They don't need to abandon something that was never happening in the first place. People criticize Marvel for their movies dropping in quality but when Marvel is making an effort to get the movie right, people still criticize them for wanting to get it right. It was Mahershali Ali that went to Kevin Feige about making a Blade movie, not the other way around.

Blade deserves so much better in terms of proper direction and guidance. Mahershala Ali is a phenomenal actor, I doubt that he will stay around for long if this continues.

@@IndianaJake This is just MY thing, but even though Wesley Snipes was perfect in the role and is the same height as Williams at 5' 9", I prefer a taller version of Blade. Hodge is 6' 1". Again, it is just my personal preference and not an absolute requirement.

Peacemaker season 1 is in the DCEU. Peacemaker season 2 is in the DCU. Not confusing. No need for wormholes or magic helmets or time travel. No need to explain how Peacemaker and Amanda Waller go to another universe because the characters are already established in both universes - similar to how JK Simmons' J Jonah Jameson is in the Raimi films and the MCU.
It'll be confusing who are not diehard comic book fans let that settle in your spirit.

It's not that deep really. The average watcher isn't thinking about who belongs to what universe. Only us. The ones that watch all these comic related TH-cam content make a big deal about who belongs where.
Another comparison could be Judi Dench as M during Brosnan's tenure as Bond and then the reboot with Craig. We've seen this before.
@superby1 James Bond is the best example of this for sure. With 6 actors over 60 years playing the world's greatest superspy. But it seemed when they started from scratch with the first book 📖 Casino Royale that it was a seamless transition for Dame J̌udi Dench.

I knew very little about Creature Commandoes but after seeing what Gunn has done with every other comic book property he's involved in especially Peacemaker and Guardians I'm excited for anything he does, especially without the pressure of a big hero.

From what's been circling around the web. They keep trying to make A Blade movie that doesn't star blade in it. Disney keeps pushing something, not sure exactly what it is.... maybe if I watch The Acolyte, I could find a few clues.😂🤣💀💀
I think season 4 is perfect so far. It's exactly what they have been setting up season after season. And seeing the endgame come into view. Yes it's political. But has been since the first episode. Being mad about it being political is kinda silly in my opinion because it wasn't hidden from the start.
People complaining The Boys got political sound like people who said Star Trek got woke/political. In 1969, TOS had an episode where two people, one whose face was white on the left side and black on the right fought another whose face was black on the left side and white on the other in a “racism is stoopid and bad, m’kay?” episode. Some people only see stuff when they get clobbered over the head with it then complain.
Bro just do a John which style movie with blade, he barely has to talk. Then introduce ghost rider and set up a supernatural villain for future projects like moon knight season 2 and midnight sons. Read some comics and write and direct this damn movie already. Holy fuck marvel.

I’m with Winston on Blade. I was so excited to hear a Blade movie with Ali cast. I bout lost my mind. Hell Coy got me back into collecting comics with the Blood Hunt comics where Blade is a big deal. But I’m really starting to think this movie is going to get made at all. There’s no way Peele directs it. I’d lose my mind if he did, but I just don’t see him giving up the creative control that Marvel seems to demand from their directors.

To preserve Magneto's origins, I think post-Secret Wars MCU should just be set in the 90's. Either that, or just say all mutants age slower than humans. They are homo-superior, I see zero problem saying all mutants age slower.
Damn that's a cool idea. I always thought Magneto would be a Holocaust surviving Winter Soldier for Hydra until he breaks free. But a complete MCU rewind instead of reboot would actually be cool

