    It's particularly difficult to see other cars' front indicators since the EU peed in the construction & use regulations and removed the requirement they be 4 inches away from the headlamps! Not that half the rush-hour drivers use them, visible or not.

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, we’ve noticed that some car models are particularly poor for that - especially if the DRLs don’t dim when the indicator is used!

    Great video, on entering a roundabout in the left lane, what would you do if the car on your right is obscuring the view of the traffic coming from the right of the roundabout?

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      We show this in the video - we must wait until we can see for ourselves that it is safe to continue. Never trust the judgement of the other driver, as they might take a chance and put us in danger!

    Hey, I have a question. what do you do if you're in the right lane in the roundabout and youre about to exit, but upon checking your mirror there's a car very close in the left lane that you'd be blocking if you crossed their path to exit the roundabout?
    Slow on the road until they pass?
    Or do another lap?
    Thanks

  • @Thomashorsman
    @Thomashorsman 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    How do you accelerate away quickly? Obviously more accelerator, but you still have to find the bite then wait for the car to start rolling, then do you pull the clutch up quickly or still slowly?

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We show it in this video th-cam.com/video/8O3ZSqmJ9Yc/w-d-xo.html but it does take some practice. The extra power allows us to use a little more of the clutch bite - which gets the car away faster.

    @4:06 when the bus is on the roundabout are you supposed to wait for it for go or can you go as it turns? Or is that dangerous

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you’re sure that you won’t get in the way of the bus (or anyone else) then you can enter the roundabout. Perhaps I wasn’t sure that time, so decided to wait a few seconds until the bus had turned. 👍🏼

    What should I do when i need to change lane to right but there is steady flow of traffic on the right lane and i am unable to find a gap?

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You have two choices:
      A) Don't change lane. Continue in your current lane and take a detour. It might be that there is an easier way to get to where you need to get to. If we are driving at higher speeds or there is limited time to make the lane change then this is the safer option.
      B) Indicate right and hope that another driver will open a gap for you to take. When driving slowly this is a safer option as we are unlikely to provoke another driver to brake harshly.
      As always, we like to plan ahead as far as possible to reduce the chance of getting caught in the wrong lane, but if we are then we must consider which option is better for that situation.

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool

      Ha ha. That's why we give 'adequate clearance' to other vehicles and check our mirrors! If we can spot dangerous drivers first, we have a chance to avoid them and prevent a crash. We made this video to show how to do this: Defensive Driving: th-cam.com/video/7Ids8S7dLvA/w-d-xo.html

      To be exact it's a 2015 Kia Rio '3 spec' - which gives things like Sat-Nav, climate control, auto wipers & lights etc over the lower models. The only higher spec is called 4 and gives leather seats and a sunroof. In 2017 a new model Rio replaced this version, and looks quite different.

      @Crxssfire Music
      The Highway Code says:
      • Overtake only when it is safe and legal to do so
      • not get too close to the vehicle you intend to overtake
      • use your mirrors, signal when it is safe to do so, take a quick sideways glance if necessary into the blind spot area and then start to move out
      • not assume that you can simply follow a vehicle ahead which is overtaking; there may only be enough room for one vehicle
      • move quickly past the vehicle you are overtaking, once you have started to overtake. Allow plenty of room. Move back to the left as soon as you can but do not cut in
      • take extra care at night and in poor visibility when it is harder to judge speed and distance
      • give way to oncoming vehicles before passing parked vehicles or other obstructions on your side of the road
      • only overtake on the left if the vehicle in front is signalling to turn right, and there is room to do so
      • stay in your lane if traffic is moving slowly in queues. If the queue on your right is moving more slowly than you are, you may pass on the left
      • give motorcyclists, cyclists and horse riders at least as much room as you would when overtaking a car
      All good recommendations to follow!
