think it softenes that blow. Let the audience grow with the actor, no preconceived notions.
Tht makes sense. But it's also not necessary. Audiences ignorance of actor ability and ignorance of the script should not dictate a director/casting directors choice.
If story good/actor is good, people will get over it, as we have seen multiple times.
Coy is 100% right about his gotham point.
Taron Egerton is my casting for Wolverine!🙌🏽🔥I’ve been saying he’s the perfect choice. He has the acting range, physicality , and the look. And he’s good friends with Hugh Jackman. It’s perfect!
I didn’t understand the desire for Taron as Wolverine until I watched him in Blackbird on Apple TV. His build and persona he had with that character converted me!
Coy is 100% right about Nolan’s Gotham!
I don't know why they reacted as if what he was saying was so controversial? 🤷😆
Thank you for the Saturday upload, worried you were just too busy with the NY transition this week.
I love Daniel Radcliffe but he isn’t menacing, he doesn’t feel like logan
People said the exact same thing about hugh jackman
Facts!!
People are forgetting about Zac Efron. He's got the look and the build, and is 5'8.
I mean no one was saying Hugh. The song and dance man could be menacing or had what it takes.
There's a reason it's not good to go with fan opinions. Fans don't have millions riding on this so they dont give casting deep thought. They judge on 1 or 2 movies. And they don't know the script
@@mikestand8067 No one knew Jackman before X-Men
Coy is 100% right about Nolan’s Gotham. Reeves did a much better job of making the city a character.
You mean Donner?
Batman Begins felt more like Gotham than Knight or Rises.
Matt Reeves stole a lot from Nolan’s trilogy
Nope it's from Batman yr zero and one comics@@redcomet0079
Coys 100% correct Nolans Gotham sucked and had no vibe or aura. Reeves actual city had an aura and helped make a tone to the movie just like Se7en. Schumakers had aura too. These cities are supposed to look distinct from each other not all just a normal city.
I agree but it was Nolans interpretation of a modern real world city and it worked for me, but yeah 100% Reeves Gotham is something special, I’m hyped for The Penguin show coming up
Reeves and Burton cooked with their Gothams
@@deemurdock_And it worked for many audiences for three films. People need to realize superhero films can be realistic and grounded
I have noticed online recently and even couple years ago when we talk about the Nolan batman movies or even Snyder's BVS, the look of Gotham City and Metropolis doesn't look good in those movies. I thought Batman begins presented a great interpretation of Gotham City, but it was The Dark Knight and rises, it either looked like Chicago or NY. With BVS, you couldn't tell whether they were in Gotham City or Metropolis.
Nolans was supposed to be more grounded in reality. Schumachers was awful and neon soaked
I think the fan castings don't take into consideration that usually it's more likely not to be a big name actor, still it's likely someone like Taron, but they'll probably go for some unknown or not so famous actors for the new X-Men. Considering that, I still insist with my choice of Kyle Gallner. Please someone else watch The Passenger so I don't look like a crazy person... 😁
PS: Coy is 100% right about Nolan’s Gotham.
Heath Ledger Joker was the best
Better late than never! I'm glad this came out cause i totally ran out of podcasts. I hope this ep does good numbers and shows you can release videos on weekends
Taron has been my top pick for years! The dude is an incredible actor, he has the size, he has the athleticism and could 100% pull off the chops and cigar combo 😂
Agreed. I really hope it's him 🙏🏾
It would be pretty cool if Penguin walked in on the aftermath of Batman beating people up. Just him surveying the wreckage of a warehouse.
I feel like Chris Pratt would make a great Mister Mxyzptlk or Bat-Mite.
Chris Pratt proved he can be a serious actor in The Terminal List.
Saturday upload??
*YOU’RE TEARING ME APART, KRISTIAN!!!* 😫
Would you prefer that they skipped the show entirely this week?
@@alexp601passive aggressive much
@@redcomet0079 Not really. You were complaining than the upload was late? I was just asking if you would’ve preferred if they skipped the show instead of uploading a day late
@@alexp601 it was a joke dude. I wasn’t “complaining” 🙄 passive aggressive much?