I always thought just remove him from it by 2 generations, have his Grandfather be a Holocaust survivor, and then after his grandfather settled somewhere during Magneto's youth there was a civil war, where those who settled in the country after WW2 are seen as the cause for the nations problems, which ignites Magneto's on views on humanity, you can even us Sokovia as it's meant to be a war torn nation in somewhat the same region of Europe.
Through the civil war Magneto can get experience as a leader, he can suffer the tragedy of losing his family to bigotry, he can become a hero, and see the people turn on him when they realise he's a mutant, he can meet Xavier who works as a relief worker during the conflict against orders, and once his "freak" nature is revealed Magneto can find brotherhood in Xavier when he reveals himself to also be a "freak" or as he prefers a Mutant, then the story can continue from there.
Huge pull with shouting out Waiting for Godot, Winston. My respect.
Couple thoughts:
- Blade will be fine if it gets rolling within one year. No one outside of our circles will care abou the details as long as it is good, BUT long term plans for the character may get shortened. This will either mean a relatively quick reboot turnaround (a la variant) or the grooming of another to fill his role as Daywalker while he disappears into the night (likely Bloodline - which may get the easily riled segment out with their pitchforks)
- Pratt as Booster Gold would be such low hanging fruit that he shouldn't want the role and they shouldn't want to give him. Plus, it's a chance to launch a younger star (although he should he a relative contemporary of Ted Kord). Sidenote: the Blue Beetle movie was entertaining, and having kept the same Jaime actor, it also strikes me a film that works into the DCU continuity (which doesn't even need to be referenced).
3. When reading those articles I keep wondering when content creators for movie news will notice the part after the title is a summary of the full article to follow. It feels off hearing the same thing said sligjtly differently so close together (like you're restarting the read) so skip the summary part and go straight to the article instead of spending time reading: "X will appear in Y. Sources close to Y say X will appear in it. In talking to M and N, Outlet J learned that the character X from the V project will make an appearance in the upcoming movie, Y."
New york is just as expensive as LA. Still doesnt make sense to move there
You know a lot of people site Ironman as the movie that kicked off things but I always thought the first blade movie did.
I also heard Blade is supposed to lead into Midnight Sons which will be announced at D23 later this year

I really enjoy the transparency we're getting from the DCU. We get just enough in terms of announcements and I don't feel like I know everything about the movies and shows already. You can feel the positivity growing.

Great last show for Capes and Cowls in LA. But question for you three. What do you think of possibly Chad Stahelski directing Blade? I could see it since Chad says Feige is a mentor and he did approach Marvel before about doing a Blade movie. But again great show as always fellas. What's worse? The Blade movie never coming out or an Eternals situation where it comes out and none of those characters will ever be used again?
Winston, that guy from Abbot Elementary would be perfect for Booster Gold. He’s great in that show and he’d definitely crush the role!
Rich Evans should direct the blade movie. He understands the importance of family, and more importantly, he knows how to subvert expectations. He’s the perfect fit for that property.
If they get Blade out they should try to get Blade 2 & 3 filmed together while Mahershla still physically there.
Marvel should just make good movies and stop worrying about connecting everything. I don't give a fuck about a large story if the individual films are just glorified storytellimg stepping stones.

Justice League Unlimited episode The Greatest Story Never Told made me a fan of Booster Gold. As a previous non comic book reader JLU is the best place to get to know the characters.
Since the director left back in March, I'm assuming there's another team working on it right now, so I think it's still possible we could get Blade next year as planned. Although, since it's a vampire movie, I'd prefer it come out sometime in October. It'd be a fun Halloween watch. Also, what's the big deal with Mahershala Ali's age? 50-60 isn't that old anymore. He could clearly do it for at least 10 years. Will Smith is in his mid 50s and still doing action with no trouble. Hell, look at guys like Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Ford, Neeson, Jackie Chan, etc. Those guys are way older than Ali and they're still kicking ass. As for Superman, I'm starting to get nervous James Gunn is adding too many characters. If they're just cameos, that's fine, but if they have a major part, that could be a problem. The first DCU Superman film should keep the superhero character count to a minimum.

The original blade directed by Norrington and written by Goyer should be recruited as consultants at least. The key is preserving HIGH COOL FACTOR. If the MCU can’t do that then someone is effing up over there. It’s not rocket science, there’s a lot of great writing and directing talent. Start schmoozing already. Break out the gifts to woo the best even if they don’t want to do it make it worth their while.

Blade needs a director who can also write the script, like Chad Stahelski, David Leitch, Scott Derrickson, Christopher McQuarrie, and Gareth Evans, for example. People who can do horror, or action. The people who Marvel hired to write the script, are the main problem here. But instead of trying to fix the writing, they seem to want to force the director to work with the script. If you can’t get this off the ground, hire better writers, or hire someone who is passionate about the character, and let them run with it for a while.
I knew one day Marvel would have a dip in quality. But I never thought I’d see the day they had a film in development hell.
The boys is great, I'm assuming the lower numbers are due to most of the right leaning fans figuring out last season that the show was talking about them. The show definitely took the kids' gloves off and is just holding up a mirror now, not preachy just in your face to show the absurdity of what has been going on in the real world.

