Fighters like Varga are few and far between. He’s an absolute gentleman and works to lift others up, but when he’s in there he is ruthless, cold and calculating. He embodies the spirit of martial arts and what it means to be a warrior

Your question mark kick was by far the cleanest technique in the fight. The execution on your kicks and the timing is just something to be envious about; they are always super clean and quick.
His and luke rockholds question mark kick are my favorite
I dunno, his left hook was pretty damn perfect.
How can you dislike this guy? Just pure skill - so positive while being a total killer during the fight.
Bas Rutten has long been my favorite figure in combat sports. His insight and sense of humor are always awesome. Having GSP on commentary is just amazing.
Bas rutten was a legit vato loco in the ring especially with pancrase back in the day.
Everyone talks about the Stockton Slap, but Bas was fucking dudes up with slaps way before it was cool…

Been watching your channel for years now and you’ve inspired me to get back into Muay Thai & BJJ after not doing any combat sports for 4 years or so! Used to box for the British Military and point style kickboxing before that when I was a teenager. Been back at it for a year now!
I'm awfully surprised at how educational this was.
I also thought I was the only person in the martial arts world who doesn't enjoy hurting people/have quite some issues with it.

Why would you think that you're the only one who doesn't like hurting people and has some issues with doing so? I know quite a few people who train in the martial arts and are the same way. Any of them would still hurt people if it's necessary, he just wouldn't enjoy doing it.
Granted, not a popular stance, doesn't seem macho enough and doesn't do much to promote professional fights.
I like how watching and listening to the comments from these two legends and reviewing them by yourself can teach us a lot! I want to watch more content like that!

ONE was so slow with negotiations. I was talking with them for 3-4 months.
Karate Combat sent the offer within 2 weeks.
They absolutely hit the jackpot in terms of commentator choice. Their rule set makes for interesting fights, their venue is interesting as well, and the pit is quite a differentiating feature. Hope they keep growing and eventually add a female division.

And cool to hear what you said about having good (great) technique lines up with my thoughts. Some of the people I train with tease me about how much of a form perfectionist I can be, but my perspective on it is that your form in a fight isn't going to be better than what it is in practice, so might as well practice being as perfect as possible to bring up the performance floor when you're dealing with all the extra variables in live action.
Exactly. A mindset that is applicable in so many areas too.

To clarify, the rule for knee on belly or knee on the floor has been in place since the beginning of Karate Combat. Both are legal.

GSP is the best commentator. During Rockhold vs Schilling, he litteraly predicted every key moments few seconds before it happened. Just like Masato commenting K-1, for those who understand japanese.

If I recall correctly, it was during the commentary at the intros where Bas joked something along the lines that you might have tortured animals as a kid because of how ice cold you are. 😂 Was awesome watching this live. Looking forward to your next fight!

I rather enjoy martial arts and combat sports so I watch a LOT of other channels (I follow everyone who was at Icy Mike's gym for that mass collaboration, and more) and you are in fact one of the most analytical, but more than that, your advice and mindset can be applied outside of the ring or cage. Yes, people SHOULD be doing what you do, but that doesn't mean what you do isn't special.

Trying to not participate in the marketing buuuuut I have to say that I've been using magnesium supplements for years, and they're the only thing I find to have any benefit for my restless legs syndrome. Stretching, training and magnesium = no restless legs. Take a few days off training, no magnesium, and it's a nightmare when I try to sleep.
Loved your fight, it was a bit one-sided and what was kind of impressive was just how much power you really have behind those punches. Like they're obviously hard to take even to the guard. That's something one usually only sees when there's a weight difference. I've noticed in sparring that just 5kg is a real big difference when taking punches with the guard up.
I also used B1 for restless syndrome it works perfectly with magnesium

That's exactly what I said about the ramp too like if you have a fighter that's really tired, that's going to take a lot of energy to get back up. I think they should change that
