jean claude had just told our hero that he didn't care who got hurt as long as his family was taken care of. liam was just making explicitly graphic to him what it feels like to be a victim of someone who doesn't care if even friends get hurt when it comes to his family's safety.
Many people say Jean Claude's wife didn't deserve to be shot by Bryan. Maybe not, But the thing is, Bryan just found the dead body of his daughters friend in the same house where he found that dirt bag Marko as he electrocuted him to death. He was running out of time, and when he shot Jean Claude's wife, it was to show him how he's not messing around and he'll do anything to get his daughter back. Plus, it's Jean Claude's own fault for being involved in this horrible business.
@jerryrpettus1926 if he shot Jean Claude the wife would feel sympathy for him and possibly not question why. Shooting her will upset her a whole lot and would definitely leave him. That level of thought in the script is overlooked in what people see as an action flick. Btw cool first name.
Remember that ‘Taken’ joke in ‘Deadpool’? Wade says he had a dream that he’d kidnapped Liam’s daughter and he just wasn’t havin’ it? LOL! The punchline was fantastic! “They made three of those movies. At some point you have to wonder if he’s just a bad parent.”
2 & 3 he's definitely a bad parent. In this first one he's as close to a stranger in his daugthers life as he could be without being frozen out entirely. He's not a bad parent here, the mom is. But jesus the daugther is just bereft of a brain in this one.. 16 or no (even though the actress and the one that plays her friend are well into their 20s), some common sense should be involved..
Liam Neeson used to be a substitute teacher... Took over a class with a bully who refused to show the substitute respect and sit down for class. William, as he went by back then, stood his ground and confronted the kid in class who then attacked Liam... Liam layed him out with one punch, I believe got fired for defending himself... Then got into acting. Such a crazy story.
Maggie Grace who played Kimmy was on LOST for a couple seasons and this came out after it, so I knew who she was already. I think she brought what she did on LOST to this film. Such a performance. This was the first movie, I think that really had LIam Neeson as a gritty action hero. I know he was in The Phantom Menace but that's more fantasy action. He just goes on to do so many roles like this now and I'm sure people are like, really? the dude from Schindler's List?
Natalie: "Oh no, oh no... She's going to be taken in Paris isn't she?" Jen: (Channels his inner Holden)... "Who's to say" 🤣🤣🤣 Come on Jen you dropped the ball, that would of been your moment to shine lol
My mom and Aunt would tell me about their class trip to Flordia and someone wanted to take a photo of them just like the scene at 9:54. Thankfully, their teachers were on top of supervision and were able to get them away from that situation. This stuff does happen.
Assuming the film was made the year before it was released, Maggie Grace/Kim would have been 24 years old at the time. I felt sorry for Amanda who was apparently forgotten by everyone so easily.
That movie with Jim Caviezel wasn't directed by Mel Gibson, though. He just promoted it. Some Gibson haters tried to link him to the film in an attempt to get people not to see it. Recommendations: "Edge Of Darkness" (Mel Gibson), "The Count Of Monte Cristo" (Jim Caviezel) and "No Country For Old Men."
Best part of the movie was providing fuel for Seth MacFarlane. Him doing the "I have a particular set of skills" speech as Kermit the Frog was fantastic.
The singer Bryan is protecting at the start is played by Holly Valance, an actual popsinger that dabbled in acting. Her most known hit was "Kiss Kiss" and she had another starring role in the video adaptation of Dead or Alive, the fighting game... It's not a great movie, but surprisingly star studded .P
You should check out Man on Fire with Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning. Similar story where Denzel plays a bodyguard and goes above and beyond when young Dakota Fanning’s character is kidnapped.
2 & 3 are a bit derivative of this and obviously only made because this made good money, but I personally like them and think they're pretty good movies, especially the 2nd one that really continues this story.
Lots of parents have done this kind of thing, just without the skills and luck needed to pull it off. Usually they just end up spending all the money they can get and never finding their child again. It's a cruel, evil world out there. Keep them as safe as you can.
I would suggest that yo watch both of the next movies of taken, they are not repeats of what happened but progressions of the story and well worth the watch.
'That' speech on the phone was an instant meme. I didn't see the movie at release, but I already heard the speech so many times beforehand like Bane imitations before I saw Dark Knight Rises. Zeithüter shirt!
I highly recommend the movie Ransom with Mel Gibson, Gary Sinese, and Renee Russo. It's a very powerful movie with a different take on a similar subject as Taken.
This movie kicked off Liam Neeson basically playing same character in action movies for many years after - always something like a retired or former special forces person
Brian was down to probably less than 48 hours. With that in mind Jean Claude's wife got off easy considering Jean Claude knew the whole time and could have told him. Men like Jean Claude don't care if you hurt them or at the very least will be able to hold out much longer before talking thus wasting more time. Brian didn't have time to mess around.
Taken 1 is a well done action thriller. Everything is done seriously and should be taken seriously. The other movies are just silly action movies with poor jump cuts.
*TAKEN (2008) is a French action-thriller film [ Directed by Pierre Morel and produced by Luc Besson ], which has a multinational cast. French action / thriller / horror films will mostly not disappoint.* ⬅🎬📀📺
"I had another Liam Neeson nightmare. I kidnapped his daughter and he just wasn't having it. They made **** of those movies. At some point you have to wonder if he's just a bad parent."