@@redcomet0079 lol if you insist that I’m being passive aggressive, then that’s how you see it.
I just thought it was odd to ‘jokingly’ complain about getting a show on a Saturday. But yeah, I know it doesn’t matter
An unknown is a better cast for wolverine than any of these other fancasts. Radcliffe would be a great Nightcrawler though like they said.
I agree with Coy completely about setting, Gotham just feels bland with no personality in the last two dark knight movies
100%, i have argued this in the past myself
It’s another normal city lol
@@rubbybandz same, never felt like Nolan’s Gotham felt like Gotham at all. It really was just straight up Chicago. No additional style besides that.
whatever anyone might say about the characters or the story or the plot, the batman so far has my favorite portrayal of gotham
Been doing great work Mr. Harloff, appreciate the hard work
Taron Egerton has always been my pick for Wolverine. I never thought of Daniel Radcliffe as Nightcrawler but that's an excellent idea!
Come on Coy... it was 50/50 Chicago / Pittsberg but yes. Black and Yellow in a staduium, the bridges
With the supes stuff Gunn said his world would be full of people that look as kindness as a weakness and with Clark writing these articles is he selling himself to a public like that? I hope the whole movie isn't justifying his existence. We need Superman. End of story.
prolly writing a piece about superman that Perry wants
@Wolfhunter5607 Could be, just weird it's not done by Lois. Wonder if she still works there? Maybe she works at the Daily Star digging up dirt?
@@nerdsengage possibly but i don’t see y clark couldn’t write about superman too
@Wolfhunter5607 The character, at least to me, is too humble to do that. True humbleness is characterized by humility and a certain quietness or reserve. He let's his walk do the talking, not the printed word.
Congrats on the engagement Coy!
Great discussion guys, enjoyed this very much, especially the banter between you all regarding Metropolis and Nolan 😂
I’ll throw out a name that was not on the Wolverine list Max Thieriot.
I think he has a perfect look..he’s 35 and has played alot of dark brooding characters.
37:13 watch the Terminal List if you want to see what Chris Pratt can do with a serious role and was a great show
exactly. 🙌🏼
Great show guys!!
Brett needs to go fix Coys set up
Honestly Coy has had worse setups and he's learning and getting better
@@ReelPodcastsyou think after all the years in covid and even now he'd maybe get a better set up.
Can someone go fix/adjust Coy’s lighting?
That joy mode segue...welcome back to NYC!😂 Great episode with the boys.
Tbh, I disagree with Coy on a lot. But he’s right about the Nolan Gotham. Because isn’t that the point of it though? It’s supposed to feel like our world, which in result, doesn’t feel unique at all
Allen Ritcherson as Metallo
People are sleeping on Richard Armitage. He voiced wolverine in the long night podcast and played a dwarf in the hobbit movies. He's got the talent and the technology is there to make him short.
Appreciate the support from team - “the Nolan movies are great but after Begins Gotham is just a regular American city / is just Chicago & NYC)
Jeremy Allen White is spectacular. I never would have thought him originally. But now that I think about it. Hells yeah. Dude has it.
Congrats on 150k Kristian.
Is this one gonna be on Spotify? Last week's Capes and Cowls never made it there and I didn't get a chance to listen to it 😢 hopefully it drops soon !! Keep it up
My dark horse pick for Pratt has been Aquaman. I think it would be very interesting to see him be a character that’s confident while still showcasing his ability to be a guy from 2 different worlds like he was as Star Lord
I like the choices. Jeremy Allen White really is a stand out. I've always liked Zack Efron as Wolverine. Taron good too. I like those 3.
Taron Edgerton was my top pick for Johnny storm but I do like Joseph Quinn. I’m not 100% sold for Taron as wolverine
I have to admit I would be super curious to see Radcliffe as Wolverine. Sometimes casting someone against type can be the most surprising experience.
So Kristian, where on Long Island have you moved to? I wouldn’t expect you to give your address. Are you in Nassau? Suffolk? I’m a fellow long islander in Suffolk. So happy for you and your family that the move and this new chapter has gone so well for you all. Wishing you continued and growing success with all you do!!
