Generally unintuitive for old users. But in 1 week of use, the old will be forgotten. This is how this works. Thanks for bringing the news to channel, Wyn!
This is LONG overdue. My biggest bugbear with PBI has been needing to navigate the settings maze. That just slows development down. And you’re spot on. This is an important step for enabling adoption by users who are confident with the ribbon UI of the O365 apps.
Making Power BI formatting work more like it does in Excel and PowerPoint is definitely a good thing, especially for new users. Although they haven't announced it, I would be surprised if Microsoft didn't add Copliot to Power BI in the near future and enable it to create charts and entire reports that can be reconfigured and formatted using natural language prompts.
Power Bi 32 bit gives an error and keeps on exiting when the Preview features were turned on. Then reinstalled the previous version and again installed the new version and turned off the preview features. The error is gone
Hi, either double click or right click on the item in the new Build Visual panel and rename. It's the same process as the current method. If that's not working then sounds like a bug.
Hi Mister, Good evening. A co-worker left the company and now I need to edit an APP that he is the owner of. I have to revise a few measures but I am not able to edit them. Options to download, etc are greyed out. Is there any solution to this case? Is there any application that I can use ?
Yeah, I like the changes, and I Can see how it will make formatting easier in the future. But one thing I don't like for sure and I hope the PBI Team changes back is when you open up the Button and section pane and formatting pane you used to be able to see all three next together, now you can only see on at time. But maybe that's an old heads perspective. I guess you can get used to anything :)
@@AccessAnalytic but the downside is too many clicks to do so. Before that I could collapse and restore Format pane by a simple click on a pane header. Now that easiness is gone.
@@AccessAnalytic I'm autistic and don't like changes, the fields have been on the right, they should stay on the right. I know, a bit sad, but that's just me.
Is it possible to make a video for us that includes the number of existing customers and the total of new customers dynamically? Knowing that the requirement to be a customer is to purchase more than three times during the past 8 weeks. And new customers are those who have bought only 4 times in the last 8 weeks not before. And thanks alot
Sounds like something the SQLBI guys might have done on their channel. Worth posting the question here to get the answer community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/bd-p/power-bi-designer
Sorry for the inconvenience, it seems my question was misunderstood. I needed help in this regard and did not find an answer. Please excuse me, I will not bother you again with my questions.
Depending on your data there may be the option to add some 1/0 flags in Power Query using groupby customer key. This would then really simplify your dax For example th-cam.com/video/vZ0jU2Y7q_M/w-d-xo.html Also the Reddit forum can be good for help www.reddit.com/r/PowerBI/
Nice but there are so many things still missing or not working properly in PBI. Microsoft seems to be focused on face-lifting rather than developing PBI. Sad...
@@AccessAnalytic For usability: - To get Totals calculated automatically in table and matrix wihout having to get involved in writing complicated formulas ; - slicer ability to set default value ; - straightforward filtering out of null, 0 and blank values. @@AccessAnalytic Great 👍 and the bad news is they're not prioritised and users are looking for workarounds, or trying to get away from out of the box, which is problematic to users who are restricted to use external tools, custom viz, etc. Just hoping to get many in-built dev functionalities which are today possible only with external tools.
A half baked feature. Formatting will move again by GA. Feels like by making it easier they buried features in all kinds of places. Now I format some stuff from the visual and some from the side bar. Another miss from the BI team - focused again on aesthetics instead of making the product actually work better.
Wait a second Microsoft. I wouldn't categorize this as a quirk. Try adding data to any visual. Voila, you get SUM and no options to change the aggregate. No average, min, max or whatever. Unless I'm missing something, I think the car has left the garage without one of its wheels. I mean if all we want are visuals that SUM everything, then we're cool. Right?

A good perspective to hold Iván

Yes that settings panel is way too complicated for accessing the basics

A good call Brian
you missed telling us how turn on the preview feature as promised in the video 0:40
Wow.. yeah I did, good spot. File > Options and settings > Options > Preview Features > On-object interaction.

Hi, you should report that here community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/idb-p/Issues
Any particular reason you are using 32 bit?
@@AccessAnalytic Because I have client for Oracle called ODAC that connects me to oracle installed and it is 32 bit.
Ah ok. Hopefully one day you can get the 64 bit ODAC
I tried it ... Could not find a way to change the column or measure name after dragging into the field well... So I turned the option off again!!

When will it be released for download in ms store?
Already out

The Power BI admin should be able to grant you access to the workspace
That's awesome, thank you for the tips 🙂
Cheers

Yeah, agreed. You can get some panes side by side by right-clicking on the side icon and choosing Open in New Pane

Nice video, vile changes 😢
What’s your biggest concern John ?
@@AccessAnalytic I'm autistic and don't like changes, the fields have been on the right, they should stay on the right. I know, a bit sad, but that's just me.
Fair enough, I would prefer to keep the fields on the right also
That’s nice, it’s some how similar to excel charts now
Yep, definitely more familiar

Agree..
Thanks for taking the time to leave your viewpoint Brian
They need to give me an Excel-like grid for building reports.
The closest I’ve seen to that is the info river custom visual inforiver.com/wp-content/uploads/cell-row-column-formatting_-reporting-1536x863.webp

Hi, you can Right-Click on the field to access these rather than clicking on the "V" drop down which has been removed.