I grew up watching the James Bond movies and, while I enjoyed them as a whole, I could never get past how unrealistic they were. Taken was the first movie I've seen that took a realistic approach to how someone who is trained at that high of a level would fight. There are no scenes where he shoots a hundred times and hits his enemy once, 10 minute long hand to hand fights, etc. Just brutal takedowns in a matter of seconds. That's exactly how someone with that amount of training would do it unless they were up against someone of equal training. It happens that fast in real life. Liam Neeson did a phenomenal job in both the physicality and the drama of the role. I hope you both check out the sequels Taken 2 and Taken 3.
This is such a heavy topic that I’m very passionate about. I actually went from the US to thailand to work w/ women who’d been rescued from the sex trafficking industry. Very difficult work but also very rewarding. It’s a very dark and horrible industry that sadly exists in many countries that exploit women.
Trafficking isn't the only dangers with travelling overseas, 2 Australian teenagers (19) travelling together in Thailand died in the last 2 weeks from drinking alcohol in a bar which was made illegally out of methanol and served in the bar, many others have also fallen ill or died as a result. So you have to be very careful everywhere, cheers
they have a strong similarity one has his daughter taken the other one has his dog killed and both dont mess arround and are smart. a team up between them would be an instant box office hit.
It's not just about traveling. Men CAN'T protect the women in their life they love if those women don't LISTEN to them and their concerns saying, "I can wear, do and go anywhere I want and don't have to listen to you." It's not controlling. It's about safety. Great reaction ladies to a great movie and a VERY serious subject. This horror is happening all over the world.
Finally the reaction I’ve been waiting for and one of the best so I can’t wait for you guys including Holden to watch all of it the borne Trilogy and the taken Trilogy and I’m really looking forward to seeing you Jen continue on playing the halo trilogy
I literally watched Absolution last night haha. For a man that has been in Star Wars, Gangs of New York and Batman it’s kinda sad that he’s stuck in this typecast role as this battle hardened ex cop/bodyguard/hitman etc. Let’s just say, they’re not all the same quality as the original Taken 😄
One of my favorite Liam Neeson movies, and an all-around classic action thrill ride... the rest of the movies in the trilogy pale in comparison to how AMAZING this first entry is... Great movie
18:27 Then you would have loved me in high school, Jen. If I hadn't been able to convince the disciplinary faculty that I didn't comprehend the policy on wearing...band T-shirts (whereas all that would have been necessary to expose the whole thing was for them to have asked anybody about my academic record), I would have been expelled long before graduation.
This movie while entertaining is classic stranger danger security theatre. The USA has a huge trafficking problem. Not leaving the country won't make you safer. Just like the biggest danger to children isn't strangers but family members
The Sound of Freedom film you mentioned at the beginning is a profoundly problematic film, as it actually promotes and illustrates a lot of misconceptions and misinformation about trafficking. The film also embellishes the work of its main character, whose real life counterpart absolutely did not do a lot of what he did in the film. The discourse around the accuracy of the film by people who work in thwarting trafficking is that it's about as accurate as this film here, Taken and since Taken is a completely fictional story, you can see the significance of that statement. It also stars as it's main actor a QAnon believer, whom, along with other people, believe there are forces within Hollywood itself as well as in the government that run and facilitate human trafficking. He has also made public statements - I'll say that again, public statements - about Hollywood and government elites stealing children and harvesting their blood for adrenochrome. I seriously cannot express this enough to anyone, how absolutely objectively incorrect that belief is. First of all, adrenochrome is made by oxidizing adrenaline and if anyone knows even a little bit about adrenaline, then you will know adrenaline and epinephrine are the same thing - and you can literally just go buy epinephrine to oxydize. Second, you can do this for cheap, and there are other ways for getting your hands on either epinephrine or adrenochrome itself that are way less of a hassle than kidnapping children and drinking their blood. Lastly, for all the epinephrine available to buy, it is exclusively made through synthesis and not harvested from animals, human or otherwise. For a chemical so easy to synthesis, why in hell would some cabal of elitists go through all the trouble of getting it through trafficking children? The film was also funded by a literal QAnon group who themselves fund QAnon conspiracies as well as Christian fundamentalists. I have no qualms with religion and spirituality, but fundamentalism in all forms is abhorrent and vile. It's also the case that, like Taken, the film fails to actually address what the real issue with trafficking is, which is not Americans in some foreign country, being taken by foreign groups and sold to wealthy foreigners. The real problem we face in this country is the trafficking that happens within our borders and never actually even leaves these boarders. Unfortunately the real person the film was based on, he was recently fired when it came to light that he was a sexual predator. Conspiracies are real. The CIA absolutely killed JFK. Havana syndrome was definitely cause by secret weapons that emit microwaves. However, there is no cabal of elitists in this country, in Hollywood or the government, that are secretly controlling, orchestrating, and maintaining the trafficking that goes on within our borders. The government absolutely takes drugs that they seize from cartels and sells it back into the streets so they can repeat the process and make money, but it does not orchestrate and maintain human trafficking. The absurdity of this idea is on par with the Wayfair conspiracy theory. Human trafficking, both child and sex trafficking does happen. It's real and it's horrific. The best way to educate yourself is to actually sit down with people working in that field to see how it works. Films are for entertainment, including Sound of Freedom. It's one thing when a film presents an idea that peaks your curiosity and gets you interested in learning something. It's even one thing when a film presents a real world problem that pushes your empathy button and makes you want to