I've been saying taron egerton should play mcu Wolverine for years 💪🏾 hopefully it happens
20:24 I knew Heath would be a great Joker because of the character he played in Monster’s Ball.
I implore everyone to watch his scenes in that movie.
I'd like to see Radcliffe as Wolverine.
When is this episode and the last episode going up on Spotify?
Hey, enjoyed your show at The Green Room! I wanted to ask a question but I didn't get the chance so here's what I would have said, "hey, just wanted to say it's so weird seeing you both from the waist down. However, it's nice to see that you, as Dan always says, have legs. Do you think that the top tier writers and directors in Hollywood feel like Star Wars is beneath them or that they're afraid of dealing with the fans?" (also, I was the guy that said hello outside the restroom before the show)
I think it’s very possible Chris Pratt is in the DCU as a major role like green lantern or green arrow because he’s great but I think he’ll be in superman just as a cameo as a generic character
I do get Coy's point but in muschietti's defense, that movie was everywhere so he really didn't have the time to depict central city or gotham, but i have faith he will in brave and the bold
My top choices for Wolverine:
1. Jeremy Allen White
2. Austin Butler (Watch Bikeriders)
3. Taron Egerton
4. Jack O’Connell
I agree with Coy about Nolan as well!!! Especially with Dark Knight Rises, that was straight up Pittsburgh, not Gotham.
I'm good with Egerton, Radcliff or any other semi-big name taking the role of Wolverine, but I'm also just as cool with a skilled unknown getting the role because I'm more into *how* Wolverine gets used than who plays him. On one hand, I don't want them tempted to repeat the "Wolverine and Friends" approach to an X-Men franchise with the main X-Men film, but I do want a person who has leading-man quality because I'm all for him being the lead of a Wolverine and/or X-Force spin-off that can live in the harder PG13 or R territory away from the main X-Men title (preferably centering around Storm & Xavier, Cyclops & Jean, and Rogue & Gambit mostly - and in that order of story hierarchy).
I'm also intrigued by the fun promotional potential there is in cameoing 3-5 different younger Logans in Deadpool, then dropping an announcement that we've seen who the next Wolverine is going to be there, but have to wait until closer to Secret Wars to see which one(s) reappears, and *may* go on to be the official MCU Wolverine (e.g., by merging an Earth into the 616 Earth post-SW, or simply having what MCU Wolverine we find in Weapon X custody all this time [think Winter Soldier] happens to look like one of them).
The bigger questions are whether they'd want to tie the X-Men director's hands to a specific casting before we even get the X-Men script finalized (although, there's a pretty clear portrayal of Wolvie we expect, so it would be fine to pre-determine if a chosen actor can fit that).
Radcliffe as Nightcrawler is actually a great idea. I was thinking Dane Dehaan myself.
Coy's ring lite makes his eyes look like he's a mutant
The channel is off to a great start. New York is the way! ✌️
I liked them all together live as opposed to this
Harry Potter as Nightcrawler dam dude that’s something I need to see now nice casting
I think I would prefer an unknown for Wolverine. Taron is great, but he hasn’t had much success since Rocketman. Maybe he needs the role more than the role needs him. An unknown has no baggage, no preconceived idea of what they’ll do or how they’ll play it.
11:00 Thank you Winston. I hate how people downplay Wolverines height. It's part of his character. He's visually and under dog in every sense.
I was thinking Zac Efron personally. I wouldn't be opposed to T.E., but would be very opposed to Daniel Radcliffe.
@@God_of_Calamity I think Jeremy Allen White would be great too.
@@eon001 He could pull it off. Both he and Efron had me sold from The Iron Claw.
From what I’ve seen, not many downplay Wolverine’s height. It’s like the main focus that comes up whenever people mention the character
@@alexp601 All non fans disregard his height. Some are not even aware at all that he's under 6 foot.
Also for the people saying pass Taron. I bet are same people that didn’t think Hugh Jackman could play Wolverine. And now look at everyone now saying he’s Wolverine. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.
I'd cast Chris Pratt as General Glory. He was a JLI character that was an exaggerated version of Captain America. We know how much Gunn likes featuring obscure characters.
What a surprise
Congrats on crossing 150k
Thank you!