Wow...The end of an era...Man this is a culmination of so much of my adult life. Been watching for forever. I remember thinking Schmoes reminded me of Howard Stern and Imus In The Morning but for movies and I loved it. I was heavier into Campea at the time but was super excited when you and Ellis went over to Movie Talk with Schnepp and everybody. To me, it was like a dream team. I actually met Ellis at The Store once and I was annoyingly nervous. And I met Schnepp in Burbank across from the theater once and I was a total loser. haha I could not speak and I never ever get like that with any celebs but he was The God of Sweaties and I just couldn't act right. It was so terrible that it was hilarious.
But that show sort of devolved after Schnepp passed and you all went over to SEN and that was cool but super weird with the Schmoebot but guess what? I watched every single episode any frickin way and I even called in once! Wish I saved the ep so I could listen back! But then you left and I had no movie stuff to watch. Then you came back with The Big Thing and I was like, "This...This is right," and I was for some reason surprised that you were back.
I moved from LA to Vegas last Fall and it seems like you're transitioning out of LA at the same time but you have way more to move than I did. But I'm with you man. LA is a dumpster fire. Literally felt like Escape From LA or even Escape from NY (ironically). But I'm happy for you and I'm happy for your fam and I'm proud of you and you have become an inspiration to me let alone an entertainment source. Yeah , lot of nostalgia for the old collider days, as well as the screen juknies movie fights days (remember when harlof made up a movie, night falls to try and win a speed round?!). It just felt like a happier time to be a fan of movies and you tube back in the mid 2010s

Honestly from Sam Raimie’s first Spider-Man through to End Game was probably the best era of being a movie fan. That first Spider-Man was the first time I ever went on the internet looking for more info on an upcoming movie. lol
And the first episode with Campea and Schnepp I watched more than once - maybe more than twice. A great time to be a movie fan for sure. Kristian’s move is a milestone in this movie fan space.

There are exceptions; Donnie Yen who is 60. And for some reason is still fast as hell in the recent John Wick 4. But he’s an exception.
The first 15 minutes of The Boys second episode is great, then it takes a turn they even say why would this character be there and I get it that's the joke, but the stuff that goes on outside of entertainment is what causes us to seek entertainment in the first place, its a distraction and fun and gives us a commonality, but no matter if your super involved or don't care at all, it just becomes exhausting after awhile.

When it comes to Blade I really think it was never on the original slate to to begin with and was never going happen not until maybe phase 6 or 7. It might have been in development but nothing further than that. For lack of a better term, I like think Mahershala Ali kinda blindsided Kevin Fiege when he asked to be Blade after winning his Oscar and Feige wasn't going to say No. Which makes sense why it was the last thing announced at Comic Con that year because it was so last minute. Then the pandemic and everything else that happened mixed in with how do you even explain vampires in the MCU. But like you guys said if he doesn't stick around as Blade, then I hope he gets cast as something else because he's a such a phenomenal actor.

I think that they need to their act together and get this movie made this movie is supposed to be the start of the supernatural side of the MCU and the start of the Midnight Sons plus their supposed to have the Black Knight in the movie because he was teased at the end of Eternals and I think that he had a major role for the Blade movie moving forward I think Peele could pull it of with Blade because he can do the balance between the horror and the Marvel comedy I hope that Wesley Snipes makes some kind of appearance rather that be in the new Blade movie or in Secret Wars I just hope that they start making this movie I really want to see Blade in the MCU.

Great show loving the boys. It is political but the writing is so good it overshadows it. Hope you do reactions to the show since it can be gross at times.
They literally just had to remake the 1998 movie and add mcu elements. It's not even that difficult. They made it difficult by introducing their version and then retiring Blade, replacing him with his daughter in his debut movie.
I mean all the blue states from California to new York have people leaving in droves for states like Texas I hope your experience in New York is better

But seriously tho, why are they having such a big hard with Blade. They can adapt any of the decent stories they got in comics and still have it fit their cinematic universe, if its simple. Im not even a huge Blade fan but I remember the original movies and I'm so baffled why this has been such a roller-coaster. I genuinely starting to feel bad for the actors that's still having to wait on this damn movie.

They've been having issues with their characters not feeling realistic for a while now and with both female and male characters. Not actually having anything to do with your reasoning. 🤔 To me, It's just not as good writing and planning for the characters they have, then anything else.