learn about it and potentially get involved. It's a whole nothing thing when a film presents a real world problem and then spends its time shrouding that problem in lies, misinformation and misconceptions but presents itself as educational, real, and THE film to watch about this subject. The Sound of Freedom is not a film people should watch. It is not educational. It is not informative. It does not raise awareness about the problem of human trafficking anymore than Taken did and at least Taken wasnt a film presented as being a true story and then completely faked. Because of the falsehoods in the film, it actually hurts the fight against human trafficking, and indeed spending your money to see it funds those who created the film, who turn around and use the money you gave them, preying on your faith, preying on your good heart and intentions, to create a film full of repugnant propaganda, lies, and conspiracy theories, that actually stifles the efforts made in the name of thwarting the subject matter of its film. I mean, at the end of the film, at least in some places, they had a QR code that when you scanned it, it brought you to a ticket link you could send to your friends so they could see it, as to "get the message out." It could have been a QR code that took you to a link that listed actual organizations working on this problem that you could either donate to or contact to volunteer, or whatever, to actually take actionable steps in ending human trafficking. But it didn't. It's clear from that, and from the contents of the film, that they don't actually care about solving human trafficking. They cared about spreading misinformation and propaganda about human trafficking and ultimately negatively impacting the discourse around it.
Liam Nelson's biggest breakout movie globally. The reason why he's the Liam neeson people know now. I know that's not all Liam Neeson is and hes an actor as well
I think that mom was the real villain of the movie. She was horrible! She let's her daughter do whatever she wants. She lies to Liam and treats him like crap. And she seems like a gold digger. As far as I'm concerned, she was the one mostly responsible for her daughter being taken. She was the worst!
Legitimately one of the great dad movies ever made. Its crazy that this is the film that made Liam Neeson an Action star but i personally am a fan of revenge movies where the hero is on a strict time table and is willing to cross any line that is necessary. Screw the no casualties or no collateral damage. Major Props to Liam neeson and if youd like to see a good old fashioned Revenge movie look up Rob Roy. Its a classic movie with one of the most underrated sword duels in movie cinema
I literally fast forward through most of the video trying to get past all the yapping and by the time the movie was over I was so over the yapping I exited out the video I didn’t listen to whatever else they had to say
Great Reaction! This film put Liam Neeson on the Map as an action star. I love this movie for the issue it exposed. If you want to see another great Liam Neeson action flick, I recommend "Unknown" a great 2011 action flick. He stars with Diane Kruger, Aidan Quinn and Frank Langella. A great film. Finally, if you want to do a great Thanksgiving themed film anytime between now and Christmas, I recommend "Dutch" a great 1991 road dramedy written by the late John Hughes. Ed O'Neill who is famous as "Al Bundy from Married with Children and also from Modern Family stars as the lead. Also stars Jobeth Williams (Poltergeist) and Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore). A great film.
jen said if jean claude felt that pain it ''might have also prompted him to say something''. as a veteran myself, theres not a chance in heck im going to settle for a ''maybe''. if i was someone like jean claude i would 1000% rather be injured than my wife. thats exactly why giving her a flesh wound was the right move. its personal.
this stuf aint no joke human trafficking is a big problem specialy woman and kids,i used to think it wasnt that bad but its pretty bad. dont ever leave youre kids alone with someone you dont trust on vacation or otherwize untill they are world smart enough which means atleast 22 but if youre smart you never leave them without trusted company. this stuf doesnt have to happen ofc it often doesnt but it can and thats the problem. great movie and the reason he shot the wife and not him is because he wouldnt care much if he got shot but if you shoot a loved one that has a much stronger effect, people are prepaired to be hurt but not so much prepaired to get there loved ones hurt or even killed its a psychological thing. if you shoot me it wouldnt do all that much but if you shot someone i care about that does allot more to me.
Daniel Boone was faced with a very similar situation concerning his daughter Jemima in 18th century America. You can read about it in The Taking of Jemima Boone by Matthew Pearl. Or watch the first episode of the History Channel program Men Who Built America: Frontiersmen
jean claude had just told our hero that he didn't care who got hurt as long as his family was taken care of. liam was just making explicitly graphic to him what it feels like to be a victim of someone who doesn't care if even friends get hurt when it comes to his family's safety.
The most unbelievable part of this movie is the idea that a teenager in 2009 would be thrilled to follow a U2 tour.
Many people say Jean Claude's wife didn't deserve to be shot by Bryan. Maybe not, But the thing is, Bryan just found the dead body of his daughters friend in the same house where he found that dirt bag Marko as he electrocuted him to death. it was a flesh wound. She'll live
@@dominiqueodom3099"Please apologize to your wife for me."
Another side effect of that shooting was that Jean Claude would now be forced to tell his wife why she was shot and she would very likely leave him.
@jerryrpettus1926 if he shot Jean Claude the wife would feel sympathy for him and possibly not question why. Shooting her will upset her a whole lot and would definitely leave him. That level of thought in the script is overlooked in what people see as an action flick. Btw cool first name.
Ok so his wife did nothing wrong and you are arguing (with vigor) she deserved to be shot?
Remember that ‘Taken’ joke in ‘Deadpool’? Wade says he had a dream that he’d kidnapped Liam’s daughter and he just wasn’t havin’ it? LOL! The punchline was fantastic! “They made three of those movies. At some point you have to wonder if he’s just a bad parent.”