They add more cameos to Superman movie it's going to turn into Cannonball Run 🚘 🚔
Funny, The daily planet location is my old apartment I just moved out 4 months ago. Could have caught them filming and given you sneak peeks Kristian 😅
Chris Pratt was in the movie The Kid. Grew a beard and was a great bad guy.
Kristian: Taron is 5’ 7” - it’s the reason WHY his name keeps coming up during Wolverine casting speculation.
Watch the Terminal List. He plays a soldier who rips the insides of someone out, he does it very well.
I think he should be in the tops. I like Daniel Radcliffe, Casper Van Dein, Mel Gibson, and Russell Crowe for older versions.
I saw a article and it said if he was still alive he wanted heath ledger to be the next wolverine
9:44 The moment, my man, Winston kicks in and gets eloquent AF 😂
Time stamps would be the next step for your podcast!
I said this before and I will keep saying it until it proves me wrong. Dafne Keen will replace Huch Jackman as Wolverine. I don't believe Taron Egerton is going to be Wolverine.
I think there’s no way Chris Pratt will be in the DCU anytime soon. He has Starlord projects in the future and there’s not a chance Marvel didn’t include a no DC clause in his contract.
If The Batman 2 gets delayed again, I'll be convinced that it won't happen and I'm ok with that. Brave and The Bold should be the main focus because it's part of the DCU. Multiple franchises for the same character is just dumb and it shouldn't happen. The MUC didn't do that. It will just further divide an already broken fanbase.
Tom Hardy is the only actor I can think of that could possibly surprise us. I feel like there’s someone better but It’s not coming to me.
I don't see egerton as wolverine, really hope that isn't who they go for. His height is better, but yeh wolverine isn't supposed to be a pretty boy.
I mean, Hugh Jackman is a very handsome man, and he's done great. Besides, there's always makeup, prosthetics, VFX, etc that can add to his gruff.
@loooooooooby agreed. Just like the penguin, can't even tell it's Colin. But at the same time why, why spend the money for all that craziness
I feel like if Marvel hired Daniel Radcliffe for Wolverine, the number of Potter heads who would flock to the theater to see him would push the first X-Men movie to be a billion dollar film.
Coy have u read mouse guard? My first comic i ever read if it counts as a comic. remember loving it but i also read it in high school or it mightve even been middle school
I think I'm actually going to bet those Radcliffe odds +2000. It's between Egerton and Harry Potter.
Gonna end up with disney axeing all of Lucas film and giving star wars to one of their other subsidiaries, not them selling it. Just like the "fans" that bullied George into selling to Disney, but this time it leads to all leadership linked to George being out the door.
Emmy for Antony Starr!
What about Johnathan Bailey as Wolverine? When he's brooding on Bridgerton you can see it...
Chris could play the character "Snapper Carr" it would bring attention to a character that they placed on the back burner and have Chris celebrity garner needed attention. The character is a teleporter that snap his fingers all the time. Once dated The Cheetah
You can make Chris Pratt Hal Jordan you flip the script and you give him the hardened intergalactic space cop who's Sen the drk side of the universe
Chris Pratt as Batman!!!
How have you guys never seen Chris Pratt serious? One of the best series nowadays is The Terminal List and and the spinoff and sequel series comes out later this year and next year? plus all his small film roles
Winston and Coy both look absolutely exhausted 😂. 7 a.m. is nothing, when/if these dudes have kids they will long for sleeping till 7 a.m.
If they use bruce I'd think It would be mostly tv or news paper.
However the Wayne's and cobbler's have history so maybe we get an interaction at a party.
As for batman keep him to a mention. If not maybe he's in the background of shot or two in the shadows
The boys have to wake up extra early for the show now lol
Scott Eastwood is my pick for the new Wolverine
Difference is “Harry Potter” has done a much bigger range of characters in movies
Please no i really cant see him as wolverine
lol He said ohh look i got fireworks lmfao
paul giamatti for desaad via motion capture
I hope it’s zac effron
I think Jason Alexander would be the best choice for Wolverine. 😂 I do not like and wouldn't touch the crap Disney puts out nowadays, but I would pay to see that.