Best part of this movie is it's no bs just gets right into it and non stop action for 1 hr 30 mins. Liam is awesome. Father of the year award!
Scariest thing about this movie is that this stuff is really happening on a daily basis more then people can imagine
It’s even worse than this.
Demons love baby blood.
Especially Eastern Europe and most Middle East countries. Women and children are like toys to be played with.
Yeah, it’s happening to immigrants, child runaways, and children in poor/vulnerable positions, not blonde rich girls from the suburbs
When our own government lost track of over 300k migrant children this summer. It's a gd nightmare.
Yea…. I’m ac- nvm
After that monologue on the phone, we knew those kidnappers were as dead as the russians that shot John Wicks dog...
Maggie Grace who played Kimmy was on LOST for a couple seasons and this came out after it, so I knew who she was already. I think she brought what she did on LOST to this film. Such a performance. The pop star in the movie is an Australian/British pop star Holly Valance
*Holly Valance was also in the action film "DOA : Dead Or Alive" (2006).*
Assuming the film was made the year before it was released, Maggie Grace/Kim would have been 24 years old at the time. I felt sorry for Amanda who was apparently forgotten by everyone so easily.
Yeah what do they say when they see her mom again?
That movie with Jim Caviezel wasn't directed by Mel Gibson, though. He just promoted it. Some Gibson haters tried to link him to the film in an attempt to get people not to see it.

Moral: always listen to your dad.
Best part of the movie was providing fuel for Seth MacFarlane. Him doing the "I have a particular set of skills" speech as Kermit the Frog was fantastic.
Fun fact: This movie was considered a turning point in Liam Neeson’s career, as he concentrated on action thriller films going forward.
No Country for Old Men is another intense movie y'all would love
That's one I need to watch

From Bourne to Taken. What a transition. Only Transporter & John Wick come close imo.

what do you mean behind the scenes, cps(or whatever your local area calls it) is out in the open and even is backed by the state
This movie kicked off Liam Neeson basically playing same character in action movies for many years after - always something like a retired or former special forces person
The reason LIAM NEESON shot the guy's wife was because guy kept mentioning his family. So his wife meant more to him than his own life.
“If I purchase these Trix there’ll be no trouble?”

There is NOTHING, and I mean absolutely NOTHING realistic about any of this lmao this is an old man who would get stomped out in the first fight 😭😭😭

I think my favorite thing about this series is that Liam Neeson agreed to do Taken 3 only under the agreement that nobody get taken 😂

Krav Maga is the fighting style done in this movie it was adopted for the Israeli defense forces.

Taken2 is a solid logical sequel. 3 is forgettable.
@@TrekBeatTK Yeah I can understand that point of view, I just personally love all three of them. They are oddly enough my comfort movies.
@13:18 Marko saying “good luck” is his way of signing his own death warrant.
Shock factor so much more excentuated with plugging the wife ... I luvd that scene
Thanks to the success of this film, Neeson has been doing mostly tough-guy roles in this same vein ever since.

yeah just gone ahead and watch all three

100x this^
Love this movie but yeah scary if you’re just a regular parent the kid is gone
Liam Nelson's biggest breakout movie globally. The reason why he's the Liam neeson people know now. I know that's not all Liam Neeson is and hes an actor as well
I think that mom was the real villain of the movie. She was horrible! She let's her daughter do whatever she wants. She lies to Liam and treats him like crap. And she seems like a gold digger. As far as I'm concerned, she was the one mostly responsible for her daughter being taken. She was the worst!
This is a great trilogy:)
no more reading the movie summaries before watching!! haha great video!!!
I agree
Legitimately one of the great dad movies ever made.
Its crazy that this is the film that made Liam Neeson an Action star but i personally am a fan of revenge movies where the hero is on a strict time table and is willing to cross any line that is necessary.
Screw the no casualties or no collateral damage.
Major Props to Liam neeson and if youd like to see a good old fashioned Revenge movie look up Rob Roy. Its a classic movie with one of the most underrated sword duels in movie cinema
2 females reactors = talking over EVERYTHING 😂😂😂😂
I literally fast forward through most of the video trying to get past all the yapping and by the time the movie was over I was so over the yapping I exited out the video I didn’t listen to whatever else they had to say
@brandonjauregui3624 I almost did that but determined it wouldn't have help 😞 lol
38:53 There's a third too.
Well done Jen
Peppermint is so worth watching, if you like this
Great Reaction!

Mind your Trigger finger Jen.
Army taught you better 👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻
*props to the support hand grip. Looking better*
a wonderful "trilogy" of films.
It was morally questionable for Brian to shoot Jean Claudes wife, but in the end, it's understandable.
I thought by beagle Natalie meant a glock she named 😂
I see Maggie Grace, I press like
React to “The Town” by Ben Affleck
+10 for the rammstein shirt ❤ 🤘
jen said if jean claude felt that pain it ''might have also prompted him to say something''. as a veteran myself, theres not a chance in heck im going to settle for a ''maybe''. if i was someone like jean claude i would 1000% rather be injured than my wife. thats exactly why giving her a flesh wound was the right move. its personal.
Damn, I forgot Jenn has a 16 year old. Basically, the same age. Holden ain't letting her travel to Europe by herself.
this stuf aint no joke human trafficking is a big problem specialy woman and kids,i used to think it wasnt that bad but its pretty bad.
dont ever leave youre kids alone with someone you dont trust on vacation or otherwize untill they are world smart enough which means atleast 22 but if youre smart you never leave them without trusted company.
this stuf doesnt have to happen ofc it often doesnt but it can and thats the problem.
great movie and the reason he shot the wife and not him is because he wouldnt care much if he got shot but if you shoot a loved one that has a much stronger effect, people are prepaired to be hurt but not so much prepaired to get there loved ones hurt or even killed its a psychological thing.
if you shoot me it wouldnt do all that much but if you shot someone i care about that does allot more to me.
After watching this movie I think y'all will like 'Sicario.'
Paris is a shithole and such things rly happen daily.
Movie is tense and rewarding. One of my action all time favs.
Thank you for the energy you put into your videos! Very inspiring! 😘🍭
Well, technically this is a Disney movie now...
Maggie looked amazing
Liam Neeson is a phenomenal actor 👏🏿.
Respect from ALBANIA 😂✌️
Sigh the best movies hit close to home
Jean grey from xmen played the mom
I never realized Luc Besson wrote this movie. 😂
No don't shoot the dude, he needs to be focused on giving information
Qui Gon can do no wrong 🙏🏻
Daniel Boone was faced with a very similar situation concerning his daughter Jemima in 18th century America. You can read about it in The Taking of Jemima Boone by Matthew Pearl. Or watch the first episode of the History Channel program Men Who Built America: Frontiersmen
Mel Gibson didn't direct sound of freedom lol
